| Keeping the family home: is it fear or the numbers? | 23 Oct 2026 | 00:08:48 | |
Keeping the family home in divorce is one of the biggest decisions you'll make, and most of us make it from fear. I know I did. In this first note I talk about the difference between deciding from logic and deciding from fear or emotion, and why that matters so much when your world is completely upside down. I'm a former family lawyer, and I still couldn't see my own situation straight when my marriage ended. I tell you about the family home I fought with every part of me to keep, the fight I had with myself and with everyone around me, and the one question I wish I'd asked much sooner. Press play, and if you've got a big decision coming up, listen before you make it. Work with me: Membership and 1:1 Help
| The courage to start: My divorce & this podcast | 21 Oct 2026 | 00:11:28 | |
You know your marriage is over, maybe it's been over for years, but something stops you from taking that first step. If you're scared to start your divorce, this note is for you. This is episode one of Divorce Notes, and it's called The Courage to Start. It's dedicated to my mum, seven years to the day since she passed, and in it I share what she told me before she died, and what I'd tell the woman I was back when I knew my marriage was over but couldn't say the words. As a former family lawyer who has been through her own divorce, I know how long you can keep putting it off, and how many excuses there are. I talk about the fears that kept me stuck, what people would think, the children, money, being on my own, and the one question I'd now put to every one of them. I also tell you about the day I told my mum, how scared I was, what she said, and what happened later that same day. Fifteen years on from my separation, I'll tell you how those fears actually played out, and the small thing I'd ask you to do today. Press play, and if you know someone who needs this note, please share it with her. Are you lying awake wondering whether you can afford to leave, and what a divorce will mean for your home and your children? Divorce Notes is a podcast for women who are thinking about divorce, are in the middle of it, or are starting to rebuild. I’m Bhavna Radia, a former family lawyer turned divorce coach, and I went through my own divorce knowing the law and still found it frightening. Expect short solo episodes you can fit around the school run or a sleepless night, with guest episodes to follow. New episodes three times a week.
