Malaika Kegode is a writer, performer and producer based in Bristol. In 2020, Malaika’s debut theatre show ‘Outlier’ was commissioned by Bristol Old Vic, and is also available in book format now. Malaika has been performing with folk inspired prog-rock band Jakabol since 2018. Together they have performed at music venues and theatre venues alike – bringing a unique and exciting blend of poetry and music to diverse audiences. Malaika’s work tells of how we can find beauty and hope through the darkness. Her overall themes of family, mental health, addiction and love always have an undercurrent of optimism and strength. Her performance style has been described as “filmic” and “musical”. Her two poetry collections Requite (2017) and Thalassic (2020) were published by Burning Eye Books.

Genevieve Carver is a writer, performer and arts educator . Her first collection, A Beautiful Way to be Crazy, was published by Verve Poetry Press in 2020. This is also the name of her latest album with Genevieve Carver & The Unsung, a gig-theatre project she has been leading since 2016. With this project she has nationally toured two shows combining spoken word, music and theatre, celebrating unsung heroes and marginalised voices. Her second publication, Landsick, is also forthcoming from Broken Sleep Books in 2023.

Kayo Chingonyi was born in Zambia in 1987, and moved to the UK at the age of six. His first full-length collection, Kumukanda, won the Dylan Thomas Prize and a Somerset Maugham Award and was shortlisted for the Costa Poetry Prize. He is a writer and presenter for the music and culture podcast Decode on Spotify and his most recent collection A Blood Condition is just out with Chatto & Windus.

Brigitte Aphrodite is a neurodiverse punk poet, musician, writer, theatre-maker and intersectional feminist show-woman from Kent. She makes genre-crossing, status-quo defying, passionate multidisciplinary work which is free from pretension, is anti-hierarchical and aims to be accessible to all. During Brigitte’s formative years she toured extensively as a musician, alongside artists such as Kate Nash and Josie Long. Brigitte has written two critically acclaimed shows (featured in The Guardian, Elle, BBC News); My Beautiful Black Dog: a punk, gig theatre musical exploring depression and Parakeet: an eco-punk musical made and set in Margate about nature, young women and fighting for what you believe in.

Jemima Foxtrot is a writer, theatre-maker, performer and musician who creates and performs extensively nationally and internationally. She has written several works for the stage as well as poetry commissions including for the BBC, Channel 4, and the Tate. All Damn Day, Jemima’s first collection of poetry, is published by Burning Eye Books. Jemima is a founding member of the theatre company Unholy Mess and the arts advocacy group Kindreds Creatives that supports adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse through creative workshops.

Caroline Teague is a London born and bred poet based in Brighton, who writes on grief, identity and how they come to terms with some harrowing realities of being human and being alive, in a style they term ‘tragic optimism’, hoping that the honesty through their writing can translate into something positive and comforting for someone else. They are the creator of the musical project ‘Caroline Smiling’ which blends music, spoken word and illustration to creatively communicate ideas around mental health and queer identity. Caroline hosts London’s only regular three-round slam, Genesis Poetry Slam, and is an artist in residence at the Vauxhall-based queer cabaret night.
