Last but not least, we'll touch on topics like night feeding, conceiving baby number two, birthing positions, whether we want more kids, rekindling your relationship after having kids, and much more.

We're here to remind you that motherhood is extremely hard and it's okay to advocate for yourself, it's okay to honor where you're at day to day, and it's okay to ask for help.

Welcome back to Brunch with Desb! Today I am so excited to share that I am officially done breastfeeding! While I thought I would be upset at not being able to make it to the 12-month mark, I'm so proud of myself for making it to the 10-month mark. Besides this, I've already noticed a shift in my mood, so for any mamas out there, this is your PSA to do what's best for your mental health because that's what will ultimately lead you to being a better mom. 

In this episode, I want to talk to you about embracing the natural. As I inch closer to my 28th birthday, I've come to realize just how tired I am of fake, whether it be fake nails, fake hair extensions, and, yes, even my fake boobs. What made me come to this realization, you ask? The one and only Martina McBride and her incredible song, "This One's for the Girls." Along with many other things, this song really made me think about how much we, as women, believe we aren't good enough. We constantly question ourselves, degrade ourselves, or even wonder why we aren't pretty or skinny enough. I hate that we are naturally inclined not to be kind to ourselves and while we may never stop comparing ourselves to one another, it's important to recognize when this is happening and to remember just how special and beautiful we all are. 

Remember, time goes by way too fast to care too much. So embrace your natural self and be appreciative of your natural beauty. Ten years from now, it won't matter if you didn't have your nails done for a couple of weeks. What will matter is the legacy you're leaving behind and that may mean shifting priorities, but that's okay. In fact, it's why I'm thinking of having my fake boobs removed. If you are looking for a nose job, breast implants, or any other cosmetic surgery that's totally okay, I'm not here to judge. Just please don't keep chasing this idea that you aren't good enough.

Welcome back to Brunch with Desb! Today, I am excited to welcome Rachel Shepard, a.k.a Hey, Sleepy Baby to the show! Rachel, a sleep specialist and mom of three, has a Bachelor's and a Masters in Elementary and Special Education, and has worked as a K-5 teacher and Education Specialist over the last 9 years. When her first baby was born in 2017, she became obsessed with his lack of sleep. Her own sleep deprivation and the outside pressure to get his sleep under control had her struggling with undiagnosed postpartum anxiety. The messages she was receiving from friends, family, coworkers, doctors, and social media made her think she was doing everything wrong. All of the pressure led her to try sleep training, which did not work out, so she surrendered and let it go. 

In this episode, Rachel will tell us what inspired her to become a sleep specialist, the sleep techniques she's used on her children, and some of the resources she offers to parents. Then, we'll dive into the idea of baby-led sleeping vs. sleep training, including:

• Contact napping and trying to get things done while baby is sleeping

• Wake windows

• Things you can do during the day that may help yours and your baby's sleep

• Whether there is a correlation between breastfeeding and your baby not wanting to sleep

• Nursing to sleep

Last but not least, we'll also touch on postpartum anxiety, including the sunset scaries, and the importance of doing your own research and doing what's best for you and your baby. Remember that you have choices!

I've been reflecting on my life recently and many of you don't know my past life of bodybuilding and competing. Yes, it's true I was IFBB Pro but I since can't look at most of those photos. Competing is by its very nature body dysmorphia and in this new season of motherhood, it's easy to want to compare my body then to mine now. Losing friends isn't a bad thing and it might be the thing you need most to grow into the person you want to become.
