| What Is the Real Business Model Behind AI? Ft. Vivek Raghan, Co-Founder Sarvam AI | 29 Sep 2026 | 00:27:27 | |
AI is getting better. AI models are getting more capable. And yet, in many cases, the cost of using AI keeps falling.
So… who is actually paying for all of this?
In this conversation, Roshan Cariappa sits down with Vivek Raghavan, Co-founder of Sarvam AI, to unpack one of the biggest questions around the AI boom: what is the real business model behind AI?
We talk about why companies can spend billions building AI and still offer powerful models to users at little or no upfront cost. What exactly are we giving up when we use “free” AI? And if India is among the world's biggest users of AI, are we simply exporting our data and importing intelligence?
The conversation then goes much deeper.
Vivek explains how large language models actually work, why training frontier AI is so expensive, and why rapidly improving GPUs and smaller, specialised models could make advanced AI dramatically cheaper to build.
We also discuss India's AI strategy, sovereign AI, China’s approach to technology, the growing geopolitical importance of AI, and whether India can build foundational AI capabilities of its own.
And perhaps most importantly: has India actually missed the AI bus—or is the economics of AI changing fast enough for India to catch up?

| If God is Formless, Why Do Hindus Worship So many Idols? Ft. Ami Ganatra | 18 Sep 2026 | 00:30:09 | |
Who is a Hindu? And what does it really mean to be one?
Many of us grew up calling ourselves Hindu, but the deeper we look, the more questions emerge. Is Hinduism a religion or a way of life? How did the gods and deities we worship today evolve? And what ideas hold together such a diverse philosophical tradition?
In this conversation, Roshan Cariappa sits down with author Ami to explore the foundations of the Hindu worldview — from karma, rebirth and moksha to dharma, the cosmic order, questioning, pluralism and the evolution of Hindu deities.
The conversation also looks at how Vedic gods evolved over time, why personal forms of the divine became important, and what makes the Hindu worldview inherently plural and comfortable with different schools of thought.
This is a shorter version of the full conversation, bringing together some of the key questions and ideas from the original episode.

| How Much of "Made in India" Defence Is Actually Indian? | 12 Sep 2026 | 00:27:24 | |
India wants to become a defence superpower. But how can that happen when we still depend heavily on foreign technology, engines, sensors and weapons?
In this conversation, Roshan Cariappa sits down with Vivek Krishnan, CEO & Co-Founder of SSS Defence, and Dinesh Shivanna, Co-Founder & CTO of SSS Defence, to unpack one of India's biggest strategic challenges: building a genuinely self-reliant defence industry.
Why does India still import so much of its military equipment? Why have we struggled to build indigenous engines? Why isn't simply having more defence startups enough? And what has the Indian Navy done differently when it comes to building capability?
Vivek and Dinesh argue that becoming Atmanirbhar in defence requires much more than assembling imported components. India needs long-term investment in R&D, engineering talent, domestic supply chains, sensors, engines and manufacturing capability — even if some of those bets fail.
This is a blunt conversation about what it will actually take to build India's military-industrial complex.

| If RSS Is So Powerful, Why Doesn't It Take Power? The Reign Behind Indian Politics | Sachin Nandha | 01 Sep 2026 | 00:28:34 | |
The RSS does not contest elections. So where does its influence over Indian politics and society actually come from?
In this focused Bharatvaarta conversation, Roshan Cariappa speaks with Sachin Nandha about the organisation, ideology and structure of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) - and its relationship with the BJP, Narendra Modi and the larger Sangh Parivar.
What makes the RSS so influential despite not being a political party? Why does the organisation place such importance on the shakha? Is the BJP an instrument of the RSS, or does it operate independently? And how should we understand the relationship between the RSS, the BJP and the Indian state?
Sachin Nandha offers a different framework for looking at these questions - from the distinction between the Rashtra and the Rajya to the way the RSS's influence extends beyond electoral politics.

| "Who Is Funding This?" Mohandas Pai On NGOs, Foreign Money, Religious Conversions & Indian Politics | 21 Aug 2026 | 00:22:50 | |
A closer look at one of the sharpest threads from our full conversation with Mohandas Pai.
The complete episode - covering the Gen Z protests, the NEET crisis and India's youth unemployment story, along with everything below - is live here: https://youtu.be/hG48jHX7xks
This cut focuses on the politics underneath it all: foreign funding, the Congress's search for direction, and what's actually broken in how India is governed.
Pai opens with a hard line on foreign money in Indian civil society: no foreign funds for advocacy, no foreign funds for politics, and no exceptions for NGOs who want to influence Indian public life without raising money from Indians first. He questions the funding and online amplification behind recent protest movements, and argues India's FCRA framework - tightened originally under Indira Gandhi - exists precisely to prevent outside actors from shaping domestic politics and religious life.
From there, the conversation turns to the Congress party's decline, with Pai arguing the party has failed to offer a real alternative to the government's delivery on basic needs - water, power, bank accounts, gas connections - and that without a clear agenda beyond cash guarantees, its Karnataka government under Siddaramaiah has little to show after three years. He makes the case for job creation over subsidies, using Karnataka's own numbers on jobs needed versus jobs delivered, and points to Bengaluru's recent civic turnaround as proof that leadership and accountability - not bigger budgets - are what change outcomes on the ground.
The conversation closes on India's justice system: why the country has a fraction of the judges per capita that other democracies do, why delays in prosecuting corruption cases erode public trust, and what accountability would actually require.
If you want the full context - including the NEET and jobs conversation that precedes this - the complete episode is linked above.

| Mohandas Pai on NEET Protests, Education Reforms, Reservations and India's Future | Bharatvaarta | 15 Aug 2026 | 01:09:21 | |
22 lakh students wrote NEET this year. There were about 1.35 lakh seats.
That gap is where the protests came from — but Mohandas Pai's argument is that NEET was only the trigger. The real story is a generation that did everything it was told to do, and found nothing waiting on the other side.
In this conversation, the former Infosys CFO lays out why the anger erupted in the Hindi belt and not the South, why a student clearing 80% watches a 45% score take the seat, what medical education actually costs once you strip out the policy distortions, and why he believes reservation must continue — but cannot keep serving the same families for three generations.
Then he turns to the fix. A jobs incentive across the 400 poorest districts. Five thousand census towns built out so industry has somewhere to go. Why he thinks "India lives in her villages" is one of the most expensive ideas in Indian politics. Why AI will create more jobs here than anywhere else on earth. And a blunt account of what he thinks the political class, the bureaucracy and the courts are getting wrong.
Sharp, specific, and backed by numbers throughout. Watch to the end.

| How India Is Ending Naxal Terror | The Untold Strategy Behind the Final Crackdown FT. Tuhin Sinha | 31 Jul 2026 | 00:26:57 | |
Every nation has a story, but some chapters are written in blood. For decades, India fought an enemy that didn't wear a uniform - an ideology that spread through forests, cities and silence, in one of the longest internal-security battles in the country's history. Roshan Cariappa sits down with Tuhin A. Sinha - BJP National Spokesperson, author of 14 books, and now the writer of a comprehensive new book "Naxal Terror Vanquished: The Long War against Maoism, and the Doctrine That Ended It." This book discusses how India confronted and pushed back Naxal terror.
We've had Tuhin on the show before - last time, to talk delimitation, the women's reservation bill and the coalition arithmetic of the Monsoon Session. This time the conversation turns to something bigger and bloodier. His starting point is a memory gap: Gen Z and Gen Alpha never saw this threat at its peak, and the country readjusted so fast that few remember how bad it got. In 2010 alone, over a thousand people were killed in Naxal violence - 74 CRPF jawans ambushed at Dantewada, and the Gyaneshwari Express sabotaged in West Bengal, killing 150. This, he argues, was never a "socio-economic problem" - it was an out-and-out terror movement.
From there the conversation traces the full arc: the origins in Naxalbari in 1967, the role of "urban Naxals" in supplying funds and arms, the Salwa Judum movement and the price its leaders paid, and the turnaround that followed - the convergence of security agencies across a seven-state Red Corridor, the surrender-and-rehabilitation policy, Operation Kagar's final push, and the development story behind it. Tuhin's central claim is a bold one: that Naxalism has been pushed to the brink of extinction.

| Who's Actually Blocking Young Indians From Politics? | BJP National Spokesperson | Bharatvaarta | 24 Jul 2026 | 00:42:21 | |
1985: Rajiv Gandhi says 15 paise of every rupee actually reaches the poor.
2009: Rahul Gandhi puts the number at 5%.
Twenty-four years apart, same party, and by their own accounting the leak had got worse.
That pair of numbers is where this conversation lands in its final minutes, and Tuhin A. Sinha uses it to make a much larger argument: that the question of who is anti-youth in Indian politics has a fairly specific answer, and it isn't the one the Opposition has been giving.
Roshan Cariappa sits down with Tuhin - BJP National Spokesperson and author of 14 books - days before a Monsoon Session that Tuhin calls the most consequential in a very long time. Two bills are on the table: delimitation and women's reservation.
His case for why delimitation is the youth story nobody is telling: the last exercise was in 1975. India now has roughly 97 crore voters and 543 Lok Sabha seats, which means each MP represents about 17 lakh people - the highest ratio anywhere in the world. Raise the seat count by 50% and that falls to around 11 lakh. But the number Tuhin cares about is the other one: hundreds of new constituencies means hundreds of openings for people who do not come from political families. Which is precisely, he argues, why the dynastic parties are petrified of it.
Roshan also asks the question currently nation wants to know - the mistrust around engineered defections, the ED and CBI asymmetry, the "washing machine" charge, whether the BJP can still call itself a party with a difference while absorbing MPs it once called corrupt, and whether all of this is legal in letter but hollow in spirit. Tuhin's answers are direct, and on the corruption question notably unsqueamish: sometimes to achieve a good objective, you take a path that isn't impeccable.
Also in here: why the two bills are deliberately being moved together, how 74 women MPs could become 273 seats, why the April bill fell 54 votes short, Amit Shah's one-hour challenge across the floor of the House, the North-South penalty argument, Vajpayee's 1996 resignation speech, and what 2029 actually gets fought on.
Whether you find him persuasive or want to argue with every second answer, it's a sharper 41 minutes than a TV panel gives you in a month.

| Professional Politicians Are The Most Dangerous People | Bhaskar Rao - On Bengaluru collapse | 17 Jul 2026 | 00:53:15 | |
Why did Bengaluru - a city that could have been India's New York, Chicago or Tokyo - collapse into traffic, flooding, garbage, water shortage and "work in progress" chaos? Former Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao (IPS) sits down with Bharatvaarta for an unflinching conversation on urban governance, the broken BBMP-mayor system, police reforms, corruption, and the political rot he calls the single most dangerous force in the country.
From the Bengaluru of the 1970s to today's civic breakdown, Bhaskar Rao explains WHO actually runs Bengaluru (and why nobody is accountable), why the mayor is treated "like a beggar," how weak Chief Ministers and professional politicians hollowed out the city, why India's laws punish a pickpocket harder than a killer on the road, and what real police reform in India would look like. He also shares extraordinary stories from the COVID frontline, the CAA protests, and a policing career that ran from Kosovo to Karnataka.
This is essential viewing for anyone who cares about Bengaluru, urban India, governance, and the future of policing.

| “India Needs A New Constitution” | Prof. Gautam Desiraju | 20 Jun 2026 | 01:27:47 | |
One Indian’s vote is worth 2.5 times another Indian’s vote.
According to Professor Gautam Desiraju, that single fact reveals a deep flaw in Indian democracy—and fixing it could require redrawing the map of India itself.
Most Indians have never heard the word delimitation. Yet Professor Desiraju argues it may be the most important political issue India will face in the coming decade.
He believes India should not have 28 states, but closer to 75. He argues that every vote must carry equal value. He questions whether the Constitution should be treated as a sacred document. And he makes the case for reforms that could fundamentally reshape how India is governed.
Professor Gautam Desiraju is one of India’s most distinguished scientists and a recipient of the Ewald Prize, often called the Nobel Prize of Crystallography. In recent years, however, he has turned his attention to a different question:
How should India govern itself in the 21st century?
In this conversation with Roshan Cariappa on Bharatvaarta, Professor Desiraju explains why delimitation, state reorganization, constitutional reform, representation, and governance are all interconnected—and why India may need to rethink some of its deepest political assumptions.
This is a conversation about democracy, federalism, representation, and the future of Bharat.

| Why He Walked Away From Microsoft To Build India's AI | Rishi Bal, BharatGen CEO | 05 Jun 2026 | 00:48:14 | |
Most Indians, when they get a job at Microsoft in Seattle, never look back.
Rishi Bal did look back.
He left a comfortable engineering career in the US — at one of the world's most valuable tech companies — and came home to build something India doesn't yet have: its own AI.
Today, Rishi is the CEO of BharatGen — India's first government-funded sovereign AI initiative, anchored at IIT Bombay, supported by the Department of Science & Technology. Under his leadership, the team has just released Param 2 — a 17 billion parameter foundation model, built "from first byte to final model," entirely in India, across 22 Indian languages.
This is a Swades story. For the AI age.
In this conversation with Roshan Cariappa on Bharatvaarta, Rishi unpacks why sovereign AI isn't a buzzword — it's the difference between India having control over its own digital future, or being shut off by a foreign company tomorrow.

| A Former Ambassador Reveals What Happens Inside India's Toughest Global Negotiations | Mohan Kumar | 29 May 2026 | 01:03:38 | |
The post-WW2 world order is dead. The UN doesn't work. The WTO can't function. Multilateralism has collapsed. And the world is now in a dangerous "interregnum" — a period of fragmentation, conflict, and competing alliances where every country is fighting to shape what comes next.
So what does this mean for India?
In this conversation with Roshan Cariappa, Ambassador Dr. Mohan Kumar — Former Indian Ambassador to France and Bahrain, India's lead negotiator at the WTO/GATT for nearly a decade, Professor of Diplomatic Practice at OP Jindal Global University, and Chairman of RIS — takes us inside the rooms where India's biggest global negotiations actually happen.

| "India Has 25 Years To Grow Rich Before It Grows Old " — Neelkanth Mishra, EAC-PM | Bharatvaarta | 22 May 2026 | 01:17:42 | |
India has 20–25 years. After that, the demographic window closes.
That is the central claim of this conversation. India is racing to do in 50–60 years what the West did in 150–200. To grow rich before it grows old. To become a developed economy while still a democracy — something almost no large country has ever managed.
In this Bharatvaarta conversation, Roshan Cariappa sits down with Neelkanth Mishra — Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, Chief Economist at Axis Bank, and one of India's most respected voices on the economy — to ask the question that very few people are asking honestly:
Can India actually pull this off?
Neelkanth walks us through the real economics of India's next 25 years. The petrol-dollar problem. Why India's inequality is rising — and why that is not the same as repression. Why most countries that grew rich first were not democracies. Why the next leg of India's growth must happen at the state and district level, not at the Centre. Why cities matter more than anyone admits. Why fixing education and healthcare is politically thankless but economically essential.
This isn't political commentary. It's an economist's view of what's at stake.
We discuss:
- Why the Prime Minister's recent remarks on petrol, diesel and foreign travel matter more than they sound
- The "grow rich before growing old" framework — and how much time India actually has
- Why most countries that got rich first were autocracies — and what that means for democratic India
- The land–labour–capital–entrepreneurship lens, and which two are stuck
- Why states (not the Centre) hold the keys to India's next leg of growth
- The "optimal crisis" theory — why nations don't reform without one
- Why inequality is rising, and when it becomes dangerous
- Funding cities, urbanisation, and the silent reform India keeps postponing

| 🤯How PM Modi Won, Deepfake Politics & India's AI Race 🚨| Shashi Shekhar Vempati | 16 May 2026 | 01:21:25 | |
This is about How BJP Pulled Off The Biggest Political Comeback Of Our Generation!
Behind the historic BJP victory wasn't just a charismatic leader — it was a small group of professionals who quietly built India's first real digital election machine. Shashi Shekhar Vempati was one of them.
A decade later, he became the first non-bureaucrat CEO of Prasar Bharati, took on India's biggest media reform challenge, and is now one of the most important voices on India's AI future — co-founding AI4India and recently appointed Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
This isn't a political conversation. It's a conversation about power — how it's won, how it's lost, and what it'll take for India to hold its own in the next decade.
In this conversation with Roshan Cariappa on Bharatvaarta, Shashi takes us inside the digital war room that helped propel PM Modi to power in 2014 —We cover:
- How a small group of techies helped BJP win 2014
- Why digital became the new battleground for elections
- The dark side of social media — deepfakes, algorithms, influence operations
- Why India has no BBC or Al-Jazeera equivalent
- The "lost decade" inside Indian bureaucracy (2004-2014)
- Why we don't have an Indian ChatGPT (yet)
- AI for India: language, voice, sovereignty

| Story of Maharani Tarabai - Maratha Queen who Defeated Aurangzeb | Medha Bhaskaran | 08 Apr 2026 | 01:04:05 | |
After the execution of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the Maratha Empire stood on the brink of collapse.
Leadership was uncertain. The Mughals were advancing. And the idea of Swaraj seemed close to fading.
But history didn’t unfold the way it was expected to.
In this conversation, Medha Bhaskaran — author of Queen Tara: Kali of the Deccan — joins Bharatvaarta to trace the rise of Maharani Tarabai, a leader who emerged from the margins of power to take charge in one of the most critical moments in Indian history.
We explore how Tarabai, initially far removed from succession, became a “destiny queen” — shaped not by circumstance alone, but by training, political exposure, and conviction. From her unconventional upbringing to her early understanding of power, the episode examines how her leadership was forged long before she formally took control.
The conversation moves through the chaos following Sambhaji Maharaj’s death — the fragmentation of authority, the pressure of Mughal expansion, and the difficult decisions that defined this phase. It highlights how survival itself became strategy, and how resistance was sustained not through brute force alone, but through adaptability and intelligence.
We also unpack the nature of warfare in this period — from guerrilla tactics and disruption of supply lines to psychological warfare and misinformation — and how these methods allowed a smaller force to withstand a far larger empire.
At its core, this episode is not just about a historical figure.
It’s about leadership under uncertainty, the role of women in moments of crisis, and how power can emerge from the most unexpected places.
And above all, it is the story of a ruler who refused to let a collapsing moment define the future of a civilisation.

| Why Hindus Don't Have One God And More | Ami Ganatra | 29 Mar 2026 | 01:19:25 | |
India’s civilisational identity is often taken for granted — but few questions are as fundamental, and as complex, as this one:
Who are we as Hindus?
In this wide-ranging conversation, Ami Ganatra joins Bharatvaarta to explore the philosophical foundations of Hindu thought — from identity and Dharma to the evolution of gods, rituals, and ways of thinking that have shaped this civilisation over thousands of years.
We unpack why Hindu thought has no single founder or fixed doctrine, how it accommodates multiple ways of seeing the world, and why questioning has always been central to its growth. The discussion explores ideas like karma, rebirth, and a formless ultimate reality expressed through many forms.
The conversation moves through deeper questions — how ancient people understood nature and divinity, why Vedic gods like Indra and Agni lost primacy over time, and how practices evolved from rituals to philosophy to lived experience.
It also examines the absence of blasphemy, the idea of multiple truths, and why this way of thinking has remained dynamic rather than rigid.
This episode isn’t about religion in the conventional sense.
It’s about a way of thinking — one that has adapted, questioned, and endured.

| The Empire That Almost Ruled India | Uday S. Kulkarni | 22 Mar 2026 | 01:37:46 | |
India’s past is often told as a sequence of empires rising and falling — but few moments were as decisive as the 18th century, when one power came remarkably close to reshaping the entire subcontinent.
In this wide-ranging conversation, Dr. Uday S. Kulkarni joins Bharatvaarta to trace the rise of the Marathas — from the early vision of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to a force that expanded across India, challenged the Mughals, and altered the balance of power in the subcontinent.
We unpack how Swaraj was not just a political idea but a civilisational response to centuries of upheaval, how military innovation, mobility, and leadership enabled rapid expansion, and why Delhi became the ultimate symbol of power for the Marathas.
The conversation moves through defining moments — the encounter with Afzal Khan, the confrontation with Aurangzeb, the resilience after Sambhaji Maharaj’s execution, and the long 27-year war that hardened Maratha resolve into an unstoppable force.
It also examines the rise of the Peshwas, the expansion into North India, alliances and conflicts with regional powers, and the moment when the Marathas stood as the dominant force across much of the subcontinent.
This episode isn’t just about history.
It’s about how power is built, lost, and remembered.

| Cold War 2.0 Explained | Velina Tchakarova on Wars, Power & India’s Choices | 07 Mar 2026 | 01:13:44 | |
The world is entering a phase where crises no longer unfold in isolation — wars, supply chains, energy chokepoints, sanctions, and strategic rivalries are now tightly connected inside a rapidly accelerating global power transition. In this wide-ranging conversation, Velina Tchakarova joins Bharatvaarta to explain why we are now living through what she calls Cold War 2.0 — a far more complex confrontation than the first Cold War, shaped not just by military blocs but by technology, finance, energy systems, and strategic interdependence.
We unpack why the United States–China rivalry now defines the international system, how the war involving Iran fits into a larger strategic framework, and why chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz can trigger global economic consequences far beyond the region. The conversation moves through proxy wars, the future of Ukraine, the long-term ambitions of Russia, the erosion of Europe’s security architecture, and why global shocks now spread faster than political systems can respond. It ends with India’s unique strategic position: not fully inside any bloc, yet central to all of them. Velina explains why India may be the only true bridge power in an increasingly divided world — and why that role comes with enormous responsibility.
This episode isn’t about one war. It’s about the structure of the world that is emerging beneath all of them.

| India’s Hardest Choices in 2026 | Abhijit Chavda | 30 Jan 2026 | 01:11:03 | |
India is entering a decade where its biggest challenges will not come from visible enemies alone — but from the choices it makes under pressure in a rapidly fragmenting world order.
In this wide-ranging and rigorous conversation, Abhijit Chavda joins Bharatvaarta to examine the hard geopolitical decisions India faces today — from energy security and strategic autonomy to American pressure, global trade realignments, and the limits of the so-called “rules-based order.”
We unpack why India’s purchase of Russian energy is not just an economic decision but a sovereignty test, how sanctions and tariffs are used as tools of control, and why Western demands rarely stop at a single issue. Abhijit Chavda explains how dollar dominance, payment systems, and global trade architecture have become instruments of coercion — and why India’s attempts to bypass them trigger resistance.
The conversation moves through America’s containment strategy, regime-change patterns in South Asia, pressure on India’s neighbourhood, and why “multi-alignment” is not indecision but survival strategy for a rising power. We explore whether India can stay sovereign without picking sides, what happens if it doesn’t, and why the next few years may define India’s trajectory for decades.
This episode isn’t about ideology.
It’s about power, pressure, and the price of independence.

| Hitler: The Proclaimed Messiah of the Palestinian Cause | Aabhas Malhadiyar | 23 Jan 2026 | 01:27:57 | |
History is often presented as settled, resolved, and safely contained in textbooks.
But the reality is far messier — shaped by ideology, selective memory, and the narratives societies choose to preserve or suppress.
In this wide-ranging and deeply challenging conversation, Aabhas Malhadiyar examines the Holocaust not as an isolated European event, but as part of a much larger ideological and political story that continues to echo into the present.
Drawing from historical research and archival material, Aabhas Malhadiyar walks us through the roots of Jewish persecution, the ideological currents that fed Nazi genocide, and the global dimensions of collaboration, silence, and complicity during World War II.
We discuss how hatred evolves into policy, how alliances form around shared ideologies, and why certain uncomfortable chapters of history remain under-examined. The conversation also explores how religious extremism, political mobilisation, and unresolved historical narratives continue to shape modern conflicts and global discourse.
This episode is not about provocation.
It is about confronting history honestly — even when it challenges our assumptions.

| Understanding the Deep State | Former R&AW Chief Vikram Sood | 17 Jan 2026 | 01:22:25 | |
India is entering an era where power no longer sits only in governments, elections, or visible institutions — it operates through deep systems, narratives, capital flows, intelligence networks, and corporate influence.
In this wide-ranging and uncompromising conversation, former R&AW chief Vikram Sood ji explains how the deep state actually functions in the modern world — beyond conspiracy theories and political slogans.
From intelligence agencies and NGOs to Big Tech, asset managers, media, and covert influence operations, Vikram Sood ji lays out how power sustains itself regardless of which government is in office. We discuss why wars no longer need victories, how narratives are manufactured to justify conflict, and why wealth — not ideology — has become the real source of global control.

| Deregulation, Civil Service Reform & India’s Growth Story | Manish Sabharwal | 08 Jan 2026 | 01:10:49 | |
⚔️ Manish Sabharwal — Why India Isn’t Creating Jobs, Regulatory Cholesterol & Fixing the Administrative State 🇮🇳📉
India doesn’t lack land.
It doesn’t lack capital.
And it certainly doesn’t lack labour.
So why isn’t it combining into prosperity the way it did in China?
In this sharp, no-nonsense conversation, Manish Sabharwal explains why India’s real bottleneck is not infrastructure or skills — but a regulatory mindset that treats innovation as “prohibited till permitted.”
We unpack why 1991 was necessary but incomplete, how regulatory cholesterol suffocates entrepreneurship, why civil-service reform is now unavoidable, and why productivity — not activism or spending — will decide India’s future.
From land, labour and capital — to licenses, inspections, criminalisation, universities, inequality and prosperity — this episode is a first-principles diagnosis of what is actually broken.
Not optimism.
Not ideology.
Just reality.

| Inside the RSS: How the Sangh Shapes Policy & Politics in Modern India | Sachin Nandha | 20 Dec 2025 | 01:53:09 | |
⚔️ Sachin Nandha — Inside the RSS, Rashtra vs Raja & How Power Really Works in India 🇮🇳🧠
The RSS has never contested an election — yet it remains one of the most influential forces shaping modern India.
So what exactly is the RSS?
An ideology? An organisation? A movement?
Or something far more complex?
In this deep, nuanced, and often uncomfortable conversation, Sachin Nandha breaks down how the RSS actually functions — not as a conventional institution, but as a bottom-up social movement built around the daily shakha, psychological rootedness, and the long project of rebuilding the Rashtra.
We explore how the RSS creates citizens rather than cadres, why it avoids direct control over the state, how it relates to the BJP and political power, and why tension between the Rashtra (people) and the Raja (state) is not a bug — but the point.
From caste, religion, and civilisational identity — to seva, social capital, discipline, and decentralised power — this episode goes beyond slogans to examine the RSS as it understands itself.
Not defence.
Not propaganda.
A serious attempt to understand one of the most misunderstood movements in India.

In this probing conversation, Manu Joseph joins Roshan Cariappa to break down the ideas we rarely confront directly — why the poor stay invisible, why caste still determines destiny, why male feminism is contradictory, and why even towering political figures eventually lose emotional pull.
This episode is a mirror — uncomfortable at times, but necessary.
No outrage. No worship. Just clarity.

| Aurangzeb, Whitewashing & India’s Forgotten Truths | Saurabh Lohogaonkar – Author | 16 Oct 2025 | 01:10:44 | |
Aurangzeb, History & the Politics of Memory – Saurabh Lohogaonkar on India’s Distorted Past ⚔️📖
Aurangzeb remains one of the most polarizing figures in Indian history — remembered as both an emperor and a tyrant, a ruler and a destroyer. But what happens when centuries later, his legacy is rewritten to fit modern political comfort?
In this thought-provoking conversation, Saurabh Lohogaonkar joins host Roshan Cariappa to unpack how India’s history has been selectively sanitized — how tyrants became “administrators,” persecution was reframed as “policy,” and why the truth about Aurangzeb still makes us uneasy today.
Lohogaonkar argues that whitewashing history doesn’t heal wounds — it deepens them. He explores how religious orthodoxy replaced pluralism, how the Deccan wars drained the empire, and how post-independence academia rebranded a dark chapter of history as a misunderstood reign.
This episode is not about hate — it’s about honesty, memory, and reclaiming clarity from centuries of distortion.

India’s technology story is at a crossroads — from America’s visa games and rising protectionism, to India’s own challenges with innovation, policy, and capital. In this hard-hitting conversation, veteran investor and public intellectual Mohandas Pai joins us to decode what it all means for India’s future.
Pai explains why America’s tech dominance rests on Indian talent, why shutting doors will only hurt the US, and how India must shift from being the world’s “IT back office” to building deep-tech companies at scale. We discuss the brain drain myth, the real capital bottlenecks, and why India’s policies often stifle rather than support entrepreneurs.

Yet, he remains optimistic: confident that with the right reforms, India can dream big and reach a $10 trillion economy by 2035.

| How GST 2.0 could transform Indian Middle Class | Ajay Rotti - Taxation Expert | 08 Sep 2025 | 01:03:54 | |
India’s tax system is once again at a crossroads with GST 2.0. What began as the biggest reform in independent India was riddled with compromises, complexities, and billion-rupee disputes — but what do the new changes really mean for ordinary citizens? Tax lawyer and founder of Tax Compaas, Ajay Rotti, joins us to break it all down.
In this insightful conversation, Ajay explains why GST was born more political than economic, how disputes over popcorn, KitKat, and cosmetic creams exposed deep flaws in the system, and why rate rationalisation today is less a revolution than a course correction.
We also dive into what GST 2.0 means for the real middle class — from grocery bills and dairy products to insurance and savings — and why simpler compliance could finally give relief to businesses and MSMEs. Ajay sheds light on how tax tribunals might speed up litigation, why expanding the tax base is essential, and how trust, not just revenue, is the true foundation of a fair tax system.
Finally, we turn to the larger picture: how taxation shapes India’s growth story, the balance between states and the Centre, and why reforms must go beyond collections to building confidence in governance.

| Why India Is “Problematic” for the US | @AbhijitChavda on Trump Tariffs, India's Response, & More | 02 Sep 2025 | 01:23:30 | |
India’s foreign policy faces new challenges as the US shifts from calling us a “partner” to branding us “problematic.” What does this mean for India’s place in the world? Abhijit Chavda breaks it all down.
In this explosive conversation, Abhijit Chavda breaks down how Washington’s view of India has shifted from “most important partner” to “problematic.” We examine Peter Navarro’s outburst, why tariffs are no longer trade tools but geopolitical weapons, and how the deep state often pulls strings behind elected governments.
The discussion also covers Trump’s possible return and what it means for India, China’s long game of boxing us in, and the uncomfortable truth that superpowers have no friends—only interests. Abhijit explains how globalisation and the dollar are used as levers of control, why Europe is losing relevance in the emerging order, and how technology has become the new battlefield.
Finally, we turn the focus back to India: why we lack long-term strategic will, why short-term politics keeps us on the defensive, and what it would take for India to start thinking in centuries, not election cycles.

In this hard-hitting follow-up, author Medha ji dismantles pop-culture myths around the Mughals and revisits why Ch. Shivaji Maharaj’s revolution mattered. She challenges romanticized screen portrayals (Salim the “hero,” Akbar the “liberal”) with court chronicles and references, then contrasts them with Ch. Shivaji’s governance—protecting civilians, punishing molestation, and easing agrarian burdens. We also examine the human cost of imperial monuments—extraction from farmers, enslavement, famine—and ecological shifts like poppy displacing native crops, alongside Jahangir’s own tally of mass hunts.
