S6 EP97: Part 2 Don't Be Like a City Without Walls - Self-control [FOTS]11 Dec 202400:48:32

The fruit of the spirit of self-control, like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, are all matters of the heart. There is never a time where a believer is 100% good at loving others, 100% good at having joy, 100% good at living in peace etc… Cultivation is everyday intentional work. You may not be able to fully master self-control on this side of eternity but it is in your best interest as a child of God to start an intentional heart work.

Three thoughts from this episode:

  1. It is not difficult to be self-controlled but it is difficult to deny self from our cravings, guilty pleasures, vices, desires, wants, gratifications. That is why we do not use behavior modification to address heart habits that take the gentle and constant illumination of the Word of God in our hearts. We cannot be in control of the work and expect the Holy Spirit to be in control. For there to be a mastering of this Fruit, we must allow the Spirit to take control and we obey, even when the obedience means temporary discomfort. Remember, the temporary discomfort shall yield permanent joy of the Lord.
  2. Self-control is deeper and broader than willpower. Willpower can take you to the steps of the staircase but to climb the staircase with focus, precision, perseverance, you need self-control. Packed in that self-control will be patience, gentleness, humility, joy, and freedom. Go after self-control, and don’t give up until you have achieved this goal. It is pleasing to the Lord.
  3. You cannot master self-control without releasing strongholds from your heart and mind. Where there is a yoke of slavery to sin, there is a lack of self-control. And we have all fallen short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came from Jesus Christ. Your heart is not perfect, it is not ok, it needs God everyday. Don’t let the devil deceive you.

Here are some coaching questions to ponder on about Self-control:

  • Do I believe that I can master self-control and be made perfect when I meet Jesus someday?
  • What are my ungodly habits, actions, thought patterns?
  • Which of the ways in cultivating self-control can I begin practicing more of?

S5 EP86: Dr. Fran Abanyie - Out of the Goodness of Your Heart18 Sep 202401:05:27

Dr. Francisca Abanyie, affectionately known as Dr. Fran is a Public Health Physician who serves as the Deputy Director of the Commissioned Corps Liaison Office at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. Dr. Abanyie is a Pediatric Infectious Diseases physician who earned her undergraduate degree with Honors in Chemistry from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; her medical degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey's Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (UMDNJ-RWJMS), now Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; and her Master of Public Health degree with summa cum laude distinction from UMDNJ's School of Public Health (UMDNJ-SPH), now Rutgers School of Public Health. Dr. Abanyie went on to complete her General Pediatric Residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA, followed by her Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine. She is also a graduate of Atlanta’s Federal Executive Board’s Leadership Government Program that focuses on developing leadership skills with special emphasis on building the five Executive Core Qualifications and is a Certified Life and Career Coach and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

Dr. Fran is passionate about mentoring the younger generation and is a purpose-driven life and career coach. She is enthusiastic about philanthropic efforts and aspires to build a hospital in her hometown of Cape Coast, Ghana. She currently serves as the President of the Ghana Physicians & Surgeons Foundation, an organization set up over 20 years ago to support the mission of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons based in Ghana by engaging in advocacy, education and programmatic events that advance the public health of Ghanaians in Ghana as well as in the North America Diaspora. She is also the owner of Flavors from Fran’s Kitchen (3FK), an online bakery best known for their premium coconut shortbread cookies that will have your taste buds dance for joy and make you feel like royalty.

In this episode, Dr. Fran shares her spiritual and relational insights about life through the goodness of God. You will learn from Dr. Fran that:

  • True goodness is about putting others first in spite of life’s challenges
  • You must analyze what others say about you in the presence of Jesus so He shows you what is true and what is not
  • Goodness requires intentional practice and passing of tests that the Lord brings your way through people
  • Goodness is about the selfless care for others
  • You must get out of your own way and see, know the essence of who you are
  • You must learn to put forth goodness with no expectations
  • To cultivate the character goodness, you must take time to know and hear God’s heart
  • Get the inpouring from God so you can pour out to others
  • You must desire the Fruit of the Spirit; it is all one fruit. Desire it, do the work.
  • Here’s your formula for cultivating this fruit: “Dear Lord, despite this/my situation, I will trust and obey you”

Questions to ponder on:

  • How has your life been transformed by the goodness of a friend or loved one?
  • How can you show goodness to others despite your own life situation?
  • If the essence of the character of goodness is holiness, then in what ways can you be intentional about cultivating goodness today?

The formula that Dr. Fran shares is one that requires a partnership with the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, our fruit is fake [see FOS introductory episodes]. The Lord is holy and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth. When we learn to desire the character of Jesus, we begin to develop satisfaction in God alone. That satisfaction is where true joy of the Lord resides and so does goodness of the heart. Out of the goodness of God’s heart, we are blessed. Pass it on!

S5 EP85: The Goodness of God [FOTS]14 Aug 202400:57:23

Here are three thoughts from today's episode:

  1. Our idea and understanding of God’s goodness as believers, humans is merely scratching the surface of this rich attribute of God. Goodness or being good is a high moral standard outwardly expressed when you show kindness to someone. Goodness in God’s standards is being holy, just as Jesus corrected the rich young man “only God is good”, because the heart of man needs much work to attain that level of purity God desires from us.
  2. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we can walk in an intentional pursuit of goodness. We must direct our heart and mind toward Jesus and be obedient to all that He wants to teach and show us. Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things. When the teaching happens, it is our duty to practice it, put our faith into action so we do not become dull, stale, dead.
  3. A big aspect of goodness is extending grace to others. God is gracious to us, and all throughout the Israelites journey, we see that his grace was sufficient for them when manna was provided through when they entered the promised land. When you are unable to extend grace to others, it is time to truly check the status of your E.G.O and ask yourself, am I extending Grace Onto others?

Here are some coaching questions to ponder on about goodness:

  • Understanding what goodness is today, if Jesus were to look into my heart, which would he see more of - Kindness or goodness or both?
  • Who is God asking you to be good toward today [show the characteristics of a holy saint]
  • Do I have the joy of [knowing and understanding who God is to me] and do I accept and believe in him steadfastly?

S5 EP84: Akia Campbell - God's Kindness Inspired Me to Shift24 Jul 202400:44:00

Akia is a Woman of Faith in Christ, who started off with a mustard seed of faith when she took her first major step in 2015. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Akia moved to Houston, Texas, in February 2015. Not knowing that her life would be forever changed and transformed for God’s Glory. She is a daughter, aunt, sister, and friend to many. She has walked in the paths of accounting, personal development, life coaching, and various forms of leadership. She is a soon to be published author of her first book The Preparation. As of March 2020, Akia resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

In this episode, Akia shares her story of experiencing God’s kindness in a season of abandonment and how that attribute of God has helped her transform and make major life shifts. You will learn from Akia that:

  • A mustard seed of faith takes you to your blessing
  • You are capable of moving from the ‘job years’ to ‘jubilee years’
  • There is power in our “yes” to the Lord especially during those ‘job years’
  • Your job years of stripping creates spaces for God’s pruning and purification of your heart, mind, soul
  • God’s kindness is choosing us and clothing us in righteousness
  • Kindness is selfless love, an opportunity to be spirit-led
  • Kindness that is spirit-led often moves us out of our comfort zone
  • Assess your story in the presence of the Holy Spirit
  • Meet Jesus daily before you meet others; this way you pour from a full cup within your spirit and soul

Questions to ponder on:

  • How has a spirit-led kindness from another person impacted your life?
  • In moments of discomfort, how can you activate kindness towards others?
  • In what ways is God asking you to show kindness today?

Kindness that is spirit-led positions our hearts to help others and ask questions later. We are quick to obey the prompting even when we are being inconvenienced. Because your whole being is rooted in Christ, you believe that He who has called you to this fruit of Kindness and all other Fruit of the Spirit is faithful, and He will do it. God is your great Provider, sovereign. Show kindness to others even when you don’t understand.

S5 EP83: This is Your Next Level Kindness [FOTS]10 Jul 202400:58:43

Here are three thoughts from today:

- A daily practice of self-reflection will lead your heart to explore how you express goodness and generosity to others in your communities. Kindness is about that goodness, that love expressed. We experience God’s goodness, He wants us to pay it forward.

- There is a difference between being kind and being nice. Also, kindness that places an expected response from the receiver is not a genuine Fruit of the Spirit. And we must be cautious of our heart’s posture when we are offering to do things for people.

- Being kind in friendship is a cherished act of love and we need more of this. Friends that can lay aside their agendas and be there with you and for you. To have a friend like this you need to be a friend like this. The goal is to look to Jesus to teach you how to be that friend and you just be. No expectations, just transformation.

Here are some coaching questions to ponder on about your kindness:

  1. Who has been kind to me lately? How did their kindness make my heart feel?
  2. Who is God drawing my heart to show kindness to?
  3. How can I be more attentive to the Holy Spirit’s promptings to show kindness to people I do not know? How do I show such kindness?

S5 EP82: Shinny Sutherland - This Love is Patient26 Jun 202401:11:15

Shinny describes herself as “one-half” of This Love Works ministry. Married to Karlton for 17 years, Shinny and her hubby Karlton are your Start Again specialists serving couples for the past 7 years. After trying to do marriage their own way, living with unmet expectations and failing miserably, they were introduced to a community that would provide them with the tools that ultimately saved their marriage. Shinny is a mother to two children, a high schooler and a Navy Sailor. Showing her kids what a healthy marriage looks like is a core mission. Together, Shinny and her husband Karlton have learned that their marriage is a reflection of Christ and His bride. Some keywords that makes Shinny standout as a godly woman would be intentional, responsible, and obedience.

In this episode, Shinny’ shares her story of cultivating patience and finding healthy ways of managing and responding to life situations . You will learn from Shinny that:

  • Patience is a peaceful godly character.
  • Dangerous prayers humble our hearts in the presence of God.
  • Forgiveness is part of your journey to cultivating a heart of patience.
  • Patience requires understanding…lots of it and God is the only one who gives understanding [Read Psalm 119].
  • It is important that every godly woman knows who she is and who she has been.
  • Know your emotional indicators, responses, reactions that slowly draws your heart away from the Lord.
  • The fruit of patience can be paired with peace, humility, forgiveness, self-control, the habit of being quick to listen.
  • Refrain from this ungodly habit: complaining.

God’s love is patient and you can be a patient godly woman. Remember, when God is in the situation, and you allow Him to take over, trust that He has truly taken over. That is a love that is patient with you.

S5 EP81: Waiting On and For the Lord - Patience [FOTS]12 Jun 202401:07:50

Here are three thoughts from this episode:

  1. Patience is a virtue, and most importantly, it is a characteristic of the Fruit of the Spirit. You have the Spirit of God in you; therefore, you are a new creation, your old ways have passed away. You have every spiritual capacity to develop a heart of patience.
  2. Developing or cultivating a heart of patience requires time. Become more cognizant of your behaviors and habits as well as your surroundings. Self-reflection is great practice to engage in often. You can do this through journaling and audio essays where you verbally record your day and the Fruit of the Spirit you felt challenged by.
  3. Bearing the fruit of patience is a daily practice of allowing the Lord to lead and guide you. Remember, if you disregard the Lord’s guidance, you are disobeying Him and that in itself is a sin. His command is that you wait on Him and wait for Him. Do just that in prayer and with joy and watch what happens in time.

Shade’ is an author, a motivational speaker and mentor passionately committed to helping people by motivating them to believe and live again no matter how life may have dragged them down. She believes that even when life knocks us down, we still need to dig deep within, and search out what will inspire, that would move you from that deep, dark place to where you are supposed to be. She inspires using the scriptures as the backbone to all her inspiration. Shade' knows first hand what it feels like to be knocked down by life's challenges and she also knows that understanding the power of the word and positive thinking is the main key that can change every situation. She understands that it takes courage to get back up again after life has dragged you down. Shade's life passion is to work to encourage and inspire others to live again and enjoy life.

In this episode, Shade’ shares her story and journey to finding inner peace through one constant practice - prayer. You will learn from Shade’ that:

  • Your place of prayer is a place of peace (Read Isaiah 51:10)
  • Peace is that inner knowing that God is there for you
  • When you are tired and overwhelmed, peace can be far from your heart but when you pray, prayer stills your heart in the presence of God
  • When your mind is running many miles an hour, pause, yield your heart to the Lord
  • You walk in perfect peace by being still, silent, and taking a reset
  • Your reset is being still and knowing
  • Where there is trust, there is peace

Questions to ponder on:

  • How do you walk in perfect peace?
  • What does being out of peace look like to you?
  • Where there is trust, there is peace. What does your heart say about this when the Word says “trust in the Lord with all your heart…”

S5EP 79: The Oasis of Peace and Serenity [FOTS]08 May 202401:20:43

Thoughts from this teaching on peace:

  • Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God. If you call yourself a “Child of God”, being a peacemaker is your mandate. It is in your spiritual DNA and must be part of everything you say and do. The Holy Spirit guides you and teaches you so you are not peacemaking in your own volition and strength, rather you obey what the Spirit tells you to do and how to do it. Peacemakers obey the will of God.

  • Peacemakers are confident, courageous, vulnerable, honest, humble. They embrace grace and truth. They value people and do not resolve conflict out of fear. Peacemakers approach problems with love, they are congruent with self and others, have a gentle and kind hearted approach. Peacemakers are proactive and intentional with cultivation of relationships, they listen more and speak less and they operate from a place of humility.

  • Peacekeepers avoid conflict, speak more and listen less, they please people and neglect self. Peacekeepers yearn for a life of peace but avoid difficult conversations, they hold things in their hearts, they are reactive and passive. They operate from a place of fear and defensiveness.

  • You already have peace. It is free! It is a fruit of the Spirit and you get to cultivate it daily; however, you cannot cultivate this on your own. You need to remain connected to the Vine so that you hear and obey what God’s will is for your situation. Obedience to the will of God is the secret to inward peace in your situation. So, the path to inward peace does not cost or bring financial burden, it brings peace to the mind and heart.

  • To know the difference between Holy Spirit peace and fake peace, look to your heart and how you portray other virtues: humility, patience, faith, trust, hope, gentleness (that part). Your peace can be disrupted and that is part of the realities of life. This is why you need your roots firmly planted in the One you believe in - Jesus. Allow His word to permeate your heart instead of the world’s ways, accept his teachings and abide in his presence even when you do not understand ‘why’ life is the way it is. He will always teach and show you exactly what you need when you need it.

S6 EP95: Mastering Gentleness Through Surrender - Gina Ospina [FOTS]04 Dec 202401:04:32

This episode needed no introduction from me because we had to jump right into the topic at hand. Gentleness is needed in all types of relationships and Gina Ospina is THE godly woman chosen to deliver some wisdom to all our hearts.

Gina Ospina is a daughter of the Most High, wife of Rafael for 34 years and mother of Laura, Jackie and Gabby. Together with Rafael they provide leadership for the Marriage Ministry at Victory World Church at the Norcross Campus. She is passionate about biblical community and discipleship as well as equipping the saints for the work of the ministry. Her greatest joy is to spend quiet time in her sunroom, watching nature and the beauty of God’s creation as well as making and drinking a great latte. She enjoys cooking, reading and talking walks with her family and dogs.

So many golden nuggets, here are some highlights:

  • The ingredients for spirit-led gentleness include humility, patience and compassion.
  • Remember, God is God all by himself and it is best, in tough situations, to start from the premise that God is good.
  • Ask yourself “how do I glorify Jesus in this situation?”
  • Gentleness in its purest definition is “handling people with care, compassion and understanding”.
  • Cultivating gentleness is a command - we must “clothe ourselves” in it.
  • When you try to mold and change someone into something they are not, it can bend or break them.
  • Be gentle and kind with yourself and others.
  • Know the nemesis of your gentleness…

I am so happy that this episode is finally releasing after almost three months post recording. I pray Gina’s words encourage your heart in the season you are in and remember, healed people heal people so spread this healing wherever you go. Do it for the glory of God. Go and be gentle!

S5 EP77: All Joy No Stress [FOTS]10 Apr 202400:52:21

For truths in this episode, “Joy Is…”:

  • Joy is hope in the dark
  • Joy is gladness of heart
  • Joy is being assured
  • Joy is agreement
  • Joy is understanding
  • Joy is acceptance
  • Joy is contentment in and with the past, present, now, and future happenings
  • Joy is knowing that you are safe, secure, accepted
  • Joy is acknowledgment of you unwavering reliance
  • Joy is a deep admiration and reverence for God
  • Joy is belief in the greater
  • Joy is the emotion you choose when hope comes
  • Joy is best produced in the midst of discipline and suffering
  • Joy is Jesus

When hope dims, joy dims as well so beware of your killjoys and embrace your joy activators. Killjoys can be anything or anyone purposefully trying to snuff out the God in you - do not let it, do not let them. If you are in the depth of depression, there is no hope, reach out and begin a journey of restoring your hope and joy. So, get rid of your killjoys - your idols. Your joy burst is a repentant heart obediently walking in step with Jesus; as you heal, you sprinkle your joy dust onto others around you.

S5 EP75: Cultivate Divine Love [FOTS]20 Mar 202400:49:42
  • Love is defined as walking in obedience to God’s commands. Love is defined as God - God is love. God’s design for love in humanity is that we love Him first so that we can learn from Him how to love ourselves and others. If we do not learn to open our hearts to God and desire His love, moving from a mechanical, transactional relationship to a more intimate, transformational relationship, we will not be fully open to ourselves and to others. We will miss God every time. The type of love we get from the Spirit is agape love, every other kind we express or think we express is counterfeit - Philia, Eros, Ludic etc

  • The truth about love is that, loving others the way Christ wants us to is risky and can be messy. That is why it is risky and messy love. We cannot choose and do it in our own natural humanness. We need the Holy Spirit’s guidance and we must obey Him. If we see Jesus as our Lord and we obey Him, we can forgive, and we can forget, and we can extend grace onto others. Now that is the right ego - you caught that? If your EGO is of the Spirit, you Extend Grace Onto others.

  • Cultivating love is getting back to the attributes of love and allowing God to show you areas of your life where you need change. 1 Corinthians 13 can be your love test. Test yourself by simply asking - am I kind? Am I patient? If you are brave, ask people around you. Don’t be defensive, a true disciple who wants to grow will welcome the feedback and ask God to show her or him the path towards change.

S5 EP74B: Intro to the Fruit of the Spirit PT220 Mar 202400:45:41
  • The Fruit of the Spirit is interconnected to all the Graces of the christian faith as we see in 2 Peter 1:5-7. This interconnectedness is how we can tell a real fruit of the Spirit from a fake fruit of the Spirit. The fake one often comes from our natural personality traits. A disciple of Jesus, whose heart has been nurtured by the Holy Spirit, does not rely only on their personality but also looks deep into the heart to hear what the Spirit desires.

  • Learn the Word of God and allow your heart to be taught. Teaching requires an active engaged mind willing to take in information and practice what is taught. This way, in moments when you need to show grace, the characteristics of love and kindness can be shown.

  • Do all you can to remain attached to the vine. The enemy is cunning and he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. To weather the storms of life and overcome the mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational hurdles, we must walk with Jesus daily. Not just reading the word, but committing it to memory and repeating what we have read so often throughout the day that it becomes a part of you. If you have to sit with a verse for a whole week, do that… I do this dear sister!

S5 EP74: Intro to the Fruit of the Spirit PT 120 Mar 202400:44:12

In this Part 1 of the Introduction to the Season 5 series, I teach about "Who is the Fruit of the Spirit".

  • The Fruit of the Spirit comes from the Holy Spirit who advocates for us daily. Any mental, emotional, relational struggle we are experiencing in life must be brought into the Holy Spirit’s presence; invite Him to teach you because that’s what Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit will bring to our remembrance all that we have learned from Him.

  • Which takes me to thought number two, you must learn the Word of God and allow your heart to be taught. Teaching requires an active engaged mind willing to take in information and practice what is taught. This way, in moments when you need to show grace, the characteristics of love and kindness can be shown.

  • Thought number three is you must do all you can to remain attached to the vine. S5 EP73: Season 5 Opening20 Mar 202400:28:03

Yessss! We are back for season 5! This is the season of 'remaining' when everyone is busy searching. In this bonus episode, I open season 5, share ministry updates and some personal updates too.

When I took these past few months to rest and receive perspective through prayer and solitude, I realized that my primary aim is to enjoy Jesus and glorify Him forever. How I glorify the Lord is cultivating the gift seed He has planted in my heart. I need to take each seed and nurture it, cultivate it and make sure I steward my giftings well.

From writing, to leading, to healing, to faith, I must use these gifts well and multiply them for His Kingdom. I am so happy to be back doing exactly what rests well in my heart. We kickoff season five exploring life in the Spirit - specifically the Fruit of the Spirit. I will teach on the fruit and also invite guests to explore the various characteristics of the fruit with me.

Excited for what's coming up so much that I am doing a podcast dump! Enjoy!

"The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven's Armies will make it happen". Isaiah 37:32b

To start off the year 2024, Rev. Julia Oji joins Kate on the virtual couch for a much needed heart preparation as we start the New Year. A few words to note from their conversation:

S4 EP70: Cultivate a Pure Heart - HT Series PT 1021 Dec 202300:38:02

Psalm 51:10... repeat this: "Dear God, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me."

Ezekiel 36:26... repeat this: "Dear God, please give me a new heart and a new spirit. Put within me that heart of flesh and remove this heart of stone."

So the BIG question: are you ready to have this transformed heart and renewed mind?

Today you can choose to move from:

Pain to purpose

Lost to found

Confusion to peace

Brokenness to wholeness

Loneliness to thriving

Failure to focused

Ashamed to adored

Staleness to thriving

Cultivate is your heart set on being nurtured by the Holy Spirit as you pursue Jesus. Cultivating is like agriculture: the fruit you eat today did not just appear. It was cultivated - nurtured, time spent, pruned.

S4 EP69: Shaunte Prevot - Level Up Your Generational Blessings14 Dec 202301:02:07

Shaunte Prevot is a mom of five beautiful children, a wife of twelve years and a daughter of God. She loves date nights and family nights are a treasure in her heart. I sat down with my good friend to explore aspects of her life and the journey of womanhood. She is a new Author and you can find more about her children’s book “Goodbye Fear, God is With Me” on Amazon. Shaunte is passionate about racial reconciliation.

She believes that Racial Reconciliation starts with US. Loving each other and what makes us different. We’re purposefully made up of an array of colors as Christ intended, all stemming from dirt. God saw everything he made and said it was very good. ALL of us are made in the image of Christ (Genesis 1:26-27). As I challenge myself I also challenge you to speak up and stand out for racial reconciliation in our land. May you be bold and courageous as you speak up and stand with Jesus! Let’s get back to the beginning together.

Here are a few nuggets from our conversation:

  • Be intentional with your words and in seeing your loved ones
  • See difficult seasons in parenthood as seasons
  • When you begin to see Jesus for yourself, your relationships change
  • Your relationship with God is a growing journey
  • Pursue God with your heart, seek His face, spend time with Him
  • You notice a shift in your struggles the more you surrender to Jesus
  • Be prepared to let go of ungodly friendships so as to create space for godly relationships
  • Humility is a powerful trait of a godly woman
  • God sees and knows more about your seasons than you do - trust Him
  • To train godly children, you must allow yourself to be trained by the Holy Spirit
  • Train up: this is an intentional purpose assigned to you by the Lord
  • Think generational blessings as you partner with the Holy Spirit to break generational curses

S6 EP94: The Art of Listening Well - Gentleness [FOTS]26 Nov 202401:02:38

Truth be told, without the help of the Holy Spirit, there would not be a CTLF podcast, a Godly Woman & Company ministry, a Daisie family, or even my last born child. I was a hot mess of a prideful angry woman out for vengeance... Gentleness is not being weak. Gentleness is your quiet strength packed with patience, humility, mercy, compassion, and a heart that sees the person before the sin, the mistake, the error.

Gentleness that comes from the Spirit produces a permanent state of being from the heart, meaning it is not fake. You are who you are at home and when with others. You are who you are in traffic and when with your children. When you get angry, you have a way of communicating your points without dehumanizing or belittling the person you are talking to.

Here are three thoughts from today's episode on Gentleness:

  1. We can cultivate a heart of gentleness when we believe that being gentle is possible. If you desire this fruit, it is one that God will answer quickly. He will indeed put you in situations that would require your utmost ability to be gentle. Remember, developing a heart of gentleness is a daily work of art. Allow the potter to do his work.
  2. A gentle person is humble and patient. A patient person is humble and gentle. A humble person is patient and gentle. Remember Jesus said he is humble and gentle, and if you are called to be like Jesus, and the seed of the fruit is in you, then the potential and possibilities are endless. Maybe, you have to change your view of who you think a gentle person is, just as I had to change my view. Once I did that, the journey of cultivating this heart habit wasn’t so bad.
  3. Make it a practice to walk in step with the Holy Spirit, listening for those whispers and nudges. Make it a point to go at the pace of God. Make it a point to be obedient to any direction you receive as you embark on a journey to heal your heart from anger, pride etc. An inability to be gentle has roots in anger and pride; allow the Lord to step in and guide you to your FREEdom.

S4 EP68: Unleash the Power of Agreement - HT Series Part 907 Dec 202301:02:59

The kingdom of God can often be seen as an upside down Kingdom. We see in Hebrews that agreement with God leads to understanding, not understanding God leads to agreement.

Because of their faith -

- Abel was commended as righteous. Agreement establishes our righteousness with God. You are in alignment. You are in obedience and poised to put that faith into action.

- Enoch gained eternal life for agreeing with God. You have peace about your life and where you are going. You simply believe, you accept God as He is from His Word.

- Noah moved in fear toward God’s will not away from God. He gained righteousness and power. You may be afraid or in fear of your healing journey, your transition, your life change, your heart transformation. Move anyway, move in fear toward God.

Listenand learn the complete list of these faithful leaders of God.

S4 EP67: The Holy Spirit is Not Powerful Unless - PT8 HT Series30 Nov 202301:00:14

Continuing on the Heart Transformation series, we are learning about the human will and God’s will. This episode was a learning moment for me and I hope as you listen you take some time to journal all the coaching questions I ask. The human will is the most powerful force on earth and without our permission, the Holy Spirit remains untapped.

Three thoughts for today:

  • The human will is the most powerful force on earth. The human will is tucked within the mind which is tucked within the soul which is a part of the heart. The human will is the ultimate faculty that actively causes us to do. The human will can be misguided by life experiences, traumas and unpleasant happenings. The human will denies us of the pleasures of walking in holiness because of selfish desires and sin nature. The human will causes us to break our promises and covenants where our will to do is easily affected by our desires for self.

  • To align the human will with the will of God, everything must be set in our hearts - the desire, the motive, the will. Our minds must be renewed on God’s Word constantly enough for our hearts to desire only God’s Truth. If our will is conflicted between the world and God, we will not be able to fully experience obedience in Christ. Our hearts must delight only in the Lord, and verbally confess our desire to obey Him only. The more we confess our sins and profess our desires, our minds renew and that seeps into our hearts. We must allow God’s timing to always be more profound in our waiting than our own timeline. If you are waiting, He knows you need it.

  • Changing a habit does not start with changing a behavior. Changing a habit starts with knowing why you want to change the habit. Knowing your motives and motivations is very important. This first step must be driven deeply into your mind and heart canals to the point of desiring the why. When your heart is settled on the why, you are in agreement with what God is telling you to do, change. Your will to do will shift things as priorities and you will easily begin to accomplish God’s will. The key is to believe with your heart and agree with God.

S4 EP 66 Bonus: Be an Intentional Partner with the Holy Spirit23 Nov 202300:18:06

In this bonus episode, I encourage you to be an intentional partner with the Holy Spirit concerning your mental, emotional, and spiritual healing and growth. I also share two gifts with you. The first is a Life Vision Worksheet. Download this FREE gift from my website resources tab and between today and December 31st, 2023 curate a quiet time for yourself and complete the heart work. The second gift is in this podcast episode. As you listen, I hope you take note of the three reflection questions.

S4 EP65: Motives: Why Do I Do What I Do? PT7 Heart Transformation Series16 Nov 202300:58:00

We may never know fully why we do what we do, however, when we

are intentional about transforming our hearts, “the why '' behind “the

what” will be revealed to us. Question is, are we ready to face

ourselves, and allow God to reveal who we are to us while He nurtures

our spirits into His likeness? Bottomline, dear sister, if you cannot be

honest with yourself about why you are doing what you are doing,

pause and do some heart-work.

S4 EP64: Being a Christian is So Hard? Easy? PT6 Heart Transformation Series09 Nov 202301:09:41

No regrets! Christianity is not easy, not for wimps. It is hard and easy and for those who choose to live a life after Jesus’s life and desire to have a pure heart. Blessed are the pure in heart - for they shall see God! Don’t just keep God first. Allow God to flow in your heart, teach you, lead you, love you, transform you.

Three thoughts for today:

When you accept Christ as Lord and Savior, get baptized, and begin life as a Christian. That is like the early stages of being adopted into sonship. What a pleasure it is, the grace of God, that you are saved. Your faith gets you to the feet of Jesus, your heart gets you to see his face and behold all that He wants you to be and do.

Being saved is great! Strive in the Spirit and refuse to grieve Him. Go against the grain and the urges to be like others who know Jesus with their heads but not their hearts. You were bought at a price. You are anchored in the One who is seen by those who know Him. You are more than a conqueror!

Yes, being a Christian may seem like you are ‘giving up on pleasures of life’, but what would it be for you to gain the whole world and lose your soul. Don’t idolize the things of Jesus more than the thoughts of Jesus. Don’t idolize… your relationship with Jesus as your Lord means you yield to the Master. It is easy for us to follow human Master teachers in Master classes more than the author and finisher of our faith. Ok okay let's ponder on this a bit… the author and finisher…hmmm When you trust, you surrender, you yield, you wait, you listen, you obey…

S4 EP63: Get Rid of Emotional Baggage: PT 5 Heart Transformation Series02 Nov 202300:53:07

Having self control is different from practicing self-control. It is not as easy said and done. You cannot reign over anger when you are pushed to the edge, you cannot pull yourself out of unwise decisions when you are on an emotional high… you need the One who doesn’t condemn and bring on shame. This friend will remind you subtly, what is important and of value to you.

Three thoughts from today's episode are three ways to develop self control:

Keep evil and sin far from your lips, your heart, your eyes. If you harbor sin in your heart and mind, you cannot hear from the Spirit thus the fruit of self-control and the others will fade from your heart. Do not be conceited, do not provoke, do not envy these are the little foxes that spoil the vineyard of our hearts and soon, we are out of control.

Pre-decide how you want the end of a situation to be. If you want to see joy at the end, then pre-decide in your mind that that is what you want and that you are ready to do everything you can to behold that joy. If you find yourself rushing, hurrying, being impatient, slow down and check if you are still on track toward the end you want or you are off track.

Quiet the noise around you and listen for the Spirit’s prompting in your heart. What He says will always align to the Word and in particular, it will bring a sense of peace and motivation - not condemnation and shame. You may feel guilty to make things right but never guilty to harm yourself or others.

S4 EP62: Recalibrate Your Mind - PT 4 Heart Transformation Series26 Oct 202301:07:40

You aren't double-minded! You have the mind of Christ! If you have submitted your heart to Christ, invite Him to cleanse this heart and begin renewing your mind. Your FREEdom and healing from strongholds rests in letting go of your old self (because it's been crucified with Christ) and each day renewing your spirit mind with His Word - His truths and promises.

Three Thoughts for today:

One: Heart Transformation is God’s business. Our business is to sit with Him and allow him the space and time to work His will in us. Don’t let anyone in this world fool you that you don’t need God for a heart transformation. If you want to do it without God, then go for it. I know what that process feels like and I personally do not choose slavery to sin. I choose to believe that there is sin and there is repentance through the grace of God. That to me is freedom when the conscience is at peace and can rest.

Two: Renewing of the mind must be a daily habit and practice on the Word of God first and foremost. Every theory, every podcast, every information out here is basically either accepting of the Truth or denying of the Truth. So what wouldn't we go to the source for ourselves and read. Interestingly, why would we read anything else but the Holy Bible? Not reading the Holy Bible can be seen as an act of defiance, disobedience to the Spirit. Renew your mind dear sister, on the one Truth from which all these other truths are vying for your attention, time, and money!

Three: You are never double-minded when the spirit of God is alive - fully alive in you. You must remember this and the dangers of being here and there. When you try to create your own version of yourself by piecing together a piece of material from here and a patch from here, you know what you have? A quilt! You aren’t a patchwork of leftover materials, dear sister, you are a masterpiece, carefully, wonderfully crafted by the One True God with the purpose of filling the earth, subduing it, being fruitful and multiplying. God made you a masterpiece so stop acting on your own terms as a patchwork - stealing from God, stealing from the devil, stealing from others and stealing from self and mixing it up into your own version of self. Allow God to renew your mind and restore you to His glory!

S4 EP61: What's Sin Got to Do with It? PT 3 Heart Transformation Series19 Oct 202301:16:26

We cannot live a sinless life as long as we are in this world, but God we aren’t under the law but under grace. So when we fall into sin, God’s love should remind us to do the first thing first - repent. Have that heart posture in his presence and acknowledge your sins. Be open, honest, transparent with God - it's just you and him. Ask for forgiveness and commit to his discipleship to grow in Him with the help of the Holy Spirit. True FREEdom, our desire to be set free, begins when we acknowledge, accept and abide. Acknowledge our sinful nature and give it to Jesus; Accept Jesus and His yoke and burden, and we Abide forever in Him - we are committed to His ways.

Three Thoughts for today:

One: Heart Transformation is God’s business. Period.

Two: The sin factor is not talked about enough. In my other sphere of mental health, we excuse many sins with labels which really, if we can begin to acknowledge them for what they are we can begin to get true relief in our hearts and minds. Set the conscience free by acknowledging what you know is so not right, the battle you are facing to let that sin go. A heart that is turned over to Jesus, cannot be taken over by Satan, but a heart that is already rejecting Jesus is opening a door for another host/spirit.

Three: If you can get beyond the sin factor in your Heart transformation, the battle is more than halfway won! Heart transformation is more than tending to your emotions and feelings. It is a journey that requires time, Holy Spirit, and a willing teachable humble heart ready to exude the pure fruits of the spirit. You are ready to live true holiness, you are ready to deny self, die to self daily and allow Jesus to lead your life as your Lord.

S6 EP93: The Morning After... Navigating Disappointing UncertainTimes06 Nov 202400:18:31

On November 9th, 2016, I wrote a blog right after the presidential election that left most citizens shocked! You can read it here. What I wrote in 2016, still stands true today. That is how powerful and timeless the Word of God is, and I stand by those words even louder and firmer today. As you wake up to another morning after, I thought to send something your way to encourage your heart and mind.

Navigating through everyday life can often feel like walking a tightrope, balancing between comfort and the unknown. S4 EP58: Christians Only? PT2 Heart Transformation Series05 Oct 202300:46:02

Wherever you are in your relating to God, whether curious, convinced, or committed, the bad days do come, the good days do come… the difference between Peter and Judas was what? Peter believed, obeyed, repented, and chose. The difference between Ruth and Orpah? Ruth believed, obeyed, surrendered, and chose. The difference between Job and his wife and friends? Job remained committed, obeyed, worshiped, prayed, repented, chose. The difference between David and Saul? David believed, repented, remained faithful, chose.

The difference between you, dear sister and… no one… you have no one to compare your journey with. It is unique just as you are. Start right where you are. We explore

  • The question “can someone experience Heart Transformation without being a Christian?”
  • Define the various types of disciples and you probably are now able to identify which one you are.
  • The differences between heart transformation and behavior modification

Three Thoughts for today:

One: Heart Transformation is a spiritual transformation and one that draws your heart away from the things that interrupt your relationship with the only person who can give you eternal rest for your soul.

Two: The curious disciple know Jesus with her head, the convinced disciple believes with her heart but remains stuck in logic and the committed disciple by faith, does what she obediently knows to do, trusting Jesus with the outcome. Again, which one are you and how can you become committed?

Three: Heart transformation is more than tending to your emotions and feelings. It is a journey that requires time, Holy Spirit, and a willing teachable humble heart ready to exude the pure fruits of the spirit. You are ready to live true holiness, you are ready to deny self, die to self daily and allow Jesus to lead your life as your Lord.

S4 EP57: What is It? The Heart Transformation Series Part 128 Sep 202301:06:12

In this part 1 of the Heart transformation Series, we:

Explore the meaning of the Heart and Heart Transformation and why it is very critical to the overall health of a believer. The world needs it but if the world is not believing in God, they will not be ready for this type of healing - the world will choose to embrace behavior modification which is simply a tip of the iceberg of healing the whole person.

Know the state of your heart - what is the heart? What is in it? And become aware that there is a battle - and the battle is for your heart, your mind is a part of your heart. You can change your mind and still have a corrupt heart… when you change the core of your messaging, it will feed into all areas. You change your mind and keep renewing it and over time your heart with transform into what you feed it.

Learn about the role trust and forgiveness play in the Heart Transformation process; these are two important heart check principles for your heart health.

Become aware of the sin factor which will be explored in detail in series 2.

Understand the fundamentals of the heart when in relationship with God.

Three Thoughts for today:

One: Heart transformation begins with a relationship with Jesus. You cultivate this relationship in trust and yielding of your heart in whatever state it is in.

Two: The conscious mind is a part of your heart but there is more to your heart that isn’t readily conscious - your desires, your yearnings, your hurts, your dreams, your emotions, your motives…

Three: Heart transformation is a journey that requires time, Holy Spirit, and a willing teachable humble heart ready to exude the pure fruits of the spirit. You are ready to live true holiness, you are ready to deny self, die to self daily and allow Jesus to lead your life as your Lord.

S4 EP56: Thrive in God's Perfect Plan and Timing21 Sep 202300:47:17

God always has a plan. His plan remains His plan. No matter the detours in life, the delays, the distractions, His promises and plans about your life remains unchanged. When He searches for you, He will find you. When He finds you, He will call you by name, when He calls you by name and association, He will give you direct instructions and when He gives you direct instructions, it will be your turn to lean into the trust factor, have faith and obediently do what He asks you to do. During this entire process of discovering how you can walk in and work with God’s timing, there are subtle characteristics too - patience, humility, sincerity of heart, gratitude.

Hagar’s story has never been this exciting for me and I hope you have learned a few nuggets to begin applying in your life situations today.

Three Thoughts

  • God in time makes all things beautiful. The beginning of Hagar’s story was not her ending. Even in the situations she encountered, she paid attention to the voice calling her name. Through this voice, she listened, leaned in, and lived a meaningful life of humility and obedience. God kept His promises to her and made her offspring numerous to count.

  • When the timing doesn’t seem right or perfect, be still and wait. Waiting is hard when you think you know how your life ought to be or turn out. When you have waited for a while or a long time, you may be tempted to simply take matters into your own hands… Hagar fled from her situation, despite this decision, God still used her to fulfill his ultimate plan. If you find yourself being desperate, the longer you wait… redirect that desperation toward prayer, meditation, helping someone in need, fasting, or simply being patient with yourself and God, He will find you, call you, and give you the instructions.

  • While you wait, maybe you must be in preparation for when He gives you the instructions. When God gave Hagar the instructions, Hagar had practiced stillness and gained an awareness of self. Maybe in your waiting, God wants you to heal some things, change some things, forgive some things or people… waiting is not futile. There is always something required of you in the waiting, and if you want to wait well, start from within.

S4 EP55: Kyllie's Story Unlimited Joy14 Sep 202301:08:24

Traveling across continents during the pandemic, going to Bible college all this based on a prophetic word…who does that? Well my guest this week did because she and her family chose to follow Jesus. Isolating, leaving friends behind, being on the other side of the world… you have no option but to lean in closer to Jesus. Kyllie [with a double L] because she’s balanced [laugh] Kyllie Martin is the Joy Carrier.

Meet Kyllie, a debut author with a passion for storytelling, the Word of God, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. As a wife, mother, and friend, she brings warmth and connection to every relationship she cultivates. A church leader and speaker, Kyllie is passionate about empowering women and seeing the church embrace the fullness of the Kingdom. Recently returning to New Zealand after completing ministry school in California, she is settling back into a slower pace of life and finding inspiration for her subsequent books.  She is enjoying the rich coffee culture, delectable food, and the midcentury modern design of her family home.

As you listen, both Kyllie and I want to encourage you that “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

  • Choose joy, choose gratitude, choose thankfulness mindset.
  • Recognize that there is always more of God and with God - you can have more of Him everyday.
  • Watch, pause and listen because the Lord is speaking all of the time
  • Sometimes the shift that God asks you to make is the life changing transformation you desperately need.
  • Despite all the greatest achievements, when God calls you it is for a relationship, first, before the doing. You get to BE before you DO.
  • The further you walk with the Lord, the more you get pruned.
  • When you are diligent in your spiritual disciplines, you eventually get to a place of relating with God instinctively; you grow beyond practicing simple disciplines.
  • Be excited about moving from the ‘shoulds’ with God to the ‘wants’ and ‘musts’ with God.
  • Learn to recognize God’s voice in your journey, know and trust this voice first.
  • Know the joy killers in your life - these can be subtle to very obvious cues and clues.
  • When you walk with God closely, He will help you get things done… at His pace. If He called you, rest assured that as you obediently work on the process, He ultimately has to make IT happen. Bring your thoughts, fears to God and be honest about the lies you are possibly believing.
  • The Holy Spirit will counsel you to become who God has destined you to BE-COME.

Happy 1 year Anniversary to the CTLF Podcast! In this episode, no guests, no fan fare, no extras... just Kate and the Holy Spirit pouring into your heart on how to steward your journey well. Kate shares her highs and lows from the year and coming full circle completion in a journey of heart healing which propelled this ministry. S4 EP53 Meliza's Story: You Can See with Your Heart31 Aug 202301:02:30

My conversation today is with a friend in the United Kingdom . She had my heart at these words, and I quote, “You can know the truth, but it won’t set you free until you believe it.” What a powerhouse! Meliza is a wife and mum of two awesome kids. Life is full in Preston, UK. When she’s not running the household or playing taxi, she writes books, develops courses, and coaches people – helping them to walk in freedom; in their true identity and purpose. She loves what she does and enjoys her life – but this was not always how she would tell her story.

So let’s go ahead and hear Meliza’s story. There is a snippet video on our YouTube page where you get to watch a touching moments we had from our conversation - @ godlywomanandcompany

  • Life is all entangled in ‘stuff’ such as identity, purpose, belonging
  • You have to rediscover who you by being awakened to your true identity
  • Trauma may usher shame into your life but God’s perfect gift of grace speaks worthiness
  • The lies from the enemy can steal our joy and rob our peace
  • As God tolerates our messes, He gently guides, leads and celebrates us
  • You can see with your eyes but to know God, you must see Him with your heart
  • After seeing God with your heart, you begin to untangle by replacing the lies in your mind with truth from His Word
  • You can go through therapy, counseling, self-help guides but the best way to get out of the messes is to get out of your own way to hear God’s voice
  • Whoever is in your heart, controls you - your thoughts, your actions, even your beliefs
  • We are all in progress, going from one level of healing to another, one level of freedom to another - just choose to believe
  • God’s love is the agent that activates our faith

Enjoy the conversation, your heart will thank you!

S4 EP52: Hard Lessons from Mistakes24 Aug 202300:35:23

When I was stopped by the police, I had a slight inkling of shame but that quickly faded, years of working on self will do that to you. But I felt guilty. Once I admitted to the officer and apologized… poof, the guilty feeling was gone. Some wake up calls are simply an opportunity for you to evaluate your life, and develop greater awareness. Think of these calls as your journey of identifying unhealthy patterns in your life and learn new ways to manage them. The unhealthy patterns these days can also be distractions from the main goal. When you know that you are being distracted and veered off course, it is good. It is an opportunity to become aware. You become aware and so you develop best practices to gain focus.

Secondly, some wake up calls in life are warning signals. Think of these like the warnings you receive from your doctor after a lab report, or the ‘almost’ ‘near’ misses in life where you get to reflect and change some things.

And thirdly, some wake up calls are a crisis, the result of your or someone else’s disobedience. You become the recipient of the consequences of the disobedience. This third lesson can be very difficult and can result in prolonged suffering. Now since suffering is rooted in how we respond to traumatic event or situations, once we learn to respond well to situations, we can develop perseverance and resilience to help through the suffering as we hope in Christ.

In a typical day-to-day life, life’s journey is pretty mundane [routines run the same] seriously, with little excitement. The ability to shift perspective makes a wealth of difference between getting stuck in shame, guilt and disappointment and slowing down enough to see what lies in between the lines. You get to choose which view you gaze upon when you encounter inconveniences.

S4 EP51: Angela's Story: Did God Say That?17 Aug 202301:01:01

Angela is a storyteller. A child of God. Wife. Mom. Mentor. Friend. She desires to live in such a way that no matter which one you meet, you will see the Word of Christ dwelling richly in her. Angela is also the founder of Wise Word Ministries, a ministry of teaching & intercession. She is not only called to teach; she is also a fervent intercessor. Understanding the power and effectiveness of praying Scripture is essential to her teaching ministry. She is passionate about teaching and empowering people to know the truth and power of God’s Word that sets them free. Angela hosts Wise Word Wednesdays, and you can visit her website for more information. Website info linked in show notes. Angela spills the Truth and doesn’t mince words.

As you listen, here are some nuggets for you:

  • Let God inspire your heart into transformation
  • Be bold in all of the Lord or none of the Lord; no lukewarmness
  • Believe that the work Jesus did, ended it
  • You don’t have to fight for something that’s already been won at the cross
  • Believe that God is both provision and provider
  • Belief, faith, works…they must go together to feel the essence of God’s blessings in our lives
  • With religion we are transactional mindset, with Kingdom we are relational mindset
  • Anyone you want to know, you spend time with. If you spend more time diligently seeking God, you will believe Him more
  • It is only what God says that you have grace to do
  • If you take God’s Word out of context, you are left with the con
  • You must learn to live the Word not just love it
  • Contentment is being aligned with God’s will for our lives

S3 EP50: Train Yourself to be Godly with Kate, Lori, Sonya and Gladys10 Aug 202301:05:48

50 is a big number, a huge milestone and to celebrate this season, my ministry friends Dr. Gladys Childs, Lori Ann Wood and Sonya Ingram join me along with a live audience as we discuss the essence of a godly woman. 1 Timothy 4:7 says to “...Train yourself to be godly” putting your hope in the Living God not on worthless idols. As you listen here are some key nuggets for you to lean in on about godly woman:

  • It is not about a checklist
  • It is more than Proverbs 31
  • It is about being more like Jesus [yes it is possible and God gives us the grace everyday for the journey]
  • Godliness is a process, part of the relationship you cultivate with God
  • We need mentors along the way to help nurture our spirits in the right direction
  • The Holy Spirit is our guide in being godly and Jesus is our way to godliness
  • Make a mindset shift to invite other women who share similar values into your journey and learn to collaborate, not compete
  • When you are spiritually exhausted, you are still a godly woman
  • The outcome, how the journey ends, belongs to God
  • Being a godly woman does not mean perfection, it means righteousness which only Jesus can help us with
  • Practice self-reflections and note the awareness of self that God reveals to you
  • Be trained up so you can lend a hand to another sister
  • Be the embodiment of God’s Spirit and let your light shine

S3 Bonus: Thank You...This Girl A'int Going Anywhere27 Jul 202300:22:56

A bonus episode as I rest and prepare for our August 6th celebration and 4th season. I share how I have dealt with folks questioning my motives, making fun of my accent, and even those moments when I have felt unsupported.

Leading a ministry and the many facets of it is fulfilling, but can get lonely sometimes. You must have that Jesus view to stay motivated, encouraged, and on mission. You must have intentionality and release quickly as soon as you become aware... so your heart does not get too sick.

Thank you for riding with me and lets celebrate the upcoming season and 50th episode. This girl a'int going anywhere, Lord. Thanks for working with me.

S6 EP92: Practical Spiritual Friendships with Willkenia, Yolanda, Trena and Dionna30 Oct 202401:03:58

I recently saw a YouTube video cover that stated that “adult friendships are hard” with the word “hard” typed in bold red colored fonts. It did exactly what it was intended for - it caught my attention. I smirked and scrolled past the video. Why? I did not want to feed my mind with more of the negativity bias  that my natural mind already has worked so tirelessly to overcome. Adult friendships are what they are supposed to be “adult friendships”. Life is lifing, people are evolving and as they change, so would some relationships. The key is how both individuals navigate and mature through the seasons of change; this can possibly mean letting a good relationship go because of your upward mobility in the Kingdom or you’ve outgrown each other. Personally, I do not dwell on the “outgrowing “ phases or even the “seasons” phases; I just walk with those I call friends and remain loyal until there is a shift and a drift or a rift. In any of these three, I have had my share of mistakes in how I handled them but thank God for spiritual maturity. I have learned so much along the way, amidst hurt and betrayal, I still have an open heart for embracing people in my heart.

What does a faithful friend mean to you?

How do you show up in your friendships during difficult seasons?

How often do you pray for your friends?

Who in your life would you consider a friend, an associate, an assignment?

What is the difference between equally yoked friendships and unequally yoked friendships?

I sat down with my friends and the Executive team of this ministry for a great conversation on practical spiritual friendships: being a praying friend and not a preying friend. One draws your heart closer to Jesus in your communication and relating and the other is there to draw from you, drain you and if you are not careful or aware, compromise your holiness. So, enjoy this sisterly friendly conversation and remember healed people heal people, so go out into the world and heal someone today.

Be a praying friend!

S3 EP49: Dr. Bren's Story: Breaking Through Obstacles20 Jul 202300:55:15

I sat down with Dr. Bren C Williams. Dr. Bren C. Williams is a pastor, visionary, conference speaker, community advocate, and author. Her message is one of hope for the future in Christ. She has worked in ministry for nearly 20 years. Dr. Williams currently serves as the pastor and visionary founder of the Impact Worship Center located in Chesapeake, Virginia. She is living out her faith and inspiring others to do the

same. In addition to being an influential voice within the church community, Dr. Williams is also an international conference speaker. She travels sharing the message that God’s love never fails. Her desire is to see lives saved, transformed, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. She is committed to helping others live out their faith with power and purpose. Dr. Williams believes it is high time to break free, break through, and break forth to greater.

As you listen, here are some nuggets for you:

  • Self discovery through God’s process settles you in unlikely yet fulfilling thriving places
  • Identify the things that prevent you from breaking free such as personality, sins, the world, culture…
  • You cannot conquer what you are not willing to confront
  • Start simple small changes and you will see godly opportunities become available
  • God’s Spirit empowers and equips you to do the things we are called to do.
  • Fear paralyzes us into inactivity and lies to us about our own worth
  • The enemy of fear says that we can’t when the Word of God says that we can
  • Immerse yourself in God’s Word
  • God prepares us in our now season for our next season - call it seasons of preparations for purpose
  • Prioritize and allow necessary time to important areas of your life so you can feel balanced
  • Participate in your healing process
  • Once you break through, believe that there is more and break forth
  • You have been created on purpose for a purpose
  • You can overcome every distraction and delay
  • Purpose comes from our passions, what you are naturally designed to do
  • Always remember, delay is not denial, and when you detour, you are still on a mission

S3 E47: The Most Difficult Time in Friendships06 Jul 202300:25:36

Grieving is not a one and done affair. For as long as the human race exists and people relate with one another, there will be moments of grief due to the events associated with loss. Anytime you experience a loss, your heart grieves. Some may be subtle and would not require days, weeks, months, years to walk through. Notice I did not use the words ‘heal from grief’. Grief is a continuous journey of slowly laying down what you once held and exchanging that which no longer holds, for something new and different. The experience of grief brings with it change. Change in the person holding the grief as well as change in the people witnessing the grief.

Here are Three Thoughts:

  • Be a praying friend not a preying friend: don’t vanish when the difficult times roll giving the excuse, I don’t know how to handle such situations. That's why you learn and grow… so many ways to do that.

  • You can be a great friend or a good friend. The former is just as attainable as the latter, both represent a heart of faithfulness and commitment but one says you are extraordinary. Choose to be extraordinary.

  • Here is God in moments of suffering and pain: right where He has always been and he knows, he sees and he cares. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.

S3 EP46: How to Pray for Your Fre/Enemies29 Jun 202300:29:09

Have I prayed every single one of these prayers for my enemies? Honestly and candidly, no, this is a work in process and progress. There is no rush and because we are working with souls and not wood. There are repeated cycles of thoughts that must be broken and or reconstructed about life experiences. So don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying just do this because you have to, I am encouraging you to make this part of your godliness and practice because it heals, it helps, it sets your heart free! Take these one step at a time for steps 1 through 4, and then each prayer one at a time. Some days you may be compelled to pray about blessings, another time you may want to pray for their salvation. No matter where you are convicted and compelled to start, just start and leave the outcome to God.

Here are Three Thoughts:

  • Enemies, frenemies: note that enemy is rooted in hate which has a branch to envy and jealousy, frenemy is rooted in resentment which also has a branch to envy and jealousy. Both carry symptoms of unhealthy comparisons and rivalry which your mind grabs on to and creates unhealthy connections. While the fight and burden may feel physical, the true enemy started spiritual first and seeps into the mental, emotional, and physical.

  • When you pray imprecatory psalms, do so from a posture of humility, compassion and surrender to how the Lord would vindicate you not how you want the Lord to proceed on your behalf. Focus on your heart posture and invite the Lord’s holy work in you, pray and forget. God will do what He does… best

  • Take your time exploring where your heart is in each season when you encounter conflicts, disagreements with people. Your process must begin in love and end in love. It is hard to do this when our heart is hurt and burdened but when you pray out the junk in there, it creates room for God’s saving, abiding grace and love to fill it. You can stand anywhere and be overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit that you begin blessing your enemy, frenemy. This practice takes time and intentionality to cultivate, notice and celebrate the small wins and progress.
