Sonor Artist Ron Wikso discusses his professional career and extensive collection and use of Sonor drums for 35 years. Ron currently tours with Steve Miller Band, Revisiting Creedence, Greg Rollie and stays busy with studio work and side projects. As a Sonor endorser, Ron has toured extensively with Cher, David Lee Roth, The Storm, Richie Sambora, Foreigner and others.

What may seem to be chance opportunity to fill in for one of the planets top drummers was anything but. This was actually an event years in the making, right down to a duplicate Sonor set, that predated Todd's new Sonors by several years. This is a fun story for Styx fans, Todd Sucherman fans, and of course, the Sonor Family.

With the marriage of the recreation of the Sonor Signature Shell, Sonorlite shell with Sonor's best engineered, most state of the art hardware ever; is there really a virtue to the limited edition drums over similar configurations you can build on the configurator? How much extra are you paying for the Anniversary models? Would the value of the Anniversary sets endure the test of time? Should you go ahead and buy one now?

Good Monday morning, Sonor family.We have some interview updates, the latest on the DRUMANDSTAGE exclusive product currently in R&D, I will be out of town all week, so there will probably not be any content this week. I also talk about Reverb pricing on my Sonor items, and why I am pulling my Reverb listings. I touch on a future video about my process of going through the Sonor Designer series snare drums carefully and thoroughly, and as usual, solicit ideas for future content.

Update on being out of pocket next week...I will pull Reverb Sonor listings this weekend since I will not be around to fulfill purchases. No Sonor and Coffee with Jules FridayHaving trouble nailing down potential Sonor interviewees! DRUMANDSTAGE exclusive product in R&D and will be a big help to many Sonor owners.

As a former Sonor dealer, and current frequent buyer and seller of Sonor, I see where people mislabel the conditions of the items they are selling. Also discussed is how some authorized dealer agreements can conflict with seller platform guidelines, such as those specific to Reverb. I go in to detail about what I consider "Brand New" as a consumer; why dealers may or may not opt (or be allowed) to sell certain items as "Open Box"; various reasons that buying "B-Stock" may be a bad idea, and that there is no relationship of an items age with rating it as "Mint" condition. We go a little deeper into being careful about buying from non-Authorized dealers, related to drums and otherwise. This is one that is likely to generate numerous counterpoints, and as I mention in the video, I am certainly open to considering perspectives different than my own.

In this really dragged out episode, Jules really tests the patience of the Sonor fans as he drones on incessantly for nearly 15 minutes in what almost seems like a sleepwalking episode. We examine the very limited reissue of the Sonor HLD 590, compare it to its ancestor and discuss proper cases for different Sonor Signature and other snare drums from over the years. 2025 marks 150 years of Sonor drum manufacturing. Named "The Hardest Working Man" by Modern Drummer Magazine, Sonor Artist Jerry Pentecost is a full time drummer, DJ and seemingly whatever else he can squeeze in to his schedule while raising twin 4 year olds.Jerry discusses his love for Sonor drums and the high level of craftsmanship that led him to the brand, as well as the stellar support he gets from Jeff Mulvihill and Henry Go who represent Sonor at KHS America. Jerry discusses other aspects of his life and career and that at 40 years old he still considers himself at the top of his career, citing drummers still working well into their 70s and 80s. He has obviously found a welcoming home with Sonor and hopes to stay with the brand through the rest of his career.

Mark tells us about becoming a drummer at a young age; his first Sonor drum and all about tech-ing Sonor drums on the road with Styx. He wraps up the conversation with a heartfelt commentary about his friend, Todd Sucherman.

This is the video, as promised, of the results of fitting Hella Hoops and a Dual Glide Throw Off. This was not in depth, but admittedly half hearted in the wake of deciding to go with the Artist Bronze as my main snare drum. More detailed and comprehensive product review to come...

I don't know what Sonor may have up their sleeve for the near future, but in my haste to replace my now sold and shipped ProLite Brass, THIS is what I have bought. Big shout out to Tim Davis, and an anonymous person that really helped make it happen.

The 'crisis averted' comment was intended tongue in cheek. But, I have ordered my next current/remaining in production snare drum. It should be here early next week, and I will reveal it along with my plans for a comprehensive Product Review. Arthur talks about his steadfast love for Sonor beginning in 1978. He discusses his drums through the years and the craftsmanship and dedication he witnesses first hand on his visit to the Sonor factory in Germany.

With the ProLite going away, and uncertainty as to whether the premium Sonor snare drum features will find their way to a new line of metal shell drums, I toy with my Kompressor to bring it as close as possible to the high end Sonor snares we have known and loved for many years. I have the drum upgraded but it will be another day or so before I have a chance to play it.

In this "feel good" interview Tal discusses his gear over the years; primarily using the Artist Bronze snare drum on most all of his sessions and tours, as well as past, current and future projects. The biggest takeaway from this interview is Tal's absolutely unwavering trust in and reliance on the Sonor product line and his strong relationship with the Sonor Drum Company.
