EPISODE 57: REFLECTING ON SUCCESS AND A SMALL CHAT WITH REVEREND MIKI NAKURA I've had the pleasure of training in seiza meditation (quiet sitting) with Reverend Miki Nakura of Higashi Hongan-ji temple in Kyoto and the Jodo-Shinshu Shin-Buddhist New York Sangha. He demonstrates seiza but also explains the importance of hara in achieving emptiness and the meaning of Amida Buddha, which is very linked to the second Reiki symbol.
Taught by Okada sensei over 100 years ago, Seiza meditation is a universal method of sitting and breathing quietly to experience a peaceful and present-focused life. We sit in a chair or on a floor cushion while maintaining proper posture, breathing, and putting full strength into the lower belly. Seiza helps the mind and body to become stable and calm.
Nakura sensei offers virtual practices on Zoom and in-person sittings in New York City. He also travels the world teaching Seiza and has visited countries like England, France, Brazil, and Colombia in the last few months.
You can see his full demonstration of seiza meditation here
You can reach out to him at mikinakura87@gmail.com and access his handout about seiza meditation with step-by-step instructions on this link.

Finding Your Business Proposition: A Collab with the Reiki Business Collective
20 Mar 2022
01:03:39
Hi Divers! This is a different kind of episode. Instead of an interview with a Reiki master, I am being interviewed by Christian from the Reiki Business Collective.
We chat about how to define your Reiki business proposition in order to reach the people you want to serve with your practice. The business side of Reiki is one aspect many of us struggle with, yet there is little Reiki-specific training and information about it. Often we adapt techniques to market other modalities like Life Coaching, which is, honestly, a completely different ball game.
Christian's podcast is focused on helping Reiki professionals to develop a thriving Reiki business. You can check more interviews on his youtube channel: https://youtu.be/VfXSZm2WQ3I

EPISODE 15—Reiki Unified Reiki Unified is a non-profit organization dedicated to uniting the US Reiki community to oppose state regulation of Reiki. In this interview, Reiki Unified’s Rita Glassman, Susan Mitchell, Christopher Tellez, and Helene Williams explain to us what’s at stake and how we can prevent the establishment of licensing that could result in:
Inability to share Reiki sessions even with friends and neighbors without a license, which will imply cost and further training often unrelated to Reiki
Having to invest up to several thousand dollars to be licensed to teach
Having to follow an established curriculum to teach, which will be the same for over 150 lineages putting the beautiful diversity of our community at risk
We urgently need more signatures to oppose the first wave of legislation hitting Massachusetts, which could rapidly spread to other states. Here is the direct link: https://bit.ly/3l6rRix
You don’t need to be a certified Reiki practitioner to sign and live anywhere in the world.
You can also find more steps on what to do to protect your freedoms on the Reiki Unified website: https://www.reikiunified.com/
Enjoy the wonderful and enlightening conversation, and please share this information. The only way to defend our rights is to come together as a community and act.
