| Everything To Guppy 1032: Monster Blitz Pt. 82 | 07 Oct 2025 | 01:07:50 | |
I don't know what to tell you, a lot of this one is about Final Fantasy Tactics and Roger Rabbit.
| Abject Suffering 630: Yo Noid! 2 | 06 Oct 2025 | 00:33:45 | |
Yo Noid! 2 is a comedy game that expands on the adventures of the Noid as he hops and bops to fight for his continuing relevance. It’s a fine platformer, but boy is the story and humor dated at this point! We also talk about Hatsune Miku, whether or not Tablet is bread, and expression vs. performance.
| [PREVIEW] Unfilmable 80: The Thing | 24 Sep 2025 | 00:05:00 | |
Your eyes don't betray you. This isn't some kind of Thing-ified clone of our Bonefireside Chat episode. We reference The Thing a lot and we figured it was time we repay our respects for this legitimate Horror classic. So many modern films owe a debt to The Thing that it seemed unfair that we had not officially covered it on our horror movie podcast. Join us down in Antarctic for a most bone-chilling tale. Next Month: Weapons (dir. Zach Cregger, 2025)
| Watch Out for Fireballs! 478: The Last Door Season 2 | 05 Jun 2025 | 01:42:10 | |
We found a few more doors to check. The Last Door returns with a few more episodes to show off it's unique lo-fi adventure game style. While we're still fans, the second game doesn't work for us quite as much as the first. Still lots of cool stuff to talk about though!
| [PREVIEW] Bonfireside Chat 238: Nokstella, Eternal City | 04 Dec 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
This week we resume Ranni's path, heading through Renna's Rise and finding that she has turned herself into a much smaller doll. After we help her fashion an acorn into a house, we head our third and final Eternal City, Nokstella, on the hunt for the Baleful Shadow... A wolf-man assassin sent by the Two Fingers to halt Ranni's mutiny.
| Best Quality Vacuum 5: Gray Matter | 03 Dec 2022 | 01:04:14 | |
This week we learn more about Walt's past when we meet Elliot and Gretchen Schwartz, his former colleagues and business partners. The problem? Walt left the company, because of pride, and the Schwartzes became extremely rich. Now, Elliot is offering to pay for Walt's treatment, and once again, Walt's pride will cause things to go horribly. Additionally, Badger shoots Jesse with a crossbow. We would like to thank Gwen Static for composing our theme song, and Trent Peters for creating our great podcast art.
| The Level 437: The Weedle in the Weeds | 02 Dec 2022 | 01:48:01 | |
Kole, Ben, David, and Jala talk about Pokemon Scarlet, The Case of the Golden Idol, Atari 50, and much more! The Grind:

| Watch Out for Fireballs! 378: Torment: Tides of Numenera Part One | 01 Dec 2022 | 03:22:08 | |
What is the value of one game? There are big shoes to fill and then there are comically huge shoes that can be made into houses for little old ladies. That was the job of Tides of Numenera, an excellent short story compilation that fails to capture the emotional resonance of it's predecessor. Here us talk about the generalities and Sagus Cliffs in this episode before hitting the end game next week! This episode is brought to you by Duckstream! duckfeed.tv/duckstream
| [PREVIEW] Watch Out for Fireballs! Dispatch Roundup: Q4 2022 | 01 Dec 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
In this quarterly special episode, we gather up some leftover questions and topic prompts and answer them so they'll stay answered. Topics include overwhelming games, the ethics and effects of emulation, lonely games, and many, many more.
| Abject Suffering 481: Seymour Goes to Hollywood | 28 Nov 2022 | 00:35:29 | |
Who is Seymour, and where is he going? What does he want when he gets there? We can only answer one of these questions, but we barely care. Seymour catfished us, saying it was a game about a little potato man, only for us to learn that it's actually another horrible Dizzy game with the serial numbers filed off.
| Everything to Guppy 883: Tooth And Nail - Binge Eater - Guppy's Eye - Crystal Key | 28 Nov 2022 | 01:13:52 | |
This week's episodes: Tooth And Nail, Binge Eater, Guppy's Eye, and Crystal Key.
| [PREVIEW] Bonfireside Chat 237: Deeproot Depths (Part 2) | 27 Nov 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
We last left off in the Nameless Eternal City, casting our eyes upward to where the roots of the depths could take us. Today, we climb those roots and find ourselves in the shadow of Godwyn, the first of the demigods to die. And there, we resolve the fates of some other Tarnished, namely Fia and D's twin, in order to gain a new mending rune and open a possible ending for the game.
| Days of Future Cast 339: I Would Immediately Sacrifice Colossus | 26 Nov 2022 | 00:55:53 | |
We're back X-Friends! This week we're covering a slight three issues of Uncanny X-Force (8-10). Apologies for my voice on the podcast, I finally got the virus that's been plagueing the world for the last three years. Reminder that you can read along with and ahead of the show by subscribing to Marvel Unlimited (we don't get paid for you doing that, so it's not an ad, it's just a cool service). You can also use Comixology, or buy the trades from your local comic book shop (the preferred method, if we're being honest). Be sure to check with your local library to see if they have them there! You can find one using this site Music by Gary, podcast art by our friend Wayne
| Watch Out for Fireballs! Dispatch: Oops! All Questions 2 | 24 Nov 2022 | 01:55:33 | |
We had intended to make this month's topic VR, but instead we said almost everything we wanted to say during the Half-Life: Alyx episode. So, instead, we take even more of your questions before reading your thoughts about Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, SUPERHOT, and Half-Life: Alyx. This episode's highlighted project is Waystar Corncob, a podcast that's about both I Think You Should Leave and Succession. And Gary was on a recent episode!
| Abject Suffering 612: Paperboy 64 | 03 Jun 2025 | 00:36:12 | |
Would you believe that the Paperboy game for the N64 would be one of the ugliest things we’ve covered for this show? It seems like that would be hard to accomplish, given the competition, but this game’s spindly polygonal horrors are genuinely unnerving.
| [PREVIEW] Unfilmable 45: Chernobyl | 23 Nov 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
How does an RBMK nuclear reactor blow up? We spend this extra-long episode of Unfilmable trying to find out, as we watch HBO's Chernobyl miniseries. While not categorized as a work of horror, it's impossible to not be terrified by what is shown. And the way the real-life events are fictionalized here and turned into a narrative pulls not only from horror film, but goes all the way back to Lovecraft and weird fiction more generally. So watch the miniseries if you haven't already, and come listen to us justify why it's one of the best works of horror ever made.
| Everything to Guppy 882: Tropicamide - Card Reading - Quints - Tainted Blue Baby | 22 Nov 2022 | 01:17:39 | |
This week's episodes: Tropicamide, Card Reading, Quints, and Tainted Blue Baby
| Abject Suffering 480: Simon the Sorcerer 2 | 21 Nov 2022 | 00:36:21 | |
Simon the Sorcerer is a rude teen who likes boobs, doesn't know what's happening around him, and never stops talking. This, his improbable second adventure, draws him back into the fantasy world because he can't stay out of containers designated for clothing. Is there zero joy to be had in a Simon the Sorcerer game? We don't know. But this one just never... stops... talking. Why should a joke ever end? It can just keep going. That's what we call value.
| [PREVIEW] Bonfireside Chat 236: Deeproot Depths (Part 1) | 20 Nov 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
While acting in the service of Ranni the Witch, we have uncovered a great deal about the Night of Black Knives... including the very weapon that did the deed. With the cursemark portion from Ranni's mortal body, we now turn toward D, Rogier, and Fia to learn where the other half of it went. This draws us deep underground to a ruined, nameless city with a thick miasma in the air. The stench of death.
| Best Quality Vacuum 4: Cancer Man | 19 Nov 2022 | 01:06:08 | |
Things had to slow down eventually, and with Krazy-8 out of the way it's time for a breather. Walt spends this episode dealing with the fallout from admitting that he has cancer, as Skyler tries to convince him that it's worth pursuing treatment no matter the cost. Meanwhile, Jesse is unable to stay in his plausibly haunted house, so he returns to a family that very much doesn't want him around. We would like to thank Gwen Static for composing our theme song, and Trent Peters for creating our great podcast art.
| The Level 436: Dissecting the Punks | 18 Nov 2022 | 02:11:33 | |

| [PREVIEW] Watch Out for Fireballs! 377: Half-Life: Alyx (Premium) | 17 Nov 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
The Watch Out For Fireballs has been silent on the topic of The Half Life for a while now but it's time to wake up and smell the ashes! (I know this is mixing vortigaunt and g-man speak, and I don't care!) Half Life Alyx is our first major foray into VR and not likely to be our last. Alyx is a great game for this because it's dedicated to being a full franchise entry, a return to form, with few compromises. Though it's a little long and your experience will likely vary (that's the nature of VR), this game is a breath of fresh air. Thank you Elliot!
| [PREVIEW] Exquisite Suffering 153: Tarzan: Untamed | 16 Nov 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
Tarzan: Untamed is a kiddie platformer that's not dissimilar to Crash Bandicoot, where the ape man declares war on all of Quebec. Neither Gary nor Kole can really tolerate a Tarzan. His story bores us. So instead, Gary torments Kole with the absolute dumbest fan theory that's ever cropped up on God's green Earth.
| Everything to Guppy 881: Spin To Win - Vasculitis - Giant Cell - Kid's Drawing | 15 Nov 2022 | 01:04:57 | |
This week's episodes: Spin To Win, Vasculitis, Giant Cell, and Kid's Drawing
| Abject Suffering 479: The Looker | 14 Nov 2022 | 00:39:45 | |
It's time to do a mini-WOFF! about one of the funniest games we've played recently: The Looker. It's a candid and scathing parody of The Witness, taking place on a very similar island, and having you use a pen to solve placemat mazes while listening to faux-deep audio recordings. We stay on topic throughout this one and spoil quite a bit, so consider going and playing The Looker for yourself. It's free and it's about 90 minutes long.
| Everything to Guppy 1014: Monster Blitz Pt. 65 | 03 Jun 2025 | 01:02:13 | |

| [PREVIEW] Bonfireside Chat 235: Carian Study Hall, Inverted | 13 Nov 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
We have retrieved the sacred treasure of Nokron for Ranni the Witch, completing the first major leg of her quest. As a parting gift, she gives us a strange statue before heading off along the path of an Empyrean. This episode concerns what we do with that statue, and checking in with Ranni's crew to learn more about the fate that was laid out for her, and why she might wish to throw it off.
| Days of Future Cast 338: Get a Load of Deadpool's Package | 12 Nov 2022 | 01:17:19 | |
Welcome back folks! This week we're continuing our coverage of the 2010 run of Uncanny X-Force. We start with a totally inappropriate jumpin on point with issue 5.1, and then we get to the real meat of the series, issues 5, 6, and 7. Enjoy! | Watch Out for Fireballs! 376: SUPERHOT | 10 Nov 2022 | 01:34:46
This week we sit down to talk about the most innovative shooter we've played in years. Our unnamed protagonist receives a weird program called superhot.exe, and when he launches it he connects to a very strange first person shooter where time only moves when the player moves. As we (and he) play this game, the hooks set in, and a larger conspiracy reveals itself. SUPERHOT is a small game with a big impact, a massive indie success that takes the FPS genre and upends it by breaking it down into component parts and changing the way they move. It's absolutely worth your time. We also talk a bit about the related works SUPERHOT VR and SUPERHOT: Mind Control Delete.
| Everything to Guppy 880: Cube Baby - Vade Retro - False PhD - Tainted Judas | 08 Nov 2022 | 01:07:09 | |
This week's episodes: Cube Baby, Vade Retro, False PhD, and Tainted Judas
| Abject Suffering 478: Hidden Agenda | 07 Nov 2022 | 00:39:42 | |
This week's episode is about Hidden Agenda, a really neat DOS game that is both too serious and too good to joke much about. It's a strategy game where you run a fictional post-revolutionary Central American country, making decisions that steer its development and inevitably piss off the people around you. So instead we talk about Gary's recent solo PRGE, and give some extremely belated takes on the Silent Hill announcements. We recorded this a while ago.
| [PREVIEW] Bonfireside Chat 234: Night's Sacred Ground | 06 Nov 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
This week we venture further into Nokron, the underground exile of the Nox people, who perfected a weapon to kill a god. This involves some detours through Ancestral Worshippers, and a brush with a strange levitating coffin, before we reach the Sacred Ground itself, overtaken by Silver Tears.
| Best Quality Vacuum 3: ... and the Bag's in the River | 05 Nov 2022 | 00:57:08 | |
Messes just lead to more messes as Walt and Jesse continue to deal with the aftermath of their first cook. The biggest loose end is Krazy-8, chained to a post in Jesse's basement, with Walt looking for any reason to let him go. This episode has some of the most rivetting scenes in the series, along with one of the most embarrassing... Get out of here with that "soul" stuff. We would like to thank Gwen Static for composing our theme song, and Trent Peters for creating our great podcast art.
| The Level 435: Throw Assets at the Problem | 04 Nov 2022 | 01:47:27 | |

| Watch Out for Fireballs! 375: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided | 03 Nov 2022 | 03:41:47 | |
When they say nobody asked for this, that's Gary Butterfield erasure. I asked for this. I exist! I mean, sure, Adam Jensen is a pretty tough pill to swallow. He shaves his beard in an extremely obnoxious way. Further, this is clearly the middle chapter of a prequel trilogy, which might be the most direct recipe for an unimportant narrative. However....however.... All of the above, plus a regrettable marketing campaign, basically eclipsed the entire conversation about this immersive sim that plays incredibly well. This number is worth your time for level design alone. Hear us talk about why.
| [PREVIEW] Exquisite Suffering 152: Wacky Funsters! The Geekwad's Guide to Gaming | 02 Nov 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
Sometimes it takes a Geekwad to save a kingdom. So we must venture back in time to grab outdated stereotypes about nerds and put them to work. Wacky Funsters! is a minigame collection with a budget, an early 90s DOS game that was probably sold in Office Max stores until 2005. And it gets us talking about all of the other not-quite-games that clogged the bargain bins, too.

| Everything to Guppy 879: Fruity Plum - Plum Flute - Star Of Bethlehem - Hollow Heart | 01 Nov 2022 | 01:06:05 | |

| Abject Suffering 477: Michigan: Report from Hell | 31 Oct 2022 | 00:47:51 | |
It's a shame when a great idea is wasted on a terrible execution. That's what happened with Michigan: Report from Hell. You play as a television camera man who is out with a team covering mysterious and violent incidents in Chicago as a strange fog rolls in. You shape the events through what you choose to film. Great idea, right? Too nothing about it holds together, leaving us with a clunky and awkward PS2 survival horror game that should have been great.
| [PREVIEW] Halloween Reading: "In the Court of the Dragon" by Robert W. Chambers | 30 Oct 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
Three days of physical and mental unrest have sent a man to seek sanctuary at the services of the Cathedral of St. Barnabé. But far from being able to escape his problems, he finds himself pursued by an unearthly church organist all across Paris to his own home, unable to escape that which hunts for his very soul. "In the Court of the Dragon" is the third story from The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers. This massively influential work of weird fiction would go on to inspire a number of other creators whose work you love. Other Halloween Readings:
| [PREVIEW] Bonfireside Chat 233: Nokron, Eternal City | 30 Oct 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
At long last, we can continue with Ranni's work now that the stars have moved again... and punched a big ol' hole in Limgrave. Big enough that we can get into the previously inaccessible Eternal City of Nokron. Here, we seek out the blasphemous treasure of the Nox, and see a little bit of the mad science they were doing in order to supplant the Golden Order.
| Days of Future Cast 337: Uncanny X-Force (2010) aka We're Back to the Good Comics Everybody | 29 Oct 2022 | 01:34:18 | |
Hello! It's time to get all your friends into Days of Future Cast because we've got an old fashioned jumping on point for you today. We're talking about the 2010 Uncanny X-Force series by Rick Remender, an incredible comic that is a lot of fun to talk about. In this episode we cover the first four issues. Enjoy! Reminder that you can read along with and ahead of the show by subscribing to Marvel Unlimited (we don't get paid for you doing that, so it's not an ad, it's just a cool service). | Watch Out for Fireballs! Dispatch: Steam Deck | 27 Oct 2022 | 02:16:57
We've each had a Steam Deck for about a month, and we feel comfortable reporting... It's pretty great! This week's Topic has us discussing the Steam Deck in general, and how one should get into PC gaming in 2022. We also read your responses to October's games, which are Devotion, Strangeland, and the Evil Within 2. November's Games:

| [PREVIEW] Unfilmable 44: Jacob's Ladder | 26 Oct 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
Things aren't going quite right for Jacob Singer. He's having flashbacks to the Vienam War and seeing demons all around him. Reality seems to be breaking down as he hops around in time. There's a truth he needs to face, and it might just take an angelic chiropractor to help him see it. Jacob's Ladder is one of the most influential horror films of all time, establishing psychological horror tropes and creating visuals that would be imitated across all media for years to come. Does it hold up to close scrutiny, or is it one where you're better off just going along for the ride?
| Everything to Guppy 878: Tinytoma - Brimstone Bombs - 4.5 Volt - Tainted Cain | 25 Oct 2022 | 01:08:23 | |

| Abject Suffering 476: Muppet Monster Adventure | 24 Oct 2022 | 00:49:24 | |
If I was a kid and I got a Muppet game where I couldn't play as Kermit, I'd be pissed. That's the world that Muppet Monster Adventure forces on us, one where people know who Robin the Frog is. The good Muppets have been kidnapped by an evil monster, and it's up to Robin to rescue them, maybe? This is a bog standard licensed platformer, and it's not especially terrible as those go.

| [PREVIEW] Bonfireside Chat 232: Roundtable Roundtable Caelid, ft. Iron Pineapple and Bryn | 23 Oct 2022 | 00:05:00 | |
This week's Roundtable Roundtable has a slightly different format, because we are featuring two audio interviews with guests alongside your responses to the Caelid region of Elden Ring! Our first guest needs almost no introduction. Iron Pineapple is a popular YouTuber who makes funny and insightful videos about From Software games. You've probably seen his videos about the glut of Soulsborne games on Steam, or his numerous and hilarious challenge runs. Our second guest is Bryn, of the Generation Loss and Beep Beep Lettuce podcasts, and the band Stay Inside. Listen to her music and shows! The next stretch of game we're covering is the remainder of Ranni's quest and Deeproot Depths, before we head up to the Altus Plateau.
| Best Quality Vacuum 2: Cat's in the Bag... | 22 Oct 2022 | 00:55:49 | |
So you make some very good product, and through no fault of your own you end up with one and a half dead bodies. A worse show would make the bodies disappear conveniently. However, Breaking Bad is about two people who are inept at crime getting into their own way. Walt and Jesse are ready to go their separate ways, but first they have to split the duties of dealing with Emilio (deceased) and Krazy-8 (it's complicated). And some messes only get bigger. We would like to thank Gwen Static for composing our theme song, and Trent Peters for creating our great podcast art.
