| Ep. 718 - (Group Learning Program) - Guided Loving-kindness Meditation and Student Questions | 31 Aug 2024 | 00:44:53 | |
(Group Learning Program) - Guided Loving-kindness Meditation and Student Questions Loving-kindness Meditation was the second most primary form of meditation employed by The Buddha to attain Enlightenment. There are many aspects of The Path to Enlightenment that one would need to learn and practice with guidance from a Teacher, however, Loving-kindness Meditation should be among the top priorities for any Practitioner aspiring to attain Enlightenment. The goal of Loving-kindness Meditation is to eliminate anger, hatred, ill will, resentment, negative self talk, and other discontent feelings associated with the unEnlightened mind. In this Podcast, David will guide you in a Loving-kindness Meditation session and will accept questions from Students to help you develop your meditation practice and progress forward on The Path to Enlightenment. ——- https://www.BuddhaDailyWisdom.com (See our website for online learning, courses, and retreats.) | Ep. 717 - (Group Learning Program) Chapter 19 - The Difficult Human Existence: Sickness, Aging, and Death | 28 Aug 2024 | 01:08:15
(Group Learning Program) Chapter 19 - The Difficult Human Existence: Sickness, Aging, and Death Three aspects of life that are the most difficult for us to deal with in our human existence are sickness, aging, and death. The young Prince Siddhartha Gotama, who eventually became Gotama Buddha, was sheltered during his first 29 years of existence as his father, the King, was keeping him in the palace attempting to lure him into the ways of a monarch through keeping him attached to the luxurious life of being a Prince and eventually a King. At the age of 29, Siddhartha Gotama exits the palace for the first time without his father’s knowledge to observe life outside the palace. He had his attendant with him who helped explain Siddhartha Gotama’s four (4) observations of sickness, aging, death, and an Ascetic or monk - a spiritual seeker. These observations eventually led Siddhartha Gotama to the understanding that because of the impermanent nature of things and the mind’s craving for permanence, we cause our own discontent mind. In this Podcast, David will share the life story of Gotama Buddha, help you understand The Four (4) Observations, and discuss sickness, aging, and death as it relates to the human condition. ——- https://www.BuddhaDailyWisdom.com (See our website for online learning, courses, and retreats.) | Ep. 708 - (Group Learning Program) - Chapter 16 - Dissolving the Ego: Ego Serves No Purpose | 07 Aug 2024 | 01:56:57
(Group Learning Program) - Chapter 16 - Dissolving the Ego: Ego Serves No Purpose Our ego is a collection of experiences from the past and our future expectations of ourselves. Ego is the accumulation of thoughts, ideas, and perceptions that we have of our self image and self identity. The ego will contain arrogance, pride, judge others, and measure and compare itself as superior or inferior to others. Dissolving the ego can be one of the hardest and most difficult aspects in the pursuit of Enlightenment. So its best to start learning to dissolve the ego early in your practice while ensuring to deeply explore this topic with the guidance of a Teacher. In this Podcast, David will share Teachings to help you understand what is the ego, how it causes massive problems in your life, and how to eliminate the ego from the mind on The Path to Enlightenment. ——- https://www.BuddhaDailyWisdom.com (See our website for online learning, courses, and retreats.) (Group Learning Program) - Guided Breathing Mindfulness Meditation and Student Questions Breathing Mindfulness Meditation was the primary form of meditation employed by The Buddha to attain Enlightenment. There are many aspects of The Path to Enlightenment that one would need to learn and practice with guidance from a Teacher, however, Breathing Mindfulness Meditation should be among the top priorities for any Practitioner aspiring to attain Enlightenment. The goal of Breathing Mindfulness Meditation is to develop “Right Mindfulness”, “Right Concentration”, and to eliminate the unwholesome root of craving/desire/attachment. All discontentedness is caused by craving/desire/attachment so it is important to train the mind to not have craving/desire/attachment as part of "Developing Your Life Practice”. | Ep. 616 - (Group Learning Program) - Chapter 22 - Mental Health: A Modern Day Delusion | 14 Feb 2024 | 01:28:18
(Group Learning Program) - Chapter 22 - Mental Health: A Modern Day Delusion The modern mental health discipline has only been in existence for a relatively short period of time compared to the length of time these Teachings have existed in the world. Considering the entire span of time that Gotama Buddha’s Teachings have existed, over 2,500 years, the short timeframe of knowledge developed in the field of mental health is highly unfounded, unproven, and untested. In this Podcast, David will share his personal story about the 24 years he spent searching for answers to depression, bipolar, anxiety, and other symptoms classified as "mental illness" and how he found the answers to the elimination of all discontent feelings in The Teachings of The Buddha. ——- https://www.BuddhaDailyWisdom.com (See our website for online learning, courses, and retreats.) Details available at this link. https://www.buddhadailywisdom.com/courses-retreats-in-chiang-mai-thai --------- The Five Precepts: A Householder's Guide to Daily Practice The Buddha gave us guidance to conduct life without harm to other beings or ourselves. This is titled “The Five Precepts”. These are not commandments nor rules to follow, rather how to ensure you are not causing harm to others or yourself. By causing harm to others, we cause harm to ourselves by the Natural Law of Kamma. Through practice of these precepts, you will drastically eliminate unwholesome Kamma production and, thus, experience a more peaceful and content existence. The Buddha’s Teachings are not to control an individual nor dictate what they should or should not do. But instead, provide guidance that when practiced will lead to Enlightenment, liberation of the mind, a peaceful and content mind and, thus, a peaceful and content life. David will help you understand what The Buddha taught regarding The Five Precepts and how to apply them to your daily life in modern times. ---------- FOUNDATION IN THE PATH TO ENLIGHTENMENT - MEDITATION PRACTITIONER COURSE (30-HOURS) This course focuses on guiding Students in developing a solid foundation in The Teachings and practices of Gotama Buddha. Also known as, greed, hatred, and delusion. These are The Three Poisons that exist and are present in the mind as part of rebirth into the human realm. It is our goal, through these Teachings, to eliminate these Three Poisons through practice of non-craving or generosity, non-anger or loving-kindness, and non-ignorance or wisdom. | Ep. 597 - (Group Learning Program) Chapter 19 - The Difficult Human Existence: Sickness, Aging, and Death | 24 Jan 2024 | 01:02:05
——- https://www.BuddhaDailyWisdom.com (See our website for online learning, courses, and retreats.) (Group Learning Program) - Chapter 18 - God's Creative Action: You Have Free Will Gotama Buddha’s goal was not to prove or disprove God’s existence, because Gotama Buddha only taught “truth” that could be independently realized or understood by you through your own practice and that which leads to Enlightenment. This is how you gain “wisdom”. But, during the lifetime of Gotama Buddha, there was belief in many different Gods so he did mention God and teach about God during his lifetime. | Ep. 576 - (Group Learning Program) - Chapter 12 - Craving is The Problem: What is The Solution? | 06 Dec 2023 | 01:16:40
(Group Learning Program) - Chapter 12 - Craving is The Problem: What is The Solution? The problem that Gotama Buddha discovered about the human mind is that it is constantly in a condition of craving and desire, also described as attachment. The mind constantly craves, desires and attaches to possessions, relationships, wealth, fame, occupations, etc. A craving, desire, or attachment is “a mental longing for something with a strong eagerness”. The mind continuously and endlessly has “cravings”, “desires”, or “wants” and because we cannot ever fulfill our endless “wants” with the mind craving permanence, the mind is discontent caused by our own craving, desires, or attachments. In this Podcast, David will help you understanding "The Problem" in the mind and discuss the solution to eliminate the discontent mind. ——- https://www.BuddhaDailyWisdom.com (See our website for online learning, courses, and retreats.)
