Guys, we’re back, and we brought some friends! Instead of comparing two shows, we joined forces with the hosts of another Buffy podcast, Boys Watching Buffy, to review a movie starring a Gilmore Girl: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. We chat all about the sometimes cringe, yet surprisingly emotional summer adventures of Carmen, Lena, Bridget, Tibby(!?), and their shared, dirty, pair of regular-looking, yet magical pants. Whether you’ve seen this movie or not, whether you liked it or didn’t, we’re pretty sure we can all agree that one dad really sucks. Enjoy!

This week both Sasha and YoSafBridge are hiding romances and being smuggled around as contraband, having recently reappeared after doing other gigs. We're introduced to the old lovers of YoSafBridge and Talia, old taking on more than one meaning here. Michelle as well as Simon and River are brought foil-wrapped food to eat in their little rooms. Both Jayne and Boo's mom both find themselves on bedrest whether they like it or not. And we actually have since figured out what Michelle pulled out of her bra. Have you?

Two fan favorites this week with so many similar themes and specifics: like fancy old timey parties, negotiated conditions, 3rd wheels, and beer! Gilmore Girls S5 E6 "Norman Mailer, I'm Pregnant!/Buffy S5 E6 "Family"

Both Rory and Tara don't love the way their dads have handled things with their moms and decide to make it known. We learn Tara's family hasn't been super cool to women, and apparently neither has Normal Mailer. Both Buffy's dad and Sherry have fled to Europe, fully abandoning their parental duties. Buffy is suddenly very overprotective of her sister, while Rory drives 2 hours to not even say hi to hers. Rory discovers a secret society. Buffy discovers invisible demons. Stacey's VERY bothered by this year's living situations, and Bryan's got some wild ideas about what the bases are.

Buffy S5 E5 “No Place Like Home"/Gilmore Girls S5 E5 "We Got Us a Pippi Virgin"

Buffy and Emily discover that Giles and Richard own some unusually flashy garments, and the ladies do NOT approve. To keep herself safe, Emily buys a panic room, and Buffy learns that in a way, Dawn is a panic room. Spike and Zack take some time to process their new romantic feelings. Buffy meets perhaps her toughest opponent yet, but not as tough as Luke and Dean were on that Bop It. A seemingly nice, normal, Sunnydale man later needs to be strapped to a table. Maybe someone should've tried that with Luke after his mood swing. But one thing is certain: Kyle is CRUSHING it.

Gilmore Girls S5 E4 "Tippecanoe and Taylor, Too/Buffy S5 E4 "Out of My Mind"

Despite bringing some DTF blondes home, Spike and Zack are abruptly given news that romance may lie elsewhere. Spike and Jackson impulsively seize opportunities that don't work out the way they wanted. Riley's heart's beating faster than Hep Alien's new anthem, and he'll burst if he doesn't go through with a much-needed procedure. Same could be said about Dean if you put your mind in the gutter. #tinyprius #parentshouse Dean's mom is almost as triggered by seeing Rory as Joyce is by seeing she's got a whole second daughter she didn't know about. And what even is Charmed now?

Note: After releasing Episode 5.2 we learned the character of Dawn was originally written to be much younger. This episode was recorded before we learned that, so some of our jokes do not take that information into account. We will address this topic specifically at the top of our next episode.

Buffy S5 E3 “The Replacement"/Gilmore Girls S5 E3 "Written in the Stars"

Xander is on the tail of what he believes to be his evil twin, and Emily is on the case of where Richard could possibly be going at 7:30pm!? While Xander finds himself split down the middle, the people of Stars Hollow worry they're have to split down the middle if Luke and Lorelai's relationship goes south. Rory meets a man who tries to turn her on through debate. The Scoobies meet a woman who's turned on by jackets. Anya's worried about Death, meanwhile death has fully come for Asher. Rory's got a message for Dean; Harmony's got a message for Buffy: both very different, but both deliveries do result in something flying through a window. While both Rory and Dawn express their feelings through writing, both Buffy and Liz have their meditation interrupted by a sibling. Every European man seems to be randy for Emily, meanwhile Sunnydale's resident European, Giles, is randy for his new car. And though our ASP/Buffy conspiracy theory might be losing steam, there are still a ton of small similarities this week. That banana comment was just too random to be random.
