| Vegas Politician Claims He's Being Framed for Murder: Jury-GUILTY | 31 Aug 2024 | 00:41:05 | |
Jeff German, an investigative reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, was found dead outside his home. Days later, police released surveillance footage of a potential suspect wearing a wide-brimmed straw hat, an orange safety shirt, and black pants, seen walking near the scene. Further investigation revealed that German’s reporting had placed him in conflict with elected Public Administrator Robert Telles. Earlier, German had reported that Telles created a toxic work environment and was having an extramarital affair with an employee. These allegations seemingly contributed to Telles losing his re-election bid. Investigators searched Telles’ home, towing a red SUV and discovering shoes with apparent blood on them. A straw hat matching the one in the video was also found. Both items had been cut up in an attempt to destroy evidence, but DNA under German’s fingernails provided police with crucial evidence. Telles was arrested for German’s murder and has now been convicted. Joining Nancy Grace Today:

| 'Supermom' Sherri Papini Hubby 'Blindsided' Again | 13 Jul 2024 | 00:41:46 | |
Keith Papini was shocked to find out his wife's kidnapping was actually a hoax. The 39-year-old mom Sherri Papini was reported missing and told investigators when she was found 22 days later that a pair of Hispanic women kidnapped her at gunpoint. Papini said her kidnappers abused her and then shoved her out of a car. Papini was emaciated, her hair was cut shorter, and she had cuts and bruises all over her body, but prosecutors said she caused the injuries herself. The case was broken in 2020 when DNA led investigators to Papini’s ex, who told them she had been with him the entire time. Federal prosecutors charged Papini with 34 counts of mail fraud and one count of making false statements. Papini accepted a plea deal but didn't explain why she created an elaborate kidnapping hoax, although she apologized for her actions. Since her arrest, Papini's husband has started divorce proceedings, and Sherri Papini soon begins her jail sentence. Now, Sherri Papini, who is in a custody battle with ex-husband, is demanding he pay her $30,000 legal fees. Papini is now living with her new boyfriend in a $755,000 home, and driving a brand-new Jeep SUV. Papini also want more access to her children. Papini says she only makes $1,000 a month and has to pay half of that in rent. The convicted hoaxer is also demanding Keith Papini, hand of other items from their marital home including ‘Grandpa’s truck, an inflatable water slide, a leaf blower and a smart TV.' | Teen Perp Accused in Rape, Death of LSU Coed CHARGED AS ADULT | 02 Mar 2023 | 00:24:36
The minor accused of raping Madison Brooks in the back seat of a car will be tried as an adult. Desmond Carter, 17, has been indicted for first-degree rape and third-degree rape. Kaivon Washington, 18, is also charged with third-degree rape. Everette Lee, 28, and Casen Carver, 18, were charged with principal to third-degree rape, which means they were there when the incident occurred but did not take part in it. LSU student Madison Brooks is killed after being hit by a car. Brooks was standing in the road at the time. Police say Brooks left a Tigerland bar with four men. Two of the men, then allegedly rape the very inebriated 19-year-old. When Brooks cannot give the men her address, she is dropped off around 3 a.m. in a random neighborhood. That is when Brooks is hit by the car. That driver showed no signs or evidence of being impaired. At first police said the suspects videotaped the assault but in the last hours, recanted those comments and apologized for the error. There is, however, a video of Brooks arguing with the men in the car. The four men who left with Brooks claim the sex was consensual, but hospital staff says Brooks' blood alcohol level was nearly 4 times the legal limit. Nancy Grace discusses the latest in the case with Atlanta Attorney and LSU grad Renee Rockwell.

| Alex Murdaugh: Behavior of an Addict | 28 Feb 2023 | 00:27:39 | |
Alex Murdaugh admitted to jurors that he has been using opioid drugs for more than twenty years. At times, he said, he was spending as much as $50,000 a week on drugs. Murdaugh said his addiction began with a college football injury which lead to multiple surgeries and prescription pain medication. Murdaugh said that he soon became dependent. The accused killer also told the jurors that he had tried to get help several times but relapsed each time. Murdaugh said it was his addiction that led him to steal from the law firm, clients and his own family. Murdaugh also said it was his addiction and paranoia that impelled him to lie about his whereabouts on the night of the murder. Nancy Grace talks with addiction expert Dr. William Morrone, Author of “American Narcan," about how the opiates could have affected Murdaugh's actions. | Is Alex Murdaugh Believable? | 25 Feb 2023 | 00:27:30
Alex Murdaugh's testimony at times seems more like a circus than a courtroom with talk of dogs, and chickens. Murdaugh first related at length how he removed a chicken from his dog's month and the timing of it at the kennel. Then under cross-examination, the accused killer went over the activities at the kennel again, in exactly detail. Both the defense and prosecution look to use this testimony. One side saying the information proves Alex Murdaugh could not be a killer, the other side saying the testimony shows he lied. Murdaugh has repeatedly admitted that he stole money from clients and loved ones. He also admitted that he lied to police. So the question now is, can a jury believe that Murdaugh is now telling the truth when he says that he did not kill his wife and son. Nancy Grace and Sheryl McCollum, Founder: Cold Case Investigative Research Institute, look at the possibilities. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
| Pill Popping Serial Liar Alex Murdaugh Admits at Murder Scene | 24 Feb 2023 | 01:00:57 | |
Alex Murdaugh's cross-examination continued today with the disgraced attorney admitting that he had lied many times. Not only had he lied to investigators and clients but also his loved ones. Still, he insisted that he was telling the truth about his innocence. Murdaugh's testimony ended today and Dick Harpootlian, one of Alex Murdaugh’s lawyers, says more witnesses will be called on Monday. The prosecution could call two rebuttal witnesses after that. It's possible the case may be in the jury’s hands by mid-week. Joining Nancy Grace today:

| Alex Murdaugh to Take the Stand? | 22 Feb 2023 | 01:00:44 | |
Alex Murdaugh could take the stand in his own defense on Thursday. New reports speculated on whether the accused killer will take the stand. The defense attorneys laid the groundwork, asking the judge about the range of questions Murdaugh could be asked on cross-examine, and whether Murdaugh would be able to take his Fifth Amendment right against incriminating himself. Judge Clifton Newman said any ruling would be made as they happened, not before the testimony. Also in court today, Murdaugh's former friend and law partner testified about going to Moselle after hearing about the murders. Mark Ball said he was angry and mortified after hearing an officer say, "we have all we need," referring to evidence of Ball finding a baseball size chunk of Paul Murdaugh's skull still lying on the kennel floor. | Alex Murdaugh Defense: ‘Killer is Short’ | 21 Feb 2023 | 00:58:32
Alex Murdaugh's defense team began their day in court by calling Buster Murdaugh to the stand. He insisted that his father was “heartbroken” and “destroyed” after finding the bodies of his wife and son. The disgraced lawyer seemed to wipe away tears as his son said, “He asked me if I was sitting down … he sounded odd and then he told me that my mom and brother had been shot.” We also learned in testimony that just after discovering the bodies, Murdaugh searched online for a popular South Carolina restaurant. His phone records show a search for ‘Whaley’s Edisto’ in Safari browser” at 10:40 p.m. This timeline shows Murdaugh was still at the crime scene just 15 minutes after the first cop arrived. The restaurant he searched is one of the oldest in Edisto — where the Murdaughs’ main house is located. Later in the testimony, a forensic expert testified that Alex Murdaugh was too tall to be the shooter. Joining Nancy Grace today:

| Car Data Tracks Murdaugh’s Moves, DESTROYS DEFENSE TIMELINE | 17 Feb 2023 | 00:59:51 | |
After 61 witnesses, prosecutors in Alex Murdaugh’s double murder trial have rested their case. Once the long holiday weekend is over, the defense will continue to call its witnesses. Murdaugh's attorneys called two witnesses after the lunch break. Attorneys Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin say they expect their case to take about a week. Key testimony today before the prosecution rested included new phone data information, including the fact that Alex Murdaugh called 911 roughly 14 seconds after allegedly discovering his wife and son's bodies. The data also showed Maggie Murdaugh's phone moving at the same time as her husband's vehicle. The data indicated that Murdaugh's vehicle sped up quickly, and away from the location where Maggie Murdaugh's phone was found. Prosecutors can then put on a rebuttal case. Joining Nancy Grace today:

| OP HORROR: MOM HILLARY, 33, DIES AS PLASTIC-SURGEON-HUBBY "OPERATES" ON HER | 11 Jul 2024 | 00:40:37 | |
Hillary Ellington, a mother of three, is swept off her feet by Dr. Ben Brown, a renown plastic surgeon. After just one year dating, the couple marries in June 2022. Their relationship’s described as very “touchy-feely,” but volatile. Ellington has several plastic surgeries performed by her husband. She is set to go under her husband’s knife again for several procedures at the same time. Dr. Ben Brown prepares for an abdominal scar revision, bilateral arm liposuction, an ear adjustment, and lip injections in his office, while Ellington prepares her own anesthetic. Without supervision, Ellington mixes lidocaine into two IV bags, and takes a ‘handful’ of pills including Valium, Tramadol ], Cefadroxil, Zofran, and Versed. Before starting the procedures, Brown asks a nurse to give Ellington another dose of Versed, and asks a second nurse to prepare a bowl of undiluted Xylocaine. Brown injects both of Ellington’s self-made IV bags and the Xylocaine into his wife, then gets to work on the abdominal scar revision. Nurses notice Ellington’s feet twitching. Brown continues on to the liposuction in Ellington’s arms, then injects more Xylocaine into Ellington’s face for the upcoming ear adjustment and lip fillers. Ellington tells her husband that her vision is blurring, and she ‘sees orange.’ Brown administers more Xylocaine in Ellington’s face, when his wife suddenly starts seizing, and goes into cardiac arrest. Medical assistants ask Brown if they should call 911, and Brown tells them ‘no,’ hopeful to stabilize Ellington on his own. However, there is no oxygen or a defibrillator on hand in the office. Nurses repeatedly ask to call 911, and after 20 minutes of telling staff to wait, Brown finally agrees. First responders take over CPR and intubate Ellington before she is rushed to Ascension Sacred Heart’s Emergency room in cardiac arrest with suspected lidocaine toxicity. Ellington is stabilized with life support. A week after her admittance, Ellington is removed from life support and her organs are donated. After Hillary Ellington’s death, several former patients come forward with “horror stories” about their experiences with Dr. Ben Brown. Many report their abdominal wounds opening after stitches were removed, leaving them with gaping holes tunneling down to the muscle wall. Several patients who received breast implants from Brown were left with huge scars, nerve damage, infections, and many ultimately had the implants removed entirely by new surgeons. Former employees also claim the office used unsanitary cleaning procedures, and unlicensed individuals would often prepare anesthetics. After a nearly six-month investigation into ‘Restore’ after Hillary Ellington’s death, the Florida Department of Health issues an emergency order restricting Dr. Ben Brown’s medical license. Brown is restricted to only performing surgery under the supervision of a licensed surgeon at a licensed hospital. A month after the Department of Health’s emergency order, Brown is also criminally charged with second-degree murder by negligence for causing his wife’s death by over medicating her. Brown turns himself in, posts a $50,000 bond, and is released. Joining Nancy Grace Today:

| Alex Murdaugh's Damning Roadside 'Shooting-For-Hire' to be Heard by Jury | 16 Feb 2023 | 00:58:29 | |
Jurors learned today that Paul and Maggie Murdaugh were shot at close range. Dr. Kenneth Kinsey testified about the graphic wounds the pair sustained. Kensey said the first shot didn't kill Paul. In fact, Paul stood for a moment and began moving toward his killer, before he was hit with the second fatal shot. Kensey told jurors that the blood pattern proved this. Judge Clifton Newman also reversed his decision about allowing testimony on Murdaugh's alleged botched suicide plot. Judge Clifton Newman initially announced he would prohibit jurors from hearing evidence about Alex’s alleged botched attempt, but will now allow it after the defense opened the door with questions about Murdaugh's drug abuse and drug contacts. | Alex Murdaugh: 'THAT'S NOT ME" in Damning Video | 15 Feb 2023 | 01:01:19
Another bombshell in the courtroom today as Judge Clifton Newman ruled that testimony regarding Alex Murdaugh's alleged roadside shooting. September 2021, Murdaugh claimed he asked another man to shoot him so his surviving son could obtain millions in life insurance. Judge Newman ruled that the roadside shooting would be a “bridge too far” and “does not meet the logical relevancy test.” In testimony today, the jury in Alex Murdaugh’s double murder trial saw more footage of Alex Murdaugh's interviews with state investigators. SLED agent Lt. David Owen testified about his question in of Murdaugh. Owen said at the time Murdaugh was “the only known suspect” in the case. The footage shows Murdaugh being confronted with inconsistencies in his statements: specifically that Murdaugh claimed he ate dinner with his family, took a nap, and then drove to his mother's. He said he discovered the bodies when he returned. Regarding the video taken by his son, Murdaugh denies that it is his voice in the video. Murdaugh tells Owens that at 9 p.m. he was not at the kennels. The fact that Murdaugh had changed clothes was also brought up. Maggie Murdaugh's sister testified that Alex never seems scared while everyone else was. She also testified that her sister thought Murdaugh had an affair 15 years ago. Joining Nancy Grace today:

Puddles of water became the focus of cross-examination today of the man who took care of Alex Murdaugh’s dogs. Dale Davis testified that puddles of water were not where they should have been when police responded to the murders. Dale Davis said that when he left the afternoon of the murders, that water hose that he meticulously hung up was on the ground in a video reportedly taken by Paul Murdaugh. Roger Dale Davis Jr., cleaned the Murdaugh’s dog kennels twice daily. His routine involved hosing down the kennels with a hose. Davis would them roll up the hose oto keep it from breaking or kinking and then hang it outside. In the video, Davis pointed out, the hose had pressure on it, indicating that it had been used, and it was kinked. Under cross-examination, Davis acknowledged not everyone was as careful as he was with the hose. Joining Nancy Grace today:
