Much like 2021, we say so long to another year of gaming with a list of what we've played in the last 12 months and what we're hoping to play in the next 12. Could anything dethrone Triangle Strategy as our GOTY??
Nintendo capped off 2022 with a little Indie Celebration. Was there anything in there that seems promising, or does Bill relegate it all to the dumpster? The answer might surprise you.
There are some HD-2D games coming out in 2023. Maybe there will be more secretly coming later as well. We are fully in favor of this art style, and hope it continues.
Finally, after Digital Foundry's wild Switch Pro speculation seems not to be coming true, we make up our own wild speculation with no actual evidence. We're journalists!!

As we head into the final weeks of the year, we're starting to get a better idea of what's coming NEXT year. Because you know what's more exciting than the games you already have? The games you might have later.
Square-Enix dropped some knowledge bombs on us, with information about Octopath Traveler II, Final Fantasy XVI, and Forspoken. And they of course had to do a patented Square-Enix announcement about an announcement, because they're Square-Enix and that's their go-to move.
There sure are a lot of games in the Trails series. And guess what! There's yet another one confirmed to be leaving Japan next year. All Trails, all the time baby.
Plus - why are the survivors in zombie apocalypses frequently the people who seem least likely to have survived? Should developers change the way buttons are mapped? Are in-game instructions less attention grabbing than manuals? And jarts! Remember jarts? We sure do.
And keep an ear out for Bill pulling the M. Night Shyamalan Twist of the Year.
Kirby plushies are coming showcasing the Forgotten Land, but something important is missing. We discuss what that is and try to remain optimistic.

Although let's give S-E some credit, because they did announce something about Octopath Traveler II instead of announcing that they were planning to announce it. That's a real twist, but maybe not full M. Night.
Do you want to recruit triple digits of potential squad members in your RPGs? Then this past week has got the information you're going to want. Between a new trailer for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and the announcement of a combined remaster of Suikoden I & II, there will be more heroes than you can shake a stick at. Probably. They might not like you out there shaking sticks willy-nilly.
Beyond that, there's a bunch of other RPG news to be excited about. Square-Enix is out there doing Square-Enix things, which could be good or bad. Find out which we think it is.
Plus: a deep dive into MCU Phase 4, Bill's awful opinion on Love Actually, a big soda breakdown, and a depressing realization about Wall-E.
And a shocking twist! Jackson did in fact go for a run Thursday evening. Analysts say it's possibly more shocking than the Music City Miracle.

Little G and Jackson have completed Kirby and the Forgotten Land, rescued all the Waddle Dees, and finished the post game. Quite the accomplishment for a 6-year old, while slightly less so for an adult.
To the best of our knowledge, Embracer group didn't buy anything else in the past 7 days, but that doesn't mean there were no acquisitions. FromSoftware has some new financial partners, for instance. And Amazon didn't buy EA, but that didn't stop the stock market from acting silly about the rumor.
We'll also talk about some new releases, some upcoming releases, and some of the other things we're anticipating in the more distant future. And threaten people with jaguars, because what would an episode be without wild nonsense??

Sonic Frontiers looks more and more likely to hit its Holiday 2022, but we're still too stupid to understand what makes an open-zone different from an open-world.
With Tactics Ogre: Reborn looking more and more confirmed, what about the previous Ogre games? We would like those, please.

Bill has finished all 4 of the Triangle Strategy paths, which makes sense because triangles have 4 sides. Or something. Find out what's next on his list.

TMNT: Shredder's Revenge and Cuphead are both off to strong starts. Sonic Frontiers is still too much for the average mortal to comprehend. Kurtwood Smith does not get the respect he deserves, and more.
Also: 6 year olds do not make great video game copilots, Donald Duck does not make a good battle companion, and we settle which will kill Jackson more quickly out of a Sharknado and a Spidernado.
It was a bit of a rough week in gaming news, with mostly negative things to report. Are people spending ridiculous amounts of money on mediocre games? Yup. Will we be getting GTA4 upgrades? Nope. Is there any sign of life in Sly Cooper? Nope. Everything is awful!
Also, Jackson's microphone sounds a little off this week, so we'll work on getting that taken care of for next week. Apologies!
After a week off while Jackson dealt with the effects of a little covid, the boys are back. Is a Nintendo Mini Partner Showcase as good as a real Direct? Well, no, but there were a few interesting games shown. Also, lots of things have come out in the last two weeks, and many other things have targeted releases.
Other topics include: Bill reveals the titles of his next 3 books, and they sound like they're going to be must-reads; Jackson records his audition for the next Mario movie; Bill thought of a game but then forgot it and wanted that section cut, but I left it to be a jerk.

Sea of Thieves players will be able to name their ships soon. No way that goes badly, as online game players have a history of being polite and respectful of others at all times. The Embracer Group owns over 100 development studios, but they don't own them all. Yet. They have taken another step toward a full Embracer future this past week, and I, for one, welcome our new overlords. We also lament the lack of a Seinfeld game and flex our extensive knowledge of ships!
Bill has made BvB history! Sadly, he did not have much of a chance to take advantage of it. Lots of new things that may make their way to a backlog or two are talked about this week. We also have our usual bear-based fearmongering, some strong opinions about 3D swimming in games, and ideas for a new PlayStation Plush tier. That is not a typo.
