205. Gratitude for What Each Enneagram Type Brings to the Workplace29 Nov 202500:47:45

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, this episode is a celebration of the people you work with; the ones who keep projects moving, solve problems behind the scenes, strengthen relationships, and hold your team together in ways that often go unnoticed.

Instead of focusing on potential friction points or growth edges, we’re taking a moment to appreciate the strengths each Enneagram type brings to a team and why your workplace is better because of them. Whether you lead people, work closely with a diverse group, or simply want to feel more grounded in gratitude, this episode gives you language to recognize and celebrate the nine unique ways people contribute.

What You’ll Hear for Each Type:

Type 1 – Striving to Feel Perfect:
Integrity, follow-through, and the commitment to doing things right.

Type 2 – Striving to Feel Connected:
Empathy, support, and the ability to make people feel seen.

Type 3 – Striving to Feel Outstanding:
Drive, momentum, and the energy that inspires others into action.

Type 4 – Striving to Feel Unique:
Creativity, emotional depth, and the ability to bring meaning into the work.

Type 5 – Striving to Feel Detached:
Calm clarity, expertise, and thoughtful problem-solving.

Type 6 – Striving to Feel Secure:
Group cohesion, preparedness, and forward-thinking protection for the team.

Type 7 – Striving to Feel Excited:
Optimism, adaptability, and the ability to bring possibility into any conversation.

Type 8 – Striving to Feel Powerful:
Passion, advocacy, and the willingness to speak the truth plainly.

Type 9 – Striving to Feel at Peace:
Stability, inclusion, and a grounding presence that keeps teams connected.

A Thanksgiving Invitation:

Take one moment this week to share appreciation with someone on your team, whether you know their type or not. Name one strength you see in them. The smallest acknowledgment can change someone’s entire experience at work.

204. Enneagram Type 4: Striving to Feel Unique - How It Shows Up at Work24 Nov 202500:33:38

In this episode of Enneagram at Work, we're continuing the 9 Types Overview Series with a deep dive into Enneagram Type 4: Striving to Feel Unique, often called The Individualist or, in the Awareness to Action framework, The Visionary.

This episode explores how Type 4s bring creativity, emotional depth, and originality into the workplace, and how their search for meaning and authenticity shapes their leadership, communication, and team dynamics. You’ll learn how this type adds emotional depth and richness to teams, where they can get stuck, and how to better collaborate with people driven by purpose and identity.

What You’ll Learn:

  • The core motivation or "root logic" behind Type 4’s drive to feel unique
  • Why Type 4s are often the emotional and creative heartbeat of a team
  • How strengths like depth, empathy, and originality can become overused
  • How Type 4s approach work, purpose, and self-expression
  • How the 3 instinctual biases create different expressions of Type 4 energy
  • Growth practices using their arrows to Type 1 and Type 2
  • How to give and receive feedback in a way that feels safe and meaningful

Try This at Work:

  • If you’re a Type 4: Practice grounding your ideas in structure. Ask, “What’s the smallest step I can take today?”
  • If you work with a Type 4: Invite their perspective. Ask what something means to them, not just what they think about it.

For Teams & Leaders:

Type 4s bring heart, storytelling, and emotional intelligence to teams. They help organizations connect to purpose, humanity, and meaning. But they can also feel misunderstood, left out, or undervalued if their emotional world isn’t acknowledged.

Teams that work well with Type 4s make room for both performance and meaning, honoring feelings without letting them derail progress.

195. Why We Rely on 1s, 2s & 6s at Work with Co-Host Demetrius "D" Parker 13 Sep 202500:49:25

Before we dive in: Most of our work at Enneagram MBA is rooted in the Awareness to Action model developed by Mario Sikora and team. But from time to time, we like to explore other Enneagram approaches and insights that come up in the workplace and coaching conversations. This is one of those episodes, so you may hear some differences from the ATA model we typically use.

In this episode, I’m joined again by my co-host, Demetrius (“D") Parker, as we continue our Coworker Chemistry series. Last time, we looked at the high-energy types (3, 7, and 8). This week, we shift gears to talk about another powerful trio: Types 1, 2, and 6, commonly known as the dutiful types.

These three strategies bring such a strong sense of responsibility and group cohesion to their work and teams, though they each express it in different ways. In our conversation, we covered:

  • Type 1 (Striving to Feel Perfect): integrity, high standards, and the pressure of an inner critic.
  • Type 2 (Striving to Feel Connected): empathy, connection, and the challenge of people-pleasing.
  • Type 6 (Striving to Feel Secure): loyalty, risk-awareness, and the courage it takes to ask hard questions.

We also dig into how these types can complement one another, where they might clash, and what growth looks like for each...from turning “the way” into “a way,” to setting clear boundaries, to transforming fear into collaboration.

Whether you identify with a 1, 2, or 6 (or work with someone who does), I think you’ll find this episode full of both practical insights and real-life examples you can take back to your team.

What You’ll Hear in This Episode

  • The strengths and blind spots of Types 1, 2, and 6.
  • Why these types are often the backbone of teams.
  • Stories and analogies (including the “Mafia boss” and the six’s “BS meter”) that bring these strategies to life.
  • Practical tips for collaboration, leadership, and personal growth.

And stay tuned! Our next episode will cover the remaining group: Types 4, 5, and 9.

D and I both facilitate workshops on behalf of Enneagram MBA. Learn more about the options and booking your team's end-of-year experience with us over at enneagrammba.com.

104. Which Enneagram Types Get Along Best at Work? feat. Executive Coach and Former Founder, Nathan Parcells27 Jun 202300:20:11

What types work best together?

This is a question that comes up during team workshops and while there are no types that work "best" together, it can be helpful to understand the strengths each type can bring to a working relationship, to their team, and to the organization.  It can also be valuable to know what potential challenges you might face working with someone who might share a very different perspective than you.

In this conversation, Nathan Parcells, former Founder and now Executive Coach and owner at Sharpened Coaching, walks us through three specific co-worker dynamics and what synergies and difficulties each might face:

  • Type 3 and Type 8
  • Type 8 and Type 9
  • Type 1 and Type 3

Regardless of your type, the insights Nathan shares will give you new things to think about when it comes to better understanding yourself and those that you work with.

Today's episode is a clip from the Enneagram MBA podcast library. You can listen to the full conversation with Nathan in episode 82 where you'll also learn about:

  • Nathan's own startup Founder journey
  • his biggest tip for getting the most out of applying it
  • what he sees as the most helpful aspects of the Enneagram
  • his experience having a coach and what to look for when hiring one
  • one thing he's laser-focused on  getting better at as someone with Type 4 energy
  • helping co-founders manage burnout and when needed, navigate a successful exit

99. Can the Enneagram Really Help You Get Along Better with Your Boss?23 May 202300:50:54

Do any of these types of bosses sound familiar?

  1. A brand new boss, someone you’ve never met before.
  2. A manager you don’t see face-to-face because she works in another location
  3. An insecure boss (hint: it’s important to know how to tame his ego)
  4. An all-knowing
  5. An indecisive boss
  6. A manager who gives you conflicting messages
  7. A long-winded boss
  8. A hands-off boss
  9. A manager who isn’t as smart as you
  10. A boss that’s actually a board of directors, rather than a person

In a 2015 Harvard Business Review article, called What Everyone Should Know About Managing Up, these 10 types were outlined as potential team member-leader challenges.

No matter what type of manager you have, there are some skills that are universally important.

  • You need to know how to anticipate your boss’s needs
  • You need to understand what makes your boss tick (and what ticks her off) if you want to get buy-in for your ideas
  • You need to know the best way to bring a problem to your boss (based on their personality) and be able to navigate sticky situations together

In today's episode, we're learning from Joy M. Pederson, Ph.D. on how to specifically use the Enneagram in all of these situations to manage up.

Listen in to get insight and a quick tip about working with each Enneagram type of boss.

Remote work is a bit of a hot topic in the working world right now.

There's the camp of full-time in the office, different hybrid models, and full-time remote teams.

There are benefits and advantages to each, and of course potential challenges with each.

In today's episode, we're talking with the Principles and Co-Founders of The Decker/Royal Agency (2023 Inc's Best Workplace Winner), Cathy Decker and Stacy Royal, on how they've used the awareness they've gained from the Enneagram to navigate some of the challenges of a fully remote team and to better understand:

  •  their own leadership styles as Type 8's

  • each member of their team more deeply to better communicate and collaborate
  • and... their clients.

95. What Does Race Have to Do With the Enneagram? feat. Jessica Denise Dickson, Type 825 Apr 202300:59:12

The Enneagram is a system that applies to individuals of all races and ethnicities.

However, it's important to note that the Enneagram, like any personality typing system, can be influenced by a variety of factors, including cultural and social conditioning.

Individuals from different racial and cultural backgrounds will probably have different experiences and perspectives that can affect how they interpret and apply the Enneagram - and how they "show up" as that type. It may not look like the stereotypical behaviors we see shared on social media.

Certain Enneagram types may be more common or valued in certain cultural contexts - like those in Asian cultures valuing both being perfect (Type 1) and being successful (Type 3).

And so, it's  important to approach the Enneagram with sensitivity and awareness of these potential cultural and social influences, and to recognize that individuals from different racial and cultural backgrounds may have different experiences and perspectives on the Enneagram.

In this interview, life empowerment coach and Enneagram guide, Jessica Denise Dickson provides more insight and context into using the Enneagram to actually do the work and grow, both as an individual and in our understanding of others.

Listen in to hear more about:

  • What mistakes to avoid in the typing process
  • Jessica's own typing journey that includes taking 20+ quizzes and tests
  • How your culture, family systems, religion, and social expectations also impact how you "show up" as your Enneagram type
  • The cons of using the TriType theory
  • How growth may look different for the same Enneagram types and vary based on gender and race
  • How to start on your growth path regardless if you know your type or not
  • How the Enneagram and Anti-Racism work expand us
  • How your type may have helped you stay in privilege and bypass and what is there to let go of
  • What embodiment actually means and all the things it's made up of
  • How to use the Enneagram in the workplace as a manager or leader

90. Enneagram for Entrepreneurs: Build an Aligned Business by Studying These 9 Pieces08 Dec 202200:32:53

I'm guessing if you're listening to this one, you have a business that you started around something you love or a cause you're passionate about.

But, over time that love and passion have been known to fade because of all the other things that are required of you to run a successful business.

That light for your business can start to dwindle and instead of inspiring you, it can start to drain you.

Part of this is just the normal ebb and flow of running a business.

And part of it might because there are certain things out of alignment with your personality, interests and strengths.

The more you know about yourself and your entrepreneur style, the more ease and enjoyment you can put back into your business.

In this episode, you'll learn 9 pieces of the Enneagram to dig into more to uncover specific parts of how your type and your work and creator style can overlap to create a business that fits into your whole life, not the other way around.

1. Insight about your sales style
2. Alignment around what you sell and how you deliver it
3. Specific challenges based on your Center of Intelligence
4. Understanding the energy you bring to going after what you want and getting your needs met using Stances
5. What stress looks like for you and what to do about it
6. What growth looks like for you and when to celebrate wins
7. Better understand you clients and customers using conflict style insight
8. What reoccurring obstacle you may be running into based on your specific type
9. What unhelpful message you'll need to work to turn down the volume on based on your type's Childhood Message

89. The Skills and Strengths that Can Sabotage a New Leader with Jodi Flynn | Women Taking the Lead | Type 3 01 Dec 202200:48:57

You've probably heard the saying, "What got you here, won't get you there."

In this interview episode with leadership consultant, executive coach, host of the Women Taking the Lead podcast, keynote speaker, and Type 3, Jodi Flynn, you'll learn one of the biggest mistakes new leaders make, especially women, that can leave them overworked and questioning if they are cut out for this new level of leadership.

It has to do with letting go of the mentality of success that got you this promotion  because it no longer works at this level.

You'll learn how to avoid this mistake (it happens to the best of this!) and instead how to set yourself up as a sustainable, successful leader that has a full life in and out of work.

When you listen in, you'll also hear from Jodi on:

  • important questions to consider like "what does it look like to hit a wall?"
  • the power of good enough
  • when it's okay not to bring your A-Game
  • why the workplace isn't always set up for women to get and succeed in a promotion
  • one thing that can sabotage new leaders - and what to do about it
  • signs it's time for a break - and how to know you're ready to come back
  • when you might need to reset your podcast to better align with your business
  • the impact a podcast can have on your sales strategy
  • dealing (or avoiding!) hard feelings as a Type 3
  • finding joy outside of accomplishment as a Type 3

88. A 2-Question Enneagram Test and How You'll Know When You Find Your Type24 Nov 202200:23:47

What if you could start to uncover your Enneagram type, or help someone else start to uncover their Enneagram type, in just 2 questions?

With the holidays coming up I thought this would be a fun and practical episode to share in case you wanted to nerd out and share the Enneagram with your family and friends.

While tests can be anywhere from 60-90% accurate, they can be a great starting point when you're new to the Enneagram.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is a 144-question typing test that I use during my Know Your Number "Enn-Focus" Typing Sessions. It takes about 30 minutes to complete with about an 80% accuracy, so there's still some additional digging needed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, if you're not ready for that yet, there is the 2-question Riso-Hudson QUEST Test will help you narrow down your type in less than five minutes with about a 70% accuracy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
TEST RULES
When you go thru the questions:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Select just one paragraph in the following two groups that best reflects your general attitude and behaviors as you have been for most of your life. Remember we have all 9-types inside of us, but one particular style is our "home base."

2) You do not have to agree completely with every word or statement in the paragraph you select. You may only agree with 80-90%. You should, though, agree with the general philosophy of the paragraph - don't pick it just because of a single world or phrase.

3) Do not overanalyze your choices! Go with your gut.

TAKE THE TEST HERE: https://www.enneagrammba.com/blog/enneagramtest
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How will you know when you've finally discovered your type?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
--> You will just know - waves of relief and embarrassment and excitement will wash over you.

--> Things that you have always known unconsciously about yourself will suddenly become clear and patterns will emerge.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💡
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Self-discovery is a process, and that the process does not end with discovering your type - really, it's just the beginning!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

87. 3 Ways to Use the Enneagram in Your Job Search17 Nov 202200:32:36

Are you on the hunt for your next career?

Maybe you're fed up with where you've been.

Or maybe you're getting back into the job market after being at home parenting kids, taking care of a parent, or healing from a health issue.

Regardless, of why you're ready, this episode's intention is to help you get ready by focusing on three parts of the job search process and how to apply the Enneagram in each one:

1) Prework: Getting Clear on a Direction
Study yourself, understand what's not working in your current role, what is that you'd like to take with you, and what you would prefer in the next chapter using insight and information taken from your Enneagram type.
This is foundational for setting a clear path as to what role would be a great fit for you, what type of company culture you prefer, and what type boss would bring out the best in you.

2) Writing a More Accurate and Effective Resume
Drop the "hardworking" and "positive attitude" characteristics and use the Enneagram to validate and embrace your natural strengths (not everyone has them!), give you clear and meaningful language to explain your past experiences, and effectively communicate what makes you unique.

3)  Getting Your Questions Answered During the Interview
Take advantage of getting to ask questions at the end of your interview and ensure you get valuable information from them by asking specific questions about your role, your working environment, company culture and your manager's priorities and communication/leadership style to help you more clearly see what's a "heck yes!" and what might be "not a good fit" based on how those things overlap and compliment (or drain) your energy.

193. Workplace Relationships with High Energy Types (3, 7, & 8) with Co-Host Demetrius "D" Parker06 Sep 202500:54:39

What happens when three of the most high-energy Enneagram types (Threes, Sevens, and Eights) work together?

In this conversation with guest co-host Demetrius “D” Parker, we dig into the unique strengths and challenges of these assertive types, how they interact with each other, and the dynamics they create with other styles on a team.

We also explore practical growth paths for each type, helping them channel their drive, enthusiasm, and power into stronger professional relationships and sustainable leadership

If you happen to still be on your typing journey and stuck between two or all three of these types, be sure to check out the bonus episode where D and I talk about the similarities and key differences between these three to give you additional insight and reflection points as you narrow down your top type.

81. Applying Personality Assessments in Real Life with Heidi Dexter | Type 7 [Part 6 in Personality Assessments at Work Series]06 Oct 202200:45:46

When you think of the traits that make up your personality, are you viewing them as all the things that are "wrong with you?"

Often times in my own personal experience and Enneagram teaching experience, the more we learn about ourselves it's the "negative" qualities we tend to focus on first.

Inside this final episode of the Personality Assessments at Work Series, you'll hear from Heidi Dexter, Type 7w8, head of customer experience at Beauty Culture Med Spa, and self-growth student on how she's shifted her thinking over the years from  personality deficiencies to her personality strengths - and some things for you to think about to do the same.

Over the last 5 episodes you've heard about different personality assessments to help you better understand yourself, and others, at work:

  1. 360 Reviews - ep. 76
  2. The Kolbe - ep. 77
  3. CliftonStrengths - ep. 78
  4. The DiSC - ep. 79
  5. Fascinate - ep. 80

When you listen in to episode 81 you'll hear Heidi sharing how she's applied what she's learned from her personality assessments (some of them being new ones you haven't heard of before!) both at work with her team and clients and in her relationships as a spouse and parent.

You'll also get some additional insight on life as a Type 7 with that 8 wing energy that you can use to narrow down your own Enneagram type or better understand someone in your life with that 7 energy.

Listen in to hear more about Heidi's real life application of personality assessments and how she's using them to grow one bite at a time.

80. How to Fascinate with Your Personality feat. Madelyn Ridgeway | Type 6w5 [Personality Assessments at Work Series]29 Sep 202200:48:48

Do you have a good idea of how others see you?

With the Enneagram, a lot of what we uncover is about ourselves and other people.

But, how helpful would it be if there was a tool that gave you an additional perspective of how others see us and more specifically, how we fascinate them?

So fun, right?

That's exactly what you'll hear more about inside this conversation with CBE Companies Diversity Director, Personal Branding Strategist, and Certified Fascinate Advisor, Madelyn Ridgeway.

When you listen in you'll get the overview of the 7 Fascinate Archetypes to help you to start narrowing down your own:

  • The Innovation Archetype - uses the language of creativity and new ideas
  • The Passion Archetype - uses the language of relationships (buy-in)
  • The Power Archetype - uses the language of confidence
  • The Prestige Archetype - uses the language of excellence
  • The Trust Archetype - uses the language of stability
  • The Mystic Archetype - uses the language of listening
  • The Alert Archetype - uses the language of details

You'll also learn how to start to apply your dominant and secondary advantages to the work you do and the roles you have, and what you need to know about using your dormant advantage.

79. Building Better Relationships at Work Using DiSC with Nancy Marmolejo | Type 7 [Personality Assessments Series]22 Sep 202201:01:54

Would you describe your preferred working style as dominating, influencing, steady, or conscientious? Maybe a blend of two?

The DiSC assessment can compliment what you've learned about yourself through the Enneagram by sharing both validating insights and and new perspectives about your preferences and tendencies. Like the Enneagram, it should be used for dialogue, not a diagnosis.

To help us jumpstart that conversation and be able to use and apply the DiSC to our own personal growth journey and relationships at work, we have DiSC certified, leadership trainer, and owner of Talent and Genius, Nancy Marmolejo on the show today.

Inside Part 4 of our Personality Assessment Series, you'll learn about what DiSC is and the 4 main styles within the framework:

The D (Dominance) Style prioritizes getting immediate results, taking action, challenging themselves and others and is motivated by power and authority, competition, winning, and success (sound familiar Type 8s and 3s? :) )

The i (Influence) Style prioritizes expressing enthusiasm, taking action, encouraging collaboration and is motivated by social recognition, group activities, and friendly relationships (Type 7 anyone?))

The S (Steadiness) Style prioritizes giving support, maintaining stability, enjoying collaboration and is motivated by stable environments, sincere appreciation, cooperation, and opportunities to help (sensing some Type 2, 6, and 9 - What do you think?)

The C (Conscientiousness) Style prioritizes ensuring accuracy, maintaining stability, challenging assumptions and is motivated by opportunities to use expertise or gain knowledge and attention to quality (hearing some Type 1 and event Type 5 in there?).

The only Enneagram type that I didn't see a direct DiSC Style correlation with was the Type 4 (which you probably appreciate :)), but what do you think? Where do you see this energy show up on the DiSC?

And more importantly, where do you see yourself? How does that overlap (or not!) with your Enneagram type?

When it comes to data and information, are you a bottom line person who prefers a quick answer or do you like to get (and share) all the details?

To accomplish a goal and get through a project, do you prefer a lot of structure and processes or do you more often find yourself winging it along the way and more flexible in your approach?

Do you have a lot of ideas that you jump into and experiment with or are you more deliberate, protecting what's already working and doing your best to remove uncertainty?

Just like with the Enneagram, there are no wrong answers. This is information that the Kolbe gives us understand about ourselves to help know our natural gifts and preferences for solving challenges and taking action.

Inside this interview with Elizabeth Cook, Certified Kolbe Consultant she walks us through the 4 areas of our work style we can gain a deeper understanding of:

3) Quick Start - your method for dealing with risk and uncertainty

4) Implementer (Demonstrator) - all about your deal with physical space and tangible items

76. Getting to Know Yourself Better Using 360 Reviews, Tara Nesser, Type 7 [Personality Assessments for Work Series]01 Sep 202200:45:06

Experts tell us that our unconscious mind makes a majority of our decisions. Which means, most of the time, we're cruising through life on autopilot.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing.

It would be impossible to be constantly "awake" to every thought, feeling, and behavior. We absolutely need autopilot turned on. The problem happens when our autopilot never gets a tune up.

Left unchecked, these blind spots, or unconscious biases, can end up steering your life, possibly in a direction you don't want to be going in.

Identifying these blind spots is the first step to course correcting, but doing it on your can be difficult - hence the name - "blind spot." :) So, what do you do then?

Getting feedback from others can be tremendously helpful in uncovering where you might be running on autopilot in a way that's not serving you, and also what strengths you have you may not realize you have.

Our guide today for learning more about how to get feedback from trusted sources and conduct a productive 360 Review (and how absolutely not to do one), is Level Up Talent CEO and Founder, Tara Nesser.

Inside this interview with Tara you'll learn so much about being a new or emerging leader including:

  • common challenges new leaders face and how to navigate around them
  • the importance of self-awareness as a growing leader
  • why she focuses on both strategy and  mindset in her leadership coaching
  • what life and leading is like with the Type 7 energy

192. When Strategy Meets Strength: Type 5 and Type 8 Coworker Chemistry Explained30 Aug 202500:44:07

What happens when you pair the bold intensity of a Type 8 with the thoughtful reserve of a Type 5? That's what we're talking about today!

In this episode of Enneagram at Work, we explore how Type 5s (The Strategist) and Type 8s (The Commander) work together in the workplace. While they may look like opposites on the surface, their differences can be exactly what makes them powerful collaborators...if they learn how to navigate the friction points.

Here’s what you can expect in this episode:

  • Why Type 5s and 8s respect each other’s independence and competence
  • How they balance sustainable strategy with decisive action
  • The biggest friction points that show up around pace, energy, and control
  • How instinctual biases (Preserving, Navigating, Transmitting) add an extra layer of chemistry - and why people sometimes confuse these two types when typing themselves

If you’ve ever felt pulled between being the quiet observer or the bold decision-maker, or you’re managing these styles on your team, this episode will give you a practical look at turning tension into teamwork.

👉 Did you know coworker chemistry is one of the biggest factors in team performance? At Enneagram MBA, we help leaders and teams use the Enneagram to improve communication, reduce friction, and deepen connection. Learn more about our workshops at enneagrammba.com

75. Leading From Where You Are with Fan Experience Consultant and Career Coach, Jahaan Blake, Type 225 Aug 202201:00:02

When you hear the word leader what comes to mind?

Is it a person in a power suit leading from the front of a room?

Maybe someone leading a big team, inside a big corporation?

Leading as an owner of a business?

Leading a large community online or from a big stage?

I'm going to guess, if you're like a lot of people, the initial image wasn't of yourself.

Maybe because you don't have the title or a team yet, or you don't own a business, or because you don't have "that many" people in your community yet. Or maybe people you just don't feel like you have the personality for it.

Whatever the reason you may not feel like a leader (yet!), inside today's episode you'll learn how to start operating with a leader mentality and leading from wherever you are this minute.

Our guest today is Jahaan Blake - fan experience consultant in the sport and entertainment industry, career coach to high-achieving women wanting to land leadership positions in that industry, and host of the Game of Her Own podcast.

Listen in to hear about:

  • the 4 traits of a successful leader
  • how to start leading from where you are
  • leading as an introvert
  • and Jahaan's personal experience leading as an Enneagram Type 2

71. Am I an Enneagram Type 3 or Type 7?12 Jul 202200:16:22

The Enneagram Type 3 is known as the Achiever, the Performer, or the Role- Model, striving to feel outstanding, accomplished, and successful.

The Enneagram Type 7 is known as the Multi-tasker or the Enthusiast, striving to feel excited, satisfied, and fulfilled.

These two types are common "look-alikes" that can get confused by their energetic personalities, future focus, forward-moving energy, and positive outlook on life. They both love a good plan, but for different reasons, and both can juggle multiple projects and can get bored easily.

There's also some key differences that you'll learn about in this episode, including each type's:

  • effort around focusing
  • motives behind planning
  • relationship with options and limits
  • ability to see a project through
  • core driver behind their job or business

If you know of someone else that might be helped by this, please share!

70. Am I an Enneagram Type 1 or Type 5?05 Jul 202200:17:10

The Enneagram Type 1 is known as the Improver, the Reformer, or the Perfectionist, striving to feel perfect, good, right, and correct.

The Enneagram Type 5 is known as the Expert, the Observer, or the Investigator, striving to feel self-sufficient, capable, and informed.

If you're still struggling to narrow down your dominant Enneagram type between these two, this video will give you additional insight into some of the key differences, including how each of them:

  • handles conflict
  • manages stress
  • makes decisions
  • sets boundaries (or doesn't...)
  • and experiences feelings

69. Behind the Scenes of the Enneagram MBA Makeover: Using Your Enneagram Type to Align Your Business or Career 30 Jun 202200:41:54

Have you been thinking about a change in your career? Or a pull in a new direction with your business?

Inside this unofficial Season 2 finale...

For the curious, you'll hear about some of the reasoning behind the recent changes to the Enneagram MBA brand - from the colors, to new offers, from a new website, to the social media strategy.

And for anyone looking to make changes in their own career, business, or life in general, tune in to hear about the specific pieces of my type (7) and subtype (Social or Navigating) I used to let go of some old ways and more confidently embrace and move forward in a more aligned direction.

I hesitate to say "new" or "pivot" because these changes feel more like a natural evolution, but the insight I took into consideration with the Enneagram helping me hold up a mirror, made me more confident about the changes and the timing.

Even if we have different Enneagram types and subtypes, the intention for this episode is

 A) give you insight into the brand and what to expect so you can decide to stick around or not (of course I hope you do!) and
B) to further study your own dominant type and subtype to see what clarity and direction they might offer in your own upcoming changes.

Was this helpful? I'd love to hear from you! Connect with me on Instagram or Linkedin and let me know anything that resonated or that you'd add to the conversation!

68. Am I an Enneagram Type 7 or Type 9?28 Jun 202200:16:53

The Enneagram Type 7 is known as the Multi-tasker or the Enthusiast, striving to feel excited, satisfied, and fulfilled.

The Enneagram Type 9 is known as the Peacemaker or the Harmonizer, striving to feel peaceful and calm, both internally and with the world around them.

They are two of the most optimistic types on the Enneagram, typically choosing to avoid hard feelings and difficult conversations, but for different reasons. Both of these types tend to embellish reality more than the other types, perceiving things better than they really are.

But, with those similarities, there are also key differences that you'll hear about in this episode to help you narrow it down between the two, including:

  • the different type of optimism each type expresses
  • how they view interruptions
  • handling distractions
  • their orientation to time
  • getting their needs met

191: Who's Teaching the Enneagram Teachers? A 2025 IEA Conference Recap feat. Demetrius "D" Parker, Trust Leadership Collective23 Aug 202501:01:00

The Enneagram is everywhere - from yoga retreats to C-suite boardrooms, therapy sessions to prison programs. But who’s guiding the guides? What trends, challenges, and conversations are shaping the future of this powerful tool?

In this episode, I'm joined by Demetrius Parker, a leadership development expert and Enneagram MBA facilitator, for a behind-the-scenes look at the 2025 International Enneagram Association Conference in Minneapolis. It wasn’t just a conference, it was an experience. From poetry and DJ sets to neuroscience and relationship sessions, we talk about what’s changing in the Enneagram world and what still needs protecting.

We talk about:

  • What made the IEA Conference feel like a full-body experience, not just a professional event
  • Conversations with Enneagram thought leaders like Russ Hudson, Suzanne Stabile, and Mario Sikora
  • How the Enneagram is expanding beyond its spiritual roots and into boardrooms, government offices, even the military
  • The importance of doing your homework before teaching the Enneagram
  • How to use the Enneagram as a path, not an identity

Whether you're an experienced facilitator, an Enneagram enthusiast, or a leader looking to apply personality insight in your team, you’ll walk away with inspiration and insight from the people shaping what’s next in this space.

65. Life as a Type 7 Entrepreneur with Natalia Hernandez, Enneagram and Relationship Coach09 Jun 202200:29:46

Are you constantly getting new ideas?
Do you love a good brainstorm session?
Do you have a natural ability to put a positive spin on almost anything?
Are you always seeking out the next exciting adventure or new experience?

If so, you might be an Enneagram Type 7.

Sevens are known as the Enthusiasts, the Optimists, the Multi-taskers or the Visionaries.

They are innovative, enthusiastic, funny, witty, inspirational, creative, big-picture thinkers, charming, and action-takers.

Sometimes that same energy can lead to being impulsive, irresponsible, coming across as shallow, having a short attention span,  needing to always be stimulated, and having a lack of commitment or follow-through (you know,  just in case something more exciting comes along).

Natalia Hernandez is our guest today is a relationship coach and life coach specifically for Type 7s. Inside this episode, you'll get to hear her personal experience of life as a Type 7 entrepreneur - what's helped her be successful and what can get in her way.

She shared several great resources that you can find below, along with getting connected with her and learning more about how to work with her.

Natalia is also a relationship coach and in next week's episode we zoom out the conversation to talking about all 9 Enneagram types and one challenge they each face in communication and in love based on that type, so definitely be sure to come back!
