Your Mind Called. It Has Notes (and They Suck)28 Sep 202600:20:10

Ever feel like you’re living with an uninvited, highly critical roommate who follows you around all day telling you you’re going to screw up, everyone is judging you, and you should be further along by now?

But unfortunately, you can’t change the locks.

In this episode of Cranial Chaos: Cracking the Code, Carole breaks down how your mind can take a fear, insecurity, assumption, or opinion and report it like a non-negotiable fact.

In this episode, we cover:

  • Why your mind can sound wildly confident even when the evidence is shaky
  • Why Barbara from accounting does not get to decide how you feel
  • How to stop letting unproven thoughts quietly make your decisions for you

You may not be able to change the locks, but you can stop believing everything your roommate tells you. And from now on, they better bring receipts.

How the Hell Did THAT Get in There?21 Sep 202600:19:20

If you’ve ever caught yourself thinking, I always screw things up, relationships never work out for me, or this is just how I am - your brain may have quietly promoted a few old conclusions to “fact” without asking your permission.

Rude.

In this episode, Carole digs into how that happens.

Through a simple roast-pan story, a silent scorekeeper, and a few very human examples, we look at how beliefs get handed down, picked up, repeated, and built from our own experiences.

A mistake becomes a pattern.
A pattern becomes a belief.
And before long, that belief is sitting at the top of the mental junk drawer, ready to weigh in on your next decision like it owns the place.

We’ll also look at why some beliefs stick around long after the circumstances that created them are gone, and why that doesn’t automatically make them bad, stupid, or wrong.

Sometimes they simply outlive their purpose.

By the end, you may start looking at a few of your so-called “facts” a little differently.

Dead Batteries, Mystery Keys & The Mental Junk Drawer21 Sep 202600:16:06

If you are like most folks, you have a kitchen drawer is stuffed full of dead batteries, mystery keys, and loads of other random stuff you’ve accumulated over the years.

Well, your brain has a version of that too, which Carole calls your Mental Junk Drawer. Only this drawer is stuffed full of old beliefs, outdated rules, other people’s opinions, worst-case scenarios... and probably a few things you don’t even remember putting there.

In this episode, we’re opening it up to see what your brain reaches for when life happens and why all that rummaging can turn a perfectly ordinary moment into Cranial Chaos.

We’ll explore:

  • The Potato Masher Lesson: How something perfectly useful can make life harder when it’s sitting in the wrong place and blocking easy access to what you actually need.
  • The Taco Bell Sauce Packet Dilemma: How some things can hang around so long you don’t even remember why they’re still in there.
  • Why You Don’t Need to Dump the Drawer Out: Instead of digging around for problems, we life point towards what’s active by noticing what feels off, what isn’t working, and the reactions that make you wonder... “What the hell was THAT about?”

Plus, Carole leaves you with the one important question:
How much of what’s rattling around in your Mental Junk Drawer did you actually put there?

And if something comes up for you today - something you’re trying to make sense of, wrestling with, questioning, or ready to explore more deeply - please reach out at hello@carolecassell.com and let me know.

47 Tabs Open & A Smoking Brain (Cranial Chaos in Action)21 Sep 202600:15:23

Your brain isn’t broken - it’s just hosting a chaotic, uninvited committee meeting that refuses to shut up.

If you’ve ever spiraled from one simple decision into ten competing thoughts, second-guessed yourself into exhaustion, or talked yourself out of the exact change you wanted to make, this episode is going to feel uncomfortably familiar.

In this episode, Carole takes you inside Cranial Chaos - the mental storm that can turn a clear, perfectly good plan into noise, doubt and total paralysis.

What begins as a barrage of competing thoughts can quickly become something much bigger: questioning decisions you were clear about five minutes ago, dragging old mistakes and rejection back into the room, and slowly chipping away at your confidence, clarity and ability to trust yourself.

In this episode, we explore:

• The Committee Meeting: What it feels like when too many thoughts are competing for your attention at once.

• 47 Tabs Open: How mental noise can turn an ordinary decision into overwhelm, second-guessing and indecision.

• When the Past Joins the Meeting: How old mistakes, rejection and self-doubt can suddenly show up and start influencing what you believe about yourself right now.

Plus, Carole sets up what’s coming next: The Mental Junk Drawer - that messy collection of thoughts, beliefs, rules, expectations and assorted mental crap we’ve collected along the way.
