With a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Harvard and a background in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT, Dr. Boyatzis has authored influential books, including Primal Leadership with Daniel Goleman and Helping People Change. He is ranked in the top 2% of all scientists worldwide by the Public Library of Science and has accumulated over 58 years of research on the Intentional Change Theory. He is the author of a new book, The Science of Change: Discovering Sustained, Desired Change from Individuals to Organizations and Communities.

 

In today’s episode, host Shay Beider speaks with Dr. Richard Boyatzis to unpack the science behind lasting change, focusing on how we can transform our lives by engaging with the Positive Emotional Attractor (PEA) and steering clear of the Negative Emotional Attractor (NEA). He explains that life stressors often activate the NEA, which can close us off and inhibit change. Dr. Boyatzis shares the importance of “resonant relationships” in supporting meaningful change and opening people up to their ideal selves. She is the assistant clinical professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital and specializes in behavioral health in pediatrics. She co-founded The Mount Sinai Parenting Center and hosts the popular podcast "Raising Good Humans”, where she speaks in depth on the journey of parenting and navigating family dynamics. Dr. Pressman received her PhD in developmental psychology from Columbia University and enjoys applying the lessons she has learned personally and professionally to the individuals with whom she has had the privilege to work.

Dr. Michael Amster is a pain management specialist with over 20 years of experience in the field. He is also the founding director of the pain management department for Santa Cruz Community Health. Vitamin E: It’s Effects on Longevity and Vitality23 Mar 202300:45:00

Dr. Barrie Tan is internationally renowned for his research on Vitamin E and his introduction of tocotrienol (pure Vitamin E) to the nutritional industry. He is known for his discovery and extraction of tocopherol-free tocotrienols from the annatto plant. Dr. Tan earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry/Biochemistry from the University of Otago and was a professor at UMass for several years. He is currently the President of American River Nutrition, a research and development company focused on applying the benefits of the annatto plant. Today, Dr. Tan focuses much of his research on tocotrienols and how they can improve chronic conditions such as diabetes, hyperlipidemia and certain types of cancer.

 

In today’s episode, host Shay Beider welcomes Dr. Barrie Tan to discuss his work with tocotrienol, the purest form of Vitamin E. He shares his unexpected discovery of tocotrienol in the Annatto plant, and how he has managed to safely extract pure Vitamin E without other fillers. Dr. Tan discusses the difference between tocotrienol and tocopherol and how tocopherol can inhibit the benefits provided by tocotrienol. He also shares some of his research in the use of tocotrienol to decrease inflammation and treat chronic diseases like hyperlipidemia and non alcoholic fatty liver disease. Shay and Dr. Tan discuss promising clinical trials using Vitamin E for various cancer treatments, including breast and pancreatic cancer.
