#32- BURNOUT AS A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER: How Burnout Can Kill Your Business
When I opened my vintage shop back in 2018 I knew that it was going to be a long and tiring road to get my shop to where I wanted it to go. Flash forward to 2024 my shop has changed, but the way I interact with it hasn't.
In today's episode, I'll talk about my struggle with burnout after working 6-7 days a week for 5 years, in my vintage shop. The feeling of shame when you have to admit to yourself that you CAN'T do it all and need to step back.
This is a mental health issue that faces so many people across all walks of life and industries! Listen in to find out what I've done to help preserve my sanity and my business!

#31-VINTAGE VERSUS THRIFT: What's the Difference & Why Does It Matter?
I'm BACK and ready to talk about all the changes I've made since my last episode!
In today's episode, I'll be delving into one of the biggest confusions surrounding my vintage shop: "Are you a thrift store or a vintage store?" What does it mean to be a "vintage store" or a "thrift store"? What's the difference between vintage and thrift, but more importantly, why does it matter? Let's dig in!

#22- OH THE DRAMA! Why Is There A Social Media Backlash On Resellers?
This week's episode is all about THRIFTING and RESELLING!
Is it ethical? Do resellers of popular platforms like Depop take garments away from low-income families? What's the alternative?
I recently read an article in Buzzfeed News about the backlash a Depop seller is facing on TikTok after posting a thrifting haul for her Depop shop. There have been some very divided and heated opinions! Want to read the article before you listen to this episode? Find it HERE!
I also went down the Twitter rabbit hole and explored a thread on the ethics of retooling and customizing vintage clothing. Should vintage garments be altered? Check out the original thread HERE!

In this episode, I'll be sharing my experiences with the lack of size inclusivity in vintage fashion and why it's so hard to find pieces that fit more body types. As a vintage seller and collector I've seen both sides, so I have a unique perspective that I want to share with those who've had the same struggle! This is one of the most common questions I get from customers, so I thought I'd share some of those questions and give you my answers!

#29- INSPIRED OR RIPPED OFF? How to Work with Vintage Dealers to Create Inspired Fashion
Just imagine you're a vendor at a market selling vintage clothing. To get to this market you had to hunt for the inventory, buy supplies and possibly even travel to be a vendor. Now imagine a celebrity in the music and fashion world comes to this market to find "inspiration" for their next collection. This would be a very exciting thing for any seller to have a celebrity with fashion influence shop your booth! What if that celebrity went into your booth, studied, photographed, analyzed a garment you're selling for a half hour to 45 minutes? What if in that time someone would've bought it, but didn't because this celebrity has a hold on it? What if that celebrity then put the items back and left without purchasing anything from your booth, but obtained valuable resources from you for free? In today's episode, we'll chat about how for some vendors, in London, this became a reality.

#23- BODY IMAGE & RETAIL: How to Push Back On Arbitrary Body Standards
Let me just preface this episode with a HUGE apology!
I had my shop music up louder than I thought, so you will here a lot of background static and noise. The Last Shadow Puppets had me feeling the feels the day I recorded this episode :)
In today's episode, I'm going back to a topic that I will never tire of speaking about and that's fashion and body image.
How has decades of social media and print media eroded many people's sense of body image? Why are the sizes and numbers used to make us feel excluded from the fashion conversation completely arbitrary? Let's do a little history dive into why we have "Standard Sizing" and why it's complete bull. Want to read the article I'll be referencing ahead of time?
