But visibility and access are not the same thing.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing four lessons I’ve taken with me from my corporate career that have genuinely served me and set me up for success in business.

I wanted to do this episode for two reasons:

1. If you’re new here, I want you to hear some of my story — my background, where I come from, and the kinds of environments I worked in before becoming a coach.
2. People often ask me why I chose business coaching, how I feel qualified, and what actually led me into this work. This episode answers that directly.

Before coaching, I worked in research and advisory management consulting, HR, recruitment, and with top-tier law firms — Magic Circle, Silver Circle, and the UK’s top hundred. So when I say “corporate,” I mean corporate.

Across those years, I learned things about people, performance, resilience, communication, pressure, and responsibility that I didn’t realise were shaping me… until I started my coaching business.

And in this episode, I walk you through four of the biggest lessons that still guide how I run my business, how I coach my clients, and how I think about money, growth, and ownership.

• Why I chose business and psychology at university and how that decision ended up being exactly right — even though I had no idea what I wanted to “be” at the time
• The rebel streak that’s always been in me and how it shaped the way I operated in corporate
• How HR led me into recruitment and why talking to people, understanding them, and being externally facing changed everything
• The moment I switched from a salaried role to a salary + commission role — and why that shift became one of the most important money lessons I’ve ever received

In this episode, I’m diving into the one core identity shift that changes everything for life coaches who want to sign more clients.

I see so many coaches put in the work; certifications, content creation, posting online, and yet they still feel stuck. The missing piece isn’t strategy; it’s identity. You’re still operating as a coach, not a coaching business owner.

This shift is about ownership. It’s about taking full responsibility for your business, your visibility, your message, your sales: all of it. When I made this shift myself, everything changed. I stopped waiting for clients to come “out of nowhere,” and I started intentionally creating them. Because when you think and act like a business owner, client creation becomes predictable, not accidental.

I talk about what that looked like for me, and for my clients; how moving from employee energy into CEO energy turns frustration into clarity, and self-doubt into confidence. When you take your business seriously, it starts taking you seriously back.

I also share the story of one of my clients who dreamed of leaving her 9to5. By the end of our work together, she not only had an exit plan, she had a business that could sustain her. The difference wasn’t her content, her niche, or her strategy. It was this identity shift.
