East to West Part 1: The Hidden Meaning of Directions in the Bible - Interview with Jeff Dodson, Episode 300
Épisode 300
lundi 21 septembre 2026 • Durée 01:01:50
Why does Hebrew read from right to left—and could the directions used throughout Scripture carry meaning beyond simple geography?
Jeff Dodson returns to Bible Mysteries to join Scott for a fascinating look at the Hebrew language and the biblical significance of the cardinal directions. What began with a simple question about Hebrew being written from right to left led Jeff into a much larger study of north, south, east, and west throughout Scripture.
In Part 1, Scott and Jeff discuss the development of written language, the ancient Hebrew writing system, and how the words used for direction can reveal details that aren't always apparent in English. They examine how the Bible associates west with the sea and the setting sun, why multiple Hebrew words can convey the same direction, and how geography, language, and Scripture work together.
The conversation also raises an intriguing question: if Hebrew reads from right to left, is there significance to Scripture describing the Lord's coming from east to west?
Jeff's research ultimately led him to a remarkable conclusion—but getting there requires understanding the foundation first.
In this episode:
Why Hebrew is written and read from right to left
How ancient writing systems developed over time
The surprising boustrophedon style of writing
How Hebrew words developed and retained their root meanings
The biblical significance of north, south, and west
Why the Mediterranean Sea can represent west in Hebrew
The connection between west and the setting sun
How translation can obscure Hebrew wordplay and directional meaning
Why the cardinal directions may carry more significance in Scripture than we realize
The question that started the study: Could east-to-west point Israel toward Messiah?
Part 1 lays the groundwork. In Part 2, Scott and Jeff turn their attention to the east, the east wind, and the prophetic question at the heart of this study: why does Scripture repeatedly draw our attention toward the east?
Guest: Jeff Dodson

Departing From the Faith: The Religious Deception Paul Warned About
dimanche 20 septembre 2026 • Durée 45:21
What does it really mean to depart from the faith? Paul warned that in the latter times some would depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. But his warning may not mean what many assume.
Departing from the faith is not necessarily an open rejection of Jesus Christ or a turn toward atheism. Scripture reveals a far more subtil deception—one that can appear religious, righteous, and even Christian while replacing salvation by grace through faith with law, works, traditions, and religious requirements.
In this Bible study, Scott Mitchell traces Paul’s warning from 1 Timothy through Acts, Galatians, Romans, 2 Corinthians, and Colossians. He examines the conflict that arose in the early church when false brethren sought to bring Gentile believers under circumcision and the Law of Moses, why Paul fiercely defended the liberty believers have in Christ, and how religious bondage can undermine the sufficiency of Christ’s finished work.
What began in the first century continues today. When religious systems add works, ordinances, rituals, or human requirements to salvation, are they leading people toward greater righteousness—or away from the faith Paul preached?
Key takeaway: Salvation rests entirely upon the shed blood and finished work of Jesus Christ. Believers are called to hold fast to the truth of the gospel and refuse the religious bondage of adding human works to what Christ has already accomplished.
The Mystery of Amalek: Esau, Edom, and Israel’s Ancient Enemy - Episode 299
Épisode 299
lundi 14 septembre 2026 • Durée 57:09
Who was Amalek, and why did God declare that He would have war with Amalek “from generation to generation”? More importantly, does Scripture support identifying Israel’s modern enemies as Amalek today?
Amalek was not simply a symbolic enemy of Israel. Scripture identifies him as a descendant of Esau through Eliphaz, connecting the Amalekites directly to Edom. From their attack on Israel after the Exodus to God’s command that their remembrance be blotted out, the history of Amalek reveals an ancient conflict with important prophetic and spiritual implications.
In this episode, Scott and John trace Amalek through Exodus, Deuteronomy, Judges, Samuel, and Chronicles, examining why God pronounced judgment against the Amalekites and what eventually became of them. They also consider the modern use of “Amalek” to describe Hamas and other enemies of Israel and ask whether such an application is actually supported by Scripture.
The discussion also addresses an important distinction between genealogical identity, ancient geography, and spiritual type. Can an Old Testament command given to Israel concerning a specific people be applied to nations today? And how should Christians understand these passages in light of the present age of grace, when God desires all men to be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth?
What you’ll hear in this episode:
Amalek’s descent from Esau and connection to Edom
Why Amalek attacked Israel after the Exodus
Why God commanded Israel to blot out Amalek
Saul’s disobedience and the judgment of the Amalekites
What Scripture says happened to the remaining Amalekites
Whether modern nations can legitimately be identified as Amalek
The difference between genealogy, geography, and spiritual type
Why Jesus Christ must remain central when considering Israel and God’s covenant promises
A Generation of Vipers: Serpent Seed or Spiritual Rebellion? - Episode 298
Épisode 298
lundi 7 septembre 2026 • Durée 01:02:25
Why did both John the Baptist and Jesus call certain people a “generation of vipers”? Was this simply a harsh figure of speech, a reference to a literal serpent bloodline, or was Christ revealing something deeper about their spiritual allegiance?
In this episode of Bible Mysteries, Scott and John examine the biblical meaning behind the generation of vipers, beginning with the Pharisees and Sadducees and tracing the pattern through Scripture. While some have connected the phrase to serpent genetics, Scott considers what the passages themselves emphasize: unbelief, corrupt words, evil fruit, and spiritual identification with the father of lies.
From Israel’s “evil generation” that refused to enter the Promised Land to Cain’s religious rebellion, a consistent pattern emerges. Cain was not irreligious—he brought an offering to God. But he approached God on his own terms rather than according to what God required. That same religious spirit appears again in the Pharisees, whom Jesus outwardly identified as righteous-looking men whose fruit revealed something very different.
The discussion also connects the generation of vipers to the tares among the wheat, the children of the wicked one, and the corrupt trees described throughout Scripture. Jesus said a tree is known by its fruit, and He repeatedly pointed to words as evidence of what was in the heart.
Scott and John also consider the days of Noah, the Nephilim, and the possibility of genetic corruption in the last days. Could the mark of the beast involve something similar? Scripture leaves room for important questions, but this episode draws a careful distinction between biblical evidence and speculation.
The central warning is sobering: false religion does not always look evil. It can appear righteous, speak religious language, and exist among true believers. Yet its words and fruit eventually reveal its allegiance.

Grafted Into What? What Romans 11 Really Teaches About Israel and the Gentiles
dimanche 6 septembre 2026 • Durée 31:51
What does Paul mean when he says Gentiles were grafted into the olive tree in Romans 11? Are Gentile believers grafted into Israel? Have they become “spiritual Jews”? Or does the olive tree represent the Church?
Romans 11 has been used to support covenant theology, replacement theology, Zionism, and conflicting views concerning Israel and the Church. But rather than beginning with a theological system, Scott compares Scripture with Scripture to examine what Paul actually says about the natural branches, the wild olive branches, and the root and fatness of the olive tree.
Beginning with Paul’s warning to Gentiles in Romans 11 and tracing the olive tree imagery back to Jeremiah, this study examines the biblical connection between Israel, Abraham, the Holy Spirit, and the promises of God. Paul makes an important distinction: Gentiles do not become Israel. They are made “partakers of their spiritual things” and “partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel.”
The blessing of Abraham comes to Gentiles through Jesus Christ. He is the promised Seed, and it is through His blood that those who were once far off are made nigh.
This study also considers Israel’s future restoration, why the natural branches were broken off, and what Paul means when he declares that “all Israel shall be saved.”
Scriptures Referenced
Romans 11:13–27; Jeremiah 11:9–17; Judges 9:8–13; Exodus 27:20; Exodus 30:22–25; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:11–29; Romans 15:27; Ephesians 2:11–22; Ephesians 3:6; Isaiah 59:20–21
In This Study
What the olive tree in Romans 11 represents
Why unbelieving natural branches were broken off
Whether Gentiles are grafted into Israel
Why the olive tree cannot represent the Body of Christ
The difference between being grafted in and being baptized into Christ
What it means to be a partaker of Israel’s spiritual things
The blessing of Abraham and the promised Seed
Why being Abraham’s seed does not make a Gentile a “spiritual Jew”
Israel’s blindness and future restoration
Why both Jew and Gentile must come to God through Jesus Christ
The root of the blessing is not found in national identity. The promises and spiritual blessings ultimately point to Jesus Christ, the Seed of Abraham. Whether Jew or Gentile, salvation is found in Him.

Mystery Mailbag #22 | Adam & Eve, the Seal of God, AI & the Mark of the Beast
jeudi 3 septembre 2026 • Durée 15:25
In Mystery Mailbag #22, Scott Mitchell answers another round of listener questions covering biblical history, prophecy, spiritual warfare, and the reliability of God's Word.
Could the genealogical ages recorded after Noah contain a scribal error—or does the changing world after the Flood explain the dramatic decline in human lifespans? Scott addresses the claim and explains why Scripture, rather than proposed historical chronologies, must remain the final authority.
Other questions take us back to the opening chapters of Genesis. How long were Adam and Eve in the Garden before the serpent tempted them? How much time passed before they had children? And should Peter's statement that "one day is with the Lord as a thousand years" be applied to the days of creation?
Scott also considers the seal of God in Revelation and whether it applies only to the 144,000 or to other believers during the Tribulation. From there, the discussion turns to one of the great prophetic questions of the last days: Could modern technology and AI play a role in the abomination of desolation and the mark of the beast?
Plus, Scott responds to a listener asking for prayer, answers a question about Bible Mysteries books and merchandise, and shares an update about an upcoming book from Ryan Pitterson.
Questions in Mystery Mailbag #22
Is there an error in the biblical genealogy after Noah?
What caused human lifespans to decline after the Flood?
How long were Adam and Eve in the Garden before the Fall?
When did Adam and Eve begin having children?
Were the six days of creation literal days?
Is the seal of God limited to the 144,000?
Could the mark of the beast alter humanity?
Could AI and human-integrated technology be connected to end-times prophecy?
Is the abomination of desolation the same thing as the mark of the beast?
Does Bible Mysteries have books or a merchandise shop?

Frequencies of Creation: Sound, Light, Energy and the Spiritual Realm - Episode 297
Épisode 297
mardi 1 septembre 2026 • Durée 58:45
What if the physical laws modern science describes as frequencies are simply discoveries of an ordered creation God established from the beginning?
In this episode of Bible Mysteries, Scott and John examine sound, light, energy, and information through the lens of Scripture. Genesis records that God spoke and creation responded. Psalm 33 declares, “For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.” The question is not whether frequency is the source of God’s power—God is the source of all power—but whether the laws we now observe may give us a glimpse into how His creation operates.
The discussion begins with the spoken Word of God and leads directly to Jesus Christ, the eternal Word through whom all things were created. From there, we consider music in the heavenly realm, the biblical imagery of light and darkness, the vast portion of the physical universe that lies beyond human sight and hearing, and Elisha’s servant whose eyes were opened to see what had been there all along.
The episode also examines Satan as the prince of the power of the air and his pattern of corrupting truth through words and information. From the serpent’s first question, “Yea, hath God said?” deception has sought to distort the Word of God and turn mankind away from the Truth.
We cannot know every mechanism God uses within His creation, nor does Scripture tell us that the spiritual realm is simply another frequency waiting to be discovered. What Scripture does reveal is far more important: Jesus Christ created all things, visible and invisible, and by Him all things consist.
Key Scriptures: Genesis 1:1–5; Psalm 33:1–9; Job 38:4–7; Ezekiel 28:13; Hebrews 11:3; John 1:1–14; Colossians 1:13–17; Colossians 2:12; 2 Kings 6:15–17; Matthew 8:23–27; Ephesians 2:1–3; Genesis 3:1–5; John 8:42–45; John 14:6.

Jehovah or Yahweh? What Is the True Name of God?
dimanche 30 août 2026 • Durée 33:07
Is God’s name Jehovah or Yahweh? While Yahweh has become widely accepted among modern scholars and many believers, is that pronunciation actually supported by Scripture?
In this Bible study, Scott Mitchell examines the tetragrammaton, the Hebrew name of God, and the claim that ancient Hebrew was originally written without vowel markings. If the vowels were added centuries later, how was the pronunciation of God’s Word preserved—and why did Jesus specifically refer to the “jot” and “tittle” of the written law?
Using the King James Bible, Scott considers the biblical evidence for Jehovah, the tradition that led to the divine name being considered too holy to speak, and the repeated promises that God would preserve His Word. The study also traces the pattern first seen in Genesis 3: “Yea, hath God said?”—questioning God's Word before ultimately changing what He said.
The lesson concludes with the connection between Jehovah, Jesus Christ, and the Redeemer of Israel. Jesus is the Word made flesh, the Creator of all things, the first and the last, and the One through whom salvation comes.

Five Dreams of Joseph: Prophetic Signs of Christ and Israel - Episode 296
Épisode 296
lundi 24 août 2026 • Durée 01:11:10
What do the dreams surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ have to do with Joseph in Genesis, Egypt, Israel, and the last days?
In this episode of Bible Mysteries Podcast, Scott and John examine a remarkable prophetic pattern involving two men named Joseph. Joseph, the son of Jacob, was known as a dreamer and was taken into Egypt. Centuries later, Joseph, the husband of Mary—also the son of a man named Jacob—received dreams from God that protected the Christ child and ultimately led his family into and back out of Egypt.
The connections extend beyond Christ’s birth. The sun, moon, and stars of Joseph’s dream appear again in Revelation 12, where the woman, the man child, and the dragon point toward Israel, Jesus Christ, and the future time of Jacob’s trouble. Herod’s attempt to destroy the young Christ also presents a striking type of the dragon’s persecution of the believing remnant.
Scott also considers Isaiah’s prophecy that a nation will be “born at once.” Does Isaiah 66 describe the establishment of modern Israel in 1948, or does the context place this event during Israel’s future travail and the return of Christ?
Finally, the last dream leads Joseph to Nazareth and another prophetic connection: the Hebrew word netser, translated Branch in Isaiah 11. Could Matthew’s statement that Jesus “shall be called a Nazarene” point to Christ as the promised Branch from the line of David?
Follow the pattern from Joseph to Egypt, from Egypt to Christ, and from Christ to Israel’s final restoration when the righteous Branch returns to reign.
Key Scriptures: Genesis 37:5–11; Matthew 1:16–25; Matthew 2:1–23; Hosea 11:1; Isaiah 11:1–5; Isaiah 60:14–22; Isaiah 66:7–16; Jeremiah 23:5–8; Revelation 12

Deceived: Why Believers Must Learn Discernment
dimanche 23 août 2026 • Durée 26:23
False teaching does not always look false. Scripture warns that false prophets can appear as sheep, false apostles can present themselves as ministers of Christ, and Satan himself can be transformed into an angel of light. So how can believers recognize truth from deception?
In this Bible study, Scott Mitchell examines the biblical command to use spiritual discernment in a time when countless voices compete for our attention. Social media has made it easier than ever to encounter persuasive teachers, conflicting doctrines, and spiritual claims—but popularity, sincerity, and convincing words are not tests of truth.
Using the Bereans as an example, Scott shows why believers must search the Scriptures for themselves rather than simply accepting what a preacher, teacher, or online personality says. Biblical discernment requires study, rightly dividing the Word of truth, comparing Scripture with Scripture, and allowing the Holy Ghost to teach us.
Spiritual maturity matters. Paul warns against remaining as children who are "tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine." The answer to increasing deception is not fear—it is growing in our knowledge of God's Word so we can recognize error when we encounter it.
In this study:
Why Scripture tells us to "try the spirits"
How false teachers can appear righteous
Why good words and fair speeches can deceive the unsuspecting
What the Bereans teach us about testing doctrine
Why believers must compare Scripture with Scripture
The importance of rightly dividing the Word of truth
The Holy Ghost's role in teaching spiritual truth
Why discernment develops through spiritual maturity
How to avoid being carried about by every wind of doctrine
Why it is time for believers to grow up in the faith
The question is not simply whether something sounds biblical. The question is whether it stands when tested against the Word of God.

Key Questions
Why did Jesus and John the Baptist use the phrase “generation of vipers”? Does being “of your father the devil” imply a genetic connection to the serpent? What does Scripture mean when it calls people an evil generation? How do words and fruit expose spiritual allegiance? What connects Cain, the Pharisees, false brethren, and the tares among the wheat? And could the days of Noah provide a picture of conditions that will return in the last days?
The generation of vipers is ultimately presented as a religious generation that rejects Christ, corrupts the Word of God, walks in the way of Cain, and follows the pattern of the father of lies. The tree is known by its fruit.

Bible Mysteries is an educational ministry podcast exposing the ancient spiritual battle in the modern world. We seek to reveal the secrets in the Scriptures that current satanic world systems are trying to suppress. Join us each week as we discuss things in the Bible the world doesn’t want you to know.
