In this episode we are going to be talking about the contrast of acting on impulse versus adopting a more patient approach to living. To help us consider the pros and cons, we are going to look at the story of someone who acted on impulse to their own detriment in the Bible - Uzzah. In 2 Samuel 6:1-7 we learn a very sobering lesson from Uzzah’s end. We learn that even well intended impulsiveness can be very damaging.

I used to think of holding grudges as an Olympic Sport. But I reached a point in life where I just didn’t have the capacity or energy for it. I realised something needed to change. I want to use this episode to share some of the lessons I have learned whilst on this journey to embracing forgiveness.

The thing I enjoy about studying the Bible is that in different seasons, the same scripture can hold different meanings. Whilst reading the book of Amos 4, a chapter titled, “God’s Punishments Have Not Reformed Israel” in the NKJV, I was taken aback by the idea that God released plagues on the Israelites to get them to turn back to Him. It led me down this path of wanting to understand more about when and why the Lord chastens us (divine discipline) and the importance of not being prideful enough to think that we can live without God. In Genesis 41 we see how God creates an opportunity for Joseph to be liberated out of a dire situation. In the process Joseph enacts a plan of action that saves Egypt from impending doom. So what can we learn from the story of Joseph? Firstly, it is God who creates opportunities for us and room for promotion. It may take longer than we like, but we need to trust in Him.
