André-Michel Ferrari is a Reliability Engineer who specializes in Reliability Analytics and Modeling which are fundamental to improving asset performance and output in industrial operations. He has approximately 30 years of industrial experience mainly in Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, and Quality Systems Implementation. His experience includes world-class companies in the Brewing, Semiconductor, and Oil & Gas industries in Africa, Europe and North America. Throughout his career, André-Michel has strived to provide his customers and peers with practical and effective solutions to improve asset performance, optimize financial spend and improve maintenance strategies. He has published multiple articles on Reliability Engineering Processes and been a regular conference speaker over the last 10 years. He has also mentored countless new engineers and is a passionate contributor to the “Women in STEM” programs.


André-Michel is a Professional Engineer based in Alberta, Canada as well as a Certified Reliability Engineer with the American Society for Quality. His academic credentials include an M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from École d’Ingénieurs de Marseille, France (1994) and an M.Eng. in Engineering Management from the University of Alberta (2010). Life Pumps in Senegal20 Nov 202300:43:45

Charli has Sam Lowry and Dwight Leeper on this week to talk about pumps in Senegal and how they continued to give of their skills even in retirement. 

Sam Lowry was born in South Weymouth, Massachusetts in 1952 and then spent his childhood and early youth in Cincinnati, Ohio. Currently a retired engineer living in Huntsville, Alabama he joined Rotary International in 2018 as a member of  the Huntsville Rotary Club for the opportunity to be involved with volunteer work.  

Sam has a Bachelor of Arts in Engineering and Applied Physics from Harvard University, a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a PhD in Engineering Sciences from the University of Tennessee Space Institute.

After service as a Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps, he arrived in Huntsville in 1981  from Cleveland, Ohio to work as a NASA engineer in the MSFC  Analysis Branch during the early years of the Space Shuttle.

In 1991 he joined CFD Research Corporation, where he spent 14 years helping develop a class of computer software tools known as Computational Fluid Dynamics.

After CFD Research Corporation, he spent a year as a full-time science teacher at Lee High School and then as a volunteer for the next seven years teaching their AP Physics class. 

Following his full year as a teacher at Lee, he went back to the private sector as CEO and co-founder of Simerics. Simerics develops simulation software for modeling pumps and fluid systems used in a variety of applications, including the oil and gas, water, and automotive industries.  

Having retired from Simerics in 2016 , he enjoys a mix of consulting, travel, recreation and volunteer work, including serving as one of the leads on a recently approved Global Grant to introduce deep-water hand pumps into rural communities in Senegal, working with the West Chester PA Rotary Club as the International Sponsor and the Dakar Soleil  SN Rotary Club as the Host.

This year, he is very much looking forward to helping provide reliable access to clean water for  rural communities in Senegal under the Rotary  Club  Deep-Water Pumps for Senegal  project. 

 Dwight Leeper's philosophy, borrowed from Scouts, is “to leave the world a better place than we found it.” He  began his Rotary journey in D7510 NJ in 2002 with the Fanwood Scotch Plains Club. There he served two terms as Membership Chair and two as President. He  served the District with a three-year term as Assistant Governor, as Deputy Governor, Vice Governor and was District Governor 2012-13 during which he led a U.S./Canada NID in Pakistan and subsequently hosted a GSE team from Pakistan. He is a graduate of the Leadership Institute, a multiple Paul Harris fellow, a member of the Paul Harris Society and have been a facilitator at multi-district PETS. He chaired a District Long Range Planning Committee for two years and joined a District team to Nepal, He joined the West Chester Rotary Club in 2015.  With our District, I have been a DG trainer.  Most recently, he has participated in a Rotary school project in Leogane, Haiti.

The Coolest in Pump Testing and Condition Monitoring06 Nov 202300:21:39

We're kicking November off a bang as Ares Pangoulias joins Charli on the pod.

Ares Panagoulias directs the sales, operations, and engineering of IIOT Condition Monitoring products and services for Hydro in the Hydro Centaur business unit. He works directly with customersto analyze data to improve rotating equipment maintenance strategies, increase availability, and reduce downtime in the Nuclear, Power Utility, Pipeline, and Oil & Gas industries.

In addition, Ares is responsible for operations and management of all functions related to testing of high energy pumps, primarily for the Nuclear (safety and non‐safety related), Power Utility, Pipeline, and Oil & Gas industries at Hydro’s Pump Test Lab. He has contributed to numerous internal and external R&D projects, including ongoing efforts to improve condition monitoring equipment in field installations.

An Engineer's Path to Product Management30 Oct 202300:21:31

This week on the Pod, Charli has Mark Connolly on to talk about his path.

Currently, Mark serves as Global Product Manager of mechanical packing and gaskets at A.W. Chesterton, a world leader in helping process industry companies and manufacturers improve the reliability and efficiency of their process platforms.  As a global product manager, Mark works closely with manufacturing, marketing, product development, and field product specialists to ensure current and new products continue to provide world-class solutions to fluid sealing needs across industries.

Mark joined Chesterton in 2017 as a Process Engineer in the Operational Excellence team.  As a part of the Operations team, he was a key member in developing process improvements and quality controls within manufacturing.

Prior to working at Chesterton, he worked as a manufacturing engineer at RBC Bearings, an aerospace bearing manufacturer in Fairfield, CT.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University.  He is a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean Black Belt.   

Mark is an avid college football fan that also enjoys skiing, running, and playing competitive ultimate frisbee with his wife, Jenna.

Prior to this role, Poliner held global general management roles with the Thermo King business of Ingersoll Rand. Before joining Thermo King, she held leadership roles at Caterpillar, Inc., where she served in positions of increasing importance in general management, marketing, sales, operations, distribution, and aftermarket and connected solutions. Charli has Jeremy Drury on this week, some listeners may remember Jeremy from Reliable Plant.

During the 2010's, Jeremy served as President of IoT Diagnostics, a Midwestern Industrial IoT company that focused primarily on sensors and predictive maintenance on the factory floor. His hardware and software included monitoring of pumps, fluid health, filtration, lubrication, and more for both Fortune level companies and regional businesses. He is most passionate about trying to simplify the mess that is Industrial IoT and help customers and vendors alike make the best decisions inside a world of confusing jargon, empty-promises, and never-ending pilot projects. Jeremy's a long-time IoT partner and vocal leader within Noria's Reliable Plant family and has also spoken and been featured in more than 25 conferences and magazines. While no longer serving full-time in the Industrial IoT space, Jeremy remains active in the conversation with customers and providers, as he painstakingly continues to bridge those worlds together.

Brian Levy is a Principal Engineer with over 20 years of experience in water reclamation and stormwater management.  He has been with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago since 2003.

He received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI.  He received a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois and is also a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture.

Brian supervises the treatment plant operations for the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant (WRP).  The Stickney WRP is one of the largest wastewater treatment facilities in the world.  It serves residents in the central part of Chicago and 46 other suburban communities within a 260-square-mile area.  The Stickney WRP currently serves over 2.3 million people, cleans an average of 700 million gallons of wastewater per day, and can treat 1.4 billion gallons per day.

 Bennett Fitch is the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) for Noria Corporation. His years of experience at Noria includes director of development for Lubrication Program Development (LPD) services and LubePM, the lubrication program management platform. Additionally, he serves as a senior technical consultant and is an instructor for Noria’s Machinery Lubrication and Oil Analysis courses with an interactive, yet relaxed approach to engage his audience. His expertise is established from years within oil analysis and machinery lubrication as the core of his career. He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology with a concentration in applied tribology and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tulsa. Jess is a rock loving geologist turned social media marketer. Her degree is in Geological Engineering from Montana Tech in Butte, Montana, with an emphasis in mining and a minor in geophysics. While living in Butte she discovered a passion for the mining industry, its rough history, and its bright future. During her time working at the Stillwater Mine in Montana, she continued to develop this enthusiasm for the industry, and began creating content to share it with others through social media. After a case of career burnout, she turned her whole career around and took a job as the Head of New Media for a mining based tech company, Prospector. In what spare time she has between work, travel, and her two dogs, she runs her own hard hat sticker company (Mine Design Creations) and is starting small social media management and content business for industrial companies.

This week Charli has Benjamin Moss on for an enthusiastic conversation!

Benjamin is a self-proclaimed water nerd. Currently he leads the Garver’s water operations in Georgia and manages a variety of water projects for his clients. His civil engineering career started with travels across the country where he has visited every major city in the United States and most of the others ones too! He then moved into the municipal industry where he designed, helped construct, started-up, and operated large water/wastewater projects. He is a graduate of Southern Polytechnic State University and Kennesaw State University. After receiving his master’s degree he served for 5 fives years as a professor where he taught Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics Laboratory (while consulting). Benjamin also currently serves as the chair of The Water Treatment Committee for the Georgia American Water Works Association and the Georgia Association of Water Professionals. He has been an active member of the Pumps Committee and GAWP in general. An adventurer at heart he and his wonderful wife (also a water engineer) and almost 4-yr son are his expedition crew these days. They are always out in nature every chance they get.

Charli has Shae Eichele on this week.

Shae is the marketing coordinator for The HEH Group. During her time with The HEH Group, she has helped grow their social media following by over 500% and run multiple successful digital campaigns. Most notably during IMTS this past year. Her team shot, edited, and produced 17 different videos for their OEMs, one of the only companies to create this volume of content. Shae also works hard to build her personal social media following and utilizes it to promote The HEH Group and be an ambassador for the industry. 

Her short-term career goals are to continue to grow the company's social presence and learn more about digital ads and SEO. She is also launching a platform called Manufacturing Muscle, a YouTube podcast encouraging the young generation to consider manufacturing as a career. Long term, she looks forward to growing her skill set and learning more about management, decision-making, and business development.

Projetech currently leads the category as an award-winning IBM Business Partner, amongst many other industry accolades.

Cameron Rapoport has been with The Detection Group since 2021, and with Watts Water Technologies since 2017.

Cameron is a member of the Boston Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Chapter, where he participates in the Engineering and Emerging Professionals committees, and leads training on water damage risk mitigation best practices and technologies.

In his previous position on the Watts product management team, he was recognized industry wide for his expertise in Backflow technology and applications, and was often be found leading technical and application based Backflow training for Watts customers and industry trade associations. Prior to that, he worked with AW Chesterton as an engineer and product manager, focusing on pump, valve, and flange sealing along with pumping system optimization.

Cameron holds a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

Cheryl has 40 years of leadership and management experience in manufacturing. She has held leadership positions with industry giants like GM, Mazda, Ford, and Lear Corporation and led teams in the U.S., Mexico, Canada and throughout Europe and Asia. Cheryl spent 19 years as the President and CEO of Hope Global, a manufacturing company with over 2,000 employees and operations in the U.S., Mexico, Czech Republic, China, and Brazil. During that period, Hope Global grew five times in revenue and became a Tier II leader in the Automotive Industry. In 2019, Cheryl joined Taco as President of Taco Family of Companies, North America. In March of 2020, Cheryl was promoted to CEO of Taco Family of Companies Global operations. Since taking the helm, Taco has doubled in revenue, expanded the workforce by 350 team members, acquired a new business unit in England and have planned global operational facility expansions of over 243,000 sq, ft. in the next 3 years. 

 Cheryl has received awards over her career that include Providence Business News Rhode Island Business Women’s Career Achievement Award (2022) and Leadership Award (2001, 2014), New England Business Woman of the Year (2014), Mentor of the Year PBN RI (2016), Crain’s Women in Manufacturing of the Year (2018), Trailblazer in Business / Cheryl Watkins Snead Award (2018). She holds two Honorary Doctorates from New England Institute of Technology for Humane Letters and Bryant University for Business. 

Her community work includes being a member of the Board of Governors for the Rhode Island Commodores, Advisory Board Member for the University of Rhode Island, member of the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association Advisory Board, and a Board member of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce. Cheryl has also served in the past as a Trustee (Secretary and Chair of Student Affairs) for Bryant University, Board of Governors, and a Trustee of the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council. She has also served on the boards of Rhode Island Economic Development, Governor’s Workforce Board, the Rhode Island Hospital Foundation, and the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce.

Bronson is the Global Fugitive Emissions Director, MagDrive Technologies, he has experience in the environmental field focused on air quality compliance inthe refining, petrochemical, and natural gas processing industries in the United States, China, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. He has experience in fugitive emission source Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) monitoring, tagging, and database management, including Process and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) review. Bronson is familiar with VV, VVa, GGG, GGGa, KKK, QQQ, MON, HON and worked with multiple facilities to develop LDAR programs including those subject to LDAR consent decree requirements. Bronson has is also one of Sage’s LDAR Consent Decree (CD) and Comprehensive Environmental Assesment (CEA) Auditors. Bronson has also preformed Highly Reactive Volialte Organic Compound (HRVOC) audits for various facilities. Bronson is also familiar with certain provisions of the Benzene Waste Operations NESHAP (BWON) standard including required sampling, training and lab auditing. Bronson has also helped with Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) for oil and gas production companies. Bronson has also worked with the refining industry in Texas that have received a section 114 letter. Bronson has also worked with the refining industry in producing Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC). Bronson is also familiar with air permitting including MACT and Title V. Bronson also is one of HSE-U trainers for LDAR Essentials, Advanced LDAR and LDAR for Experts.

Mike Franco is the Director of Global Biopharma Sales at PSG Biotech, part of PSG, a Dover Company. He began his career at PSG in 2017, serving as sales manager for the Americas. His career has spanned several companies, starting as a research assistant for the Center for Space Physics at Boston University. From there, he became an applications engineer with Panametrics Inc. before joining GE Power Systems in 2002 as a commercial engineer. His time with GE spanned a decade, working in various managerial and leadership roles at GE Industrial, GE Energy Services and GE Oil & Gas. In 2014, he joined Ametek as its regional sales manager, serving in that role until 2017. 

Gillian Harding-Moore serves as the director of Global Marketing at PSG Biotech & Quantex, part of PSG, a Dover Company. Having an entrepreneurial mindset and big-picture creative ideas has defined her career, which in early years, included Saatchi & Saatchi as its art director. She held a similar role at Euros RSCG before founding her own branding and digital agency, Fuel Creativity Ltd (FCL). 10 years later, having successfully served clients including GSK and Tata Steel, she joined one of her long-standing clients, Fashion GPS as its managing director of Europe in 2011. In 2018, Gillian joined another long-standing client, Quantex, the recyclable pump brand now owned by PSG. Since the acquisition, Gillian has worked closely with PSG upper management teams in charge of the marketing communications for Malema during its acquisition in 2022, and has headed up the consolidation and rebrand of PSG Biotech.

After completing his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at University of Illinois at Chicago, Tomas began his career at Yeomans Chicago Corporation/Grundfos as a Project Engineer.  After 6 years in the pump industry Tomas went on to work in the industrial fan industry as a New Product Development Manager.  In 2015, the opportunity came up to be part of the foundation to build Hidrostal here in the states and he seized the opportunity.  His main focus is on overseeing the engineering and sales.  In this role his focus is on providing support to customers, designing new products, leading projects and developing internal tools to increase efficiency and productivity.  Tomas enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors as much as possible.

Holly Montrose is the Vice President - HVACR Channel Sales, Drive Products Division at ABB, Inc.; a leading global technology company that energizes the transformation of society and industry to achieve a more productive, sustainable future.

Holly joined ABB in April 2021 as the West Regional Sales Manager for HVAC Drives and after seven quick months, she was promoted to a newly created role of Director of Sales where she was responsible for cultivating a proactive sales approach, communicating the voice of customer back to the factory, and continuing the sales growth strategy. She brings years of significant expertise in technical sales across multiple industries such as HVAC, healthcare, manufacturing, environmental, and chemical.  

Prior to joining ABB, Holly Montrose was a known talent in the industry.  She succeeded working for a small competitor, where she didn’t have the tools or advantages of a large organization. She approached the role with the mind of a student and taught herself about the HVAC industry and the technology used to support it. 

Holly has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with a focus in polymers, and a minor in Business Administration. She believes that her studies in the sciences has been a tremendous assets to her career. It has given her the tools to approach technical sales with a systematic approach while constantly driving for the best solution.

While newer to the Leadership role, Holly is no stranger to being a leader. She has spent majority of her life practicing and participating in the dance world. She has multiple national titles, Choreography awards, and countless dancers who have become a part of her family. She believes that every person deserves to learn in a manner that supports their growth, and she applies this belief to her leadership role at ABB.

S. Navy officer and was a qualified operating engineering officer.
