116 - Unlock The Secret to Consistent Content (Even Off Camera) Now!04 Nov 202500:08:02

Send us Fan Mail

Staying consistent with video content, especially if you're not comfortable on camera, can be challenging. This is why many content creators rely on B-roll footage to transform everyday life into shareable stories that viewers relate to.

In this solo episode, I share tips and techniques for gathering and creating posts using B-roll (aka raw footage), like using overlays and music, and easy-to-use video templates.

Top Takeaways

🔹Document, don’t perform—capture real moments to reduce pressure and ship more.

🔹Think in 3 simple ideas: what you’re doing, where to place the phone, what to show or tell.

🔹Turn clips into posts with one format: text-on-screen, voiceover with b-roll, or screen demo.

🔹Hook fast (first 1–3 seconds); keep caption lines short.

🔹Length guardrails: 7–20 seconds for quick tips; up to 60–90 seconds if you’re teaching.

🔹Voice over and music. Use no-lyrics tracks and keep music low so speech is clear.

🔹Real-life example works: “Mission Grill Possible” turned a rainy grill into a high-engagement post.

107 - Camera Angles That Help You Connect (Not Turn Your Audience Off)20 Aug 202500:07:37

Send us Fan Mail

Social media is a very personal space. You're on camera talking to one person, watching your video at a time. That's why camera presence is so important.

And that doesn't only mean you being comfortable on camera, it's using camera angles that make your audience feel comfortable too.

In this solo episode, I share a strategy to help you become more confident on camera and how to frame the camera to build connection with your audience.

Takeaways

🔹Building confidence on camera is essential for effective communication.
🔹The 14-day video challenge helps reduce camera anxiety.
🔹Practicing without the pressure of public scrutiny is key.
🔹Framing and camera angles influence viewer perception.
🔹Natural light is preferable to artificial lighting for video.
🔹Sound quality is more important than video clarity.
🔹Understanding viewer comfort zones enhances connection.
🔹Being about an arm's length away from the camera is ideal.
🔹Authenticity builds trust more than striving for perfection.
🔹Consistency in showing up on camera fosters a genuine connection.

016 - Don't Let These Myths Keep You From Sharing Content On LinkedIn04 Jan 202400:10:32

Send us Fan Mail

Kicking off 2024 by busting content marketing myths that may be preventing you from even starting to create and share original content.

In this solo episode, I shed some light on three persistent myths that stop people, maybe you, from sharing their knowledge and insights with others on social media.  Most especially LinkedIn.

🔹MYTH  #1  - People will judge you and find your content lacking.

Most people are too busy thinking about their own content. They don’t have time to worry about what someone else is doing. And most people on LinkedIn are kind, generous people who are rooting for you.

As far as finding your content lacking, remember you don’t need to be an expert in marketing or video or whatever to share your insights. You only need to know more about the subject matter than your students. And be able to  convey that knowledge in an accessible and engaging manner.

🔹MYTH #2  - Everyone with ten's of thousands of followers is wildly successful.

Most social media platforms, like LinkedIn, are more like highlight reels. Even when people share not-so-good news, like a campaign that fails or losing a big client, it’s unlikely they are sharing the entire story.

And even IF the people who seem successful are wildly successful. They didn’t start out that way. Every one of them started from zero. Zero connections. Zero posts. Zero followers.  So the only person you should compare yourself with is you.

🔹MYTH #3 - You must be vulnerable on social media to be successful.

It’s true that being you helps build trust with your audience. Content that feels genuine and honest can help people get to know you. But you should be comfortable with whatever you post. If you feel something is too private to share online, don't share it.

BONUS: Easy way to lower stress and boost your confidence in 2 minutes flat. Stand like Superman. Listen to podcast for details.

106 - Presentation Secrets From a Professional Speaker Coach07 Aug 202500:23:06

Send us Fan Mail

Think great speakers are born? You would be wrong. Speaking secrets busts the myth about natural talent and offers practical strategies and advice you can use whether you're giving a keynote, speaking on a panel, or recording a video from your home office.

In this episode, I’m sharing clips from an interview with Monisha Toteja, CEO of Dynamic Speaking, pulled from my content vault. During our conversation, Monisha shared breathing techniques, tips for structuring your message, and ways to handle those speaking jitters.

Takeaways

🔹Good communication isn’t about what you say, it’s about what people hear.

🔹Public speaking is a learned skill, not an inborn talent.

🔹Diaphragmatic breathing boosts projection, clarity, and confidence.

🔹Structure and pauses help your audience follow your message.

🔹Overthinking leads to rambling—focus on one main point at a time.

🔹A little planning (even 30 seconds) can improve your delivery.

🔹Focus on what went well to build confidence, not just what you missed.

🔹Speaking on panels requires concise, to-the-point answers.

🔹Nervousness is normal—your audience is rooting for you.

007 - What Does Being Authentic On Social Media Mean? Listen To This For Some Ideas On That28 Nov 202300:09:39

Send us Fan Mail

A lot of trainers and coaches talk about the importance of being authentic, even vulnerable, on social media. The truth is that sharing who you are, and letting people get to know you helps build trust.

But how much information do you really need to share?  In this solo episode, I talk about 3 social media buckets: professional, personal, and private, and how to choose the type of content that works for you.

🔹Professional is generally information and advice, content that will help your clients move forward and reach their goals.

🔹Personal is giving people the opportunity to get to know you by sharing a peek into your life.  For me, that's our dogs and social occasions.

🔹Private is whatever feels private to you. For some sharing details of their divorce feels comfortable. Others, like me,  prefer to segment their lives.

When you're planning your social media content consider what type of content feels right for you.

Don't let coaches and trainers push you to share content, in the name of being vulnerable, that doesn't feel comfortable to you.

Send us Fan Mail

Creating social media content, particularly video, without getting burned out is a challenge we all face. One of the easiest ways to avoid that is by intentionally recording and using B-roll footage.

Life happens to all of us. In this solo episode, I share how to keep showing up on video when you're overwhelmed, overworked, or life gets in the way. The secret is intentionally recording and using B-roll footage.

🔹Using templates can create cool videos without hours of editing

🔹You don't always need to be on camera to create engaging content.

Hey, I published 100 episodes!!! In this episode, I’m sharing a recent setback that led to a mindset shift and a new way of seeing content creation.

It’s not about doing more. It’s about seeing differently. Even when you’re sick, sidelined, or just out of steam.

This episode walks through the five-part framework that helped me keep showing up with purpose (and sanity), even when creating content the “usual way” wasn’t an option.

Inside This Episode:
🔹 What a health setback taught me about storytelling
🔹 How B-roll and “see the story” saved my content
🔹 The mindset shift every creator needs
🔹 A framework for flexible, purpose-driven content
🔹 Why perfection is overrated—and presence is everything

098 - 10 Game-Changing ChatGPT Prompts To Get You Better Results23 Apr 202500:07:38

Send us Fan Mail

If you’ve ever asked ChatGPT for help and ended up with a long-winded mess full of buzzwords, fluff, or flat-out nonsense, you’re not alone. In this episode, I’m breaking down exactly how to get smarter, faster, and more useful output from ChatGPT using clear, direct prompts that actually work.

In this solo episode, I share 10 practical ways to prompt ChatGPT, and other prompt-driven AI platforms,  so it feels more like a strategic assistant and less like a cringey salesperson. Whether you’re writing a LinkedIn post, drafting video scripts, or summarizing your own podcast transcript, these prompt strategies will save you time and help you get better results.

5 Top Takeaways

🔹Say no BS, no fluff in your prompt—set the tone up front or prepare for a cleanup.

🔹Use ChatGPT to summarize, organize, and label messy transcripts or notes.

🔹Feed it examples that worked well for you to shape tone and structure.

🔹Stack prompts for better results—layer your request, don’t go one-liner.

115 - How to Create Content (Including Video) Consistently Without Getting Burnedout01 Nov 202500:28:25

Send us Fan Mail

Consistently creating engaging content is a struggle. That’s exactly why one of our Mini Marketing Marathon panels tackled it head-on—how to create strategically, stay visible, and avoid burnout with simple systems you can actually maintain.

I was delighted when Sara Clay, LinkedIn Coach, Kendra Corman, AI Marketing Expert, and Renee Lindo, Personal Stylist,  agreed to join me for the Content Without Chaos panel. They shared the strategies, tools, and workflows behind showing up every week—how to pick clear angles, capture small moments, repurpose smart, and measure lightly so momentum doesn’t stall.

🔹Pick a content bucket (problem you solve) and post one idea—don’t overpack it.

🔹Document, don’t perform: capture real moments and add one useful takeaway.

🔹Use AI with your own transcripts/examples so drafts keep your voice.

🔹Repurpose across channels; no one sees everything the first time.

🔹Set personal sharing lines and be consistent with them.

🔹Treat LinkedIn like a room: say hi, add value, keep it human.

🔹Track a few basics (views, saves, replies) in your own sheet weekly.

🔹Choose one primary platform you enjoy; protect handles elsewhere.

🔹One post = one point. Break big ideas into multiple posts.

🔹Tools that help: transcript/clip tools, simple editors, and reusable templates.

096 - 5 Essentials I Wish I Knew When I Started My First Podcast In 202004 Apr 202500:12:50

Send us Fan Mail

If you're a new or aspiring podcaster, this episode will give you a real-world look at what it’s like to build and grow a show. I share what I’ve learned the hard way after five years and two podcasts.

In this solo episode, I share the techniques I wish I knew when I started podcasting 5 years ago. From choosing a format to staying consistent, these lessons come from experience — not theory.

Some of the things I highlighted

🔹Start with a clear format and platform. Audio-only or video? Free or paid hosting? I recommend paid platforms like Buzzsprout for wider reach and support.

🔹Solo episodes position you as the expert. Interviews are great for shining the light on guests, but solo content builds trust with your audience.

🔹Use episode numbers. Makes it easier to reference past episodes on-air, in writing, or while guesting on other shows.

🔹Leverage transcripts and video clips. They boost discoverability, accessibility, and give you great promotional content in less time.

🔹Be consistent. Listeners build routines around your show — if you disappear for weeks, they may not come back.

🔷If you're ready to stop thinking about video and start doing it, the next session of my Smarter, Faster, Fun Video Bootcamp starts on June 1st. Small group of 10. Real coaching. Real progress.  Join the Bootcamp here.

095 - How To Build (And Monetize) Your YouTube Channel 01 Apr 202500:30:09

Send us Fan Mail

If you're looking to grow a YouTube channel, this episode breaks it down simply. We talked about the common mistakes people make—like disorganization and waiting to hit 1,000 subs—when in reality, you can start making money much earlier. It’s all about being intentional with your content.

I was delighted to have Vickie O'Neil, YouTube Expert,  join me to discuss building and monetizing a YouTube channel, especially for women over 40. She shared real strategies, examples, and encouragement for anyone ready to dive in. No fluff—just smart, actionable advice.

Topics Included

🔹Organize your content – Playlists are more than aesthetic; they guide your viewers like file folders, making your channel easier to navigate and helping position you as an expert.

🔹Start messy, but start – You don’t need fancy equipment or editing skills to begin. Raw, one-take videos with strong value can still build trust and generate income.

🔹You don’t need 1,000 subs to monetize – Use lead magnets, low-ticket offers, or even simple consultation links in your video descriptions to turn views into revenue from day one.

🔹YouTube is built for longevity – Unlike TikTok or Instagram, content on YouTube can continue to get discovered and drive traffic for months or even years.

🔹Women over 40 bring a unique advantage – Life experience, career pivots, and real stories resonate deeply. Don’t discount your voice—use it as your superpower.

LinkedIn is more than a place to park your profile—it’s a powerful platform for B2B professionals, consultants, and entrepreneurs to build visibility, credibility, and real business relationships. In this episode, we dive into how to use it with intention and personality to actually drive growth.

I was delighted to be joined by Beth Granger, LinkedIn trainer, consultant, and speaker, Beth Granger Consulting, to discuss smart, practical ways to stand out, build trust, and start better conversations on the platform

Topics included:

🔹Treating LinkedIn like a 24/7 networking event—show up and be real.

🔹Why meaningful comments often go further than constant posting.

🔹Always personalize your connection requests—ditch the generic.

🔹Avoid automation tools that spam—LinkedIn will notice (and so will people).

🔹Remember to use the first person in your profile to create a connection, not distance

093 - 10.5 Mistakes That Are Tanking Your Video Engagement (And How To Fix Them)20 Mar 202500:13:19

Send us Fan Mail

Many consultants, entrepreneurs, and business owners dive into video content but struggle to get the engagement and views they expect. This episode breaks down 10.5 common video mistakes and how to fix them.

In this solo episode, I share practical tips to make your videos more effective.

Some of the things I highlighted:

🔹 Start with a hook – Grab attention immediately instead of introducing yourself first.

🔹 Edit out dead space – Remove long pauses and filler words to keep the pacing tight.

🔹 Make your videos visually engaging – Use movement, camera angle changes, or simple transitions.

🔹 Always add captions – Most people watch on mute, and captions improve accessibility.

🔹 Have a plan – Outline your goal and key points before recording to avoid rambling.

092 - Struggling With Burnout? Be "Intelligently Lazy" By Strategically Saying No 18 Mar 202500:29:52

Send us Fan Mail

Saying no isn’t just about avoiding burnout—it’s a strategy for success. In this episode, I was delighted to have Deirdre Tshien, CEO and co-founder of CapSho, join me to share how saying no is actually a solid business strategy for consultants, entrepreneurs, and business owners.

She broke down how trying to be everywhere at once leads to exhaustion, and why focusing on just a couple of key platforms can deliver better results without overwhelming you.

Topics included

🔹 Burnout is real – Trying to be on every platform can drain your energy and resources fast.

🔹 Choose your platforms wisely – Pick the ones where your audience is active and where you actually enjoy engaging.

🔹 Saying no creates focus – When you stop spreading yourself too thin, you can double down on what truly works.

🔹 Use AI and automation smartly – AI tools like CapSho and Riverside can help streamline content repurposing and free up your time.

🔹 Be “intelligently lazy” – Work smarter, not harder, to create sustainable success without sacrificing your well-being.

091 - Dress To Be Seen As The Expert You Are (Tips From A Top Image Consultant)11 Mar 202500:29:56

Send us Fan Mail

Do you struggle with what to wear for meetings, events, and being on video? Knowing what to wear doesn't have to be so complicated.

And the good news? You don’t need a wardrobe overhaul—just a smarter approach to dressing like the expert you are.

I was excited to have Scarlett De Bease, President of Scarlett Image, join me for this conversation. Scarlett shared practical tips on how consultants and entrepreneurs can dress with confidence, shop your own closet, and make sure your wardrobe works for you—not against you.

Key Topics Included

🔹 Wear clothes that make you feel confident, not just professional. Your clothing should enhance your confidence—when you feel good in what you wear, you show up more powerfully in meetings, presentations, and networking.

🔹 Avoid last-minute outfit choices. Don’t run out and buy something new just before an important event. Clothes should be familiar, comfortable, and well-fitting so you're not fidgeting or distracted.

🔹 Mix and match for a versatile wardrobe. Instead of relying on outdated suits or defaulting to all black, choose pieces that work well together and allow for multiple outfit combinations.

🔹 Shop your own closet before buying more. There are likely great pieces hiding in your wardrobe that you’ve forgotten about. Rotate them forward and remove anything that no longer fits or feels good.

🔹 Stop waiting to lose weight before dressing well. Confidence isn’t about size—it’s about wearing what fits and flatters you now. Well-fitting clothes will help you feel good and show up fully in your professional life.

090 - Stop Spending Hours Creating Social Media Videos (Easy 5-Step Process)06 Mar 202500:08:51

Send us Fan Mail

Too many people avoid creating videos because it takes them hours to make a two-minute clip. They overthink, redo takes endlessly, and spend way too much time editing—only to feel frustrated and burnt out. But it doesn’t have to be that way!

In this solo episode, I share a simple five-step process to help you record, edit, and post videos faster—without the stress. If you've ever spent two hours recording a two-minute video, this episode is for you! These steps will save you time and make video creation feel effortless.

Some of the things I highlighted

🔹 Plan before you record – Take three minutes to define your purpose and jot down key points or a short script to stay focused.

🔹 Record in short clips – Instead of aiming for a perfect one-take, record in small sections to make editing easier.

🔹 Edit quickly – Keep it simple by trimming mistakes and dead spaces. Use captions to improve accessibility and engagement.

🔹 Add captions and music – Since most people scroll with the sound off, captions are essential. Stick to platform-approved music to avoid licensing issues.

🔹 Post without overthinking – Avoid getting stuck in endless tweaking. Nobody expects perfection—what matters is your message!

Send us Fan Mail

If you've ever sat down to record a video or write a post and completely blanked out, had no idea what to say, you're not alone. I hear this all the time. I struggle with it myself from time to time.

So In this solo episode, I share 10 simple strategies to help busy  coaches, consultants, and entrepreneurs create content with ease—whether you're struggling with what to post, overthinking your ideas, or running out of inspiration.

These practical content creation tips will help you generate fresh content consistently without stress or second-guessing yourself.

Some of the things I highlighted

🔹 Answer FAQs – Use questions from your clients, DMs, or post comments as inspiration for content. If one person is asking, many others are wondering the same thing.

🔹 Repurpose Your Content – Don’t reinvent the wheel! Turn blog posts into carousel posts, text posts into video scripts, or long videos into short social clips. (For more repurposing tips listen to episode #88 of this podcast)

🔹 Share Behind-the-Scenes Content – Give your audience a peek into your work or daily life. This builds connection and shows the human side of your brand.

🔹 Engage with Your Audience – Post polls, ask questions, and check your comments for content ideas. Your audience will tell you what they want to see!

088 - 7 Content Repurposing Strategies For Busy Consultants, Entrepreneurs, and Business Owners27 Feb 202500:09:20

Send us Fan Mail

Creating content takes time and if you're only using it once, you're working harder than you need to.

In this solo episode, I share 7 easy ways to repurpose your content so you can maximize your reach without constantly creating from scratch.

From turning videos into podcasts to transforming text posts into visuals, these strategies are designed to help busy consultants and entrepreneurs work smarter, not harder, with their content marketing

Some of the things I highlighted:

🔹 Repurpose Video into a Podcast – Extract audio from live streams or short-form videos to create podcast episodes, making your content accessible to a new audience.

🔹Turn Long Videos into Social Clips – Cut highlights into short clips for LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Tools like Descript and Riverside make this process seamless.

🔹 Use Transcripts for More Content – Your video or podcast transcript is a goldmine—turn key takeaways into text posts, LinkedIn carousels, or even quote graphics.

🔹 Transform Text Posts into Video Scripts – Use a well-performing text post as a natural script for short-form videos, keeping the language conversational and engaging.

🔹 Expand Comments into Posts – If you’ve written a thoughtful comment on someone else’s content, refine it into a full post, carousel, or even a podcast topic.

Send us Fan Mail

Wondering if being a podcast guest will boost your visibility and brand? The answer is YES!!! But only if the show is a good fit for you.

Being invited to be a guest on a podcast can be flattering, but it's essential to evaluate the show before jumping on board. In this solo episode, I share how to see if the show is a good fit, and a few reasons why it might be better to launch your own show.

Top Takeaways

🔹Make sure that the audience is a good fit for you.

🔹How to vet a show before you say yes.

🔹Only 43% of podcasts even reach eight episodes.

🔹Don't assume you'll get questions in advance or not.

🔹Don't assume podcasts are audio only, most are recorded on video.

🔹Why you should consider hosting your own show.

🔹Value of having a mix of solo and interview episodes.

087 - Essential LinkedIn Strategies For Content Creators (You Don't Want To Miss This)19 Feb 202500:33:16

Send us Fan Mail

If you’re a content creator looking to build visibility and attract opportunities on LinkedIn, this episode is for you!

I was delighted to be joined by my friend and colleague Brenda Meller, a LinkedIn Coach and Course Creator who helps professionals and business owners get a bigger slice of the LinkedIn pie.

We dive into the key differences between LinkedIn and other social platforms, how to develop a content strategy that actually works, and simple ways to start showing up—even if you’re hesitant to post.

Key Topics Included

🔹LinkedIn is not Facebook—But It’s Still Social - While LinkedIn is a professional platform, it’s also about building relationships, not just pushing content. Understanding your audience’s mindset on LinkedIn is key to creating the right type of content.

🔹 Content Without Strategy is a Common Pitfall - Posting without a plan won’t get you results. Brenda compares strategy to a road trip—you need a clear destination and a route to get there. Know your goals and audience before posting.

🔹 You Don’t Have to Post Every Day—Start Small - If you’re new to creating content, engage first by commenting and reacting to posts. Then, start posting once a week—even a simple repost with your thoughts can help you get comfortable.

🔹 You Only Need to Know a Little More Than Your Audience - Imposter syndrome holds many people back, but you don’t need to be the ultimate expert. Speak to your target audience, not your peers, and share knowledge that will genuinely help them.

🔹 80/20 Rule: Sell Less, Give More Value -  Only 20% of your posts should promote your services—the other 80% should educate, inspire, or entertain. This builds trust and keeps your audience engaged, rather than feeling like they’re being sold to constantly.

086 - Essential (Mostly Inexpensive) Tools For Social Media Videos: Lavs, Tripods, and Lighting13 Feb 202500:08:47

Send us Fan Mail

Struggling to find the right recording gear for short-form video? In this solo episode, I break down my favorite tools—tripods, mics, lighting, and more—to help you create high-quality videos without breaking the bank

Some of the things I highlighted:

🔹 Stability matters – A good tripod or phone mount keeps your video looking professional and smooth, one of my favs is the SMALLRIG

🔹 Audio is key – Wireless lav mics like the Hollyland Lark make a huge difference in sound quality

🔹 Lighting can make or break your video – Natural light is best, but clip-on LED lights are a great backup.

🔹 Desktop mics elevate voice quality – A budget-friendly Blue Snowball is a solid choice, while the Blue Yeti offers pro-level sound.

🔹 Start small, upgrade later – My strategy is to start with affordable gear and invest in one premium tool at a time, usually on sale.

085 - Podcasting and Livestreaming Tips and Techniques in 2025: Stand Out, Repurpose, and Grow Your Audienc (Part2)11 Feb 202500:25:09

Send us Fan Mail

Podcasting and livestreaming are more than just hitting record—they’re about strategy, engagement, and adaptation.

Explore how these platforms are evolving in 2025, and how creators can leverage video, repurpose content, and improve audio quality to maximize reach and build long-term audience engagement.

In this episode, I share clips from January's Mavens Talk, a monthly audio event I co-host with my friend and colleague Gillian Whitney, Live Stream Strategist / Book Author where we discussed podcasting and livestreaming.

➡️ Our mutual friend, Michelle B. Griffin, joined us for this part of this episode.

Topics included:

🔹 AI’s Growing Role in Podcasting & Content Creation - AI tools like Descript, ChatGPT, and automated audiograms are making podcast production easier. Podfest featured an entire track on AI, including creating AI-powered assistants for podcasting.

🔹 Repurposing Content to Save Time - Recording solo podcast episodes on video allows for easier repurposing into clips, transcripts, and social content. Tools like Riverside and Buzzsprout’s transcript feature help streamline this process.

🔹 The Value (or Lack) of Show Notes & Transcripts - Some podcasters, like Amy Porterfield, emphasize show notes for driving traffic. Others question how many listeners actually read them and whether they provide an SEO benefit.

🔹Podcast & Livestream Cross-Promotion -  Many podcasters repurpose livestreams into podcast episodes, making content creation more efficient. Numbering episodes and embedding podcasts in LinkedIn articles can improve discoverability.

🔹 The Fun & Flexibility of Co-Hosting or Panel-Style Podcasts - Having a co-host or panel discussion (like Media Mavens) makes podcasts more dynamic and engaging. These formats allow for spontaneity, deeper conversations, and audience participation.

It was a treat to have my 4X author and author coach, Gillian Whitney join me to share some tips and techniques for first-time and newbie book authors.

Topics included:

🔹Getting started by publishing a short "starter" book or two before tackling a larger book project (Hint: it will probably help you get your book to market)

🔹The pros and cons of purchasing your own ISBN (International Standard Book Number) number rather than using a free one from a publisher (like Amazon)

🔹How newbie authors can benefit from working with a book coach, strategist, self-publishing company, etc. (Hint: you don't know what you don't know)

And more
