Retro and current gen gaming chat, with Trev and Stu, its the Console Shockcast! What’s the best way to experience the Amiga in 2026? Do you need original hardware, an FPGA system, or is emulation the way to go? We also dive into the future of handheld gaming, Steam Deck 2, ARM-powered devices and a whole load of retro PC gaming.

Stu has been revisiting Serious Sam and Warcraft 3 on an old Windows XP PC, while Trev discovers that Just Cause still runs brilliantly on the Steam Deck

Alien Breed gets some love as we look back at the classic Amiga games and the more modern 3D/twin-stick versions

Can mouse-heavy games like Command & Conquer actually work on a Steam Deck? We put the trackpad to the test

Steam Deck 2 – could Valve eventually move to ARM for better performance and battery life?

We discuss the problem with modern gaming handhelds being increasingly huge, and whether a smaller DS/Vita-style machine could be the perfect solution

So, you want an actual Amiga? We look at the Amiga 500, 600 and 1200, and debate which classic machine is the best starting point

FPGA, emulation or original hardware? We look at the different ways to recreate the classic Amiga experience while adding some much-needed modern quality-of-life features

From WHDLoad and Compact Flash cards to RGB SCART and OSSC, we discuss how to make a real Amiga work with modern displays without completely losing the original experience Check out Trev and Al’s other podcast where they reminisce about different episodes of the Star Trek franchise! :

Console Shock Podcast 168: Movie Licensed Games22 Aug 202601:03:08

Retro and current gen gaming chat, with Trev and Stu, its the Console Shockcast! How did we go from games like ET and Wayne’s World to GoldenEye and Robocop: Rogue City? Trev and Stu take a nostalgic look at the strange world of movie-licensed games, from the countless cash-ins of the 8-bit and 16-bit eras to the genuinely great titles that proved a movie tie-in could be much more than a quick cash grab.

Movie tie-ins galore! We look back at the era when virtually every major film seemed to get a game, from Robocop and Rambo to Independence Day and The Phantom Menace.

Alien games — from Alien Trilogy to Alien Resurrection, we discuss why the Alien franchise has had a surprisingly strong track record when it comes to video games. Robocop vs Terminator — we revisit some of the best and worst games based on these iconic 80s action franchises, including Robocop 3 and Terminator Resistance. Star Wars and beyond — why some of the best Star Wars games weren’t actually based directly on the films, plus a look at how other franchises expanded beyond their movie stories.

The PS1/N64 movie-game explosion — Die Hard Trilogy, GoldenEye, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible and Independence Day all get a mention as we remember one of the golden eras for licensed games.

The bad stuff! Wayne’s World, Back to the Future, Batman Forever, Charlie’s Angels and plenty of other questionable tie-ins remind us that not every movie needed a video game.

Games that never happened — we pitch movies that should have received their own games, including a rather brilliant idea for a Star Trek: First Contact FPS starring Captain Picard against the Borg.

From movies to games… and back again! We finish by flipping things around and discussing which video games could make great movies, including Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid and Heavy Rain. Check out Trev and Al’s other podcast where they reminisce about different episodes of the Star Trek franchise! :

Retro and current gen gaming chat, with Trev and Stu, its the Console Shockcast! Not quite March—but close enough… so it’s Marchintosh time! Or maybe Appril? Either way, Trev and Stu return to the annual YouTube tradition of diving into Apple tech. This year, we’re spotlighting the machine that redefined portable computing for decades to come: the iconic Titanium PowerBook G4—the blueprint for modern laptops. Console Shock Podcast 160: Steam Machine vs Xbox ‘Project Helix’18 Mar 202601:02:18

Retro and current gen gaming chat, with Trev and Stu, its the Console Shockcast! At GDC 2026, Microsoft gave us our first taste of Project Helix, the next-generation Xbox. It looks set to be an extremely powerful, PC-like console — but what does that actually mean in the living room? Will we be staring at a Windows desktop with a controller in hand on the sofa? Trev and Stu speculate…

Stu is blown away to discover there are actually three games in the Wave Race series!

Grand Theft Auto IV is getting incredible mods, and Stu gives them a try.

Project Helix: Can Microsoft finally unite Xbox and PC gaming?

Helix can play PC games — but what does that really mean? Can you install Steam on it?

Could Microsoft lock Helix down, with Game Pass as the only route to PC titles?

Will Helix be a better Steam Machine than the Steam Machine?

Our thoughts on Sony (allegedly) stepping back from the PC market.

Is a PS6 worth buying just for exclusives when Helix could offer so much variety?
