TODAY'S EPISODE:
Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible podcast! I'm your host, Hunter, and today is January 1st, 2025. As we kick off this new year, we're embarking on a transformative journey through the Bible, reading the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice. Together, we'll immerse ourselves in scripture, reflect, and pray, as we draw closer to Jesus and His boundless love.
In today's episode, we dive into the foundational chapters of Genesis, exploring the creation story, and begin the Gospel of Luke, witnessing the miraculous announcements of John the Baptist and Jesus' births. We'll discuss living a shame-free life through Christ and encourage you to say "yes" to His presence and forgiveness. Join us for a time of prayer and reflection, and let's start this year by focusing our hearts on the one who offers us true, abundant life. Remember, dear ones, you are loved. Let's get started!
TODAY'S DEVOTION:
Shame free living. That's how the story begins. God created man and woman, and they were without shame. But in the chapters ahead, we are going to see that they have been robbed of a life without shame.
We'll soon read all about it. We'll also read about the devastation that ensues. But as we read through the whole story of God, we're going to find that it doesn't end there. No. That would be bad news. But this is good news. And the good news is that God has sent his one and only son, the second Adam. And he's going to do everything necessary for us to get back to a life without shame.
A life lived with God. That's the whole point of this amazing story of the Bible. That this has been given to us. God has come to us at our lowest, the most shame filled places of our lives. Christ has come to meet us there, and he offers us there a real abundant shame free life. Some of you went through this last year carrying a lot of shame, but this year can be different. This year, you can come to him, not just pages in a book, but to Christ himself who is present with you and in you. And you can begin to open up your heart to him so that he might set you free from all the ways that shame has crippled your life.
The prayer that I have for my own soul today is that you and I would have the same spirit and heart that Mary had when she heard the good news. She said yes to it. She said yes. May it be unto me as you have just said. Maybe she didn't understand all of it. No doubt she didn't. But she was ready to say yes to God. And maybe that's something that you can do today.
Even though you don't understand all things, you can say yes to him who does. You can say yes If you've heard like I heard today in the reading that God intends for us to live without shame, then say yes to that. If you have heard as I have heard today that Jesus has come to take that shame away, To take away any barrier that would keep us from a life with him? Then maybe you and I can both say yes to that. Let me encourage you to say it, even in your unbelief. Go ahead and say it now. Yes, God. I believe. Help me in my unbelief.
I say yes to your presence in my life. I say yes to your forgiveness. I say yes to the hope that I can live without shame and in your strength. Maybe you just need to whisper it to yourself. Maybe you need to shout it out loud. It's important that we begin wherever we can. And maybe today, that beginning is simply a whisper of faint hope that maybe it's true. That maybe we can be free.
Maybe God really is with us. Maybe Christ really doesn't live in you. Maybe you really are loved by God. Maybe there's a way to live without shame. And to that, I say, yes. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you.
TODAY'S PRAYERS:
Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.
Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen
And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray...
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen.

TODAY'S EPISODE:
Welcome, dear ones, to the final day of the year and the concluding episode of 2024 on the Daily Radio Bible. I'm your host, Hunter, and today we reach the end of our year-long journey through the scriptures. We'll be diving into Revelation chapters 19 through 22, discovering the grand visions of the new heaven, new earth, and the holy city, New Jerusalem. As we reflect back on the year, celebrating the scriptures we've read, the lessons we've learned, and the transformations we've experienced, let's also look forward with hope and anticipation for what 2025 has in store. Thank you for being part of this journey, and as always, may God's joy be our strength as we move forward. Let's embark together – 2025, here we come!
TODAY'S DEVOTION:
It's only just begun. Even as we conclude this story, we see that a new story is just beginning. A new creation is coming. A new heaven and a new earth, a new city, a new Jerusalem with new citizens composed of all the nations, and these nations will walk in the light of God. They are enveloped in his light. They are his children of light. Today, as we consider these great mysteries, let's be sure of this. This story that we're living right now has an endpoint.
There is a conclusion that God is bringing it to, but it just doesn't end with a conclusion. No. Now we see that there is still more to come. In fact, the best is yet to come. And that can be a great reminder and a great comfort to our souls. As we see certain chapters of our own lives come to their conclusion, we can rest assured that God is not done. There's still more to come. Because with Him we have life.
We have life abundant and He promises to be with us through all of the seasons and the chapters of our lives, even as He has been this year and all that it brought, all its challenges, its misfortunes, its victories, and its joys. And he will continue to be with us as we walk into this next chapter. All that will unfold, we do not know, but we do know this, that God is with us, that he is good, and that we are loved. The prayer of my own soul today is that I will live in the light, that I will respond to the one who is the light of the world, the one who has come to give himself, that I might know him, that I might be free, that I might experience his peace and his joy. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

TODAY'S EPISODE:
Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 22nd, 2024, day 357 of our incredible journey through the Bible. I'm Hunter, your host and Bible reading coach, here to guide your hearts and minds toward Jesus. While Heather is away visiting family in Colorado, we gather here to immerse ourselves in the sacred scriptures. In this episode, we journey through John chapters 12 through 14, witnessing powerful moments like the anointing of Jesus by Mary, Judas's eventual betrayal, and Jesus's profound teachings on love, service, and the promise of the Holy Spirit. As we read, we'll explore the gift that Jesus offers—peace of mind and heart—timely words as we prepare our hearts for the Christmas season. So, settle in, open your hearts, and let’s dive deep into the living Word of God together.
TODAY'S DEVOTION:
I just went and did a little Christmas shopping right before doing this podcast. I was looking for gifts as you do when you go Christmas shopping. In today's reading, we hear that Jesus has offered us a gift. Verse 27 says, I am leaving you with a gift. Curious to know what it is? I mean, it is almost Christmas.
It's peace of mind and heart. That's the gift. It's unique to him, he says. No one in this world can give you that. Nothing in this world can give you that. Peace of mind and heart. Is your mind troubled? Is your heart troubled? Jesus is offering you a gift today, a living word of God. A man who walked about the land of Galilee, who performed miracles, who raised the dead, who offered himself on behalf of all of humanity, the creator of all things.
Creator of that ocean that I walked by today, looked out over. He offers me peace of mind and heart. All those anxieties that I have about my future, about my family, about finances, about health, about my mom, all those things that make my mind very unpeaceful. Jesus wants to give me peace. There in the midst of all that, he says, I have a gift for you, Hunter. Any place in my heart that is not settled or that is wounded, that is confused or injured, Jesus himself today says, I can bring peace there. I can quiet your heart even. So, if you're like me today, let us together say thank you.
Let us together find some time to to sit with this generous gift. And allow the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the counselor, the one who is with us now. Help us to open that gift, and to begin to live in the light of it, in the joy of it, in the love of it, receiving all that God has for each and every one of us. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the pair that I have for you. Peace, of mind, and heart. May it be so.

Today’s readings are Isaiah 60 – 62 and John 1. We are reading from the New Living Translation.
Jesus calls himself the Stairway. Prophets like Isaiah and John the Baptist were calling Jesus the Light, the Anointed One, the Messiah. But here, at the end of this chapter, Jesus calls himself the Stairway.
Then he said, I tell you the truth, you will all see heaven open and the angels of God going up and down on the Son of Man, the one who is the stairway between heaven and earth. (Jn1:51 NLT)
Jesus has come to unite heaven with earth, to bring the two together, he is the self described stairway between both. This is Jesus dream for the world, union with God. he beacons us to pray God’s will on heaven as it is on earth. Jesus has made this union a reality in his incarnation, atonement and ascension, that’s the gospel. And Now he invites the whole world to live in this new reality. He is stairway, and he is inviting us to take steps with him, in his life, the life that he shares with the Father and Spirit. He has come to call us to follow him, like Nathaniel, sitting there, earth bound under his tree, he invites him and us to see something greater things. union between God and man, union between heaven and earth.
Jesus is the stairway. And in him we will live and move and have our being – In him we can move from under our trees, upward and forward, receiving grace, strength, light and hope as we follow him. Rejoice while you are on the stairs, moving upward and forward in Him.

Soul Talk
Today’s reading are Isaiah 57-59, Psalm 103 and II Peter 3. We are reading from the New Living Translation.
How about we have a little ‘soul talk’? Sometimes our soul needs a good talking to. We need to develop the habit of speaking to our soul. In Psalm 103, some translations say,
Bless the Lord, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; (Ps 103:1-2 NASB)
The Psalmist then goes through the list, checking things off, one after another. In effect he is saying, Remember, Soul, this is what He’s done. You must bless Him, Soul. Remember, he has healed you. He forgives you. He redeems you. He crowns you with love. He satisfies you. He renews your strength. He vindicates the oppressed. He makes his ways known. On and on, the writer lists things that he wants his soul to know and remember
When we speak to our soul the focus moves off of us and is placed on Him. Did you notice that? Look at what He has done, not what you have done – whether it’s the mess you’ve made or the virtues you’ve displayed. Shift the focus off of you and onto Him. When we practice ‘soul talk’ we are really doing ‘gospel talk’. We’re speaking the Gospel – God’s good Word – into our lives. We need a good soul talk every day. Every day we need to speak the Gospel into our lives. We also need others to speak the Gospel into our souls. Let’s do that for each other. Let’s shift our eyes off of ourselves and onto Christ and others. Then we can speak hope, life, and the Gospel, not only to ourselves but to the souls of those around us. – our family, our church, our friends.
Are you feeling discouraged, afraid, condemned? Give yourself a good soul talk. Speak the Gospel to your soul. List the things that God has done for you. Recite the ways in which he has shown mercy and grace to you. Re-read Psalm 103. Write these things out. Develop the habit of speaking to your soul, daily, letting the good news of the Gospel seep down into the roots of your life.
