ELM STREET REVISITED: 'The Dream Child' (with director Stephen Hopkins)04 Nov 202500:30:35

Welcome back to Elm Street Revisited, a Dread Central podcast interviewing the Dream Masters responsible for directing the sequels to A Nightmare on Elm Street.

In our fourth episode, host Josh Korngut sits down with A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child director Stephen Hopkins, the stylish visualist who transformed Freddy Krueger’s world into a surreal gothic nightmare. Together, they revisit the making of one of the franchise’s wildest and most ambitious entries — from its expressionist production design and elaborate dream sequences to the behind-the-scenes chaos of bringing a studio horror film to life on an impossible timeline.

Hopkins reflects on joining the franchise at just 26 years old, his collaboration with Robert Englund and Lisa Wilcox, and how The Dream Child pushed the series into darker, more operatic territory.

This episode continues Elm Street Revisited — a special Development Hell event series featuring in-depth interviews with every living director behind the A Nightmare on Elm Street saga.

Ready to revisit The Dream Child? The new 4K Ultra HD NOES collection, including the original seven films, is out now from Warner Brothers Home Entertainment.

THE LOST CANDYMAN SEQUEL (with Zena Dixon)03 Aug 202100:55:21
Josh and Zena dig deep into the forgotten a CANDYMAN film, before spilling the details about Nia DaCosta’s upcoming spiritual follow up to the 1992 classic. In March 2004, Tony Todd announced he had signed on to star in a fourth Candyman film… This sequel was allegedly set at a New England all-girls private school where the Candyman was reigning havoc during a blizzard. Clive Barker was even in talks to produce this project, which was rumored to be ignoring the events of the other sequels. With extra special guest Zena Dixon (cohost of The Bloody Disgusting Podcast), these two take a real sharp look at the Candyman franchise as a whole, and speculate wildly on what could have been… and what’s yet to come. CARY FUKUNAGA‘S IT (with Emily Gagne)01 Jun 202101:04:41
The Development Hell podcast unearths Cary Fukunaga’s (TRUE DETECTIVE) unmade adaptation of Stephen King’s IT! With guest Emily Gagne (BEST FRIENDS FOREVER), this new episode uncovers a very different (and darker) vision of Stephen King’s seminal work of terror. Emily Gagne is a filmmaker, podcaster and writer. She curates FINAL GIRL FASHION on Instagram, an account showcasing the killer outfits of women in horror. Emily also co-hosts the podcasts We Really Like Her! And What About Meryll. Together we cover the IT miniseries, both feature films and the classic Stephen King novel which started it all. That’s when we dive into Cary Fukunaga’s and Chase Palmer's 2014 draft of the IT adaptation which was ultimately cancelled. Furthermore, we explore the nitty-gritty differences between the Andy Muschietti vision of Derry and how it compares to the Fukanga/Chase draft. We also speculate wildly about why Warner Brothers jumped ship after developing IT with Fukanga for nearly five years. If you are a fan of Stephen King’s IT and Pennywise the Dancing Clown? If so, you won't want to miss this episode. Do you think the recent films did the book justice?
