Libby Stearne is a RFDS nurse, Midwife, mother and wife. She shares her story about wanting to be an RFDS nurse since she was a young girl and watched as her father was taken by the RFDS after suffering a heart attack in Ravensthorpe in the remote South West of Australia.

With support from her husband and family looking after the two children, Libby worked as a Fly in fly out ( FIFO) nurse in Meekatharra before joining the team of RFDS in Jandakot.

Susie Oh and Suzanne are theatre nurses that I have worked with over the last 13 years. We have shared some highs and many laughs and also been there for each other for support during the lows.

The camaraderie that we share is still there even if we haven’t been in contact for months. I find these nurses humour and positive spirit lifts all who work with them and create such a lovely atmosphere is a small environment that the Operating Theatre is.
