Ep 227: Zoroastrianism with Dragons in Genesis Podcast08 Apr 201902:12:35
We finally see who's behind the mask of Zoroastrianism! It has been teased and talked about since the beginnings of the show, but finally Flora is tackling Zoroastrianism with the help of Jason from the Dragons in Genesis Podcast! An incredibly influential ancient religion, Zoroastrianism shows up often in show topics and is one of the oldest still practiced today. However, very little about it is known to western cultures simply because it's not often talked about or explained. The prevalence in topics such as ancient aliens, mythology, demonology, and others led David to want to learn more. So he invited a like-minded friend to explore the topic! Jason from Dragons in Genesis joins to discuss a thorough overview of this fascinating religion, from its beginnings to its tenants, and many of the spirits and figures in between. This episode is a massive examination of an incredible near-east religion, tag-teamed by 2 guys who may not be experts, but surely have passion for history. So light a fire, pet the dog, and settle in for a huge historical episode of Blurry Photos! (Note: please forgive me for Jason's audio changing a bit at the end; we lasted longer than our recording software did!) Music Myst on the Moor, Danse Macabre - Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)

Ep 226: Irish Vampires and Other Celtic Monsters29 Mar 201901:01:26
More like Vampireland! Season 8 kicks off with the fine tradition of Irish folklore, as Flora takes you through some Irish vampires and other Celtic monsters! They might not be the first thing that comes to mind for the emerald isle, but Irish vampires and other Celtic monsters have a worthy pedigree in the folklore there. As the new season kicks off, David toasts to your health and celebration for a fun edition of "Slurry Photos." While Fae Folk usually take center stage, the evil Abhartach, Dearg Due, and Leannan Sidhe play supporting roles. They aren't the only dark things to beware, however, and David rolls through several fascinating entities such as Bocanagh, Fear Gorta, the Sluagh, and the Coiste Bodhar. Pour a tall, cold Guinness and sit back for a story-filled ride through Ireland's dark night on this episode of Blurry Photos! Music Myst on the Moor, Danse Macabre - Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)

Flora is joined by Toby from Secret Transmission, Zenger from Zeng This! and Derek from Monsters Among Us for a discussion and review of "Hellier," a Planet Weird documentary. Following a series of strange emails, Greg Newkirk decided to investigate the claims of a man who said he had witnessed high strangeness in a small Kentucky town. The documentary is his and his wife Dana's journey to this town to find out more and the odd occurrences they experienced. Flora and the boys give their thoughts on this series, including what they thought worked and didn't work so well for the investigation. It's a light-hearted roundtable on a compelling new series. Plenty of opinion and plenty of fun is had in this bonus episode of Blurry Photos! (Note: this roundtable is scheduled to be released by each podcast involved)

Do the stories ring true, or go belly-up? Grab your WWII uniform and theoretical physics book, Blurry Photos is ringing Die Glocke, the Nazi Bell in this episode! An alleged secret device, Die Glocke, the Nazi Bell is thought by many to have been a German WWII project which would have been "decisive for the war." Flora grabs a mallet and strikes at the research to look at all the factors in this fascinating topic. Variously described as a weapon, a time travel mechanism, anti-gravity tech, and a nuclear instrument, it has captivated researchers for years. Listen as Flora takes you through the people, places, and supposed capabilities of this historical enigma. What was the Bell? How do we know about it? And can the story be believed? Ep 274: The Devil: A History part 225 Mar 202302:31:41
David is back with the conclusion of the Devil and the history attached to him! Covering other cultures, names, looks, and breakdowns of the info, the Devil gets fleshed out and examined in great detail. We pick back up with various forms of Evil in other cultures through history. Then many of the countless names of this entity are dissected and examined, paying careful attention to the origins of each. The several iterations of looks are discussed after that. And finally the episode concludes with analysis of the research and how it has influenced cultures through the ages. What was the actual purpose of this being? How has it evolved? And what conclusions can you draw from the information? David ends with opinion based on the facts, and encourages you to take a thoughtful examination of them for yourself. It's the finish of one of the biggest episodes in Blurry Photos history, one that hopefully teaches you something new and gives you perspective you never knew you were missing! Ep 222: The Shroud of Turin part 228 Dec 201800:49:53
Turin apart at the seams... The deep dive on the Shroud of Turin continues in part 2! Skeptics of the Shroud of Turin's authenticity bring up a number of points on why it's not actually the burial sheet of Jesus. Flora takes a look at the arguments presented against the shroud's authenticity as well as questions that popped up along the way. Could this thing actually be 2,000 years old? Is it the holy relic many people think it is? Science on the dating, image formation, and theories on who made it are addressed. David also explains his thoughts and opinions on the shroud's authenticity, based on his research into this topic. Ep 222: The Shroud of Turin part 125 Dec 201800:35:10
A real man of the cloth. Flora takes a deep dive into the divisive world of the Shroud of Turin on this episode of Blurry Photos. A venerated holy object of Christianity, the Shroud of Turin is the supposed burial cloth of Jesus, and the debate on its authenticity has raged for years. David hit the books hard and came up with a lot of information to pass along. So as not to melt brains with info overload, it's all been split in twain for you. Part 1 deals with the description, history, experimentation, and pro-authenticity claims about the shroud. The upcoming part 2 will cover the anti-authenticity claims, as well as questions and thoughts Flora had along the way. Ep 221: Ghost Stories 728 Nov 201800:50:06
Don't look at the yard, don't look in the mirror, don't look at the Halloween decorations, don't look at the video tape, don't look... The end of Blurry Photober is ushered in with a chill in Blurry Photos' ghost stories 7! You'll not want for goosebumps with this handful of ghost stories about gruesome decorations, eyeless children, and stalking horrors. It'll make you think twice about looking at anything anymore! Flora reads several stories and a poem to fill out the seventh edition of the creepy tales episodes. Make sure to turn the lights out, lock the doors, and shut the curtains; the paranoia has a way of seeping in with this one! Far-fetched or not, this might give you paws. More encounters and more food for thought in part two of Dogman Tales! Creepy canids in Wisconsin plus first-hand accounts along with explanations and thoughtful commentary in this second Dogman Tales episode. Flora discusses the Beast of Bray Road and other accounts reported by Linda Godfrey. A couple calls from Dogman witnesses are played, courtesy of Derek Hayes from Monsters Among Us. A thought-provoking theory by the Crypto-kid, Colin Schneider, is examined. And a rundown of explanations of Dogman phenomena is discussed. If not some real animal, just what could they be? David has ideas and some critical thinking of the other theories as the intro to Dogman phenomena is wrapped up in this episode of Blurry Photos! Ep 220: Dogman Tales part 114 Nov 201800:35:24
Does that man look a little Husky to you? Fur real. After an interrupted Photober, Flora is back at it with the first part of a double feature on Dogman Tales! With stories of upright canids that act eerily intelligent, dogman tales have poured into the world of cryptozoology since the early 90's. While more and more reports are shared than ever before, stories of these strange, dog-headed bipeds date back much further than you might expect. David breaks down dogmen with a basic description and short history of this type of creature. Dogs feature heavily in the folkore of many cultures and the connection between them and crossroads lore is also discussed. Some encounters are covered, including one of the most famous dogman-related events that helped spark the sharing of current phenomena. Stay tuned for the next part, which will cover even more encounters and explanations! Flora begins an epic deep dive into the history of the Devil with the first of a 2-part episode! Known the world over as the arch-fiend of all that is good, the Devil enjoys a sinister reputation, but is it truly deserved? Join David on a journey through history as he presents his research on this figure of malevolence. In part 1, David begins with the earliest mentions of Satan, including cultural inspirations. Both the Old and New Testaments of the Christian Bible are referenced as well as Hebrew scriptures and apocrypha not included in the Biblical canon. Ancient mythologies of Sumer, Babylon, and Persian Zoroastrianism are explored for their evil figures. And Jason from the Dragons in Genesis podcast joins to offer perspective throughout. Part 2 will explore evil in other cultures around the world, the many names of Satan and their origins, his looks, and conclusions which can be drawn from the information. Lunatic fringe... I know you're out there! Can't get enough of that hollow stuff on earth? Why not blast off into new territory with Hollow Moon Theory? Flora welcomes Brent, John, and Joe from the Hysteria 51 podcast to discuss the hollow moon and all its empty goodness. After controlled crashes of spacecraft onto the moon's surface, NASA observed some odd seismic activity. Earth's companion satellite seemed to 'ring like a bell,' throwing a wrench in science's models at the time. This led to numerous theories, including the moon being a spaceship, an observation station, and even a hologram. This date in miss-tory... Toss the old history books in the trash and Forget what you know about the Dark Ages, the years have vanished as phantom time! A historical conspiracy centering on the early Middle Ages, phantom time is the theory that 300 years of history never actually existed. The proponents of this theory list several compelling reasons why the centuries never happened. Not even the famous European icon Charlemagne is safe in this one. A pope and two emperors are said to be the culprits behind it, and a few German researchers and scholars have seemingly caught them red-handed. How can history as we know it be wrong? What would be involved in making 300 years disappear? And is such a thing even possible? Find out in this history-laced episode! What could have happened to Miguel Viana and Manuel da Cruz in the suburb of Niteroi, Brazil? Why did they have little lead masks with them? Ep 210: The Lost Dutchman Mine19 Apr 201800:56:28
What's mine is yours. Ore not. Dust off the burro and grab some saddlebags, we're going gold hunting for the Lost Dutchman Mine! An old west legend of dangerous prospecting and fabulous wealth, the Lost Dutchman Mine has inspired gold hunters for decades and caused more casualties and heartaches than you can shake a pickaxe at. Join David as he takes you through the history of the legendary mine, including Native American lore, Spanish influence, and who the namesake of the mine, the Dutchman, was. Sift through the many tales of murder and deceit and see what shakes out. Could there be a gold mine in the Superstition Mountains that holds ore beyond belief? Flora asks some questions and sorts through the sinister stories to discuss the legend of the infamous mine and the hunt for it. Wear sunscreen and pack plenty of water, this one is coming at you hot! Ep 209: Stigmata31 Mar 201800:36:59
Showing a marked curiosity. Blurry Photos is in search of the truth behind stigmata in this episode of the podcast! A supposed phenomena where a person physically exhibits the wounds of Jesus Christ on the cross, stigmata is considered holy by some and hoaxes by others. Cases of it have been reported for centuries. Flora takes a passive observer's approach and looks at both sides of the debate. The Roman Catholic church has recognized it as a miracle, though not every case. Skeptics have found fraud in many cases. David looks at a few of the many cases and also how science has viewed it over the years, leaving you with some thoughts to consider as to its validity. Ep 207: The Mad Gasser of Mattoon05 Mar 201800:44:02
Do you smell that? Shut the windows and change your mask filters, the Mad Gasser of Mattoon is prowling the podcast! A WWII-era midwestern mystery, the Mad Gasser of Mattoon held a small town in a gaseous grip of fear for 2 weeks with no explanation and few suspects. Panic took hold as locals tried to figure out what was happening in their small Illinois community. To this day, no one knows exactly who perpetrated a series of alleged gas attacks, nor has anyone found out why. Join David as he relates not only the timeline of the 'phantom anesthetist,' but also similar attacks in different parts of the country throughout the years. Were they connected somehow or just coincidence? He also looks at what police and scientists have found, and whether or not anything has actually been explained over the years. Ep 206: Ancient Nuclear War18 Feb 201800:45:52
Nuke kids on the block Evidence faces some slim pickens as Flora fights in the war room of ancient nuclear war claims! A claim that prehistoric cultures wiped out life on the planet through ancient nuclear war has been floating around the internet and TV shows, but is it real or pseudo-history? David examines the evidence presented for the claim, including the written sources, physical indications, and cultural timelines. Did Mohenjo-Daro and other Indus Valley cities get wiped out by weapons? Was the fighting just contained to earth? What does the Mahabharata and Bible have to say about it? Join Flora for some really out-there claims and some hopefully level-headed discussion as he drops some truth bombs on this episode of Blurry Photos! Ep 205: Lost Cosmonauts01 Feb 201800:43:19
A conspiracy that leaves theorists a little Red in the face. Check your struts and chutes, Flora is blasting off straight into the heart of the lost cosmonaut conspiracy theory! A conspiracy involving soviet coverup of terrible atrocities, the lost cosmonaut theory deals with purported evidence of death after death in the race for space supremacy. Cries into the abyss, a faltering hearbeat, and airbrushed photos are just a few aspects of this theory. David delves deeply into the lore, examining audio files, photographs, and claims made by theorists. Just how bad was the loss of life? Was Yuri Gagarin really the first person in space? What can you even believe anymore? Sit back and let Flora take you on an audio odyssey to the 60s and beyond in this episode of Blurry Photos! Ep 204: John Titor16 Jan 201800:56:45
Do a show on a time travel AND Internet legend? Flori-duh! The time is nigh to learn about what your future may have in store as Flora tackles the tale of John Titor! An Internet legend 20 years in the making, the story of the time traveler John Titor is chock full of future claims, physics, and maybe something else. Who was the mysterious traveler that claimed to be from 2036, and why did he post on Internet forums in 2001? With a harrowing tale of a dark and dangerous future, his captivating claims and interesting mission through time have entranced and entertained people for years. Having no apparent motive other than to speak with the residents of his past, he remains one of the most enigmatic puzzles to come out of the early days of the Internet. While the claims were dubious, he did provide a hoard of knowledge about physics, history, and culture. Join David as he delves deeply into the story, claims, and investigations of a still-growing Internet icon. Just make sure to bring an extra canister of O2 for the ride! BullStone 32: December 201704 Jan 201801:00:30
Stecco's last hurrah Dave returns for a final BullStone before riding off into the sunset. Space talk, UFOs, and a weird humanoid photo are the topics du jour for Stecco's last official Blurry Photos (and BullStone) appearance. With the winds of disclosure blowing stronger than ever, the recent news of government UFO research is discussed. The public reception, talk of new alloys, and what it all might mean for us are looked at. Meanwhile on earth, an Argentinian photographer captures a strange humanoid shape during a shoot. Could it be some kind of entity or just a trick of the lens? The Davids discuss these and detail out some thoughts as Stecco bids farewell on this episode of BullStone! Ep 203: The Eilean Mor Lighthouse Mystery30 Dec 201700:41:28
An old school mystery with a new wave theory. The fire is out, the clocks have stopped, and dread surrounds the empty interior of the Eilean Mor Lighthouse and a mystery that has persisted for over a hundred years. A desolate, weather-beaten island west of Scotland is the setting for the Eilean Mor Lighthouse mystery, where 3 men met their fate in 1900. Problem is, no one knows how. As if vanishing into the fog, three lightkeepers were never seen again, with no indication of what happened to them. Join David as he relays the eerie story of the events at the lighthouse and uncovers the facts and fictions of the disappearance. Were sinister forces at work? Could there be a scientific explanation? And why did it take so long to discover them missing? The horn is sounded in the murky depths of the fog of mystery in this macabre episode of Blurry Photos!   Music Dark Standoff, Long Note Two, Danse Macabre, Lost Time, Past the Edge, The Dread - Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 Sources
Ep 202: Trolls17 Dec 201701:41:57
Trollin' with the homies. David and Dave brave the Scandinavian nighttime to skinny dip in the mythology of trolls! A creature of Norse folklore, the troll has morphed throughout the ages from supernatural figures to ugly giants but endures as a staple of fantasy literature. They have been around in stories since the earliest sagas and remain respected not unlike Fae folk in Ireland. But don't let the modern interpretations of the giant, gross, dim-witted bully fool you - they weren't always like that. The boys delve into the history of them and what has influenced our modern notions. Tales are a big part of the folklore, and Flora and Stecco have a few to tell! Ep 201: Colin Schneider, Cryptid Predation07 Dec 201701:34:56
Colin all cryptid lovers - you're gonna love this interview! Flora welcomes the Crypto-kid, Colin Schneider, in a fun and fascinating interview! One of the youngest cryptid researchers out there today, Colin Schneider already has impressive credentials and joins to discuss cryptid attacks on livestock. He shares his copious amount of research and findings on strange reports of unknown beasts and the theories about them. What started as a focus on vampiric creature attacks quickly ballooned into all manner of interesting monster mayhem, enough for him to start a book on the subject. The stories are captivating, kooky, and cool, and fit the crazy cryptid category charmingly. You can find more of Colin's work at his blog and radio show.
Ep 272: Ghost Stories 1129 Nov 202200:59:38
Flora is back with spooky stories in Ghost Stories 11! Featuring some meaty original tales, Ghost Stories 11 brings tense and terrifying storytelling. An annual tradition on Blurry Photos, these narrative episodes mark the end of Blurry Photober. A story about a the odd disappearance of personal belongings. A story about a ghost train. Ep 200: The Sphinx part 228 Nov 201701:50:52
If we said we liked these origin theories we'd be lion. The second half of the 200th episode is nigh and dives deep into the theories of how the Sphinx came to be. Flora and Stecco juggle some rather outlandish origin theories for how the Sphinx was built and who built it, including ties to Atlantis, aliens, and pre-history. They also examine the claim that the stars match with the placement of the monuments on the ground. Ideas from researchers and authors such as Graham Hancock, John Anthony West, Robert Schoch, Colin Reader, Paul Jordan and many more are studied and discussed. Could it be older than anyone dares to think? The geology of the area is also scrutinized, and the theories of water erosion and weathering are considered. Dating the monument is much harder than the limestone it's made of, it seems. Join the boys of Blurry Photos as they tackle the big questions and the big theories in this monumental conclusion to a monumental milestone! (All About That Hall, In Cayce You Missed It, What Subways?, Great Articles Here, Reader's Roundup)
Ep 200: The Sphinx part 120 Nov 201701:04:27
Riddled with history. The double hildo is upon us, and the Davids celebrate with a massive 2-part episode on the Sphinx! Buried in equal parts sand and questions, the Sphinx is a huge ancient monument in Egypt with a history as obscure as a corn dog in a sandstorm. In part 1, the boys describe its current state and how it has fared over the millennia. A history - as best we can piece together - is discussed, including those who have dug it out of the dunes again and again. The myth of how it's nose was lost is examined, and the various artifacts, structures, and features found around it are looked at. The big questions are saved for part 2, as are the more fantastical claims. Aliens, Atlantis, Prophecy, Astrology, and much more are, much like Horus, on the horizon. But a solid grounding in real history and archaeology are first on the menu. Get out your camels and sunscreen, the 200th is stela good time, and we ain't lion! Cheers to helping us reach 200! (A Primer, A Description, A Greek Counterpart)
Ep 199: Ghost Stories 602 Nov 201701:06:02
American Ghoulthic Blurry Photober comes to a close with another edition of ghost stories! A vampire hermit, a phone that won't stop ringing, a burning church, and a waltzing corpse are just some of the ghost stories crawling out of this open grave. David and Dave recount tales of terror that are truly terrible along with the terror that has been their health lately. Can anything prepare you for such awful tales of awfulness? Probably not, so don't even try. And stick around for a special spooky story by a certain special standup comedian. Happy Photober!
