March 8th is International Women’s Day, a day when many across the world celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It also serves as a prompt to remember our collective responsibility to advocate for women’s equality.

We are honored to have Katie Nolan (Newcastle Eagles), Bethany Wheldon ( British Basketball League Table Official) and Viola Moss (British Basketball League Assistant Producer) to our 2024 Panel.

This year’s theme is #InspireInclusion and serves as a call toappreciate the value that is created in businesses, sports, communities, and society at large when women are included and feel as though they fully belong in their spheres of influence.

We welcome London Lions GM Brett Burman to the show to discuss his new role, Europe, season expectations and much more!

If you do not know this larger than life character he has been bringing his American travel teams over to the UK for over 20 years. Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month is the month of May in the US when we reocognize and celebrate the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to our country, business, and society. This recognition is starting to impact other countries also. The purpose of this month stands in stark contrast to the disturbing rises of hate and violence towards Asians in recent months, theorised to be largely connected to the pandemic. 

Tahir Hajat joins the show to share his experiences as a minority in the U.K. and how we can heal the divide between other communities. We wrap up the show asking his thoughts on the BBL's end of season awards and Season Review!

We all remember Dirk’s 2018 ‘Dunk of the Year’ that was an internet sensation, but did you know that Dirk hails from Alabama (USA) as a graduate of University of Alabama at Birmingham?

When Dirk originally joined the BBL, he played for the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks, then played in Hungary before joining the Lions club.

The BBL Show continues its celebration of Mother’s Day, as Drew and Jay surprised Dirk with a cameo from his mom, Momma Frizzle.

This episode has another surprise twist as Jay surprises Drew with a visit from Momma Lasker......we love our moms!!!

Drew and Jay head back Home! And they visit with Plymouth City Patriots Star TJ Atwood. The Texas Native tells us about the strong competition in the British Basketball League along with the keys to turning around Plymouth's Fortune.

The episode of The BBL Show is special. It is our 21 st episode of jam-packed BBL action (time flies), and it happens to be the jersey number for our co-host, Drew Lasker.

Like most athletes, Drew has a special affinity to his number, and he talks about how this number has brought him good vibes throughout his career.

Drew and Jay go back into the vault and find the 2008-2009 BBL Trophy footage from Drew’s Plymouth Raiders days, when he averaged 21 ppg. For those young cats out there, Drew was (and still is) a baller!

This week, Jay and Drew are joined by Georgia (US) native, former University of North Carolina Tar Heel, and star guard for the Glasgow Rocks, Christian Keeling. Christian joined the club in 2020, and his impact is already being felt.

The BBL Show Road To The Finals!

In the segment The BBL Show celebrates and honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Day, Jr., who led the US civil rights movement rooted in the tenets of nonviolent protest. Dr. King’s impact extended to the UK and throughout the world.

Jay and Drew are joined by Newcastle Eagle high-flyer Justin Gordon and they discuss the aspects of Dr. King’s legacy that resonate with them the most, and how they choose to be inclusive leaders.

The guys also meet up again with Yvonne Harris to discuss the League’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. 

And, of course, Drew and Jay get Justin’s thoughts on the Cup Final.

He won Trophy Finals MVP honors last season, and he now plays in Japan. It is great to hear how life and basketball across the globe are shaping up for CJ.

Of course, Drew and Jay talk scores, the scorers of the week, and the player of the week. Then they have fun taking the deep dive into a great fan question.

Next up Jay & Drew preview the BBL Cup Semi Finals with the Riders/Eagles match up, and they discuss the unfortunate forfeit of the Manchester Giants due to the need to quarantine. Another reminder as to how these times are impacting all facets of life.

Episode 13 is epic as Jay and Drew chat about the new era of the BBL driven in large part by the power and reach of as Sky Sports. Drew and Jay spend time with BBL Influencers Plymouth Raiders Commentator, Paul Nicholson, and Surrey Scorchers Marketing and Communications Officer, Tom Bonnett.

Paul is known on both sides of the pond, and across the globe as a well-respected coach, and he has been a leader with the Raiders for over 15 years.

Tom is actually the Marketing and Communications Officer for two professional sports teams based at Surrey Sports Park. The other is the Surrey Storm, a netball team competing in the Vitality Netball Super League (VNSL). In his role, Tom has been on the forefront of the communicating real-time season status updates, as things fluctuate on a regular basis.

Both Paul and Tom also share how their work behind the scenes (and off the court) contributes to the BBL’s growth and vision for its future.
