TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome, dear ones, to the second day of January and day number 2 of our journey through the Bible. I’m Hunter, your host, bible reading coach, and brother in faith. Here at the Daily Radio Bible, we keep it simple: we read through the scriptures — the Old Testament once, and the New Testament twice every year — with the hope of being transformed by the God who is love. Today’s readings are from Genesis chapters 3 through 5 and Luke chapter 2. We'll explore the fall of humanity, the story of Cain and Abel, and the birth of Jesus. Join us as we delve into these powerful passages and seek to be transformed by God’s word and love. Let's embark on this journey together. Welcome!

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

You know, sometimes we think we have to get ourselves straightened out at least a little bit before we can expect God to come near to us or do anything for us. But that's not the gospel at all. We are the ones that run and hide from him.

He's not the one who hides from us. No. He comes to us. In today's scripture, we see that Adam and Eve are banished from the garden. And oftentimes we read these passages, or at least they exist in our mind, in such a way that we think that they are banished because God is so holy that he can't stand to be in the presence of us or our sin, that somehow his holiness would be violated by being anywhere near us. But that's not what the scripture is saying, and that is not what God is doing. No. He is banishing Adam and Eve, but they are banished so that in their state of blindness and delusion that came over them when they agreed with the serpent and disobeyed God's instructions so that in that state, they would not do something that could not be undone.

No. God is not so holy that he must separate himself from you. God has come to you just as you are. In your delusion, in your darkness, he comes. He comes to restore us, to cover us, to open our eyes. Just as we are, God comes to us, and that's the gospel. The holiness of God is a holy love, and that love is a consuming fire that purges all things that are not of love. And that holy love sent Jesus to the cross so that he would break the power of sin, so that our eyes could be opened, so that we might see who we are in him, what he's created us to be.

We are his children, and he is a God who is with us. And that my friend is good news. And we can now live with him, participating with him in his great work of restoration of all things. And the news is so so good. It's better than we've ever thought. God has not banished us because he despises us. No. He has banished us so that he might find a way to restore us, and that is exactly what he's done.

And God is not so holy that he despises you and cannot be in your presence. No. He loves you, and he has come to you just as you are. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will understand these things and that I will experience the truth of it, and live in the joy of it. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son, and that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.

Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen

And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray...

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible podcast! I'm your host, Hunter, and today is January 1st, 2025. As we kick off this new year, we're embarking on a transformative journey through the Bible, reading the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice. Together, we'll immerse ourselves in scripture, reflect, and pray, as we draw closer to Jesus and His boundless love.

In today's episode, we dive into the foundational chapters of Genesis, exploring the creation story, and begin the Gospel of Luke, witnessing the miraculous announcements of John the Baptist and Jesus' births. We'll discuss living a shame-free life through Christ and encourage you to say "yes" to His presence and forgiveness. Join us for a time of prayer and reflection, and let's start this year by focusing our hearts on the one who offers us true, abundant life. Remember, dear ones, you are loved. Let's get started!

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Shame free living. That's how the story begins. God created man and woman, and they were without shame. But in the chapters ahead, we are going to see that they have been robbed of a life without shame.

We'll soon read all about it. We'll also read about the devastation that ensues. But as we read through the whole story of God, we're going to find that it doesn't end there. No. That would be bad news. But this is good news. And the good news is that God has sent his one and only son, the second Adam. And he's going to do everything necessary for us to get back to a life without shame.

A life lived with God. That's the whole point of this amazing story of the Bible. That this has been given to us. God has come to us at our lowest, the most shame filled places of our lives. Christ has come to meet us there, and he offers us there a real abundant shame free life. Some of you went through this last year carrying a lot of shame, but this year can be different. This year, you can come to him, not just pages in a book, but to Christ himself who is present with you and in you. And you can begin to open up your heart to him so that he might set you free from all the ways that shame has crippled your life.

The prayer that I have for my own soul today is that you and I would have the same spirit and heart that Mary had when she heard the good news. She said yes to it. She said yes. May it be unto me as you have just said. Maybe she didn't understand all of it. No doubt she didn't. But she was ready to say yes to God. And maybe that's something that you can do today.

Even though you don't understand all things, you can say yes to him who does. You can say yes If you've heard like I heard today in the reading that God intends for us to live without shame, then say yes to that. If you have heard as I have heard today that Jesus has come to take that shame away, To take away any barrier that would keep us from a life with him? Then maybe you and I can both say yes to that. Let me encourage you to say it, even in your unbelief. Go ahead and say it now. Yes, God. I believe. Help me in my unbelief.

I say yes to your presence in my life. I say yes to your forgiveness. I say yes to the hope that I can live without shame and in your strength. Maybe you just need to whisper it to yourself. Maybe you need to shout it out loud. It's important that we begin wherever we can. And maybe today, that beginning is simply a whisper of faint hope that maybe it's true. That maybe we can be free.

Maybe God really is with us. Maybe Christ really doesn't live in you. Maybe you really are loved by God. Maybe there's a way to live without shame. And to that, I say, yes. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you.

December 31st, 24:Concluding Our Yearlong Journey Through Revelation: A Prayerful Reflection on God's Love31 Dec 202400:26:42

One Year Bible Podcast: Join Hunter and Heather Barnes on 'The Daily Radio Bible' for a daily 20-minute spiritual journey. Engage with scripture readings, heartfelt devotionals, and collective prayers that draw you into the heart of God's love. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you.

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome, dear ones, to the final day of the year and the concluding episode of 2024 on the Daily Radio Bible. I'm your host, Hunter, and today we reach the end of our year-long journey through the scriptures. We'll be diving into Revelation chapters 19 through 22, discovering the grand visions of the new heaven, new earth, and the holy city, New Jerusalem. As we reflect back on the year, celebrating the scriptures we've read, the lessons we've learned, and the transformations we've experienced, let's also look forward with hope and anticipation for what 2025 has in store. Thank you for being part of this journey, and as always, may God's joy be our strength as we move forward. Let's embark together – 2025, here we come!

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

It's only just begun. Even as we conclude this story, we see that a new story is just beginning. A new creation is coming. A new heaven and a new earth, a new city, a new Jerusalem with new citizens composed of all the nations, and these nations will walk in the light of God. They are enveloped in his light. They are his children of light. Today, as we consider these great mysteries, let's be sure of this. This story that we're living right now has an endpoint.

There is a conclusion that God is bringing it to, but it just doesn't end with a conclusion. No. Now we see that there is still more to come. In fact, the best is yet to come. And that can be a great reminder and a great comfort to our souls. As we see certain chapters of our own lives come to their conclusion, we can rest assured that God is not done. There's still more to come. Because with Him we have life.

We have life abundant and He promises to be with us through all of the seasons and the chapters of our lives, even as He has been this year and all that it brought, all its challenges, its misfortunes, its victories, and its joys. And he will continue to be with us as we walk into this next chapter. All that will unfold, we do not know, but we do know this, that God is with us, that he is good, and that we are loved. The prayer of my own soul today is that I will live in the light, that I will respond to the one who is the light of the world, the one who has come to give himself, that I might know him, that I might be free, that I might experience his peace and his joy. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

December 30th, 24:The Final Bowls of Wrath: Revelation Chapters 15-18 Explored30 Dec 202400:24:02

Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 30th, 2024, and we're on day 365 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, here to guide you through these powerful passages. As we approach the end of the year, we're diving deep into Revelation chapters 15 through 18. We'll explore the profound imagery and warnings within, underscoring that despite the frightening visions of God's wrath, the ultimate message is one of hope: God's final word is Jesus. Join me as we reflect on the end-of-times visions and find solace in the promise of Christ's return. Let’s encounter the transforming power of God's word together. Stay tuned, and let’s prepare our hearts and minds for today’s reading and prayer.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

God's final word is Jesus. John tells us in the first chapter of revelation that we are to read all the words of this prophecy to the church, all of it, and that there's a blessing for us when we do this.

Every drop of this book must be read. Every word, including these words concerning god's wrath. The only way that we can bear to hear the terrifying and nightmarish words of revelation is for us to read them in the light of Jesus who is god's revelation. The only way to utter these words is to know that it is not God's final word. No. God's final word is Jesus, his son. Jesus is God's final answer to the world's great evil. Evil hides and thrives in darkness and deceit.

But here in these chapters we see the veil is pulled back. The spell is gone and we can see clearly a glimpse of the horrors of evil in this world. Jesus has come to bring an end to the cruelty and the hidden and horrific ways of this evil world, and we see it here in these chapters. Babylon is fallen, we're told. It'll be no more. It will be thrown into the sea, never to rise again because something new is on the way. God's final word is on the way. The living word, Jesus himself is on the way.

He's not done yet. The ravages of evil run deep and are often unseen, but God's final word is not wrath. His final word is Jesus. And Paul makes it very clear that Jesus has come to disarm and to defeat the evil powers of this world. Jesus wins that victory on the cross, and we are the spoils of that victory. In His great mercy, He has come after us. He has broken the spell that the evil one has placed on us, and he enables us to see his love, his hope, and his light. There's more to come, my friend.

This is not the last word that god has for us. I know we only have one more day left, but rest assure, this is not the final word. Let us make sure that every time we come to the word of God, we are coming to see him. And may the love of this vision of him change and transform us from the inside out. Let it transfigure the work of our hands, the paths our feet take, the words our mouth speak. Let Christ live in and through you. Your life will honor him, and he will accomplish all that he has prepared for you when we say yes to that, when we let him do it. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will let him do it.

That's a prayer that I have for my family too, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so

December 29th, 24:Exploring Revelation: Unveiling the Mysteries of Chapters 10 to 14 with Heather29 Dec 202400:24:27

Engage with scripture readings, heartfelt devotionals, and collective prayers that draw you into the heart of God's love. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you.

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible podcast! Today is December 29th, and we're on day 364 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm Heather, and I'm thrilled to be with you this Sunday as we dive deep into the Word, not just to read it, but to encounter Jesus—the true source of life. We’re joined by fellow believers from around the globe, seeking the Holy Spirit’s illumination in our exploration of Revelation chapters 10 through 14. We'll hear of the mighty angel and the scroll, the two witnesses, the cosmic battle in heaven, and the visions of beasts and divine judgment. As we unfold the mysteries and symbolic visions, we'll reflect on the profound call to "eat the book"—to fully internalize God's living Word and let it guide our lives. Let's come together, warm our hearts around the fire of God's love, and find strength and direction in His timeless truth. Plus, stay tuned for prayers and announcements as we near the end of another year. So grab your Bible, and let's dive in!

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Eat this scroll. It will be sweet like honey, and it will be bitter in your stomach. This whole fantastical episode of visions begins with John being told to eat the book.

It's only after he eats the scroll, which is both sweet and bitter, that he is given access to the behind the scenes visions and machinations and happenings in the spiritual world. There are deep mysteries here that are yet unlocked. Many people spend their lifetime trying to decipher dates, times, and meanings of these words and visions. Yet their ultimate deciphering can only happen for those who eat the book. Eating the book is a precursor to understanding God's vision. And that's true for our own life. It's only as we abide in him and his word, as we eat the book, as we accept within ourselves the living word of God, that we are given a vision and direction for what God has for our life. God reveals to us what we need to know, when we need to know it.

Ours is to take the next vision that God has placed before us. Ours is to take the book, not words on a page, but the living word of God, and eat it. Ours is to stand back in awe and worship. This story that we read about and find ourselves in is going somewhere. It's not an endless cycle of the same thing over and over. No. God is culminating things. The angel says

Things are coming to a rapid conclusion. We can be sure that God is on the move, and we are to be on the move with Him, taking each step, His Spirit within us, according to his word each and every day. It is in living in communion with him, taking within you the living word, the food for your soul, that you will have what you need to walk out the vision that God has for your life. Eat his word. Receive from him visions, direction, courage, and hope to take that next step with him, living life in him. And now let's pray together

December 28th, 24:Exploring Revelation 5-9: The Lamb's Worthiness and Our Journey of Faith28 Dec 202400:23:20

Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, where we embark on a journey through the scriptures every day. Today is December 28th, and it's day 363 of our quest to read through the entire Bible in a year. I'm your host, Hunter, your brother and bible reading coach. In today's episode, we'll be diving into the powerful and transformative chapters of Revelation 5 through 9. As we navigate these profound passages, we'll encounter visions of scrolls and seals, mighty angels, and vivid imagery that speaks to the ultimate victory of the Lamb. Our focus today remains on experiencing the transformation that comes from the God who is love, fully revealed to us in the face of Jesus. Join us in this spiritual journey as we seek to understand the deeper meaning of these scriptures and the hope they bring. Let's begin with prayer and open our hearts to the message of God's word.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

If this scroll isn't opened, then how are we gonna make sense of this story? The story of human history demands that this scroll be opened. This story of life demands that justice and righteousness prevail. Some sense must be drawn from all the senseless evil in this world.

John falls into despair at the thought that somehow there'll be no judgment and no true reconciling of all things, a restoration of all things. When God is all and in all, He wonders whether perhaps it's all meaningless. He wonders whether there will be a response from God in the end. John cries out at the thought. He cries out for someone to make sense of the wreckage. And in this final moment, when it appears that all's lost, an elder insists that John stop weeping. He insists that there's one who is worthy and who is able. It is the one sitting on the throne.

He can open the scroll because he has stepped in into the darkness, into the despair, into the loss, into death, into the grave. He is the lamb of God who has taken the sins of the world. He has offered himself on the cross. And in that offering, he defeats death by death in order that he might rescue those that have been taken captive by sin, death, and the grave. He's come to rescue lost Adam and draw us all into his saving life. In his body, he accomplished this victory. You might be like John today, weeping because you think there's no way to make sense out of what's happened in your life. Well, the elder and John and me, we all want to remind you to look.

The lamb. He's worthy. Look at him. See what he has done. He has won a victory for you, for us, for the world. That will transform our weeping into absolute worship and adoration. Let's look and ask the spirit to help us to see the lamb who opens the scroll. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul.

That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

Hello, dear listeners, and welcome to the Daily Radio Bible Podcast! I'm Hunter, your host, Bible reading coach, and fellow traveler on this journey through the scriptures. Today, we find ourselves on December 27th, nearing the end of our year-long quest through God's Word. In this episode, we'll delve into the powerful and enigmatic book of Revelation, exploring chapters 1 through 4. Together, we'll uncover the awe-inspiring vision given to John and the profound messages to the seven churches.

We'll meditate on the majesty of the One seated on the throne and reflect on how seeing Christ at the center transforms our understanding of everything. Join me as we immerse ourselves in scripture, lift our hearts in prayer, and embrace the timeless truth that you are deeply loved. Plus, we'll offer some insights on how you can support this ministry as we continue to share this transformative message with the world. So, grab your Bible, open your heart, and let's embark on this spiritual journey together.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

There's someone sitting on the throne. The one on the throne is described as brilliant. The description is far more elaborate than that, but it's clear that it's not me and it's not you sitting there. Here in this last book of the bible, John pulls back the curtain for us so that we can see the one who has been at work since the very beginning. All the plot lines are converging on him.

John wants us to see that the plot and the point of the whole thing is this one who is sitting on the throne. The world is seen in its proper alignment when Christ is at the center and on his throne. This is how the whole story and universe was always intended to be. Romans 11:36 says, everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever and ever. And in acts 1728, it says, for in him, we live and move and have our very being. It all makes sense when the curtain's pulled back and we realize that he is the center of it all. With him at the center, things are in their proper alignment.

Today, we're called to surrender our usurped place at the center of our life and to see Him for who He is and to worship Him. He is the one who's made a way for all of us to find a way to life. And He came into this world to offer Himself as a sacrifice for us. He came for all of us, whether we recognize it or not. He's come at His Father's bidding, in the anointing of the spirit, to gather us into the embrace of love that is shared between the father and the son and the spirit. So today, let us see him, the one whose eyes are like flames of fire, whose hair is white like wool, with a gold sash across his chest, his feet like burnished bronze, and whose voice thunders like mighty ocean waves. Let's see him, the one who humbled himself with such contrition that he came to us as a little baby, that we might know him, walk with him, love him, worship him, and know his joy. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul today.

December 26th, 24:Exploring Psalm 117 and 119: A Journey Through the Scriptures26 Dec 202400:28:29

Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible podcast! It's December 26th, 2024, and this is day 361 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm your host, Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, here to spend some quality time with you in the pages of the scriptures. Our goal goes beyond just reading; we seek to experience the transforming life, presence, and love of Jesus.

Today, we'll be delving into Psalm 117 and 119, followed by 2nd and 3rd John. These readings highlight the beauty and power of God's word, His unfailing love, and the fulfillment of His promises.

Together, we'll reflect on the treasures of God's word, its ability to revive, encourage, and guide us. We'll end our time with heartfelt prayers and a call to carry God's love and peace into the world. So, join me as we warm our hearts by the fires of His love and deepen our understanding of His word. Let's get started!

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Psalm 19 is an amazing declaration of the beauty of God's word. Verses 11 through 13 says, I have hidden your word in my heart that I may not sin against you. I praise you, oh, lord. Teach me your decrees. I have recited aloud all the regulations you've given us, and

that's what we've been doing here at this podcast. All this last year and for the last 7 plus years, we've been reciting aloud the wonderful works of God, and we have hidden his word in our hearts because it helps us not to sin. But that's not the only thing that the word of God does. Psalm 119 gives us an amazing litany of the treasures of God's word and all that it does for us. The word of God revives and encourages our heart. It keeps us from lying to ourselves. It's where our happiness is found. It rids us of shame.

It renews our lives with goodness and gives us hope. It comforts us in times of trouble. It's an anchor. It keeps evil far from us. It teaches us judgment and knowledge. It sustains us with joy and gives us life. It makes us wise. It guides our steps. It is joy in times of stress. It is a great treasure. All of these things I found to be true. Just as the psalmist says, his word is more desirable than gold, even the finest gold.

His promises are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. By god's grace, we will continue to hold tightly to the word of truth. Through good times and bad, through the storm or in calm seas, we will hold to him. He honors us as we honor his word. He blesses us when we seek him with all our hearts. The treasure, friends, is right here. The treasure is him. His word points us to him, reveals him, and he is the treasure our hearts are longing for.

So let's open our hearts to his word and let it do its good work within us and guide us into his presence so that we might walk by his side and have his joy. And that's the prayer that I have for my family, and that's the prayer that I have for you.

December 25th, 24:Celebrating Christmas with 1st John: Embracing the Light of Jesus25 Dec 202400:22:39

Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you.

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome, dear friends, and Merry Christmas! On this 25th day of December, join your Bible reading coach, Hunter, on the Daily Radio Bible podcast for a special Christmas episode. Today marks the 360th day of our journey through the scriptures, and together, we delve into the transformative love and life of Jesus, the true light of the world. In this episode, Hunter reads from 1st John, chapters 1 through 5, reminding us of the humble arrival of Jesus and His profound impact on our lives. Alongside scripture, we engage in heartfelt prayers for peace, understanding, and divine guidance. So, take a pause from the festivities, and let the message of God's love fill your heart and home on this blessed day. Join us on this enlightening journey, and remember, you are loved. Let's get started!

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

John reminds us today that the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. The true light is Jesus Christ. His coming was about as unassuming as as one could imagine, a tiny baby, born to a couple of teenagers. The mother, a virgin, in a tiny town, born in a manger.

Who could have imagined that God would come to us in such a lowly way? But Jesus' humble entrance brought light back into the dark world. Though, at first, only some family and friends, a few shepherds, some wise men took note of it. When we read this, we can't help but draw a line from the birth of Jesus, the light of the world, to Genesis, chapter 1, when God's light broke over the darkness, when God created the first dawn. Then God said, let there be light, and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. For the God who said, let there be light in the darkness, has made this light shine in our hearts so that we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. As we look to the birth of Jesus, consider the ways that Jesus has brought light into your dark world. Put that light on a stand and offer that light to others.

And imagine a day coming when the glory of God will be all and in all. And that's a prayer that I have for my own soul. And that's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer. Feel free to read along with these prayers in the show notes of today's podcast, and meditate on these words that are being spoken over you, your family, and our world. And now, let us pray.

December 24th, 24:Reflecting on the Resurrection of Christ on Christmas Eve24 Dec 202400:22:54

Good day, everyone, and welcome to the Daily Radio Bible podcast! Today is December 24th, Christmas Eve, and it's also day 358 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm Heather, your host on Sundays. On this special episode, we'll reflect on the profound love of Jesus Christ through readings from John chapters 19 through 21. Though it may seem unusual to focus on Jesus's death and resurrection on Christmas Eve, this juxtaposition highlights the remarkable story of salvation—from the humble birth in a manger to the ultimate sacrifice on the cross. Join us as we warm our hearts around the fire of God's love, immerse ourselves in the Word, and rekindle our spirits with the peace and purpose that Jesus offers. Let’s dive right in!

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

He's the God of many other things. John ends his gospel with these words. Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written. Those other things aren't relegated to the past. Those other things continue on even today. He continues to transform men and women, boys and girls.

He's showing up behind locked doors and locked hearts. As Reverend Doctor Munther spoke so eloquently in his message from Bethlehem yesterday, Christ is under the rubble in Gaza, suffering with humanity. He is with the grieving families of those in Gaza and also with those in Israel who are grieving loss. Christ continues to be with us in all our heartache. He is still whispering, peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. Follow me. He's calling all of us to receive God's peace, a peace that was won when he conquered death.

He called Peter and he calls us all to move beyond our failure and into a new life. His purpose for us is to go and feed his sheep, laying down our life for the sheep the way Christ has laid down his life for us. He comes to speak life and peace and gives us a new way to live. Even, and maybe especially, on this Christmas Eve, may we move beyond ourselves and into his path of compassion, love, and purpose.

December 23rd, 24:Embracing Jesus' Love and Overcoming the World: John: Chapters 15 to 1823 Dec 202400:25:07

Welcome, dear friends, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 23rd, and we're on day 358 of our journey through the scriptures. I’m Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, here to guide you as we read through the entire Bible, covering the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice. But more than just reading, our deep desire is to experience the transformative love and presence of God, fully revealed in Jesus Christ.

In today's episode, we'll dive into the Gospel of John, chapters 15 through 18. We'll explore Jesus’ profound teachings about the vine and the branches, his relationship with the Father, and his prayers for his disciples. We’ll witness the poignant moments leading up to his arrest and Peter’s denial, and conclude with Jesus' trial before Pilate. Through these scriptures and our time in prayer, we seek not just understanding, but the peace and strength to walk with Him through all of life’s trials. Join us as we immerse ourselves in God’s Word.

Let's embark on this sacred journey together.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Here in John 16, we see Jesus trying to describe his relationship with the father. He's preparing his disciples for what's about to happen. He's trying to describe all of this to them, and they're struggling to understand. And finally, it seems like they just decide to fake it and say, well, yes, Lord. We finally understand. Finally, you're speaking plainly and not figuratively. We get it. I can't help but think that Jesus knew that they did not understand.

In fact, in verse 31 and 32, he asked them somewhat incredulously, do you really believe that the time is coming, indeed it's here now, when you'll be scattered each one going his own way leaving me alone? I mean, if they really understood, would they do that? Yet Jesus says I'm not alone because the father is with me. It seems that Jesus is calling them out a bit ever so gently. I think he's saying no no no. You really don't believe. If you truly believed, you wouldn't desert me, and that's exactly what's about to happen. You're going to leave, but I won't be alone. This is all very necessary, and then he tells them what a heart looks like that truly believes in him. Verse 33

I've told you all this so that you may have peace in me here on earth. You'll have many trials and sorrows, but take heart because I have overcome the world. We are going to have troubles in this world. If anything, the last 2 years has given us is clarity on this point. That is a reality. We will have troubles in this world. Sometimes there is a pandemic. But take heart, Jesus says.

Have courage, he says. I've overcome the world. I think Jesus is saying that if we truly believe, we won't run and hide. Instead, we'll recognize that he's with us, and he has the power to overcome and see us through all the troubles that we experience in this life. Life will not be void of troubles, but he will be there. So let me ask you, and I'll ask myself, do we really believe, or are we running and hiding? Have we learned to receive the word that says, take heart. I have overcome the world. You don't need to flee if you believe that I'm with you.

So walk with me in and through all of your troubles. I'm with you. Have faith in that. Walk with him through that. Walking with him is what we are all called to do, and by faith, that is what we will do. That's the prayer that I have for my own heart, for my own soul. And that's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you.

May it be so.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

Amen

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 22nd, 2024, day 357 of our incredible journey through the Bible. I'm Hunter, your host and Bible reading coach, here to guide your hearts and minds toward Jesus. While Heather is away visiting family in Colorado, we gather here to immerse ourselves in the sacred scriptures. In this episode, we journey through John chapters 12 through 14, witnessing powerful moments like the anointing of Jesus by Mary, Judas's eventual betrayal, and Jesus's profound teachings on love, service, and the promise of the Holy Spirit. As we read, we'll explore the gift that Jesus offers—peace of mind and heart—timely words as we prepare our hearts for the Christmas season. So, settle in, open your hearts, and let’s dive deep into the living Word of God together.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

I just went and did a little Christmas shopping right before doing this podcast. I was looking for gifts as you do when you go Christmas shopping. In today's reading, we hear that Jesus has offered us a gift. Verse 27 says, I am leaving you with a gift. Curious to know what it is? I mean, it is almost Christmas.

It's peace of mind and heart. That's the gift. It's unique to him, he says. No one in this world can give you that. Nothing in this world can give you that. Peace of mind and heart. Is your mind troubled? Is your heart troubled? Jesus is offering you a gift today, a living word of God. A man who walked about the land of Galilee, who performed miracles, who raised the dead, who offered himself on behalf of all of humanity, the creator of all things.

Creator of that ocean that I walked by today, looked out over. He offers me peace of mind and heart. All those anxieties that I have about my future, about my family, about finances, about health, about my mom, all those things that make my mind very unpeaceful. Jesus wants to give me peace. There in the midst of all that, he says, I have a gift for you, Hunter. Any place in my heart that is not settled or that is wounded, that is confused or injured, Jesus himself today says, I can bring peace there. I can quiet your heart even. So, if you're like me today, let us together say thank you.

Let us together find some time to to sit with this generous gift. And allow the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the counselor, the one who is with us now. Help us to open that gift, and to begin to live in the light of it, in the joy of it, in the love of it, receiving all that God has for each and every one of us. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the pair that I have for you. Peace, of mind, and heart. May it be so.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

Amen.

December 21st, 24:Embracing Resurrection: Rolling Away the Stone and Finding New Life in Jesus21 Dec 202400:24:58

Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 21st, and we are on day 356 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm your host, Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, here to accompany you through the pages of the Bible. As we approach the end of the year, we aim not just for understanding but for the transformation that comes through the God revealed fully in the face of Jesus. Today's readings take us through John chapters 9 to 11, where we encounter powerful stories—Jesus healing a man born blind, likening himself to the Good Shepherd, and raising Lazarus from the dead. We explore the themes of divine healing, faith, and the barriers we must overcome to walk in the resurrection life that Jesus offers us. As always, we'll close with prayers for strength, peace, and a reminder of God's unending love. So, join me as we delve into the richness of God's word together. Let's get started.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Roll the stone aside, Jesus told them. That stone was the barrier between the grave and life, between the living and the dead. And that stone is an important symbol in this story.

For we all have a stone that god is wanting to move away in our lives. What's yours? What's standing between you and life? Lazarus came to life when Jesus spoke his name inside that grave, but the stone still had to be moved away. There was still a barrier, still something that stood in between him and the life that waited and the love of those who stood on the other side. Trapped alive in a tomb is no life at all, and yet this is what many Christians experience in their lives. That stone must be rolled away. And at Jesus' command, indeed it was. And now a man once dead is alive. Now there's nothing in the way.

Now he is truly alive. And there is no life like resurrection life. I'm sure for Lazarus, life after the grave was sweet indeed. What stone needs to be removed in your life? What's still standing in the way, inhibiting you from experiencing all that God has for you? Don't ignore. Don't shut your ears to his command To come forth. He's done everything that's necessary for you to walk forward in life. The stone has been rolled away. He has raised you from the grave.

Now is your time to begin to learn to walk in resurrection life. So come forth. Come forth today. Take that step. Move forward in faith, trusting that God is indeed The God of the resurrection. The God who raises us from the dead. He has removed all that needs to be moved. And he stands on the other side.

Ready to embrace you, to walk with you into your new life. Hallelujah.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

December 20th, 24:Experiencing the Transformative Love of God in John 7-820 Dec 202400:25:09

Engage with scripture readings, heartfelt devotionals, and collective prayers that draw you into the heart of God's love. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you.

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome, dear listeners, to the Daily Radio Bible podcast. I'm your host, Hunter, and today is December 20th, 2024, day 355 of our year-long journey through the scriptures. We’re nearing the end of the year but our mission remains just as powerful: to experience the transformative love of God through His Word.

In today's episode, we delve into the Gospel of John, chapters 7 and 8. We witness Jesus as He moves amidst skepticism and hostility, secretly attending the Festival of Shelters, and delivering profound teachings about His divine origin and purpose. From confronting His critics to offering living water to the spiritually thirsty, Jesus' messages and actions stir both faith and controversy among those around Him.

Join us as we explore these rich passages and reflect on the living water Jesus offers, culminating in His poignant declaration, "I am the light of the world." As always, we pray to deepen our understanding and experience the fullness of God's presence in our lives. Stay tuned for a compelling reading and heartfelt prayers that follow.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Amen. It's the climax of the festival of shelters, and Jesus commandeers the whole thing. The priest would descend the steps in this ceremony from the temple down to the pool of Siloam. There he would retrieve water and walk it all the way back up the steps and pour it out on the altar. And there he would recite from Isaiah chapter 12, which reads, With joy you will drink deeply from the fountain of salvation. This was a messianic promise that was reenacted every year. It was a promise that there would come a day when the Messiah would come and offer salvation to his people, and all the faithful would drink deeply from that fountain of life. The priest would descend those steps for 7 days, bringing up that water every day.

And on the 7th day, the priest would do that for the final time. It was the climax of the celebration. People were standing all around with palm fronds and lit lanterns. It was a glorious moment that Jesus upstages. He steps forward at that particular moment, and he begins to shout out to the crowds, and the people were amazed at his words. He said this in verse 38, anyone who believes in me may come and drink, for the scriptures declare that rivers of living waters will flow from his heart. Amazing. The salvation the world is dying for has come.

Those salvific waters are proceeding not from some religious temple, in some religious altar. It emerges from the very heart of God. The deadly drought caused by our rebellion has come to an end. The wait for life giving water is over. The source of our life is now standing before us. It is a person. It's Jesus who comes with his father in the anointing of the spirit. The 3 in 1 are present right here, right now, and he's telling us to drink deep and never stop drinking.

That water is going to flow for all. He is the salvation the world has been waiting for and he is here. Jesus took center stage at that moment because he didn't want any of us to miss this sign. He's the one we're looking for. He's the one Isaiah spoke about. So let's drink deep of that fountain today and every day. The triune God, the creator of all things, is beckoning you to come to bring your thirsty soul to him and receive all that you want. That's the prayer that I have for my own souls that I will see it, my friends, that I will receive it, and that I will drink deep.

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome to the December 19th, 2024 episode of Daily Radio Bible. I'm your host, Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, guiding you through our transformative journey through the scriptures. Today, we're immersing ourselves in the profound teachings of John chapters 5 and 6, where we witness Jesus performing miracles, such as healing the sick man by the pool of Bethesda and feeding the 5,000 with just five barley loaves and two fish. We'll delve into His powerful messages about being the Bread of Life and explore the deep connection between Jesus and the Father. As we reflect on these powerful passages, let's open our hearts to the transformative power of God's love and presence. Join me in this spiritual quest as we seek to experience His truth together. And of course, we'll conclude with a time of heartfelt prayer, as we lift our voices to God. So grab your Bible, settle in, and let's embark on this divine journey together.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

The only one I know that has what I'm looking for, words of life, bread from heaven, food in the wilderness, is Jesus. He's the only one I know that has what I'm looking for. I don't come to him because I'm especially pious or I was born in the right family. No. I seem to have come to him because I have been drawn to him, as have you. And in this season of Advent, we are reminded that the word, the bread that came down from heaven, is Jesus. And Jesus has offered himself in the flesh for the whole world so that we might have union with him.

That we might share in his life. That we might be transformed by his love, that we might partake in his victory over the grave. The father is drawing us to this man, Jesus, because he has what we're looking for. And the prayer of my own heart is that I will see it and that I will partake and follow him. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

December 18th, 24:Exploring the Miracles of Jesus: Turning Water into Wine and Healing the Sick18 Dec 202400:24:03

One Year Bible Podcast: Join Hunter and Heather Barnes on 'The Daily Radio Bible' for a daily 20-minute spiritual journey..

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 18th, and it's day 353 of our journey through the Scriptures. I'm your host, Hunter, your Bible reading coach and brother. As we explore the Gospel of John, chapters 2 through 4, we will witness Jesus' miraculous transformation of water to wine at Cana, His passionate cleansing of the temple, and His deep conversations with Nicodemus and the Samaritan woman at the well. Our focus today is on recognizing that all signs point to Him—Jesus, our source of life, joy, and transformation. We'll conclude with heartfelt prayers and reflections, anchoring ourselves in the love of God. Join me, let's dive in and experience the Word together.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

All the signs are pointing to him. There's the sign at the wedding feast. He turns water into wine. And here we see the sign of the healed boy simply at the word of Jesus. A boy is healed.

The fever is gone. The prayer is answered. Christ is what all the signs are pointing to. And even at this season when we celebrate the advent of Jesus, may these days before the Christmas week remind us that all the signs are pointing to him. He is our wedding feast. He's the one who gives wine for our water. He's the one that answers our deepest heart's cry. All of it points to him.

There are many more signs in this gospel. May our hearts be open to all of them. May we have eyes to see through this Advent season who He is, that He is Emmanuel. He's come to identify with all of humanity by becoming a human. That he is going to offer himself on behalf of all the world to free us, to rescue us, and liberate us, that we might experience the life that he shares with the father and the anointing of the spirit, that he has embraced us and included us into that very life and joy. The incarnation shows us the depth of his love and it also shows us the depths of your own value, how God values you, that you are deeply loved. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will see that well, that I'll see the signs. They're all pointing to him, to what he's done and who we are in him.

That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

December 17th, 24:Embracing God's Promises: Insights from 2nd Peter and John17 Dec 202400:28:57

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome, dear listeners, to the Daily Radio Bible. I’m your host, Hunter, and today is December 17th, 2024, day 352 in our journey through the Scriptures. As your faithful Bible reading coach, I join you every day to immerse ourselves in the transformative word of God. Today, we’ll dive into 2nd Peter chapters 1 through 3, wrapping up with John chapter 1. Through these passages, we’ll explore powerful themes of divine promises, the dangers of false prophets, and the revelation of Jesus as the Light of the world. So, settle in as we open our hearts and minds to the wisdom of the Scriptures, drawing closer to the God who is love. Let's begin this enriching journey together.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Make every effort to respond to his promises. By his divine power, god has given us everything we need for living a godly life. And because of his glory and excellence, he's given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires. Because God fulfilled his promise to Abraham that Abraham would become the father of many nations, The peoples of the world would recognize and understand the fatherhood of God. They would see that they have been included, adopted into a relationship with the creator of all the world. Because of this promise and what Christ has done, we share in God's divine nature. That's something that will and should blow our minds.

Peter says that we share in God's divine nature, and Peter wants us to participate in that, to participate in what is, to acknowledge and see and live in the joy of what is, your inclusion into the life and love of God because God was true to his word. God did what he said he would do. He came and he rescued us and made us his own. So let's live in that, my friends. The triune god sent his son to come and rescue us, to awaken us to who we really are, to who he is, what he has done.

and who we really are. We are those that share in his divine nature. We are children of God made in the image of God. God has come to reveal this, to make this known, to let it become the thing that animates our lives, sets us free, and gives us joy. So let's do it. Let's do that. It's as we live in the reality of this amazing truth and good news, we will indeed escape the corruptions of this world. We will not give in to the lusts of the world, the sinfulness of our flesh. No. We will be walking in the spirit. That's the desire and the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters, and my son, and that is the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.

December 16th, 24:Embracing God's Kiss: A Journey Through 1 Peter16 Dec 202400:27:35

Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible! Today is December 16th, and I’m your host, Hunter. Together, we journey through the pages of the scriptures every day, aiming to read the entire Bible in a year. Today’s reading focuses on the transformative power of God's love as conveyed in 1 Peter, chapters 1-5. We explore the themes of enduring trials, the value of faith, and the ultimate joy and glory that come with following Christ.

Peter imparts wisdom on living holy lives, showing sincere love to one another, and embracing the trials that refine our faith like gold. He reminds us that our story ends with a divine embrace—God’s unfathomable love exchanged for our betrayals. In an era of distancing, Peter’s call for a "kiss of love" resonates as a metaphor for showing kindness and unity.

Join me in a time of reflection and prayer, grounding ourselves in the promise that God's grace and strength will see us through. Let's embrace the joy that comes from knowing we are deeply loved by our Creator. So, dive in with me today as we let the scriptures speak love and hope into our lives. And remember, dear ones, you are loved. Let’s begin.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

This letter ends with a kiss. Peter admonishes the church to kiss one another, to offer each other a kiss of love. Christ offers us a kiss today too. Even in the reading of this word, we can receive a kiss of love, his embrace.

We can receive the kindness that he offers us. That's what we have in Christ, and our story will end just like this letter ends, with a kiss and an embrace from him. Judas offered Jesus a kiss, but it was a kiss of betrayal. All of us have offered God that same kiss of betrayal in one way or another. We once were enemies of God opposed to him, but God was never opposed to us and he was never our enemy. And he does not deal with us as our sins deserve. He does not betray us as we have betrayed him. He does not even turn away from us in the wake of our betrayals.

No. He does something absolutely scandalous. He offers us love in exchange for our betrayal. He doesn't pay back in kind. He gives us instead a kiss of love, and that love cost him. The price was paid not in silver and gold, but with his precious blood shed for all of us. The sinless spotless lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Because Christ gave us a kiss of love for our betrayal, Peter says we must show sincere love for each other as brothers and sisters.

You are cleansed from your sins when you obey the truth, so now, he says, you must show sincere love for each other. Love each other deeply with all your heart. That's verse 22. This letter ends with a kiss, so let's do that. I know that right now is kind of a strange time to be thinking about, let alone actually trying to do what the scriptures are admonishing us to do here. It might be a real long time before we offer each other a kiss of love at our churches, But there are other ways that we can. We can show kindness to each other. We can embrace each other regardless of our differences.

We can we can do what Peter has said here. We can do what the spirit implores us to do even if for a while we have to hold back from actually physically kissing one another. But the point still stands, doesn't it? It does indeed. Christ offers us that kiss today. Go ahead and receive it. Allow yourself to receive that. You might cringe at first at the thought for a whole host of reasons, but just take a moment, will you? And receive god's kiss, god's embrace, of you.

Amen.

December 15th, 24:Heather Returns: Exploring the Teachings of James, Chapters 1 through 515 Dec 202400:24:12

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome to Daily Radio Bible, where we embark on a spiritual journey through the scriptures each day. Today is December 15th, and it’s day 350 of our adventure together. I’m Heather, usually your Sunday companion, and though I’ve missed a couple of Sundays, I’m thrilled to be back. Today, we’ll dive into the Book of James, exploring chapters 1 through 5. James offers timeless wisdom on trials, faith, and actions, urging believers everywhere to embrace patience and perseverance as we await the Lord’s return. After our reading, we’ll reflect on trusting God’s process, much like a farmer awaits his harvest. Join me as we gather around the fire of God’s love, seeking illumination through the Holy Spirit. And don't forget to stick around for our prayer time, uplifting words to start your day with strength and peace. Let’s jump right in.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

James likely wrote these letters that we've read today about 15 or 20 years after the death of Jesus.

It seems that the early believers were expecting Jesus to return within their lifetime and were growing tired of waiting for things to be made right under his rule. Every generation since is in need of James' exhortation to be patient as you wait for the Lord's return. For anyone who has grown crops or plants, there is a lot of waiting involved. James does well to remind us of the farmer and how it is that crops grow. We can plant and tend a field or a garden or a window box, but it is the rains, something we cannot bring about, that actually aid in bringing the plant to full maturity. There is plenty in the world that is waiting for the life saving rain so that it can come to full maturity and bear fruit. We all are in need of this continual reign. James' reminder to his readers is to trust the process.

We can be courageous and hopeful even in the face of slow growth and seeming fruitlessness. We are to rest in the wisdom and love of God who is committed to the restoration and renewal of all things. Together, let us trust in the good farmer, the master gardener, the one who made his life to live within us and loves the world he has made. Take courage. The Lord is near to you today. And now, let's pray together.

Amen

December 14th, 24:Exploring the Scriptures: December 14th, 2024 - Insights from Hebrews and Jude14 Dec 202400:21:11

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 14th, day 349 of our year-long journey through the scriptures. I’m your host, Hunter, your Bible reading coach and brother, here to explore the transformative power of God’s word with you. Today’s readings take us through Hebrews chapters 12 and 13, and the single chapter of Jude. We'll reflect on discipline, perseverance in faith, love for one another, and the eternal hope we possess. We’ll also delve into powerful prayers and reminders of God’s faithful love. Let's embark on this enlightening journey together, seeking daily transformation through God's word. Join me, and let’s discover the richness of Scripture and the assurance of a hope-filled future. Let’s get started!

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

We're making our migration home. Through all the seasons of life, we used to live in a place where we had sandhill cranes that we could watch out our back window. Those cranes sometimes migrate all the way across the Bering Strait to Siberia, to their mating grounds, where it all began. When the winter begins, they'll make their journey back. These days in December are some of the longest nights and coldest days of the year. But starting December 21st, the days will slowly grow longer and the nights shorter.

These amazing cranes will begin to make their way home, drawn by an inexplicable call, some kind of life within them drawing them back. And so it is with us. You may be in a winter season where the nights are long and the days are too short, But don't forget that you are on a journey too, and that journey will lead all of us home. The writer of Hebrews wants to remind us all that the world is not our permanent home. He says this in verse 13-fifteen. So let us go out to him, outside the camp, and bear the disgrace he bore. For this world is not our permanent home. We are looking forward to a home yet to come.

Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. So let's keep going forward, setting our focus and our heart on our permanent home. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that is the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer. Feel free to read along with these prayers in the show notes of today's podcast and meditate on these words that are being spoken over you, your family, and our world.

December 13th, 24:Walking By Faith: Deep Dives into Hebrews 9-11 and Daily Prayers13 Dec 202400:24:53

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome, dear friends, to the Daily Radio Bible, and thank you for joining us on this 13th day of December—day 348 in our journey through the scriptures. I'm your host, Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach. Today, we dive deep into the transformative power of God's love as we explore Hebrews chapters 9 through 11. Together, we'll reflect on the old and new covenants, the ultimate sacrifice of Christ, and the profound essence of faith that our forefathers lived by. This episode invites us to walk by faith, participate in God's purposes, and embrace his love and promises. As always, we conclude with heartfelt prayers, lifting up our needs and the needs of the world. So grab your Bible, settle in, and let's journey together into the heart of God's word. Remember, you are deeply loved. Join me as we explore today’s scriptures and seek transformation through His living word.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Faith is our participation in God's purposes in this world. People of faith understand that the universe is created by God, that he is a good God, and that he rewards those who seek after him. People of faith have hope, not in their own performance, but in the performance of God. They hope not in their works, but in the completed work of Christ.

People of faith recognize their need of God. Their reputation here in this world is rarely recognized, but they have a reputation somewhere else. They have a reputation with God as those who know and love him and those who are known and loved by him. God is not so much concerned about the quality of our faith as the object of our faith. Our faith is in him. He's not asking us to conjure up more faith. No. He wants us to awaken to the one who was faithful, to put our trust in him, in his ultimate faithfulness to the father in accomplishing all of the father's purposes.

And now our faith enables us to see that and to participate in what God is doing now here among us, to walk with him, and to continue to know and discover his heart, not only for us, but for the whole world. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will walk by faith, that I will participate with him, in his purposes, and his plan, and in his joy. That's a prayer that I have for my family too, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son, And that's a prayer that I have for you.

Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Engage with scripture readings, heartfelt devotionals, and collective prayers that draw you into the heart of God's love. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you.

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome to another heartfelt episode of the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 12th, 2024, and we are on day 347 of our year-long journey through the scriptures. I'm Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, and it's my joy to walk alongside you as we dive into the transformative power of God's Word. Today, we'll explore Hebrews chapters 5 through 8, uncovering profound insights about Jesus as our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. We’ll reflect on the hope that serves as an anchor for our souls, leading us into God's most intimate and secure sanctuary. Let's open our hearts and minds to be deeply touched by the God who is love. Join us as we embark on this spiritual journey together, and stay tuned for our time of prayer and community updates. Let's dive in!

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

The most real, the most essential part of your identity is your soul. Our flesh, our bodies, they fail, and one day we'll be no more as they are, but our soul will remain. Our soul is eternal. Hebrews 6/19 says, this hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary. It's so easy for us to lose ourselves in this storm filled world. But the truest thing about your soul is found and anchored in your union with Christ. This anchor is held fast in the most secure and private and intimate of places with God.

The Holy of Holies is being described here. In chapter 6 verse 19 and 20, he goes on to say, it leads us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. The anchor of our souls leads us through the curtain into the inner sanctuary, that intimate, private, secure, safe place. The truest thing about you is found and is at rest with God. God has set aside this place to reveal himself to you and to reveal you to you. He wants you to know who you really are. So don't let the world determine the truest thing about you.

Don't let your past determine the truest thing about you. Oh, he has established that already, and you are anchored securely with him. As you walk with God and spend time in his presence, he will reveal your soul to you. So come to him recognizing that you're anchored in him, allowing him to lead you into that most secure of places. Right with him, There you'll find the life, the hope, the courage, the strength that you need to move forward in this life with joy. And that's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you.

Amen.

JOURNAL PROMPTS:

Here are three journaling prompts based on today's readings from Hebrews chapters 5 through 8:

  1. Understanding Priesthood and Sacrifice

    • Reflect on the concept of Jesus as the perfect High Priest who offered himself as a sacrifice for our sins. How does this understanding influence your faith and daily life? Consider journaling about any areas where you struggle to accept or fully grasp the magnitude of this sacrifice and what steps you can take to deepen your understanding.

  2. Spiritual Maturity

    • Hebrews 5:12-14 talks about the need for believers to move from spiritual infancy (milk) to maturity (solid food). Take some time to reflect on your spiritual journey. Are there aspects of your faith where you feel you are still "drinking milk"? What steps can you take to grow and mature in those areas? Write about your plan for seeking deeper spiritual understanding and growth.

  3. The Anchor for Your Soul

    • Hebrews 6:19 describes hope as a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls, leading us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary. Reflect on what or who serves as the "anchor" in your life. How do you anchor your soul during challenging times? Consider journaling about the ways you can strengthen this connection and rely more fully on your hope in Christ as your anchor.

These prompts can help guide your reflection and provide a deeper engagement with the Bible passages read in today's episode.

December 11th, 24:From Philemon to Hebrews: December 11th Insights on Love, Faith, and Rest11 Dec 202400:23:27

Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, dear ones, on this 11th day of December, as we journey through the scriptures together. I'm Hunter, your Bible reading coach, and today marks day 346 of our shared path through the Bible. As we approach the year’s end, I'm grateful for your continued companionship. Today, we'll dive into the letter of Philemon and the first four chapters of Hebrews.

We reflect on Paul's heartfelt plea to Philemon and explore the profound truths in Hebrews about Jesus' divine nature, His eternal priesthood, and the rest promised to believers. Our focus is on holding firmly to the gospel and coming boldly before the throne of grace, drawing strength from Christ, our High Priest.

Join me in prayer and meditation as we seek courage, grace, and help in our time of need. And as we wrap up today, a special thanks to all who support this ministry. Let's embark on this spiritual journey together, holding firmly to our faith and remembering that we are loved. Let's dive in!

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Hold firmly. Come boldly. These are the last two instructions given in this reading from verse 14. Since we have a great high priest who has entered heaven, Jesus, the son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. What is it you believe? Do you believe that you have to perform for God in order to find life and favor with God? This is the cornerstone of all religion.

You do this and God will do that quid pro quo, this for that, But the writer wants you to hold firmly to something altogether different. He's not telling you to hold firmly to religion. He wants you to hold firmly to what you believe, and what we believe is the gospel. We believe in Jesus. He is the gospel, and the gospel is not about you. It's not about your performance. It's about him. It's about what Christ has done for us.

It's resting in him, in his performance, if you will, and in his life and work for us, seen ultimately in its culmination in his life, his death, his resurrection, his ascension. When we hold firmly to him, we can come boldly to him to the throne of grace. You can come boldly because you're not coming on the basis of your own merit, but on his. It is there that you will find grace and help in your time of need, and that time is now. We are always in need of the gospel in our lives. We are always in need of grace and help. We are always in need of him. So hold firmly to the gospel and come boldly to him, the one who sits on a throne of grace.

That's a prayer that I have for my own heart today, for my own soul. And that's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you.

Amen

December 10th, 24:Paul's Wisdom from Prison: Lessons and Encouragement10 Dec 202400:21:29

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! Today is the 10th of December, day 345 on our journey through the Scriptures. I'm Hunter, your Bible reading coach and brother in faith, here to guide you as we explore the Good News together from start to finish each year. Our focus today is on 2nd Timothy, chapters 1 through 4. We'll delve into Paul's heartfelt exhortations to Timothy as he nears the end of his own life. Paul encourages us all to stay focused, endure hardships, and remain faithful to our calling.

After the readings, we'll reflect on Paul's powerful messages from the perspective of someone who has finished the race and won the prize. We'll delve into key themes like staying focused on God’s word, the importance of teaching and endurance, and finding courage through Christ, especially in times of suffering.

Plus, join us for a time of prayer as we seek courage and guidance in these Advent days, waiting in expectation for the coming of Christ. And a special thank you to our podcast partners for making this journey possible.

Tune in and take a moment to feed your soul with the enduring wisdom of the Scriptures, and remember, you are deeply loved by God. Let's get started!

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

We're in the coach's corner, and Paul is giving us some perspective from the finish line. Some perspective from someone who's already won his race. In verse 7, chapter 4, Paul says this. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race.

And I have remained faithful. Paul standing at the finish line, looking back at his protege, Timothy, and coach Paul wants to give him and us some perspective. He has a few things he wants to share with us. Stay focused. There's no off season. Do what you call to do. Preach the word of God and offer the gospel of Christ. Correct,

Keep a clear mind. Renew your mind by staying focused on the gospel. Don't be afraid. You'll have to suffer in this life, But the suffering will pass and God will be with you each step of the way. You must keep focused and stay in the fight. The race has an end point. He knows. He's standing on the other side.

Paul says, I've run the race. I've finished it. I've won the prize. And my brothers and sisters, there's a prize that awaits us. There's a crown of righteousness, absolute wholeness, absolute healing, absolute joy. Having finished his race and looking back from that line, coach Paul has us in the coach's corner, and he's shouting out to us courage, wisdom, perspective. Receive it well. Take it to heart.

Stay focused, and don't be afraid. Keep fighting the fight. Keep your mind clear and run to the end. God is with you, and he is good. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul today. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.

Amen.

December 9th, 24:Living the Word: Lessons from 1 Timothy and Titus09 Dec 202400:22:32

TODAY'S EPISODE:

🌟 Daily Radio Bible: December 9, 2024 - Reflecting on Service and Advent

Good day, dear ones!

🕊️ Reflecting on Service and Advent:

Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, dear friends! Today is December 9th, 2024, and we are on day 343 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm Hunter, your host, and Bible reading coach, here to guide you through today's readings and reflections. Together, we'll explore 1 Timothy chapters 5 and 6, and the entire book of Titus. Our focus will be on themes of respect, godliness, selflessness, and the importance of serving others. We'll conclude with a heartfelt prayer, seeking courage, patience, and anticipation during this Advent season. So, settle in and let the living Word of God speak to your heart today. Let's dive in!

TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL:

Focus on others, Paul says, here in verse 14.

Our people must learn to do good by meeting the urgent needs of others, then they will not be unproductive. Ironically, the opposite is true. If you want to have an unproductive life, an unfruitful life, then focus only on yourself. Zig Ziglar put it this way, you can get everything in life you want if you'll just help enough other people to get what they want. And in John 12 24, Jesus says, I tell you the truth. Unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels, a plentiful harvest of new lives. A productive and fulfilling life comes when we take the focus off ourselves and begin to serve others.

This doesn't mean that your life isn't worth anything, that abasement and self degradation are the goal. No. Your life is absolutely worthy of respect and love and care. Christ has demonstrated for us just how valuable your life is, and he has shown us the context of our lives. We are creatures that are made in relationship to others, and your own unique gifting and glory will find its deepest and truest expression as we pursue our lives in service to others. When we die to making this life about us, then we will have all that we want, more than we could have imagined, in this life and in the life to come, and we can actually begin to do that now. Because our anxieties about our lives have been dealt with in Christ. He has restored our self respect.

He has made clear what our value is. So we don't have to try to compensate for something we think is missing and fight to make this life all about us. The gospel of Mark says this, for even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. So let us learn to do good by meeting the urgent needs of others, and we will not be unproductive. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you.

Amen.

📖 Episode Title: December 8th, 2024

TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL TRASCRIPT:

There's a secret that can no longer be hidden. Paul says this message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it's been revealed. Now Paul knows that god is not a tribal deity for a select few.

No. Paul now sees that the god of Israel is the God of all people. God has included all of humanity into his life and community. Paul now sees that the riches and the glory of Christ are for Gentiles too. God has come to reinhabit humanity, to restore all people to their original design. Christ will be all in all, and Christ is in you, says Paul. And he's blown away, And so should we be. God reconciled everyone to himself through Christ's death on the cross.

Christ defeated the kingdom of darkness, and he's transferred us now into his kingdom of light. He's purchased our freedom and forgiven our sins. And this isn't just a possibility for a select few who do the right things. This is what God has already done, accomplished on the cross for all, And that's why it's so radical. This is the good news. Our efforts at making peace with God were taken out of our hands and put into the hands of Jesus, and he answered on behalf of all humanity. Paul says, he made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ's blood on the cross, and this includes you. This news of God's grace for all has changed Paul's life.

Paul never saw it this way before. This has resulted in a new reality, and that reality is this, Christ lives in you. This is the gospel truth, and Paul can't stop talking about it. Paul wants you to know what God has done and what you have become. You are his. He's transferred you from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of his dear son. He's purchased your freedom and forgiven all your sins. He is your father too, and you are loved.

The secret's out, and it's so much better than they told us. And Paul wants you to know, and so do I. Christ lives in you. Hallelujah. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will boldly proclaim this good news as I ought, that it will fill my heart and give me joy. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you.

TODAY'S PRAYERS:

TODAY'S TRANSCRIPT:

Do you wanna know one thing I do that has made all the difference? You might be interested because you've listened to me on this podcast for a while, or you might not give 2¢ for what I do. What I do might not make a whole lot of difference to you one way or the other. But if it were the apostle Paul posing the question about what he has done that has made all the difference, well, my hunch is that you would lean forward.

You would very much like to know that one thing that Paul has done that's made the difference. Well, thankfully, Paul tells us Here in verses 13 and 14, he says, no, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing. Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and to receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. The one thing I do, Paul says, is I forget the past and I stay focused on what lies ahead. If you focus on the past, you'll likely project it into your future. Paul reminds us that we have to stay focused on the right thing. It's not that we deny our past or pretend it didn't happen. Rather, we let god help us to face whatever it is that's haunting us from the past to learn from it and move forward.

Paul had the blood of Christians in his past, but it was his encounter with Jesus that gave him the power to look at things for what they really were, to see clearly the lies that led him to commit such devastating harm, to experience God's grace in the most devastating of places, to deal with the ramifications, and to move forward with grace and love. One reason we struggle to forget our past is because we have never allowed God to meet us there. When you allow god to access your past, he will show you what you need to know. He will not condemn you. No. He will walk with you through the ramifications, and he will restore you. Paul learned this one thing, and he wants to share it with us. Let's allow God to meet us in our past.

He was there already. Whatever it was, it's no shocker to him. Let him show you what you need to see. He will walk with you through the ramifications. All the while, his grace will be mending and restoring and making things new, and we can begin to move forward with him. So let's let him do what he needs to do, freeing you from your past so that you might focus on his good future for you. And that's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

December 5th, 24:Embracing Grace in Ephesians: A Journey Through Ephesians 1-405 Dec 202400:26:19

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Dear Daily Radio Bible Family,

Good day to you all, dear ones! As we gather on this 5th day of December, it marks day 341 in our incredible journey through the Bible. Thank you for joining us again today, or if you're new, welcome to our loving community!

📖 Today's Episode Recap:

In today's episode, Hunter revisits Ephesians chapters 1 through 4 to correct a mix-up from yesterday. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is a powerful reminder of God's grace and our identity in Christ. Here are some key themes:

  • Identity in Christ:

Paul emphasizes who we are in Christ—chosen, adopted, and redeemed.

  • Unity and Peace:

The unity between Jews and Gentiles through the peace Jesus offers is a cornerstone of these chapters.

  • Living Out Faith:

As believers, we are encouraged to put on our new nature, which reflects God's love and righteousness.

    🧠 Reflection and Analogy:

Hunter draws a poignant analogy between our Christian journey and Mr. Miyagi's advice in "The Karate Kid": "Wax on, wax off." Just as Daniel is taught to put on new skills, we are called to put on our new nature in Christ and remove our old, sinful habits. This process starts by understanding and living out our identity in Christ.

    🙏 Time for Prayer:

Hunter leads us through transformative prayers, focusing on gratitude, empowerment, and the mission of spreading peace and love.

    • Morning Prayer for Safety and Purposes

: Asking for God's guidance throughout the day.

    • Global Unity Prayer

: Praying for peace and unity among all peoples.

    • Prayer of St. Francis

: Seeking to be instruments of peace and love in the world.

    • Lord's Prayer

TRANSCRIPTION DEVOTIONAL:

Wax on, wax off. Do you remember that? These are mister Miyagi's words to Daniel san in the movie Karate Kid.

This passage in Ephesians for some reason reminds me of that. Our Christian life starts by putting on what we are and Paul spends the better part of these three chapters telling us who we are and encouraging us to put it on, wax on. We are in Christ, he says repeatedly. God has made us new in Christ. He took us who were not his people and he made us his own people. He took us who were not citizens and he made us his own citizens and he adopted us as his own children. He has done all of this for us by means of his death on the cross. He did it for us.

He forgave our sins. He made us new in him by his grace, and that, my friend, is what you are. You are his. You are in him. So put that on. God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. That is what you are. Put that on!

The Christian life begins and ends including everything in between by putting on Christ, living out who you are. Wax off. We need to take off what we no longer are. You are not your old self. You are not the summation of all your old failures, all your old feelings and lusts, desires, regrets, and shames of the past? No. Take it off. That's not who you are. Put on who he says you are in him.

It's by living out of who you are that you'll have the power to put away what you are not. It doesn't go the other way around either. It's not putting away all the old stuff so you can really begin to live who you are. No. It begins with understanding and living in who you are. Then you'll have the power, the perspective, the presence of God within you that enables you to live that life, to take off what needs be taken off. You can't muster it up by trying really hard. Right? There's no physical, spiritual, emotional, or psychological regime that can equip you well enough to do what you wanna do.

No. It's only the power of God living in and through you that can accomplish that. Paul ends the chapter by saying, since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature created to be like God, truly righteous and holy. It's only then after we have put on the new nature that we have power to stop lying to ourselves, to stop lying to others, to stop stealing from ourselves and others, to stop letting our language be abusive and harmful to others, to be rid of bitterness and rage, slander, etcetera. It's as we put on who we are in him that we have power to put off who we are not. Wax on, wax off.

And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will live in the reality of what is, what God has done. My inclusion into Christ, and that from that place of undeserved grace, I will take off all that stands in the way of me living what is mine. And that's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son.

Amen.

TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL:

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. That's from John 10. What we do here every day and for the last 8 plus years at this podcast is to train our ears to hear the word of God, that our eyes would be open to see who he is and what we've become. We're training our ears to hear the word of our shepherd so that he can reveal to us those things that are of supreme worth. I know them, and they follow me.  Our eyes and our hearts so quickly forget.

David ends this Psalm by saying, I have wandered away like a lost sheep. Come and find me. Even in a world where we lose our way and we wander astray, there is something that remains true. There is a person who has found a way to reach us in our wandering that heals, restores, and makes all things new. David says he has not forgotten this. He has not forgotten because he's trained his heart to hear from the heart of God. And what David struggles to make clear, Jesus has revealed to us in absolute clarity who God is and what we have become. Jesus has revealed to us without equivocation that God is good.

He is the father of lights. Every good and perfect gift comes from him, and he is the father of all creation. Every human being who's ever been born finds their origin in God, and God is good. We could forget this. We often forget this. But the scriptures can help us to remember this truth. The scriptures can also help us remember who we are. We are his.

We are redeemed. We are made new, and we are loved. And the prayer of my own heart today is that we will see this and that we will participate in all that God has for us, that our hearts will be trained in his way of love. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

December 3rd, 24:Embracing God's Love and Authority: Insights from Romans03 Dec 202400:26:30

TODAY'S EPISODE:

This is Hunter from Daily Radio Bible, and I'm excited to share with you the highlights and insights from today's podcast episode titled, "Confident Hope in Christ."

🎧 Episode 336 Recap:

Today, we journeyed through Romans chapters 13-16, reflecting on Paul's profound words to the early church. Here's a glimpse of what we discussed:

  1. Living Under Authority: Romans 13 reminds us of the importance of submitting to governing authorities, as all authority is established by God. It urges us to live honorable lives, love our neighbors, and fulfill God's law through love.

  2. Acceptance and Unity: In Romans 14-15, Paul emphasizes accepting fellow believers, regardless of their differing convictions about food and sacred days. He encourages us to live in harmony, aiming for unity and building each other up.

  3. Paul's Mission and Ministry: Romans 15-16 provides insights into Paul's missionary journeys, his zeal for spreading the Gospel, and his heartfelt greetings to fellow workers in Christ. He commends various individuals for their dedication and service.

  4. A Prayer for Hope: We concluded with Paul's prayer from Romans 15: "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."

Throughout the episode, we were reminded of the centrality of Christ in our lives and the confident hope we have in Him. It's a hope that sustains us, fills us with joy, and empowers us to live out our calling with boldness and love.

Amen.

TRANSCRIPT:

Let's end this with Paul's prayer from Romans 15, where he says, I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. And to that I say, amen. That's Paul's heart and why he's written. He wants God's people to live with confident hope even in the midst of persecution. He wants them to remember what they already know, the gospel of Christ. He wants them to remember to live out the gospel through the power of the Holy Spirit. The only person that can

Be confident in Him. Let the reality of his work in life in you fill you with confident hope. May we all press forward in this confidence that we find in Christ, his abiding life in us. Regardless of what we encounter in this life, whether things given or things taken away through it all, may we be able to stand in confident hope, not in ourselves or circumstances, but entirely on him, through him. He is thoroughly good, completely able. He works things out according to his own purposes in his plans, and they're all done for our good. Be confident of that. That's the truth.

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Dear Daily Radio Bible Family,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! We are so grateful to continue this journey with you through the scriptures. Each day is a blessing as we immerse ourselves in God's word, and we’re delighted to share this spiritual adventure with you.

Episode Highlight: December 2nd, 2024

In today's episode, Hunter guides us through Romans chapters 9-12. We are reminded of God's unwavering promises, the richness of His mercy, and the unity we have in Christ, whether Jew or Gentile. Paul's message is clear: it is our faith in Jesus that makes us right with God, not our adherence to the law or our righteous deeds. Romans 12 especially calls us to live transformed lives, genuinely love others, and trust in God's sovereignty.

A Thought to Ponder:

Hunter shared a profound insight: "Don’t just pretend to love others, really love them." Let’s strive not to reflect the world's superficial standards but be deeply rooted in the gospel, allowing Christ's life within us to shine genuinely in our relationships and actions.

Daily Prayer:

Lord, Almighty and Everlasting Father, preserve us with your mighty power and direct us to fulfill Your purpose. Help us sow love where there is hatred and bring light where there is darkness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

December 1st, 24:Exploring Romans: How God's Love Shapes Our Journey Through Faith01 Dec 202400:28:03

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Dear Beloved Listener,

Greetings to you on this beautiful 1st day of December! We are so grateful to have you join us as we journey through the final month of the year. As always, it is a blessing to spend time in the Word with you every day.

Episode Highlights:

Host: Hunter

Scripture Focus: Romans 5-8

In today's episode, Hunter delves into one of the most profound and theologically rich sections of the Bible—the book of Romans, chapters 5 through 8. These chapters offer us a powerful reminder of God's incredible grace and the transformative power of Christ’s love and sacrifice.

Key Takeaways:

  • Romans 5: We have peace with God through our faith in Jesus Christ. This chapter emphasizes the hope we have, even in suffering, because of God’s endless love and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

  • Romans 6: As we are united with Christ in His death and resurrection, we are called to live new lives, free from the power of sin.

  • Romans 7: The struggle with sin is real, but the law makes us aware of our need for Jesus, who rescues us from the power of sin and death.

  • Romans 8: There is no condemnation for those in Christ. We are now led by the Holy Spirit, called to be God's children. Nothing can separate us from God's love.

    Join Us in Prayer:

Here are the prayers Hunter offered during the episode. Feel free to meditate on these or share them with someone in need of encouragement:

    1. Daily Preservation:

      • "Lord God, preserve us with Your mighty power. Help us not to fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. Direct us in all that we do for Your purpose. Amen."

    2. Unity and Peace:

      • "O God, bring the nations into Your fold. Pour out Your Spirit on all flesh and hasten the coming of Your kingdom through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen."

    3. Instrument of Peace:

      • "Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; injury, pardon. For in giving, we receive, and in pardoning, we are pardoned. Amen."

    4. The Lord’s Prayer.

Devotional Transcript:

Amen. We are so far from home. Our whole being is lost. All of humanity is lost. It was lost in the garden. Lost to the self, lost to sin, lost because of Satan, lost because of a lie. We are so very lost, far more lost than we ever knew. And that is why God has given us the law.

Sin is so deceptive that it minimizes our plight. We are blind to how lost we are. But the law opens our eyes and shows us how far from home we truly are. God gave us his word to open our eyes. God gave us his word to prepare us to see and understand the living word, the logos, the incarnate son of God, the final word, Jesus himself. He, to use a fancy theological term, is the telos. And telos means the point or the purpose or the complete exposition of who god is and who we are in god. Humanity wasn't made for the law.

The law was made for us. Humanity was made for god. The law isn't the point. God is the point. Our life in God is what Jesus has come to demonstrate and to make possible for everyone. And the prayer of my heart is that I will see the blessing of the law, the intent and purpose of the law, and that I will let the law point me to the one that I was made for, To Jesus. He is the telos. He is the point, the purpose, and he has come to reveal himself to you and to the whole world.

That we might be set free, that we might be found, that we might come home. May god open our eyes to see him. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul, and that's the prayer that I have for my family. My wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer. Feel free to read along with these prayers in the show notes of today's podcast, and meditate on these words that are being spoken over you, your family, and our world.

November 30th, 24:30 Nov 202400:26:44

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Dear Daily Radio Bible Family,

As we usher in the final day of November, we are reminded of the beauty and truth found in the scriptures. My name is Hunter, your Bible reading coach, and I am delighted to spend this day with you, diving deep into the Word of God. Today marks day 335 of our journey, and we have some profound wisdom to explore in the book of Romans.

Today's Episode: A Journey Through Romans

In today's episode, we're reflecting on Romans 1 through 4, where Paul takes us on an epic expedition, bridging the timeless teachings of Moses and Abraham with the gospel of grace. Paul profoundly illustrates that being made right with God isn't about obedience to the law alone but about a faith-driven relationship with Him. It's a concept that was as revolutionary in Paul’s time as it is today.

Key Highlights:

  • God’s Promise of Grace

: Paul emphasizes that God’s promise is not confined to those who obey the law but is extended freely to all who have faith, much like Abraham did.

  • The Nature of Faith

: Discover how true circumcision is not a ritual but a change of heart, showing us that outward actions pale in comparison to inward faith.

  • Our Righteousness Through Jesus

: Understand how we are made right with God through our faith in Jesus Christ, a gift of grace that transcends our shortcomings.

Episode Reflections: Paul’s message is clear: God is not calling us to be merely law-abiding, but God-abiding. He seeks to write His laws on our hearts, transforming us into new creations filled with His love and grace. Let’s embrace this truth and seek a deeper, more personal encounter with Him every day.

Prayers for Today

As we meditate on today’s scriptures, let us enter a time of prayer:

  • Morning Prayer:

“Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day. Preserve us with your mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

  • Prayer for Unity:

“O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the Earth and sent your blessed Son to preach peace. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you. Bring the nations into your fold and pour out your spirit on all flesh. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

  • Prayer of St. Francis:

“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Lord, grant that I might not seek so much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen.”

Devotional Transcript:

Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping, believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, that's how many descendants you will have. And Abraham's faith did not weaken even though, at a 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead, and so was Sarah's womb. Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this, he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do what he promised. And because of Abraham's faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn't just for Abraham's benefit.

Hunter00:17:18 - 00:18:19

It was recorded for our benefit too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus, our lord, from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God. And now may the God who makes us right, may he now give his blessing to the reading of his word. Amen. Join the expedition. Paul is taking us on a beautiful, epic, amazing expedition on a visit to Moses and Abraham. Paul says that they both point us to the gospel of grace. Moses and the prophets show us a way to be made right with God, and it's not about keeping the law, which is completely contrary to what most people thought during his time.

Hunter00:18:20 - 00:19:06

He wasn't trying to make us law abiding people. He was seeking to make humanity new with laws that are written inside of our hearts. Not law abiding people, but god abiding people. It's kind of the same today. So many Christians still think that it's about becoming law abiding when the gospel clearly proclaims that it is God who has come to abide with us in order that he might make us all new people. This is how God has made us right with himself. He's done the whole thing. Paul had an encounter with the person of Jesus and that changed everything.

Hunter00:19:07 - 00:20:05

After meeting Jesus, he never read the bible the same again. So that's my prayer for us every day when we come to the scriptures that we might encounter the God of love, the God who's come to us just as we are, to reveal himself to us just as he is, full of grace and full of truth. And the prayer of my own heart today is that as we go on this adventure of faith, that as we look into the scriptures, we'll be able to see exactly what they're saying. That they are not the point. Moses and the prophets are not the point. But they do indeed point us to the source of life, the one alone who has made us right with the father. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul, and that's the prayer that I have for my family. And that's the prayer that I have for you, dear friend.

TODAY'S EPISODE:

Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible podcast on this 29th day of November, day 334 in our journey through the scriptures. I'm your host, Hunter, and I'm here to walk with you as we dive into God's Word, letting it guide us closer to the Living Word himself. Today, we'll be exploring passages from 1 Thessalonians chapters 4 and 5, and 2 Timothy chapters 1 through 3. We'll be reminded of our call to live holy lives, the promise of Christ's return, and the importance of steadfastness in our faith journeys. Alongside these powerful scriptures, we'll reflect on avoiding the temptation to check out from our spiritual responsibilities and instead, heed Paul's encouragement to engage actively in God's work. We'll conclude with a time of prayer, offering gratitude and seeking strength for the day ahead. Join me as we kindle the fire of His love in our hearts and navigate the path together. Let's begin.

Amen.

Hunter:
These teachers oppose the truth, just as Janus and Jambres opposed Moses. They have depraved minds and a counterfeit faith, but they won't get away with this for long. Someday, everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as with Janice and Jambres. But you, Timothy, certainly know what I teach and how I live and what my purpose in life is. You know my faith, my patience, my love, and my endurance. You know how much persecution and suffering I have endured. You know all about how I was persecuted in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. But the Lord rescued me from all of it.

Hunter:
Yes. And everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived. But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know that you can trust those who taught you. You have been taught the holy scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives.

Hunter:
It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. The end is coming. The end is near. That's what these so called teachers were saying. And though it is a true statement that the end is coming and is near, these guys were taking it up a notch. They were false prophets trying to lead God's people astray. They were trying to get them to come in from the fields of God's work and head up on the rooftops.

Hunter:
In effect, they were saying, abandon your call to the gospel. Come, put your flight suits on because Jesus is about to come and take us out of here. Sell out and check out. That was their false message. Now I've never been tempted to sell everything and put on a flight suit and sit on my rooftop to wait for the Lord to come back. No teacher has bamboozled me enough to go that far. But we can look at history, and we can see that there are those that have. This reference in Thessalonians is perhaps the first time we see this apocalyptic escapism come upon the church, but there is something similar that we can be tempted to.

Hunter:
We can be tempted to find some kind of spiritual justification for checking out and running away. Paul wants to encourage this church in Thessalonica, and he wants to encourage us. There's a work to do. God has reconciled the world to himself in Christ. He has set us free by his grace, and we have a responsibility to proclaim this message to the world, to come back to God. We have a responsibility. He is calling us not to be idle and check out. He's calling us to engage, to roll up our sleeves, and keep at the work that he's called us to do.

Hunter:
Paul's trying to shore up these folks. They've been rattled. People have told them that it's time to check out. But Paul is telling them this is the time to move forward. There are lots of ways that we can check out. You can check out with the bottle. You can check out online. You can check out a 100 different ways.

Hunter:
But Paul says, don't do it. Instead, he says, go forward. Don't grow weary in doing good. Keep your hand to the plow. Keep doing what God has asked you to do. Jesus is coming back, but there is work to do in our lives and in this world. There are men and women and boys and girls waiting to hear, waiting to see, waiting to be set free. Paul's prayer is that our hearts, in the meantime, would be full of understanding of what God has called us to as individuals and as communities of faith.

Hunter:
He prays that we would be a full expression of the love of God. He prays that the mark that distinguishes us would not be that we checked out, but that we engaged with acts of love and kindness in this world. The Lord is coming back. But until that time, we keep at what God has called us to do, allowing his joy to be our strength. And that's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

From healing a man with leprosy and calming a fierce storm to raising the dead and casting out demons, we witness the extraordinary authority and compassion of Christ. Along the way, we'll reflect on the deep messages of faith and dependence on God, drawing inspiration from a Roman officer who "gets it" like no other. Let's open our hearts to the scriptures, pour out our souls in prayer, and direct our lives towards God's purpose. Tune in and embrace the journey with us!

Amen.
