Beyond the Horizon: the Ultimate Stockholm Guide

samedi 9 mai 2026Durée 41:08

Golden light dancing over the Baltic, cobblestone streets echoing with centuries of history, and a city spread across islands like a perfectly scattered constellation... welcome to Stockholm.

📄 READ THE WHOLE DESTINATION GUIDE

In this episode, we take you deep into Sweden’s capital with a refined, insider perspective, far beyond the postcard version. Inspired by my full guide to Stockholm, this journey is designed to help you experience the city the way a seasoned traveler, or a well-connected local, would.

We begin in Gamla Stan, where narrow medieval alleys lead you toward the grandeur of the Royal Palace. From there, we move into the cultural depth of Djurgården, home to the iconic Vasa Museum and peaceful waterfront paths.

You will follow a curated flow of the city, from vibrant neighborhoods like Södermalm to elegant boulevards and hidden cafés, all designed to maximize your time while keeping that sense of discovery alive.

Stockholm is also a lifestyle. Think refined Nordic cuisine, minimalist design, and memorable dining experiences at places like Restaurant Adam/Albin. We also cover the best time to visit, how to move efficiently between islands, and the subtle details that turn a good trip into something exceptional.

Because Stockholm is not just a destination, it is a rhythm, a feeling, a quiet kind of luxury that stays with you long after you leave.

The Ultimate Edinburgh Travel Guide: What to know, where to go, and how to make the most of your visit

lundi 4 mai 2026Durée 41:00

Edinburgh is unlike any other European capital. Its medieval Old Town and Georgian New Town, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, coexist in an extraordinarily compact space. The castle looks down over everything from a volcanic plug 340 million years old. And Greyfriars Kirkyard holds the real grave of Tom Riddle.

In this episode, we explore the city in depth: the neighbourhoods (Old Town, New Town, Leith, Stockbridge), the essential sites (Castle, Holyroodhouse, Arthur’s Seat, National Museum, Royal Yacht Britannia), Edinburgh’s connection to the Harry Potter universe (George Heriot’s School, Greyfriars Kirkyard, Victoria Street), and the stories no one tells you before you go (the Balmoral clock that runs three minutes fast, the brigadier penguin at the zoo, the alcoholic elephant that once lived in the castle).

We also cover restaurants, hotels, day trips to the Highlands and the Borders, the best time of year to visit, and how Edinburgh fits into a broader Scotland or British Isles itinerary.

Brief | The Ultimate PERU Travel Guide: What to Know, Where to Go, and How to Make the Most of Your Visit

mardi 28 avril 2026Durée 02:46

Peru is the only country in the world where you can stand among Inca stones assembled without mortar, descend into a cloud forest that same afternoon, and sit down that evening in one of the best restaurants on the planet.

None of that is an exaggeration.

We cover the full guide, including:

The regions: Lima and its cliffs above the Pacific, Cusco at 11,150 feet with its Inca foundations beneath Spanish colonial buildings, the Sacred Valley from Ollantaytambo to Pisac, Machu Picchu in the cloud forest at 7,970 feet, the Amazon around Puerto Maldonado and Iquitos, and Lake Titicaca at 12,500 feet with its floating reed islands

The experiences not to miss: Machu Picchu at sunrise before the crowds arrive, the four-day Inca Trail to the Sun Gate, the Macaw Clay Lick at Tambopata where hundreds of scarlet macaws descend onto the riverbank at dawn, a tasting menu dinner at Maido, Central, or Astrid y Gastón, and Sacsayhuamán above Cusco with its 125-ton limestone blocks fitted to perfection

The food: Maido in Miraflores named the world’s best restaurant in 2026, Central named the world’s best in 2023, La Mar for lunch ceviche with no reservation needed, and the covered markets of Cusco for the three thousand potato varieties native to Peru

The honest logistics: why Machu Picchu tickets sell out months in advance at tuboleto.cultura.pe, why Inca Trail permits are gone up to six months before departure, and why 24 to 48 hours of acclimatization in Cusco is not a suggestion but a necessity

When to go: May through October for dry and reliable conditions, May and September to October as the best compromise between weather and crowds, and the rainy season for those who want the Andes empty and green

Seven days covers the essentials. Ten days adds Lake Titicaca or the Amazon. Fourteen days begins to do justice to what the country actually contains.

Peru systematically expands to fill whatever time you give it.

The most satisfied travelers are those who resist the urge to cover everything and choose instead to go deeper into fewer places.

The Art of Slow Travel : Crystal Cruises and the World Voyage Experience

vendredi 10 avril 2026Durée 37:04

In this episode, we take a close look at Crystal Cruises, one of the most storied names in ultra-luxury ocean travel and a brand that has built its entire philosophy around a single idea: that the best cruise experience is not the most impressive one, but the most livable one.

We cover everything you need to know before considering a Crystal voyage, including:

‣ The story of Crystal's founding in 1988, its period of disruption in the early 2020s, and how the brand was relaunched with its original philosophy intact

‣ What the Crystal Serenity offers today, including its reduced guest capacity, high crew-to-guest ratio, and refurbished interiors

‣ The Ultra All-Inclusive model and why removing the financial friction of daily decisions changes how guests experience time onboard

‣ Crystal's service philosophy: anticipatory, observational, and natural, built around learning preferences through attention rather than scripted interactions

‣ Why Crystal performs particularly well on extended voyages and world cruises, and what separates a ship that impresses on day one from one that earns its reputation over 100 nights

‣ How Crystal compares to Silversea, Seabourn, and Regent Seven Seas, and which traveler is best suited to each

‣ The kind of guest Crystal is genuinely designed for, and why that specificity is a strength rather than a limitation

If you have ever wondered what it actually feels like to live on a ship for weeks or months at a time, this episode gives you an honest answer.

Kyoto at the Right Pace : Japan's Cultural Heart

vendredi 10 avril 2026Durée 32:32

In this episode, we explore Kyoto: the former imperial capital of Japan, the country's most concentrated destination for temples, tradition, and historical atmosphere, and the city that most rewards travelers who are willing to slow down.

We cover everything you need to know before planning a trip to Kyoto, including:

‣ What makes Kyoto fundamentally different from Tokyo and Osaka, and why the contrast between the three cities is one of the most compelling reasons to visit all of them

‣ The neighborhoods that define the Kyoto experience: Gion, Higashiyama, Arashiyama, Fushimi, and the Nishiki Market area

‣ Why timing is everything in Kyoto, particularly for temple visits, and how arriving early in the morning transforms the experience

‣ The ryokan stay: what it is, what it includes, and why even a single night in a well-chosen traditional inn changes the texture of a Kyoto trip

‣ The tea ceremony as a window into the values that define Japanese culture

‣ Cycling through the city and why a bicycle opens up a completely different Kyoto from what you find on foot or by bus

‣ The best seasons to visit and why both spring and autumn require advance planning

‣ A suggested three-day itinerary covering Gion, Higashiyama, Arashiyama, and Fushimi Inari

‣ Day trips from Kyoto to Nara, Osaka, and Hiroshima

If you are trying to decide how long to spend in Kyoto, what to prioritize, and how to experience it beyond the obvious highlights, this episode gives you the framework to plan it properly.

Frictionless Luxury on Seabourn: Small Ships, Big Service

vendredi 10 avril 2026Durée 45:07

In this episode, we explore what makes Seabourn Cruise Line one of the most consistently respected names in ultra-luxury ocean travel. Founded in 1986 and now celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2028, Seabourn has built its reputation on a simple but demanding philosophy: intimate small ships, all-suite accommodations, and service that feels genuinely personal rather than performed.

We cover everything you need to know before considering a Seabourn voyage, including:‣ What the all-suite, all-inclusive model actually means in practice, and why The Grill by Thomas Keller is included at no extra charge

‣ How the crew-to-guest ratio shapes the onboard atmosphere and why guests feel known rather than managed

‣ The Seabourn Conversations programme and how distinguished guest speakers become part of daily life onboard

‣ Signature experiences unique to Seabourn: Marina Day, the private Evening at Ephesus concert among ancient ruins, and the world cruise programme

‣ The expedition fleet, Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit, including their Polar Class certification, Zodiac landings, and custom submarines for underwater exploration

‣ How Seabourn compares to Silversea, Regent Seven Seas, and Crystal Cruises, and which type of traveler is the best fit for each

Whether you are a first-time luxury cruiser or an experienced traveler considering your next step up, this episode gives you an honest and detailed picture of what life on a Seabourn ship actually looks like, day after day.

vendredi 10 avril 2026Durée 37:36

In this episode, we explore Silversea Cruises, one of the most recognized names in ultra-luxury ocean travel and the line that has arguably done more than any other to define what luxury expedition cruising can be.

We cover everything you need to know before considering a Silversea voyage, including:

How Silversea was founded in 1994 with a then-revolutionary all-inclusive concept, and how the brand has evolved under Royal Caribbean Group ownership while preserving its identity

The fleet structure: ocean vessels and expedition ships, and what the difference means in practice for the onboard experience and destination range

The all-suite model and what butler service included for every guest actually looks like day to day

The S.A.L.T. programme, Sea And Land Taste, and how it connects food, culture, and destination into a single continuous experience

The expedition fleet and what it takes to land by Zodiac on an Antarctic ice field before returning to a gourmet dinner in your suite

How Silversea compares to Seabourn, Regent Seven Seas, and Crystal Cruises

Brief | FICAV, Travel Insurance and Credit Cards: Why You're Probably Not as Well Protected as You Think

lundi 27 avril 2026Durée 02:44

A cardiac arrest in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. A potential bill of $150,000 USD. And zero dollars out of pocket.

The difference between the two is a single decision made before boarding.

We cover the full guide, including:

The FICAV: what it actually is, what it covers, and what it does not. A financial safety net that protects your investment if you don’t receive the services you paid for. Not your health, not your life, not a medical evacuation.

The credit card: useful for minor inconveniences, dangerously insufficient for a serious emergency. Medical coverage caps that fall short, exclusions for pre-existing conditions, limits of 15 to 21 days of travel, mandatory full payment with the card, and reduced or nonexistent coverage past a certain age.

Michel’s story: a helicopter evacuation over the open ocean, coordinated by his travel insurance provider within hours. Transport, coast guard, hospital, family communication back in Quebec. Michel had one thing to do: recover.

The five questions to ask before every trip: what is your maximum medical coverage, are your pre-existing conditions covered, what is the maximum duration guaranteed, did you pay with the right card, and does your travel agency hold a Quebec OPC permit.

The FICAV protects your money. Travel insurance protects your life. The credit card covers the rest. The three are not interchangeable.

Michel is probably somewhere out on the water right now.

He got a second chance. Partly because of the doctors. Partly because of the right decision he made before he left.
