The Calm in Midlife podcast is where we will lift the lid on what it is to go through midlife as a woman in the 21st Century. I will be talking to women about how they define midlife. How old is midlife (certainly not within the confines of 40-65 years as society would believe)? Our conversations will unravel all that midlife can be including career changes, challenges, ageing and body image, the physical symptoms of menopause, how relationships with partners might be changing and preparing for an empty nest. With every episode, my mission is to support women on this midlife journey. To create a community where we can be honest and tell the world how “real” midlife can be, and how we can carve new paths for ourselves and celebrate how wonderful women are. Take off the armour piece by piece and find out who you are and who you want to be.

Why Women Feel Invisible in Midlife with Liz Hadcroft

In this week's episode I am thrilled to talk to an old friend Dr Liz Hadcroft. It feels lovely to know that we reconnected through my podcast. Liz was in touch and raised the issue of how many women feel invisible in midlife.

About Liz:

Dr Liz Hadcroft is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who has worked across the NHS and Local Authority public services and as an Expert Witness in legal proceedings for 31 years. Presently she is working with children, young people and families in adoption services in Norfolk using a developmental trauma lens. Her therapeutic practice focuses on enhancing the relationship and connection between a parent/carer to a child/young person.

Liz is a mother of two grown-up children, and now looking toward retirement and a new phase of midlife, and her what next!

In this week's podcast I talk to Nicola Wood about her experience in mid life. We talk reflection, transition and finding inner peace and how tricky it can be to make decisions that lead to this.

About Nicola:

I am a mum, wife, daughter, sister, and aunty and absolutely love animals - I live with my pooch ‘Coco’ and have 3 horses. 

I was brought up in Newcastle, relocated to Nottingham and studied at Loughborough college, with my career being in Early Years for the next 26 years. 

In 2005 I ventured into the world of being self-employed and bought my first Day Nursery in 2005 followed by a second in 2014.  I sold my company in 2022, transitioning into the role of landlord. Alongside my Early Years business, I trained as an NLP Practitioner and coach and have since worked with small teams, individuals and have a passion to support women in business and personal growth.

For now, I am enjoying some ‘time out’, with my personal goal being more about living this next chapter to its fullest (guilt free!).

Aligned Weight Loss in Midlife with Emma Bradbury

In this week's episode I am joined by Emma Bradbury, a personal development coach specialising in weight loss. Weight gain and a struggle to lose weight are themes commonly heard amongst women in mid life. So let's tackle these head on and think of a new way to approach weight loss in mid life.

About Emma:

Emma is a (nearly) 43 year old mother of two gorgeous girls and wife of a long suffering husband. She works as a personal development coach specialising in weight loss. 

After 15 years working as a multi award winning consultant for the UK's leading weight loss organisation she came to realise that weight loss isn't about what goes in your mouth, it's about what's going on in your head. Anyone can lose weight on a diet but when you stop that diet the weight goes back on. Sadly she saw it time and time again and it broke my heart every time. She knew she had to offer something different. Emma wants to help her clients identify their deeper rooted relationships with food and help them install new habits and strategies for lifelong weight loss success. She uses NLP and mBIT techniques to do this and the results she sees are phenomenal. 

She offers one to one coaching, a group program and a monthly membership, all available either face to face or on Zoom.
