Hey y'all, American married to a Scot here, just wanted to offer my two cents about allergies and the U.K.
Allergies are indeed a thing over there. Even with all the rain and lack of sun, allergies exist. Most of the allergies are to the trees, grass, and the mold (from all the moisture). While they do not have the yellow bomb that we get here in the U.S., it manifests in its own hellish way. The Scotsman and the kiddos cannot tolerate trees and grass. I erroneously thought when I moved over there that my American-borne allergies would decrease - @#$% that...nope. Something that makes the allergies worse is that many have allergy-induced asthma (mostly with the damp and cold weather).

Recently, the exorcist for the D.C./Maryland diocese, Monsignor Stephen Rossetti, was fired for his remarks on a recent podcast about aliens and UFOs.
Everyone is in an uproar because Monsignor is a powerhouse in the exorcism and spiritual warfare communities and highly respected. The reasons for his firing are, at best, confusing. McElroy said that Rossetti's remarks 'gravely undermined' the Church's teachings. The funny thing is, there is nothing in the Catechism that speaks directly to or about the subject, and there are no formal doctrinal or traditional teachings on the subject either! This is where the conspiracies begin:
* Cardinal Robert McElroy, the archbishop of Washington, is the one responsible for Rossetti's firing, and he has a lot of questionable situations attached to him to start with. Is his firing of Rossetti personal, or is there something or someone else behind McElroy calling the shots? And why?
* Rossetti is the second exorcist this year to have controversy. Earlier this year, another prominent exorcist, Father Chad Ripperger, came under fire and had his life threatened after appearing on the Shawn Ryan Show.
* Rossetti is not just a Catholic priest. He is a Monsignor - which means it is an honorary papal title given as recognition for service to the Church. This alone lends credit to Rossetti's services to and in the Church. But, it doesn't stop there. He holds a PhD in psychology and is a licensed psychologist, was a Carthusian monk, and the best bit: served as an officer in the USAF as an intelligence officer. The dude has a lot going on that might make some people uncomfortable.
With UAP/UFO disclosure being a hot topic right now, along with all the missing/deceased folks from Los Alamos and JPL, and now we have TWO exorcists who have made comments about UFOs and BOTH have been dealt harsh blows as a result, everyone is asking: WTH is going on?!

You had me laughing on your description of the Brits. I am a Southern Belle married to a Brit - well, a Scot. Having lived in the UK and here, you nailed it in terms of their food, washing machines in the kitchen, and I could easily list a whole bunch of other stuff that is so different. The feelings that they (the Brits) are better than everyone else is real - until they marry an American and live here - quite the humbling experience for them. We live in central North Carolina and the hubs DIES every summer with the heat and humidity. Back to the food though, I'm also half Puerto Rican and so, we like a little spice to our food. This was a major adjustment for the hubs, but now, he's all about Southern comfort food and the Latino heat. Every once in a while though, he goes and stocks up at the Scottish grocery store in Greensboro LOL (Ma heed needs a break darlin' - he says)
