The Story of Ravana, Lord Shani, and Hanumanji

The story revolves around Ravan, the demon king of Lanka, who had defeated all the devas and brought the nine planets under his control. He was also a great astrologer and had kept all the planets in a position favorable to his son Indrajit's birth. The devas were worried that if Indrajit was born in this position, he would become invincible. To prevent this, they asked the planets to move from their positions, but they were helpless as they were under Ravan's control. The story highlights the importance of worshipping Lord Hanuman on Saturdays to avoid the evil eye of Lord Shani. It also suggests that offering oil or tail to Lord Hanuman can protect one from Shani's evil eye. The story showcases the bravery and wisdom of Hanuman and his devotion to Lord Ram.

About This Episode

In this episode of Devgatha mythological stories, we bring you a tale from the times of Ramayana. Raavan, the demon king, ruled over Lanka and had defeated the devs and brought all the nine planets under his control. He kept them suppressed beneath his feet and used his astrological knowledge to ensure a favorable position for his son, Indrajit. The devs, fearing Indrajit's invincibility, sought help from Lord Shani, who agreed to assist them. Lord Shani's glance on Ravana's face would hinder his son's mission.

Discover the popular belief surrounding Lord Shani's sight, also known as Shani Drishti, said to bring trouble and challenges to those it falls upon. However, it is believed to help in learning humility. Will Lord Shani be able to cast his gaze on Ravana, and what will be the consequences for the demon king?

Yashoda sees the Universe inside Krishna's Mouth

This is the sixth and the final episode about the tales of Lord Krisha's childhood. To celebrate baby Krishna's first birthday, the demon Trinavarta, sent by Kans, arrived in Gokul as a furious whirlwind. He snatched Krishna into the sky, shrouding Vrindavan in darkness and causing panic. As Trinavarta soared, Krishna, surprisingly, became immensely heavy, hindering the demon's flight.

Tearing at his neck, Trinavarta felt Krishna's weight as immense as a mountain. He strained to escape, but the baby's grip was unyielding. Finally, with a crash, Trinavarta fell to his death, his body resembling that of Tripusur, pierced by Shiva's arrow.

The people of Gokul were astonished by the sight of the dead demon and the unharmed Krishna, celebrating their deliverer's miraculous strength. Yashoda, tearful but overjoyed, retrieved her son from the slain Trinavarta. The incident solidified Krishna's reputation as a divine protector.

Krishna and the Cart Demon- Shakatasur

Three months old and already renowned for his divine feats, Krishna was the center of joy in Gokul. During a vibrant celebration for his remarkable development, Yashoda, Krishna's devoted mother, placed him under a cart for a midday nap.

Amidst the festive atmosphere filled with drums, music, and chanting, Yashoda was busy attending to the numerous guests who had come to witness this special occasion for her son. Unbeknownst to them, a cunning demon named Sakatasur, disguised as a simple cart, lurked with a sinister purpose. Sent by the malevolent Kans, Sakatasur aimed to whisk Krishna away, forever snatching him from his blissful life in Gokul.

As Krishna stirred in his nap, he began to kick playfully with his tiny legs. The cart, however, stood no chance against the power of the divine child. With a mighty kick, the cart collapsed, its wheel separating from the axle with a loud crash.

Panic swept through the crowd as they witnessed this sudden, inexplicable turn of events. The mothers panicked, rushing to their children, and Yashoda, hearing the commotion, raced towards the fallen cart, her heart pounding with worry. Little did they know, their innocent baby had just vanquished a deadly threat.

Astonishingly, Krishna lay unharmed, continuing to smile and play, his bewitching charm captivating everyone around him. The boys who witnessed the incident with wide eyes exclaimed with certainty that it was Krishna's kick that had toppled the cart.

The true nature of the "cart" was revealed as the terrified demon Sakatasur disappeared, forever vanquished by the infant Krishna. This miraculous event cemented Krishna's reputation as a divine protector and his power that extended beyond his tender age.

Krishna and Putana

In this episode, listen the story of Putana. She was a demon who was ordered by Kans to kill young Krishna. Did she succeed in her mission? Or was Krishna able to save himself?

Furious upon learning that Krishna, destined to end his reign, was alive in Gokul, Kansa ordered the deaths of all newborn boys born on the same day. His men failed, infuriating him further, so he tasked the demoness Putana with eliminating Krishna.

Putana, disguised as a beautiful woman, cunningly entered Nand's home, gaining access and approaching the infant Krishna. Yashoda, unaware of the danger, allowed Putana to hold her baby.

Poisoned and disguised with seductive beauty, Putana intended to kill Krishna by offering him her tainted breast milk. Yet, the divine baby, fueled by rage and strength beyond his years, sucked Putana's breast, consuming not only her poisoned milk but also her very life force.

Putana shrieked in agony, her body transforming, her form expanding to a massive size, disrupting the sky and earth. The terrified villagers watched in awe as Krishna, unharmed, playfully rested on her lap. Upon realizing the demoness's demise, they retrieved their beloved Krishna and destroyed Putana's gigantic body, the smoke from the funeral pyre emanating a sweet fragrance - a testament to Krishna's heroic act and the purging of Putana's sins.
