Hannes Kläger has been with L’Oréal since 2013. As a brand business leader Hannes Kläger launched the brand NYX Professional Makeup in the Austrian market and managed the repositioning of the brand PUMA Fragrances in Germany.

In May this year he has become the Business & Change Leader for the Makeup category in the Consumer Products Division of L’Oréal in Vienna, steering the merge of the German and Austrian SBU “Makeup”. In this „makeup unit“ he signs responsible for the brands Maybeline New York, L’Oréal Paris, NYX Professional Makeup, and essie.

Hannes Kläger is a CEMS Master Graduate in Int’l Management ESADE Business School, Barcelona, and earned a Master in Management at Ivey Business School in Canada.

In this interview Vivian Berni, who has been working in the B2B sector for more than a decade, talks about B2B brands and what makes them to become strong players and sustainably competitive in the market.  In general, what differences there are in the B2B sector compared to the B2C sector in terms of branding strategies. Specifically, what the critical and meaningful factors are for a brand to be a leading brand in the pharmaceutical sector. Ultimately what B2B brands can learn from B2C brands. 

Vivian also discusses about what B2B brands can learn from the current pandemic. And what the “new normal” in the pharmaceutical supply sector is going to be.

Moreover, she gives insights about Sonoco ThermoSafe’s communication strategy, what communication channels they are using in connecting and fostering relationships with partners, e.g. pharmaceutical life science manufacturers, other stakeholders.  Especially now, during COVID and going forward post-COVID!

It is my pleasure to start my 1st BrandsTalk podcast episode this new year with Alice Schmidt who talks about sustainability in a post-COVID world and how companies can future-proof their brands.

Before diving deep into sustainability and how it impacts branding strategies, Alice Schmidt sets the term straight; she defines sustainability and what it means to her as this term is used in diverse contexts. 

She talks about her role as a Senior Global Health Adviser to the European Commission, being Chair of the Board of Endeva, her own company AS Consulting, and the current global health, sustainability, and social impact issues and challenges she is dealing with!

As COVID has recasted the relationship between organisations and people, she gives insights on how brands can deliver on the expectations of customers now have. Given the impact of COVID on the society, people deeply reflect their consumption choices and are demanding more of the businesses they buy into! Ultimately, how these will influence the way brands move forward! 

From her perspective as a sustainability expert she gives advice on brand building essentials for someone who wants to start a business and build a purpose/impact—driven brand. Furthermore, how to grow and scale such a brand globally.

Very interesting is also her advice for companies entering less developed markets, specifically engaging with the base of the pyramid.

We also addressed some companies’ practices of greenwashing and the negative consequences in every respect.

Alice Schmidt is a global advisor on sustainability and social impact. She has been engaging at the intersection of social, environmental and economic issues for more than 20 years.

In addition to advising the European Commission on Global Health and directing her own consulting firm AS Consulting, Alice Schmidt is an MIT Climate Ambassador and Chair of the Board of Endeva e.V., a not-for-profit focusing on inclusive innovation and social business. 

Besides other engagements, Alice Schmidt has been teaching courses for BA and MBA students from around the globe on Sustainable Business and Management for the Future.

Alice Schmidt is a systems thinker and never losing sight of the bigger picture.

Austria as a Destination Brand in Australia w/Kathrina Denk22 Dec 202000:25:03

Kathrina Denk has studied „Sport-, Culture- and Eventmanagement“ in Kufstein, Austria. After having conducted an internship at the Austrian National Tourist office in Sydney she has decided to stay in „down under“ and became a permanent team member. Besides digital marketing efforts and the B2B support she also manages the Austrian National Tourist back-office. Her motto is „deepen and pass on the love to Austria“.
