Holy Spirit Unlocked: An Intro to Holy Spirit’s Power & Authority with Jenny Randle18 Jun 202500:39:39

Send us a text

The topic of the Holy Spirit is one that feels like most churches and people aren't discussing in fear of stepping on toes and upsetting people. The thing is... the Holy Spirit is our helper, He is THE PROMISED PRESENCE OF THE LORD.... whether that steps on toes or not we should be talking about Him!

No matter what your stance is on the Holy Spirit, I hope we can all agree that He is a promised gift, the very presence of God who comes to live inside of us after we accept the free gift of salvation which only comes from the blood of Jesus Christ spilled for our sins. The third person of the trinity, the Holy Spirit, is how we experience God. He is within us!!

Jenny Randle is an Emmy® award-winning editor who went on a journey to discover what it really means to live on purpose. From a video editor in the heart of Hollywood to becoming an ordained minister, her creative ventures have reached millions. She has cohosted a fun and top-ranked podcast, Shut the Should Up, authored Courageous Creative, Getting to Know God’s Voice, andDream Come True, and coauthored Flash Theology. Her most recent book, The Promised Presence, is a bible study through Luke and Acts focused on the Holy Spirit’s power and authority.

Key Takeaways:

  • Find out who the Holy Spirit is by studying the Bible, laying down all other misconceptions & see what He has to say about it
  • Miracles extend the message of Christ, making people ask who He is and drawing them in
  • Father, Son & Holy Spirit are co-equal & co-eternal
  • The Holy Spirit is a HE not an IT, He is the present presence of God
  • We need to be aware of the Holy Spirit and how He is present and working in our lives
  • Holy Spirit provides sustaining grace and power even in desperation
  • He is good, sovereign & healer- whether or not we’ve experienced our healing instantaneously or not, we can know that one day we will be healed

What Every Wife Needs to Know About Her Husband’s Heart This Father’s Day with Vince Miller11 Jun 202500:37:16

Send us a text

This is one of those episodes that requires a download and set to repeat. Wives, for Father's Day you can give your husband something that changes his life.. and it's not one of those cheesy t-shirts you've seen online. It's understanding how to communicate with him better, helping him understand what spiritual leadership actually is, letting him off the hook of being the perfect husband and dad and giving him the gift of affirmation & acceptance.

Doesn't that sound great? Stop the nagging, stop the guilt & shame game and begin to grow in your relationship with your husband beyond the surface level. That is what today's episode is all about. Vince Miller, who has been on the podcast previously, is helping us wives understand what it means to truly understand how our husbands think and how to communicate well with them to help them grow closer to the Lord and to connect with us as their wives. It's GOLD!! Every wife needs to hear this!!

Today’s guest is Vince Miller—Christian author, speaker, and founder of Resolute. With over 30 years in ministry, Vince has written 36 books focused on discipleship and spiritual leadership. He’s the creator of Project23, a bold initiative to teach through the entire Bible verse-by-verse. You’ve seen his work on RightNow Media, YouVersion, and Faithlife TV. Vince is passionate about calling men and women to follow Jesus with boldness, clarity, and conviction.

I can't tell you enough how much the conversation changed my understanding of my husband but also gave me the knowing that I needed to be able to help him be who God has created him to be and support him in love.

This is an episode you need to share with ALL of your friends!Seriously... if you want to see your friends relationships and marriages grow in connection... SEND THEM THIS EPISODE!!

Key Takeaways:

  • Men often process emotions slower & struggle to articulate due to lack of teaching & modeling
  • Wives can help by saying “I feel” statements and drawing out men’s emotions patiently
  • “ABT” = Ain’t Been Taught - Men often aren’t taught how to emotionally process things
  • Spiritual leadership means leading others to Christ, not trying to be the perfect leader oneself
  • Wives can affirm their husband’s worth beyond specific skills
  • Affirmation and encouragement are crucial for men to overcome feelings of inadequacy in unfamiliar areas

From Empty Validation to Unshakable Faith: Finding Your Life in Jesus with Inah Miller04 Jun 202500:23:13

Send us a text

Looking for our worth in things of this world can seem like the built in human response in life. Finding ourselves in friends, careers, relationships & finances can seem like the right thing to do, but it leaves us empty and still not knowing who we are. It can even make us question our faith in God.

Wouldn't living a life of unshakable faith be a wonderful feeling? Knowing with no doubt in your mind that you belong to God and He loves you unconditionally! That knowing can be your reality, the way you live your life. That was the case for the guest on the podcast today, Inah. She is a wonderful friend of mine who started off looking in all the wrong places to find out who she was, until God met her in amazing ways and she said yes to him. Yes to his leading, yes to the calling on her life even when she had no idea where it would lead.

Inah recently graduated from Huntington University completing her degree in cross-cultural studies and TESOL. She also just spent 7 months on the Arabian Peninsula teaching English and learning Arabic. She is young woman who has a heart to serve the Lord and is unashamed to share about what that looks like in every day life. It's not always easy and she shares the struggles she has had along the way, including questioning her faith while over seas on mission!

Her faith is inspiring. We all need to know that it's okay to ask hard questions of God, because he has all the right answers.

Key Takeaways:

  • Find your life in Jesus, don’t let the enemy overtake you when you feel weak
  • Finding validation in friends, jobs, success will always let you don’t
  • It can be hard to start sharing what God is doing in your life, but it builds your faith and others each time you share
  • All we have to do is say yes, and Jesus takes care of the rest
  • We don’t have to know what things will look like in our future, we need to keep trusting Jesus and following Him
  • Asking questions to make your faith your own is important

Overcoming Overwhelm: The Journey to an Untroubled Heart with Kara Stout28 May 202500:29:59

Send us a text

Overwhelm feels inescapable. Having a heart that isn't weighed down with the weight and responsibilities that are on our shoulders seems impossible.

That is precisely why I talked with my new friend Kara about her newly released devotional, An Untroubled Heart: Calming Anxiety and Finding God's Peace. Her heart is for us experience God in a real and intimate way that changes how we live our everyday lives. She wants us to realized the trust of Psalms 147: 3-5, seeing God as the personal yet powerful God that he is. Our Father in heaven who cares about every big or little thing that happens in our lives and longs for us to run to him for peace. And that's exactly what we talk about on today's episode.

Kara is a writer, wife, and new adoptive mom living in Los Angeles, California.  Kara writes prayers and devotionals on her social media and has also written devotionals for Her True Worth, a women’s online ministry. Kara has her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Arizona State University and her master’s degree in counseling from Loyola University Chicago. After walking through a personal medical crisis and the loss of both of her parents to cancer, her life radically changed, and her complete dependency on God for strength and peace became a non-negotiable. Her hope is to encourage women in their faith, pointing them to their Great Comforter and Greatest Companion.

Key Takeaways:

  • We can be honest with God about our emotions because He is personal yet powerful
  • There is so much freedom in being vulnerable with the Lord
  • Continually being in God’s word gives us peace and a strength that shifts our perspective
  • We must remain persistent in going to God in prayer, being in His word and being aware that we need to be with Him
  • God gives us the gift of peace that doesn’t make sense in our humanness, but is perfect in His power

Embracing Celebration When Life Feels Heavy with Nicole Zasowski21 May 202500:35:59

Send us a text

Joy & celebration can feel like it's for other people but not for you, right? I get it, I've been there before and so has the guest on the podcast today. Nicole has actually been studying this very thing from a personal and Christian family therapist point of view for years and her insight is life changing.

Nicole Zasowski is a licensed marriage and family therapist and the author of “What If It’s Wonderful?” and “From Lost to Found.” As an old soul who wears her heart proudly on her sleeve, she enjoys writing and speaking on topics that merge her professional knowledge, faith and personal experience. Nicole lives in Connecticut with her husband and their three young children.

Daring Joy takes a fresh approach to studying six familiar women in the Bible—Eve, Sarah, Miriam, Mary the mother of Jesus, Elizabeth and Mary Magdalene—understanding their stories in relationship to the human experience and God’s heart for our joy. It helps us get real life examples of what joy looks like in our lives and what it doesn't look like.

Here is a link to the conversation Nicole and I had last year on the podcast about her book What If It's Wonderful.

Key Takeaways:

  • We can be hesitant to embrace joy when we experience a lot of loss
  • Joy is the most vulnerable emotion we experience because when you hold something with joy it is automatically accompanied by the possibility of loss
  • It can feel safer to not hold joy at all than to risk pain
  • We can live a lifestyle of joy & celebration even when our circumstances don’t match up with that
  • Sometimes when we are hesitant to celebrate, it’s because we’ve made it about ourselves and not God

Faith Amidst Trials: Discovering God's Goodness with Ashton Draper14 May 202500:31:30

Send us a text

As humans we live in a fallen world, which means we will face hardship, trials, disease, illness.... you name it. When we are walking that path it can be difficult to keep our eyes focused on Jesus. Seeing God's goodness and keeping our Fatih can feel impossible when one thing after another seems to be coming at us. I've experienced it and can testify to that! But like my guest today, I can also testify to God's goodness even in the midst of those trials and difficulties.

Ashton Draper is a wife and mother to four children in Northeast Indiana. She has a bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language interpreting from Troy University. She currently homeschools her children while taking care of the home and picking up occasional interpreting assignments. She loves the show Friends and playing games with family on the weekends. She is passionate about being vulnerable with her story in order to encourage other believers in their own stories. She wrote a book called, Big Yellow House: God’s Goodness Revealed: Growing Through Hardship in Marriage and Health while on the Path to Adoption.

Key Takeaways:

  • Your story can encourage others going through hard things
  • God can make good from all the hard things happening in our lives
  • God is faithful to help us persevere through all the valleys of life
  • Don’t rely on your feelings, rely on the truth of scripture
  • Don’t be ashamed to ask for help
  • When you have tangible moments with the Lord, stop and look back, leaning on them to get you through the current trial, if you don’t have those moments, borrow from others

Christian Mom Life: What Your Kids Really Need From You with Special Guests Lilli & Coleman07 May 202500:25:49

Send us a text

THIS IS OUR 500th EPISODE OF THE PODCAST!!!!

How exciting to watch God move in this amazing way! Thank you for being a part of this journey!

As a special treat, I invited my own kiddos on to the podcast to get a little inside scoop for all of us momma's out here just trying to do our best. I wanted to hear from them what they really need from me, their mom, so that you, a mom, can get a glimpse into what your own kids need!

As anticipated... their responses were funny yet sincere and very much unprompted!! The way kids see things are so differently and taking a little time to have our eyes opened to their perspective can give us so much insight as to how to meet them where they are. I pray that this conversation encourages you, challenges you, and reminds you that even the smallest acts of faith and love are seen—by your children, and by God. You are doing a great job mom!! Don't give up!

Key Takeaways

  • As mom's listening well is one of the most important things we can do
  • We don't have to have all of the answers
  • Mom's that take time to be with the Lord are more likely to pass that on to their children
  • Being there for our kids no matter what shows them our love for them, and cuddles are always a good idea
  • When we mom's talk with our kids about their struggles, it's less about giving them all the answers and more about helping them understand why something happened, talking through their emotions & knowing how to do better next time
  • Our kids really do know that we have feelings, they just don't always say something about it

From Brokenness to Beauty: God’s Extravagant Grace with Kara Diehl30 Apr 202500:35:38

Send us a text

Beauty can come from the brokenness in our lives. Beauty from ashes, we hear in scripture. Today we are going to talk about God's extravagant grace for us and how we can find that in scripture.

I can’t wait for you to hear this week’s episode! I had the joy of sitting down with Kara Diehl, the heart behind Gracelets—a faith-based jewelry company with a mission that goes so much deeper than pretty accessories.

Kara’s story is powerful. For years, she struggled to believe that God truly loved her. But out of that pain, God birthed something beautiful: Gracelets. Each one is intentionally designed to help women share the truth of God’s Word—with themselves and with others.

We talk about how God took Kara’s past hurts and used them to bring healing, not only to her, but to women around the world through these sweet little gracelets that carry big messages of hope. Wearable scripture that can remind us of God's promises!

This episode is for the woman who needs reminded that her story isn’t over. That God’s love is real. And that He can use anything for His glory.

If you’ve ever doubted His love or struggled to share your faith, Kara’s story will meet you right where you are.

Key Takeaways:

  • God woos us with His love, mercy and grace and we can respond by trusting Him
  • As we read God’s word the Spirit he knit together inside of us is filled by the Holy Spirit which gives us true life
  • Scripture gives us an opportunity for healing that only God offers
  • We can begin to trust God in little increments and those grow over time
  • God’s word never returns void, pray it, believe it and trust Him

Overcoming Self-Sabotage and Embracing Your True Potential with Mary Marantz23 Apr 202500:37:22

Send us a text

Have you ever felt underestimated before? When I stop to really think about that I can say, definitely yes I have... but it's mainly MYSELF that this type of judgement is coming. The saying "I'm my own worst critic" is a true statement in my life, maybe it has been in your own too. Whether it's others who are underestimating us or ourselves, it can do a number on our self-esteem and understanding our worth.

My wonderful friend Mary Marantz is releasing a book NEXT WEEK on this very topic! She has personal experience with being underestimated just like us, only she is on the other side of some of these struggles and is offering us all of the strategies to overcome them!

Mary is the girl who grew up in a single wide trailer in rural West Virginia, before making her way all the way to the hallowed halls of Yale Law School... only to end up still not feeling like enough. Like she wrote in her first book, Dirt, "What if success is where the real trouble began? What if we get everything we ever wanted, only to find out it still doesn't change a thing about not liking this skin we have to do life in?"

She has spent the last five years figuring out how to separate her worth from her achieving. In other words, figuring out WHO she is apart from WHAT she does. She helps people like us own the muddy parts of our stories and give up achieving for our worth. She is the host of the wildly popular podcast, The Mary Marantz Show, has written multiple bestselling books and has been featured on CNN, Hallmark Home & Family and many more!

Mary is one of those friends who is quirky and fun but can really dig deep and make you think long and hard on subjects that will transform your life. This book, Underestimated, is no different!

Key Takeaways:

  • We are the ones who underestimate ourselves most often
  • Fear is a really boring liar & he attacks all of us with the same scripts
  • Because fear is so predictable we can recognize it quickly and be equipped with ways to defeat it
  • When you name the fear, it takes its power away!
  • Over apologizing and people pleasing are part of how we underestimate ourselves
  • Breaking free from this is much more simple than we think!

How God Hears Us: The Powerful Presence of Women in the Resurrection Story with Elisa Morgan16 Apr 202500:36:31

Send us a text

Happy Holy Week! I pray that you've been able to take time this week to be in God's Word studying the significance of what Jesus did for us on the cross. When you stop and truly think about it, it brings you to a place of awe. Not only did Jesus sacrifice himself for our sins but God the Father sacrificed His only son for people he knew would still be rebellious. But he loved us so much that it was worth it. WOW! The reality of that can bring you to your knees pretty fast can't it?

This week is all about Easter but looking at it in a new light. I had the blessed opportunity to talk with Elisa Morgan about the women who were at the cross and why that was so significant. Elisa was named by Christianity Today as one of the top 50 women influencing today's church and culture and is one of today's most sought-after authors, speakers and leaders. She has authored over 25 books on mothering, spiritual formation and evangelism. Elisa co-hosts the Our Daily Bread Ministries podcasts Discover the Word and God Hears Her. For twenty years, Elisa Morgan served as CEO of MOPS International and now serves as President Emerita. She has studied women in scripture more times than I can count, so I asked her to come and share with us about the topic!

Her insight on this was priceless and I'm so excited to share this conversation with you. Jesus was revolutionary for women. He rewrote the narrative for their worth in the culture and helped people realize how important women are to God. Not elevating them above men but making it known that they are just as precious to him as anyone else. Jesus came to raise up the lowly against what society taught.

Key Takeaways!

  • Easter returns us to awe
  • Jesus was revolutionary for women, they were often overlooked & undervalued and he valued them greatly
  • Jesus came to redeem everything & everyone
  • Stop looking for the living among the dead, we are tempted to go back to those places where God showed up once and look for him there again - don’t miss him right here and right now
  • Jesus’ redemption of us on the cross allows God the Father to see us through the righteousness of Jesus, we need to live like it!

Navigating Seasons of Waiting: Learning to Trust God's Timing with Rebecca George09 Apr 202500:34:42

Send us a text

What do we do when it seems like we are falling behind, whether in life, in career or in our relationship with God? It can feel like no matter what we do there is always something else to accomplish, something we aren't proficient enough in or something we long to have. How do we handle that? What do we do when we feel like nothing is enough?

That's exactly why I have my good friend Rebecca George joining me this week on the podcast! Her newest book, You're Not Too Late, covers all of that and so much more! Living from a place of contentment with the Lord can feel like some far off dream, but it can be our reality!

Rebecca is the founder of Radical Radiance® - a podcast community where listeners are equipped to blend what they love with the Jesus who makes them shine. She is an author, podcaster, speaker, and coach whose greatest joy in life is discipling others to pursue their passions in a way that builds the Kingdom. In her free time you can find her running outside, writing, or trying a new recipe with Garth Brooks playing in the background.

Key Takeaways:

  • Our culture has reinforced the desire to hurry and be on to the next thing
  • We need to live a the pace in which God desires for us so we don’t miss what he’s doing right now
  • The hurry-up world isn’t what God wants for us
  • We have to be willing to pivot away from worry and back towards God
  • Don’t miss your life now because you are so fixated on what you don’t have yet

Beyond Survival: Exploring Emotional Health and Faith with Will Acuff02 Apr 202500:37:23

Send us a text

It takes time, persistence and dedication to go deeper with God.. it calls to something beyond survival! I'm so excited to introduce you to a new friend of mine, Will Acuff.

Will is a pastor’s kid with a master’s in biblical studies, co-founded Corner to Corner, a nonprofit organization that promotes economic equality by launching underestimated entrepreneurs out of historically low-income communities in Nashville. As a father and husband navigating family health challenges, Will found renewal through trauma counseling and contemplative faith, embracing paths through pain to rediscover God's love and guidance.

In our conversation we dive into his book, No Elevator to Everest where we explore emotional health and how faith plays such a huge role in that. The majority of us are "fixers". We see a problem, we muscle through and find solutions and move on. But when we come to the point where our "I can fix this" mentality meets a reality we can't change in our own strength we begin to struggle mentally and emotionally. What do we do about that? We have to come to the end of ourselves, where only God can fix things.

Key Takeaways:

  • Your circumstances can’t define what joy is, rather it’s what the Lord has done and is doing in our lives
  • Self-awareness is coming back to who you are in Christ, being attuned with your emotions, thoughts and behaviors
  • We all have a custom journey on this earth by which the Lord is going to bring us to him, bringing us into alignment with his word, will and purpose for our lives
  • Have curiosity towards yourself & God
  • This isn’t about shaming yourself, it’s returning our hearts to be aligned with the heart of the Lord

Finding Hope Amid Hardship: Triumph Over Trauma & Addiction with John Boyle26 Mar 202500:38:35

Send us a text

Hope is something that I have been studying in scripture. Specifically the biblical meaning of hope, not the way the world tries to explain it. I dove into Psalm 25:5 which talks about hope and then God... in all of his amazing plans had me talk with John Boyle and part of his message he shares is about hope!! Of course it was because that is how God works!

Biblical hope is not wishful thinking but instead is a confident expectation that God's promises will come to pass. It's knowing that no matter what God will come through and show up in ways that only he can.

John Boyle was born into a multi-generational family of coal miners. He was raised in the small Appalachian town of Kingwood, West Virginia. He is a graduate of The Kiski School in Saltsburg, PA, West Virginia University School of Engineering in Morgantown, WV, and Harvard Business School in Cambridge, MA. John wrote the book, Appalachian Kid: How Hope Changed Everything to help people. His story showcases the importance of kindness and mentorship, overcoming adversity and addiction, finding faith and hope, and helping those in need. It is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and also a testament to the miracles God has performed in his life. For anyone who has ever struggled with addiction, trauma, abuse, or the weight of life’s hardships, this book offers a message of hope and a path to healing.

Key Takeaways:

  • No one who follows Jesus is a victim
  • Will power doesn’t lead to transformation, Jesus does
  • Can your friends tell you’ve been with Jesus?
  • You have to want to help yourself, no one can help you including the Lord, if you aren’t willing to ask for help
  • Hope is a confident expectation that God’s promises will come to pass
  • You don’t loose if you’re knocked down - only if you stay down

Silencing Anxiety & Speaking Truth: The Power of Your Testimony with Drew Ryall19 Mar 202500:35:01

Send us a text

“The most powerful story you can share, besides the Gospel, is the story of what God is doing personally in your life.” - Drew Ryall

We are shifting gears this week from apologetics to sharing our testimony. If we are going to be bold in Christ and learn how to defend our faith in an ever changing world, then we have to be equipped with the good news of Jesus Christ in our own lives! Others are going to want to know about the hope that we have because they can see the attributes of Jesus in us.

That is why I invited the lead pastor from our church to join me today. He has been sharing his testimony boldly and authentically with our church family for years but in recent months it has become even more evident. God has given him a passion to equip others to share what God is doing in their own lives.

Drew has been on staff at New Life Fellowship (NLF) since 2010 and is our main teaching pastor. His passions are teaching (fittingly) and discipleship of the church family. He loves seeing others discover their gifts and how the holy spirit will lead them to use it for His kingdom. He has the ability to be vulnerable when teaching but also in conversations with others.

Drew's newly refreshed energy on this topic on Sunday mornings helped the Holy Spirit spur me on personally to dive into this conversation with him, and man am I thankful it did!

Key Takeaways:

  • It’s hard to share what God is doing in our lives but faith helps us overcome that fear
  • Today’s anxieties can be tomorrow’s testimony
  • Our testimony is more than the moment we accepted Jesus as our personal savior, it’s daily being made new in Christ
  • Put your faith into action by stepping into areas where if God doesn’t show up, you can’t do it
  • You cannot be anxious and thankful at the same time
  • All God requires is a mustard seed of faith

Faith Under Pressure: How to Confidently Defend What You Believe with Liz Cobo05 Mar 202500:37:59

Send us a text

Have you ever found yourself in a conversation about faith that you feel unequipped to be a part of? You know that you trust God but you aren't sure how to explain let alone defend your faith to someone who seems to be in opposition to you. Sound familiar? I know it does to me! There was a time in my life when I knew what I believed but I had no confidence in defending it.

That is exactly why I invited my friend Liz Cobo to join me on the podcast this week! She is a Christian Apologist who is passionate about helping believers learn to gracefully defend their faith and biblical worldview with gentleness and respect. Liz hosts the unBibled podcast and is currently a student in the Master’s degree program for Christian Apologetics at the Talbot School of Theology, Biola University. She is a wealth of knowledge that I am so blessed to call friend!

During the conversation we covered so much practical information that all Christians should be equipped with when it comes to defending your faith. Apologetics is about defending our faith, not arguing or apologizing for it. The key to apologetics is to know the Bible deeply and being prepared to share our testimony whenever God presents us with the opportunity. Giving a reason for the hope that we have in Jesus Christ as our savior may be hard to get out of our mouths at times but it doesn't have to be.

Key Takeaways:

  • Christian apologists don’t apologize for their faith, they defend it by knowing God & His Word
  • Get your faith solid by spending time with God & being in his word daily in a disciplined and diligent way
  • Christianity is the ONLY religion that has evidence
  • As Christians we must be prepared to share our faith when someone asks us to give a reason for the hope that we have - we can do that gracefully & in love
  • Don’t just read the Bible.... study it!
  • We don’t need to beat anyone over the head with a Bible

Break Free from Toxic Cycles: One Choice Away From Change in Your Relationships with Justin & Trisha Davis26 Feb 202500:40:22

Send us a text

This week is all about the change we long for in our lives but can't seem to ever have actually have happen. Have you ever been there? Wanting to see a situation in your life or habit change but no amount of will power seems to do the trick? I know I have been. Whether it's failed attempts at working out, relationship discord or overreacting to situations... change it something we all know we need.

I have two amazing people on the podcast this week to talk all about how all it takes is one choice to see real and lasting change in our lives. Justin and Trisha Davis are authors, teachers, and pastors and coaches.  who create courses, do marriage conferences and coach couples, individuals and churches to help relationships thrive. They are the founders of RefineUs Ministries. They are some of the most authentic and real people I've ever met! Their ability to share the truth and offer healing through the work of Jesus is wonderful!

Relationships can feel like a constant struggle. How can we recognize and overcome behaviors that leave us wounded, broken, and exhausted? One Choice Away from Change (Coming out March 4th!!)  helps us identify dysfunctional life patterns that cause us to repeat the same mistakes in relationships, fall into the same bad habits at work, or argue about the same things with those we love.

This is a book you HAVE TO HAVE !! I know I'll be reading it over and over again!

Key Takeaways:

  • The 1st step to change is to realize you are stuck
  • We all want change but we don’t know how to change
  • We can’t keep doing what we’ve always done and expect different results
  • Our emotions don’t get to dictate our actions
  • You can experience healing along the way not just at the end of the healing process
  • Transformation can’t take place until we take ownership of our choices
  • Forgiveness is a choice we must make over & over again

Send us a text

I am giddy about this week's podcast episode! Two of the sweetest and funniest people I know joined me to chat and share their story of God's faithfulness in their lives. It's one of those... only God could do that!... type of stories! (which are some of my favs!!)

Janice & Danny are two peas in a pod! Their whirlwind love story is the kind of stuff only the amazing hand of the Lord could orchestrate! Both of them are joyful, full of life and love to laugh. Janice is the Podcast Host of 'Journey with Janice' and Author of several books and devotionals. She is the creator and host of the TELL Women’s Conferences and Holy & Hilarious Comedy Events, where she spreads God’s joy, love and truth through laughter, God’s Word and spoken word poetry. Danny is the emcee for her Holy & Hilarious Comedy events, plays guitar on the worship band and is everyone's hype man! They love to share their story and biblical truth to encourage everyone to know Jesus personally, walk in the fullness of their identity in Him and celebrate life in every season.

When Marriage Feels Impossible: How God Restores Love with Shayla Huber12 Feb 202500:33:52

Send us a text

For the next few weeks we are going to focus on love. The love of God in our lives, the love of others and how we can love ourselves as dearly beloved children of God. This isn't to be cliche since Valentine's Day is right around the corner, but since love is being talked about I want to jump into the mix and remind us of true biblical love.

This week I had the blessed opportunity to chat with a new friend of mine, Shayla Huber. She is an author and speaker passionate about faith, personal growth and relationships. In her transformative book, 10 Things I Hate About My Husband: How God Health My Heart, Restored My Marriage, and Set Me Free, Shayla candidly shares the struggles she faced in her marriage and how her faith journey led to healing of her heart through the love of Christ, restoration of her marriage and freedom as a daughter of Christ. Through personal stories and biblical insight, she offers encouragement and hope to women facing similar challenges, show how God's love can restore even the most broken of relationships.

Key Takeaways:

  • We need to do the heart work before we can experience break through
  • God is our savior not our husband
  • We need to find our identity in God alone, not in being a wife, mom, daughter, employee, etc.
  • Pursue the inner healing with God, you deserve to be healed
  • Carve out time to be in God’s word, it’s so important!
  • The enemy is after your marriage - don’t let him take it

Now Over Next: FOMO is Done Holding You Back with Hope Reagan Harris05 Feb 202500:37:49

Send us a text

Season 6 of the podcast is here and ready to bless you!! God has been lining up an amazing group of people to share with you through the conversations you'll hear over the next number of weeks.

We are going to kick off the year and season with one of my FAV people to hang out with over on Instagram. She is authentic, genuine, funny and has a huge heart for the Lord! Hope Reagan Harris is the author of This Is My Happy Place, Purpose Doesn’t Pause and JUST RELEASED Now Over Next! She graduated from Pepperdine University and spent seven years in corporate America. In 2024, she founded Purpose Doesn’t Pause Inc., a nonprofit celebrating and elevating God’s restoration by sharing women’s testimonies on her podcast and sending postcards worldwide.

We chat about her newest book, Now Over Next.... Our conversation covers so much of her personal testimony of how she faced FOMO (fear of missing out) as God transitioned her from working in corporate America to being a stay at home mom running a nonprofit organization.

Key Takeaways:

  • FOMO is holding us back but God wants to move us forward
  • We can feel stalled out but God is preparing us for what’s next
  • If you’re only focused on the next, you’re not taking the time to realize what God is doing now
  • Nothing is going to fulfill you like the plans of God
  • You don’t want to miss out on what God is doing
  • The small things are the big things in God’s Kingdom
  • As you follow Jesus your desires change

Hope in the Darkness: Trusting God’s Presence When Life Feels Heavy with Dustin George18 Dec 202400:37:05

Send us a text

I am completely blown away that this is the last episode of Season 5 of the Confidence in Christ Podcast!! God has been so faithful!

We are ending season 5 and 2024 with a wonderful send off. I was able to chat with Dustin George about his new book, Before Dawn: Knowing God's Presence in the Dark Seasons of Life. I have to say... what a timely message. I feel like winter brings about a bigger chance for depression, anxiety & sadness just because of the drab weather (at least in my neck of the woods). Plus... the holidays aren't always joy filled & happy for all of us. I know this all too well.

One of the biggest ah-ha's for me during this conversation was when Dustin talked about how God has never failed. That isn't anything new to me but when we are in grief we add the word 'me' to the end of that statement... God has never failed me. But when we stop and look over all of history we see that God hasn't only never failed US personally... he has never failed ever! And he never will! That alone gives us hope in the midst of the trials and hard seasons.

Dustin C. George is a lead pastor, a writer, and a conference speaker. He has served for nearly two decades in various pastoral positions across all age ranges. Before entering full time church ministry, Dustin taught high school English for ten years. In his free time, Dustin can usually be found fly-fishing in the Smokies, expanding his skills as a craftsman, or enjoying his next adventure. He and his wife, Rebecca George, live in East Tennessee.

Key Takeaways!

  • God is always with us, even in the dark seasons whether we feel it or not
  • If you’re a follower of Christ, you are never alone - He is with you
  • Be still - in seasons of grief, sorrow and trials, silence can be healing
  • Remember that God’s word is eternal truth and our feelings are fleeting
  • God Has Never Failed!!
  • It’s not only that God hasn’t ever failed you... but He has never failed ever!

Craving True Life Change? How God’s Word Can Transform Your Life with Dan Jacobsen04 Dec 202400:32:18

Send us a text

Are you craving for a change in life that will lead to actual transformation? God's word is the answer.

The Bible is our #1 way to know God, hear God, be led by God and truly understand anything in life. One question we as humans ask all the time is how do we get into scripture and really experience that life change that we are so craving?

Dan Jacobsen is on fire for the Lord and passionate about seeing people like you and I experiencing transformation in our lives because of God's amazing work through scripture. That's why he finished the book his grandfather started.. wait until you hear about it!!

Dan Jacobsen is the lead pastor of Heartland Community Church and grandson of the late Warren Wiersbe. Warren, a renowned Bible teacher and former Moody Church pastor, who published more than 150 books throughout his lifetime, including the popular BE series.

Years ago, an unpublished manuscript tucked away in a dusty manila folder was unearthed by the Jacobsen family. Dan spent two years preserving his grandfather’s original writings, completing the unfinished work. The result is Becoming New: A 100-Day Journey of Transformation through God’s Word , a powerful continuation of Warren’s legacy.

Within these pages lies a culmination of decades of Biblical study, thoughtfully written for any Christian to embrace and deepen their love for the Lord. It’s not a typical devotional book, rather, it focuses on one theme - the daily transformation of your life and world through the truth of God given by the Holy Spirit. Each of the 100 days in Becoming New offers a distinct theme, allowing readers to explore different aspects of their spiritual lives

Key Takeaways:
Gain grandfatherly wisdom with a rich Bible commentary through this book

Learn how to prioritize God’s word, grow in your understanding of what God’s up to and see how He’s changing you in your daily life

Let the Bible interpret and illustrate itself

If you want to take your faith walk seriously but also want to know God’s word in a way that gets deep in your heart, this devotional will help get you there

We only understand the New Testament because of the history shared in the Old Testament

Discovering God’s Bigger Story for Your Christmas Season with Donna Amidon27 Nov 202400:36:17

Send us a text

Traditions are something that many of us hold on to tightly. Wanting to pass on some sort of meaning or fun especially during the holidays. This year I'd like to introduce you to a new tradition that will point everyone involved towards Jesus. It's more than setting up a manger scene and reading a story, it's a short daily reminder the entire month of December that will draw you closer to God in ways you never experienced before... with the Jesse Tree.

My new friend Donna Amidon is the author of Tracing His Promise: Understanding the Bigger Story of Jesus and What That Means for Us. It's a beautiful blend of rich theology, relatable stories, and everyday application along with renewed hope and trust in God as you witness His faithfulness to His people.

Tracing His Promise is an inspiring study of Jesus in the Old Testament. You can use the stories to teach your children/grandchildren about the promise of Christ during the Advent season. The book provides resources for families to begin a Jesse Tree tradition, including a link for a printable ornament for each day, tips on hosting an ornament exchange, and facts about how the Jesse Tree began.

She is a graduate of Southern Evangelical Seminary and a dedicated teacher at Back to Bible. She’s a seasoned speaker at women’s events and conferences, bringing insights from years of leading women’s Bible studies. She has held various church roles, including pastor’s wife, worship leader, small group director, and student ministries leader. Donna and her husband make their home in Virginia with their two children.

Key Takeaways:

  • Jesus is more than a baby in a manger at Christmas time
  • Jesus’ life didn’t start with the red letters in the New Testament
  • The Jesse Tree is an advent tradition where each ornament represents an Old Testament story that points to Jesus
  • The stories of these ornaments help us see the eternality of Christ & draw us closer to Him
  • Practice the presence of God not just at Christmas but every day of your life
  • Trusting God comes from knowing God and we do that through spending time in scripture

Is Life Falling Apart? How Desperate Prayers Draw Us Closer to God with Rachel Wojo20 Nov 202400:39:43

Send us a text

Prayer has been heavy on my heart for a few months and having back to back interviews for the podcast about prayer really drove it home for me. We as God's people have to be people of prayer. It's our main line of communication to God. Us talking to Him and Him talking to us.

Today's guest knows all about being angry with God and coming to him with her raw & real emotions. She has written two books that both talk about how hard and desperate life can feel, and how to go to God in the midst of it all. Rachel Wojo is an inspirational author, speaker and podcaster. Through her biblical approach and personal life experiences, Rachel empowers women to discover strength and hope in everyday situations. Despite enduring the loss of her mother, adult special needs daughter, and father, Rachel remains resilient.

This conversation is jam packed with so many amazing nuggets of truth that I ran out of room on my note sheet while we were chatting! Rachel's approach to including God in her life through creative ways of connecting to him in prayer were so inspirational to hear. One of my favorite was prayer habit stacking!

Key Takeaways:
Desperate prayers are when we recognize that whatever is needed is outside of our control

We set standards for what we think prayer should look like... we need to drop prayer perfectionism

We get to know God’s voice stronger when we spend time with him, talking & listening

Take every raw emotion straight to the feet of Jesus

Prayer habit stacking, add prayer to a habit you currently have

God has never broken a single promise & He won’t in your situation either

Discovering the Depth of God’s Love Through Prayer with Rachael K. Adams13 Nov 202400:37:51

Send us a text

They say that "you don't know, what you don't know". I think a lot of us don't know or aren't aware of the depth of God's love and how we have access to that love at all times. One way that we can discover the depth at which God loves us is through prayer.

My dear friend Rachael Adams has a passion for helping women discover God's purpose and love for them. Author of Everyday Prayers for Love, A Little Goes a Long Way, and host of The Love Offering podcast, Rachael Adams, hopes to help women realize their God-given purpose and significance. She and her husband, Bryan, live in Kentucky with their two children, Will and Kate. Her work has been featured on Good Morning America, Crosswalk, Proverbs 31, Today Parenting, and YouVersion.

In this conversation we talk about how prayer makes all the difference in our walk with God but also in the way we love others. Jesus tells us in scripture that "they will know you are mine by your love". Our distinctive marker of Christians is our love for others. That's not an easy task because.... people can be hard to love! We are only human, how are we supposed to live out this kind of love in our every day lives? You'll hear all about that in the episode this week.

What's even better is that you can read more and walk through an entire month of going deeper on this topic through Rachael's newest devotional (preorder below!) Everyday Prayers for Love: Learning to love God, Others and Even Yourself. It's an amazing 31 day devotional and reflective journal that takes you into scripture and shows you how to practically what this love looks like and how to live it out. I can't recommend it enough!!

Key Takeaways:

A little prayer goes a long way

We can all pray to an audience of one who can reach the hearts of millions

The more time you spend with God, the more you’ll recognize His voice

Be in God’s word so that you can know if what you’re hearing aligns with scripture

Be faithful and steward what God is doing in your life right now

Pray for eyes to see people as God sees them

Preparing For The Holidays: How to Make Meals Meaningful Again with Anita Hinkeldey McVey06 Nov 202400:48:13

Send us a text

Meal time is under attack from the enemy isn't it? It feels impossible to get everyone seated around a dinner table let alone have a meaningful conversation. So what do we do? How do we make meal time meaningful again, especially with the holiday coming up?

My guest, Anita shares her wisdom on this topic and how food brings us all together. Anita Hinkeldey McVey is a midwest farmer’s daughter who grew up in northwest Iowa on a steady diet of faith, family, and food. Her passion for cooking and gardening inspired her to create a blog, Picnic Life Foodie, where she shares her favorite recipes and the fond memories they bring to mind. With their two sons now “out of the nest”, Anita and her husband, Marty, live on an acreage in central Iowa with a large garden, a fishing pond, and an energetic hunting dog named Stark.

Something that I really want to encourage you with as you listen to this episode is the portion of the conversation where we talk about the holidays and how we are called to hospitality not entertainment. Between Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest none of us can live up to the picture perfect settings and meals culture is pushing on us to create. We have to redirect our focus from the entertaining mindset to one of hospitality. Where we take time to have the conversations with people, letting them know they are seen and valued versus rushing from one course to the next making sure everyone is happy and getting exactly what they want. Let yourself off the hook this holiday season… you have permission to enjoy the meal with your family and rest with them.

Key Takeaways:

  • Food is easily relatable, that’s why God uses it to speak to us in scripture and in every day life
  • Go gives us smaller bites of wisdom, so we can chew on it with him
  • Invest in dinner time, whatever that might look like in this season of life, be flexible
  • There is a difference between entertaining and hospitality
  • Focus on the people -you have permission to not go the extra mile this holiday season and just rest with your loved ones
  • Reach out to those who are facing loss this holiday season and let them know you see them and understand how hard this can be

A Wife’s Guide to Biblical Manhood: Walking Alongside Your Husband’s Faith Journey with Vince Miller30 Oct 202400:37:50

Send us a text

Biblical manhood… what is it and why as women should we care that much about it? As women in community with men, whether that be our husband, father, son, brother, co-worker or friend, we need to care about their relationship with God. The world is distorting what manhood is and if we aren't diligent in helping our men seek what the Bible teaches on the topic we could unknowingly walk them towards the wrong path. We have to be supporters in their choosing to following the truth and not culture.

My guest this week, Vince Miller, is a ministry veteran in this area. He has written 30+ books for men on all sorts of Biblical topics. From Bible studies to video series, he wants men to know who they are in Christ and get to know Christ better. His heart is for our men and he's here this week to clue us in on how we can come along side the men in our lives and help them grow in their spiritual walk with the Lord.

Vince gives us women practical ways we can come alongside our men on their faith journey and goes more depth in the conversation so make sure you listen to it a few times. It is so helpful and encouraging to be clued in to what we can do as wives, daughters, mothers and friends to encourage our men in their faith journey.

All in all… this is one of the most fun and informative conversations I've had on the podcast over the last 2 years. Share this with your friends, family and the men in your life!

Key Takeaways:

  • The enemy takes truth and distorts it slightly and that’s dangerous if you don’t catch it
  • True manhood is rooted in God’s design
  • Every man needs another man by his side who’s been down the same road, encourage your man to be in community
  • 4 strategies for how women can support their man
  • Men hear critical voices from all around them, don’t be one of those voices
  • Encourage your man to be around other Christian men, meaningful relationships, men are far too lonely

Breaking Free From Fear; How Jesus Gives Us Authority to Overcome with Angela Pitnikoff23 Oct 202400:35:32

The fear that we feel seems to be growing day after day. Those what if questions start to sound legit and it get's harder to distinguish between truth and lies. What if something happens to my family? What will happen after the election? What if all this hard work is for nothing?

Without the truth of scripture speaking into our lives on a daily basis these lies and fears begin to take over. How do I know that? Because I've lived it far too many times in my life. I've been paralyzed by fear, hyperventilating with a panic attack on the horizon… trapped by fear.

This week my guest Angela and I are here to remind you and possibly tell you for the first time that YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIVE IN FEAR! There is a way to break free from fear and live in place of authority over your fears!

The topic of breaking free from fear is something both Angela and I are passionate about. Why? Because we have both experienced the freedom Jesus offers us from crippling fear and anxiety and we want you to experience it too!

Angela Pitnikoff is a pastor’s wife, boy mom, worship leader, speaker and podcaster. She loves to lead worship and help people know the heart of God, understand the power of the Holy Spirit and receive the love of their heavenly father in a deep way. On the podcast, Kingdom Daughters, she shares her desire to help women understand their true identity in Jesus and walk in true freedom through Jesus! You can find her free 5-day devotional and free 30 bible reading plan at Thekingdomdaughers.com. Angela lives with her husband and 3 boys in Northern California.

These strategies are going to be what changes everything!

Key Takeaways:

  • We have to know what we stand for and we get that by getting into God’s Word
  • Fear is not from God!
  • Speaking scripture out loud to your fear stops the enemy
  • You can’t live in abundance when you’re always on the defensive in your life - protect yourself with God’s Word
  • The devil has to shift his strategy against you when you stop him in his tracks with scripture & praise to God
  • You have the Holy Spirit inside of you, that’s the same power and authority that raise Jesus from the dead.. use it!
  • Remember who you are - a daughter of the King

Discovering God’s Calling on Your Life and Finding Clarity with Brittany Bruce16 Oct 202400:38:51

Send us a text

I feel like this is a constant struggle I face….. knowing what God wants me to do. Have you ever been there? Wondering if you're on the path God has for you and if you're not, how on earth to get back onto it! Discovering God's calling on our lives can seem like a daunting task but my friend Brittany is on the podcast this week to share with us how to find clarity in that area.

Brittany Bruce is a podcaster, educator, and serial entrepreneur with a passion for helping women view their marketplace as their mission field, believing that serving others is a way to serve Jesus. Growing up as a preacher’s kid, Brittany was always connected to ministry but later found herself building a successful business. Despite growing that business to 7- figures in just 18 months, she found herself disconnected from her faith. In obedience to God's call, she laid down the business and relocated with her family to Alabama. There, Brittany founded Well Done Women, a thriving community and coaching business that empowers women to boldly live out their God-given purpose and serve Christ through their work and daily lives.

I have personally learned so much from Brittany and am so thankful that she joined me on the podcast.

I pray this conversation blesses you like it did me. I'd love to hear what you thought about it! Leave a review on your favorite podcast player or click the “reply” button on this email!

Key Takeaways:

  • We as humans are constantly trying to figure out who we are, then we encounter Jesus and he kindly tells us, we are His
  • God doesn’t mass produce His people, we are uniquely made in His image
  • Getting clarity in your calling requires you to know who you are, and that is God’s child 1st and foremost
  • Clarity starts when God calls you into Himself
  • We need to pursue the Word of God because we want to, not because we have to
  • Truly knowing God is a personal adventure we go on, it’s not something taught to us on a Sunday morning

Enduring Life’s Trials & Holding on to Faith with Lisa Plett09 Oct 202400:33:54

Send us a text

Sometimes what we hope won't happen is exactly what God has planned for us. This isn't a cruel trick from the Lord but instead his divine plan playing out for his glory and our good. These things build our faith and draw us closer to the Lord as we trust him with our lives.

My guest this week, Lisa Plett, talks about this very thing as she shares her story in her new book, A Stroke of Love. Lisa is a Jesus lover, wife to Brad since 1994, and the proud mom of four incredible boys. Her journey includes raising a son who experienced a prenatal stroke and adopting a son from Jamaica when he was 13. These experiences have shaped her unique perspective on faith, resilience, and unconditional love, making me a passionate advocate for special needs families and adoptive parents. She has a heart to encourage and uplift others facing life's unexpected challenges by sharing her experiences of finding purpose, hope and healing within God's plan.

Our conversation was one of vulnerability and honesty when it comes to the trials of life. Lisa shared such great practical advice on how we can endure life's trials while still holding on to our faith. Make sure you pass this conversation & book on to a friend that you know could use some encouragement in their journey.

Key Takeaways:
We can feel like we have given up our faith but we can know God never leaves us

Even if we give up on God, he never gives up on us

You have permission to lament to God, he welcomes it

We don’t have to feel guilty when we tell God how we are feeling

Honesty with God is always the best route to take

Counseling can give you the strategies to work through & process what we are facing

There is always hope because of Jesus even if you can’t see it

“I’m not healed - I’m healing”, it’s a constant process

Stepping Into The Unknown, Embracing Faith & Trusting God’s Plan with Renee Helmkamp02 Oct 202400:41:08

Send us a text

The unknown can be a terrifying thing can't it? As Christ followers we know that we are supposed to trust God with everything but when we can't see where we are going that can be scary. I'll be the first one to admit that I have to remind myself daily of the goodness and faithfulness of God so that I trust Him fully! Without looking back at all he's done in my life and the lives of others (like my guest this week) it's a challenge to embrace my faith and trust God's plan.

That's exactly why I invited Renee Helmkamp to share a little of her testimony with us this week. She is a mom and now grandma that is living her best life in her 6th decade of life! She is a pediatric physical therapist by education and recently returned to the USA from living & serving for 3 years in the Dominican Republic. Now Renee is going back to school to become a preschool teacher for students with special needs and going on the adventure of a lifetime with the Lord.

Hearing her story of trusting the Lord was exactly what I needed this week. It's an emotional and grief filled time for me personally and when I hear these stories of God's faithfulness it reminds me of his presence and his deep love for me. I pray it does the same for you.

Key Takeaways:
God will bust any excuses you might have for not obeying Him

Remain open to what God has for you

Trusting God fully means having a mindset of adventure

Keep your communication with God open and know that He is preparing the way before you

Love God and know that he is for you and wants you to experience abundance

We can have joy knowing God is in the driver’s seat of life

God knows and sees our needs in every moment

Practice the presence of the Lord & look for him

Fighting Doubts & Finding Hope Through God's Plan with Lisa Steven25 Sep 202400:37:58

Send us a text

My guest this week knows a thing or two about fighting doubts. Lisa Steven is the co-founder of Hope House Colorado, which provides free self-sufficiency programs to parenting teen moms in key areas of life along with offering housing support and so much more. But Lisa didn't just wake up one day and think… wow what a great idea to support teen moms. She began this journey as a teen mom herself. With little to no support found in her own family, her boyfriend's (now husband) family welcomed her in and extended the love of Jesus to her in a way she had never experienced.

Doubt that she could be a mom at such a young age.
Doubt that starting Hope House Colorado would actually work.
Doubt that this thing she felt God calling her to would actually work out.

Yup… she can speak to us about doubt. But also HOPE!! There is such hope in Jesus! Her story and so many others can look impossible but with God at the center, they become possible! Your journey may feel impossible at the moment, but listen in to hear how there is hope written all over it!

This conversation is going to leave you with hope, encouragement and a new awareness of God's faithfulness in your life!

 Key Takeaways:
Love teen moms right where they are and show them you care by asking about their baby

There is nothing you have done or had done to you that could ever make God not love you

Take time and look back to see how God has been faithful over your life

Don’t count yourself out, God will equip you for what he’s calling you to!

Do one thing at a time and trust God, faith takes action one tiny step at a time

Unlock Your Confidence & Discover Your True Identity with Shari Braendel18 Sep 202400:37:52

Send us a text

Have you unlocked your confidence?

To answer that question I talked with Shari Braendel from Style by Color, a woman who wants others to recognize their true beauty given to them by Christ.

Shari is the Founder & CEO of Style by Color and she inspires women to new levels of confidence through her online digital products, style programs and You Tube Channel. Author of Help Me, Jesus, I Have Nothing to Wear, she is the creator of the Color Code System, and the Closet Outfit Planner.

Drawing from her many years in the color analysis industry, Shari aspires to impact women and challenge their beliefs about themselves. She has certified over 300 women since 2010 through the Color Code Academy and Christian Image Consultant Academy, offering comprehensive training aimed at equipping women with the skills and knowledge needed to become Color and Style Specialists. She is also the founder of the Women’s Matter Initiative providing Color Confidence Workshops to non-profits that serve women coming out of distress and abuse.

Our conversation was Wonderful and I learned so much about color & style in just 30 minutes!! BUT… what's more important is that she taught me how dressing confidently can help me share the love of Jesus with others.

Key Takeaways:

  • Discovering our colors & style helps us be more confident in who God has created us to be
  • Inner beauty is true beauty
  • If we aren’t paying attention to our clothing we may not even be relevant to the people we are trying to reach for Christ
  • When you’re confident in your own skin & wardrobe you’re not worries about what to wear and are freed up to do what God has called you to do
  • Embrace who God has made you to be, enjoy life and find like minded friends

Overcoming Addiction and Living in Freedom with Justin Fahrenbruch11 Sep 202400:40:52

Send us a text

Our testimonies are important! It says right in scripture….

Revelations 12:11 “They overcame by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony..”

Too often we don't think our stories matter or will make an impact on the lives of others. When in fact our stories are what God is using to bring others to him! When they hear of the radical transformations, the quiet personal times with the Lord or whatever our stories hold… it draws them into the amazing person of God!

That is just what this week's guest is here to talk about! Justin Fahrenbruch is a powerful man of God who is evangelizing anywhere and everywhere he can telling others about how God saved his life. It's nothing he did on his own, it's all Jesus!!

It's AMAZING!! I'm so excited that I get to share it with you!!

Key Takeaways:
- We can’t just know a lot about God, we have to know him personally

- Praising Jesus on Sunday and living in hell Monday through Saturday is not the life we are called to

- Bad choices lead to bad habits which leads to addictions

- If you’re truly searching for God, he will reveal himself to you

- God is after your WHOLE HEART not just part of it

- Go from mentally agreeing with the Bible to surrendering your life to Jesus

- Jesus is everyone’s savior but not everyone’s Lord (we won’t let him be)

- Letting garbage into your life will result in garbage coming out of you

- Continue to combat the toxic thoughts from the enemy

Strategies for Surviving Life's Storms with Pastor Justin Kendrick04 Sep 202400:32:26

Send us a text

Why does God let bad things happen to good people?

Why did God let that person die?

I love God, why am I struggling so badly?

These are the hard questions that we avoid with God until they meet us abruptly in our life. They are questions we need to ask but we aren't sure where to find the answers or maybe be are afraid of finding out the answers. Either way… we need to explore these hard topics as  we grow in our faith & confidence in Christ.

My guest on the podcast this week, Pastor Justin Kendrick, gives us strategies from his newest book, How to Quiet a Hurricane: Strategies for Christian Endurance in the Midst of Life's Storms, on how to approach these questions. They are necessary to navigate life's overwhelming, frustrating and inevitable storms. These strategies empower us to move past our fears and anxieties into a life of real and enduring peace!

Justin Kendrick is the author of Bury Your Ordinary and The Sacred Us. He is the lead pastor of Vox Church, which he founded in 2011 with a small group of friends on the doorstep of Yale University. The church has since grown to multiple locations across New England, with the dream of seeing the least-churched region of the US become the most spiritually vibrant place on earth.

Key Takeaways:
- We avoid wrestling with the hard questions of life with God

- Every time we bargain with God we are demanding that God function at the level of our own reason, which is dangerous

- The real roadblock to Christian growth is pride

- Life revolves around God ... not me

- Elevate the promises of God over your own opinions

- The difference between.... God + Me.... God not me.... God then me.... God in me

- The secret to Christian growth is God IN me

- Be a person who prepares for the storm instead of a person who reacts after they’ve been blown over by the storm

Trusting God is not always easy. The situations and challenges we face are overwhelming and trusting God isn't always our go-to response. We get it because we've been there too. If It's Good Enough For Jesus, It's Good Enough For Me with Rachel D. Baker21 Aug 202400:50:45

Send us a text

There are so many things the world tells us should be at the top of our to-do list and consume our time. But are those the things Jesus wants us focusing on? That's where healthy boundaries come into place. Boundaries aren't walls we build to keep people out or control others, boundaries are more of a personal limit/ guideline so you can manage your own behavior. When you are setting healthy boundaries use the phrase “so that”. “I'm doing this 15 mins of Bible time so that I can connect with God and be a better version of myself for my family.”  Rachel and I dive into this at length along with other so many other helpful strategies to help you get back to what Jesus is asking us to do. What is important to him is what needs to be important to us.  Rachel D. Baker is a speaker, coach, and author who is obsessed with helping women reclaim their time and sanity. As a chronic pain & illness warrior, special needs mom, and woman with ADHD, Rachel deeply understands the battle of doing All The Things for everyone else while trying to keep your head above water. Now she shares sanity-saving strategies, resources, and scriptures with women through her podcast, “How’s All That Working For Ya?”, encouraging you to create some breathing room in this one and only life. Her encouragement and sass cut through the fluff and speak directly to the hearts of overwhelmed women with a mix of humor, vulnerability, and no-nonsense truths. Key Take Aways:
  • Decide what activities refill your cup and do the things that bring you joy, peace and connects you to God
  • You can know your purpose & calling and not be exhausted walking in it
  • Accept permission that you can have time to yourself and it’s not selfish
  • It’s possible to reclaim your time and sanity
  • Whatever is your “that can go” thing from your schedule probably needs to be your “go to” thing

Getting to know God is important in our lives. Today I talk with Jack Mooring, pastor, author, speaker, and songwriter about that very thing. ENTER TO WIN JACK'S BOOK HERE!
GIVEAWAY WINNER ANNOUNCED ON THE PODCAST AUGUST 21ST!

In this episode, we talk about how hard it can be to see God's goodness when things are tough. Many Christians feel like their faith is a roller coaster, with times when God feels very close and other times when He feels far away. Jack knows what that's like. By looking at the lives of faithful people from history, he has found strong reminders of God's unchanging truths.

Episode Highlights:.

  • Sin Explained: Jack explains that sin is the good things that God made, but twisted by the devil. Knowing this helps us see the true nature of sin.
  • Why Jesus Died: Jack reminds us that Jesus didn't just die so we could go to heaven. He died so we could know God personally.
  • Caring Like God: As we get closer to God, we start to care about the things He cares about. This changes how we see the world and what's important to us.

Key Takeaways:

  1. We need to embrace ALL of God's attributes.
  2. Sin is good things twisted by the devil.
  3. Jesus died so we can know God now.
  4. Getting closer to God changes what we care about.

When Obedience to God Isn't Easy with Emilee Kurt 05 Jun 202400:35:47

Send us a text

Obedience in daily life is... H.A.R.D! What does it look like? How do I know I'm obeying God? What if I wait to obey God? Obedience is a topic that we sometimes shy away from because it can lead to conviction of our lack of obedience. Today we get the chance to talk with Emilee about what obedience looks like in her life and a big step of obedience she took recently with God! She is one of those authentic friends that you just can't get enough! I love what she shares and how she encourages us to keep following God!

Emilee is a wife, writer, and creative that loves drinking coffee, studying Scripture, and playing Catan with friends! Emilee loves partnering with Christ-centered clients using her gifts in graphic design and marketing. She equips women through local discipleship, coaching at With The Shepherd, and she is always, always writing! Connect with her on Instagram @emileekkurt

Key Take Aways!

  • There are different personalities in the authors of the bible and it helps us relate to scripture more
  • Seek God in your calling and let him be your prize
  • Obedience is your responsibility but the outcome is God’s
  • let God fill you with grace and truth
  • look at what your motive is for your obedience, is it for praise or for your love of Jesus?
  • Our fears can keep us from fully obeying God
  • you do the natual and let God do the supernatural
  • train your brain to hear god and obey him when he speaks
  • when you don’t obey what god has asked of you, it is a sin for you
  • What God asks of you isn’t going to be what he asks of others, do what God has called you to do

The Christian Life You Want with Greg Lindsey29 May 202400:36:33

Send us a text

This week I had the opportunity to sit down with Pastor Greg Lindsey, a trial attorney turned church planter who has been the lead pastor of Discovery Church in Colorado Springs for over fifteen years. He is also one of the founding leaders of COSILoveYou, a Colorado Springs-based organization committed to uniting and igniting the local church in love for the city. Greg and his wife, Stacy, have been married forty years and have four daughters and nine grandkids.

He just recently released his book, The Rest of Your Story: The Path to the Christian Life You Want ! Our conversation has so many amazing take aways and I listed just a few below... but can I tell you one thing... go get this book! It will bless you!!

Big Take Aways:

  • People have left Jesus and been in religion
  • We can’t believe or behave our way to the life we want
  • We understand the significance of our sins but we don’t have adequate context about our stories
  • Jesus came to rescue us
  • We live forgiven because of what Jesus did on the cross, but do we live today like it matters?
  • Sin isn’t the win for Satan
  • Be aware of the Devil’s schemes
  • The enemy is after your identity
  • We need to live as if we need saved every day from sin, because we do!
  • Invite Jesus back into those hurt moments & see how God sees you in them not what you see
  • Don’t diminish your story because of someone else’s
  • What is the theme of lies the enemy is using against you to go after your identity?
  • You can’t win a battle you don’t believe exists

Peace in the Waiting, When You Love People Who Don't Love God with June Chapman 22 May 202400:40:40

Send us a text

Today's episode is with my new friend June Chapman. She is the real deal folks! She is authentic and shares with us how to have peace in the waiting, who doesn't need some help with that? We've all experience waiting periods in our lives and walking through them without peace is miserable! We talk all about it today!

June's greatest hope is that she might come alongside you in your journey of waiting and help redirect focus to brazen trust, broken surrender, and bold worship before Jesus. By the Lord’s great, abundant mercy, my writing led to a book: Peace in the Waiting: When You Love People Who Don’t Love God. Learn more and order your copy!

She hopes her writing will point you to the truth of John 1:5 and to the glory of God. His light really does shine in the darkness. When life is hard, and things don’t make sense, she hopes her words direct you to a God who meets you in sorrow, confusion, and doubt and says He is with you. She hopes together we can run our race well – exalting the name of God, doing His will in the world, and living on mission to spread the good news of the gospel far and wide.

These are some of the main take aways I wanted to share with you!

  • Hopelessness isn't fixed over night, it's a process
  • Join God in the waiting, get your focus off of yourself and onto Jesus
  • Learn the habits of how lament and worship go hand in hand
  •  Prayer is a way we can experience peace in the waiting
  •  If you don’t know what to pray, pray scripture
  • We need to accept that we are only intercessors in prayer, God does all the work!
  • Take your pain and lament to God, not to the world because it will consume you
  • There is a vast expanse between waiting and waiting well
  • Focus less on what you don’t know and more on who you know (God)
  • Take your thoughts captive and fill your mind with scripture

Letting God Sustain Us In Motherhood with Special Mother's Day Guests08 May 202400:25:51

Send us a text

Motherhood seems to make us women think that we need to have it all together, handling every situation that arises on our own. There seems to be this unwritten rule that mom's have to be able to fix everything and keep it all together in the process. That's just not true.

This idea that mom's have to sustain themselves AND their families is actually unbiblical. God is the one who sustains us. We have to give him permission to hold us up, keep us going and supply everything we need. That's what we chat about today in this special Mother's Day episode of the podcast with a fun baking analogy.

There are also a number of special guests who are honoring their moms/daughters on this very special day! Make sure you listen to see if you recognize any of these voices!

Thank you to all of the wonderful women who honored their loved ones on the podcast this week. It was my great privilege to give you the space to do that.

As  promised in the episode, here is the link to the Scripture Cake Recipe!

Unconditional Love Rescued Her Rebellious Son with Suzanne J. Roragen 01 May 202400:34:07

Send us a text

Mother's Day is right around the corner and I want to take a few weeks to really highlight the impact our mother's can have on our lives. When I first heard about Suzanne's book I absolutely had to meet her and share her story with you on the podcast specifically for Mother's Day! We know how big of an impact our love as     mother's can have on our kids... but when those kids are rebellious... what about then? Does it make a difference?

In her new book, Unconditional: How A Mother's Love Rescued Her Rebellious Son, Suzanne details the challenges she faced while parenting her son, Nick, and the journey of redemption that followed. The book is essentially a guide for parents navigating the highs and lows of raising children, weaving in the theme of the unconditional love of a mother for her child. It's more than a story. It's a testimony to God's faithfulness!

This is for all the mom's, grandma's, aunts or friends who need to hear that there is hope and redemption possible for that wayward loved one. Make sure you snag the book at the link below and connect with Suzanne on IG!

Doing Things For God vs. With God with Jen Weaver24 Apr 202400:35:11

Send us a text

What does it mean to do things FOR God vs. WITH God? Aren't we supposed to do things for God... you know share the Gospel, obey what he says, etc? Yes you are! But the fulfillment of doing those things comes when you do them WITH God. Leaving him out of the equation is not something that we should be doing as    Christ followers. Today my friend Jen and I discuss this very topic and give you some practical take aways on how you can start doing things WITH God and experiencing the fullness of life God has for you.

Jen Weaver is the host of "Good God Talks", a podcast helping you connect with God through uncommon conversations in everyday moments. Her most recent book is "A Beckoning to Wonder: Christian Poetry Exploring God’s Story." This collection of beautifully illustrated poetry helps you to feel God as close and present in the Bible and in your life. Jen serves as a Bible teacher and conference speaker and loves to empower believers to engage in life WITH God

Some of my Big Takeaways were:

  • Being in scripture is where we  have a shared relationship activity with God
  • There is a difference between talking at god and with god.... doing things for god vs. with god
  • Look at what you believe about god that causes you to respond in a way that is works based
  • Is the way you respond to god based on the biblical truth of scripture?
  • God has always been in pursuit of your heart with loving REDEMPTION
  • Ways that God can talk with you:
    • supernatural peace
    • through circumstances
    • external confirmation
    • listening while praying
    • nature
    • scripture

How To Get Excited About Being in the Bible with Liz Cobo17 Apr 202400:46:35

Send us a text

Today is allll about the Bible and I am geeking out about it! You all know that I LOVE talking Bible and how you can be excited about getting into it. My friend Liz is all about the same thing... teaching you how to be in scripture! Our conversation is one you can't miss!

Liz Cobo is Bible teacher and writer focused on encouraging Christian women to become biblically literate through daily study of God's Word. Liz is currently writing her first book on the topic of contentment and is a student in the Christian Apologetics Master's Degree program at the Talbott School of Theology at Biola University.

Here are my take away notes from our chat!

  • the Bible can feel overwhelming, remember that you learn as  you go along so stay consistent in your time with God
  • Daily Disciplined Devotion to being in God's word is KEY!
  • Being in scripture gets you up close to Jesus
  • the Bible is focused on God not you.... the Bible is written FOR us not to us or about us - get your mindset in the correct perspective to receive what it says
  • Commentaries & word studies are great ways to go deeper in your scripture reading
  • Devotionals & Bible studies are the dessert of getting into the Word of God - you need to be in the Bible outside of those things
  • Ask God to reveal more of himself to you through prayer before you ever open up your Bible to read

Understanding God's Call For Women with Beth Guckenberger 10 Apr 202400:32:43

Send us a text

Today's conversation is such a blessing to each of us who listen with hearts and minds ready to receive. We are talking about God's call for women with Beth Guckenberger! And it's not what you think!!

Beth Guckenberger is the Co- Executive Director of Back2Back Ministries, an international orphan care organization serving orphaned and vulnerable children in ten locations around the world.  She is the author of fourteen books  including her newest book, Warrior of Eden: How Curiosity and Questions Lead to Understanding God’s Call for Women.

Some of my biggest take aways from the conversation:

  • Good teaching leaves you with more questions than answers
  • Hebrew word: Ezar - help someone can’t give themselves
  • Being everything that God created us to be should not minimize what God created our spouse to be, it should maximize it!
  • The 4 commands of the great commission were given to both men and women.
  • Don’t feel satisfied with what you know and have at this moment about the Bible, continue to search scripture for more of God and more of who you are because of Him.
  • When your interactions with your spouse become more transactional than relational.(listen at ~19 min. mark!) Key word… intentionality of time!
  • You are released to be exactly how God made you!

Make sure you connect with Beth and get her newest book!
