Moisés Chiullán and Phil West record their first podcast of 2025, delving into the Brandon Vàzquez rumor, the Ilie Sánchez signing, the Besard Šabović rumor (including a fun fact about his reality TV past), discussion of outgoing VerDos players, and a little bit of discussion about what the new home kit might include in its design. 

In this episode, Moisés Chuillán and Phil West serve two masters: An Austin FC II team who looks as if it could possibly make the playoffs, and an Austin FC team whose playoff odds have dwindled to 4% on Saturday night according to one nerdy site. They talk about VerDos' win over DynamoDos and Verde's loss to Toronto FC, ponder Josh Wolff's future, and do way more examination of the MLS Next Pro table than you've done lately. 

Moisés Chiullan and Phil West indulge in a little bit of happiness about how the Austin FC match against Nashville went before delving into issues that have come to light in the loss to Vancouver. Those included the resultant gloomier playoff picture, how Sebastián Driussi hasn't scored a goal in 11 straight league matches, and why Oleksandr Svatok is still waiting to play his first MLS game. They also get into some weirdness from the Nashville match they haven't gotten to explore yet. 

Heat is one of the topics of the day, as it typically is in August in Austin, especially for one Oleksandr Svatok. In this episode, Moisés Chiullan and Phil West talk about Svatok's acclimation to the heat (as well as when he might play), Brendan Hines-Ike's intriguing comments on how Verde defends, and since there's finally a game to talk about again, they delve into Nashville SC a bit. Also: toenails and hot wings! 

After a brief hiatus to coincide with Austin FC's exit from Leagues Cup, Moisés Chiullán and Phil West are back with some Leagues Cup observations, including ways to make the tournament shorter, better, and partially hosted by Mexican teams. They also walk through each of Austin FC's last nine games to predict whether or not the team makes the playoffs, and assess the summer transfer window even though it ended a little underwhelmingly. 

It's a quasi-emergency for Moisés Chiullán and Phil West, who decided to record on a Wednesday following Austin FC's Leagues Cup victories against Pumas UNAM and CF Monterrey. They discuss what this means for the remainder of the regular season, what could happen in the Leagues Cup knockout rounds, what to glean from news about the player that Austin FC didn't get in the summer transfer window, and a theory on who might exit the Austin FC roster next. Also, Phil was recording in the vicinity of five dogs, so that's explored in its own inimitable way.

While that doesn't necessarily excite everyone, Moisés Chiullán and Phil West discuss Austin FC's matchups with Pumas UNAM and CF Monterrey, the controversy surrounding Leagues Cup and Open Cup and whether they can co-exist, the kerfuffle over Dani Pereira and the proposed fan boycott (and the perils of the reporter becoming part of the story), and a brief detour into Canada's soccer drones. 

This week, Phil West and Moisés Chiullán discuss rough matches against Seattle Sounders FC and FC Dallas, stadium food in Frisco, things Alex Ring said (and why we still like talking to him), Osman Bukari's first experience with jollof rice in Austin, and some Wolff Out matters (but maybe not in the way that you think.)

High off Portugal's exit from the Euros at the hands of their beloved France, Phil West and Moisés Chiullán discuss the recent loss to Sporting Kansas City and the offensive woes that were further revealed, what lies in wait Saturday night with Austin FC's match against NYCFC, and then they take a detour into Gregg Berhalter and the U.S. men's national team before taking further detours into clack fans and a YouTube channel run by precocious children. 

This week, Phil West and Moisés Chiullán talk about the Osman Bukari welcome party, how to correctly pronounce Osman Bukari, Austin nightclubs that Austin FC could use for future welcome parties, some secrets that Rodolfo Borrell divulged about acquiring the trio of new players, Josh Wolff's first rule of coaching, whether Peter Vermes might someday be coaching 11 cockroaches in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and which VerDos players might be called up now that Alonso Ramirez can't be. 

In this episode, Moisés Chiullán and Phil West look at Austin FC's 2025 schedule and discuss what immediately jumps out to them, including seven league matches in the month of May alone. They also talk about Verde's three new assistant coaches who are all 30somethings, Spanish, and attractive, and talk about about the league just casually dropping each team's GAM totals as if to mock all the hard-working nerds that had been calculating their favorite club's GAM themselves. They also talk about a possible new VerDos signing named Vlad. This week, Phil West and Moisés Chiullán discuss the wisdom of going to five in the back to close out matches, Matthew McConaughey's "bottle it" tweet, Josh Wolff's need for "firepower," and share some early impressions about how Copa America might shape up. 

In a special bonus mailbag edition, Phil West and Moisés Chiullán cover the Bukari and Desler signings in some detail, revisit the fun Miguel Borja rumors from this past January, predict how Rodolfo Borrell will celebrate once the roster's been scrubbed of Claudio Reyna contracts, and get into the feelings of being a soccer fan. (Note: This was recorded on Monday afternoon, and finally polished to a fine podcast gem on Wednesday morning.)

This week, Moises Chiullan joins Phil West to talk about Austin FC head coach Josh Wolff brightening at the mere mention of Speedbump (the Austin FC armadillo), the forthcoming 2025 MLS All-Star Game in Austin, the upcoming match against Sporting Kansas City on absurdly short rest, some of what we learned about the squad after 2024's first MLSPA Christmas, and our thoughts about a really nice open letter than Austin FC sporting director Rodolfo Borrell shared with fans.
