Being able to call elk is an absolute GAME CHANGER! So how is it that almost 100% of elk hunters in September will be carrying an elk call of some kind and yet the success rate will be around 10% across the West nationwide? Elk decoys are extremely effective in the right situation. But what is the right situation? You are in a partner setup and there he is! Your partner is about 50 yards in front of you in shooting position. Only 100 yards out from your partner you can see the tips of his horns as he begins to come over the rise. Your heart starts racing! He comes over the rise in clear view, stops and belts an earth shaking bugle! And then...he locks up. He is just standing there looking directly in your direction.
