Tom Petty: Full Moon Fever (1989) with Neal from Lakeville27 Oct 202602:45:46

What is scarier than bringing on a hip hop fan to talk Tom Petty? We find some songs that are certainly scary to listen to and Russ announces that this is the worst group of songs he has ever heard and we listend to Replica Trout Mask!  We talk baseball, how to talk to kids about sensitive subjects, more baseball and not at all about watches!  Then we talk Tom Petty and how an album this good can have a last song that is so bad.

Next week we are going to be off but then we are coming back with BB King live at the Regal or Neil Young when the rust sleeps.

295. Daft Punk: Random Access Memories (with Peter from Pigseye) 2013 ep. 29520 Oct 202602:43:16

Folks, we have Peter on who is just the best and you can hear me try to impress him on our longest episode ever. We have 2 paradoy songs, some great games and lists and this album us a banger.  however.. i have to say that at the end of all this aaron showed us the cast on his thumb when we were not recording and it was HUGE. I can't think about anything else.  Next Week: Neil Young and Crazy Horse with Rust Never Sleeps

Weezer: Weezer (Blue Album) 1994 ep. 29413 Oct 202601:49:46

We are finally talking Weezer but before we do, we talk old radio shows, hit the wildest region of the cereal  bracket, and talk about going to a weezer concert.

then we talk weezer and do a list of the best bands to come to minneapolis with Weezer!

Next week, Daft Punk Random Access Memories

The Breeders: Last Splash (1993) ep. 29306 Oct 202601:11:21

Get out your Guiness book of world records and join us at your favorite resatraunt as us four YOUNG guys hang out and talk about young things like customer service, showing up to things early, and what you do when your phone is terrible and doesnt just do what it is SUPPOSED TO DO EVEN THOUGH IT COST 1000 Bucks.  Then we have a list of the best bands with Twins and then we talk about this fun band where every song is a slightly different version of alternative music.

Next week. It's happening.  Blue Album by Weezer.

Van Halen: Van Halen (1978) w Jon from Edina ep. 29229 Sep 202601:46:45

Listen,

This album rips. It's so good that I had to reach out and BEG our guest to come on. Jon loves all things guitar and so I had to bring him on to talk about Eddie and the boys and literally his boy later in the band's life.

And what a life that was. I knew more about Van Halen and its members than any band ever. Thats crazy when you think about it.

We discover a new thing Aaron is into and then hear him spin a terrifying yarn. Then Russ talks us to the most fiber filled bracket ever.

Listen to this ep and then go back and listen to the Destiny's Child one again and a lot of the jokes make more sense and it also explains why we never seem to mention Russ's BIG NEWS.

Also I got in big trouble at home making the paroduy song at the end but it was worth it.

Next week we have the Breeders and Last Splash.

Russell's BIG NEWS22 Sep 202600:26:28

Listen, this is a podcast bit you can send to anyone and it is no boring watch stuff, just Russells Rolling Going. Send it to everyone you know to share our wonderful news.  You can't say this podcast has not had a story arc.

Destiny's Child: The Writing's on the Wall (1999) ep. 29122 Sep 202601:41:13

Listen, we can tell you all about our favorite watches or some mystery shoes that we sent to us in the mail but this episode has the biggest news that (thus far) has been dropped on the podcast ever. Its so big, I am going to release a second episode this week that is just Russ's Rolling going.

We talk Destiny's Child and Beyonce and the perils of going against her online or even if you are in Destiny's Child itself.  Finally, we have a lot of inception type jokes in this one so get ready to relisten to this one after Van Halen next week and it will make more sense.

Beck Does it Again! John Lennon: Imagine (1971) orig aired15 Sep 202601:28:15

Rubs eyes.

Oh man... where am I? I thought today was sept 9th! Its the day Lennon released this album. This has one of my favorite parody songs and a lot of jokes about women I love making love to people who aren't me.

This episode made me laugh made me what to go to Vegas. We get the origins of East St. Paul, and the origins of Aaron's weird relationship with his car dealer.

The bleeped joke was "loose slots" I hated that I remembered that.

Outkast: Speakerboxx/The Love Below (2003) ep. 29008 Sep 202601:29:08

Listen. This is a great album and all. There is some funny stuff here in the middle and at the end but mainly, we get to hear a record buying list from Aaron and it is exactly what you think it would be.

We talk breweries, the importanance of visiting friends, how Rob is dealing with his Cpap. Then we give some more showering tips and do a list that Russell does NOT like.

Next week we have Destiny's Child: The Writing's on the Wall

A TRIBUTE TO DOLLY PARTON01 Sep 202601:48:27

We replay all the times we talked Dolly Parton on the podcast and then replay our Coat of Many Colors episod

Björk: Post (1995) ep. 28925 Aug 202601:39:11

We've driven through the mountain passes of Iowa to bring you this episode about Björk's 2nd album Post. We head out to the field of dreams, get expensive tickets to a game, and Aaron has a car dealer say "Please leave me alone."

Then we go over more of our favorite cereals and don't talk about nearly as many mining accidents as we did last week.

So put on your latex and meet us next week when we check out an underground album called Speakerboxxx/ Love Below by Outkast. (kind of)

The Modern Lovers: The Modern Lovers (1976) ep. 28818 Aug 202601:23:29

FROM ROLLING STONE: Jonathan Richman moved from Boston to New York as a teenager in hopes of sleeping on Lou Reed’s couch. That influence shows on the two-chord anthem “Roadrunner.” Recorded in 1972 but not released until 1976, Lovers turned the tough sounds of the Velvets into an ode to suburban romanticism. “Rock & roll was about stuff that was natural,” Richman said. “I wasn’t about drugs and space.” Songs like “Pablo Picasso,” “Girl Friend,” and “Dignified and Old” touched generations of punk and indie-rock innocents. Note From Rob: Some of the audio for the sfx and music sucks because my computer sucks. How can a MacBook bought this year not handle RECORDING A PODCAST? I am too lazy to fix it all, and the music is not that great anyway.

The Byrds: Mr. Tambourine Man (1965) ep. 28711 Aug 202601:39:16

Hey everyone,

Look out for those bedposts this week as we talk a Faux British invasion and we go deep underground for the Byrds/ Bob Dylan mash up of Hey Mr. Tambourine Man. We talk going up to Alaska, barfing on a boat, getting your fiber and why Hublots just plain blow on this three man weave of an episode.

Then we turn up the treble and listen to this divisive album while also talking about the biggest mining disasters of all time (these days it would be a data mining disaster)

Next week we talk The modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers. If you have heard of the band, I am impressed.

Beck Does it Again: Ready to Die by the Notorious B.I.G. (1994) Orig Aired 1/26/2104 Aug 202601:32:58

In 1994 on this day Biggie married Faith Evans and very little else happened on that date so this is the ep you are getting while we finish up our summers. To be honest, I have no idea if this is any good or not but it is episode 22 which is very funny unless you understand the concept of aging.

Enjoy.  If you hate this, you will really hate beckdiditbetter.com

802 277 BECK and the voicemail is NOT full. That is a rumor.

Red Hot Chili Peppers: Californication (1999) ep. 28628 Jul 202601:38:04

Today we are talking big life changes by way of when you get better at baseball, and then we talk a LOT of baseball before Rob shares the horrors of the plane ride over. Then we chat about the best songs about handiwork, and we sample the wondrous (and glowing) Mountain Dew Donut by Kwik Trip.

Then we get our bong di biddie bing bong on with another Rick Rubin joint (stop selling crypto) and talk about a banger of an album that should be higher on the list.  Next week, we have the Byrds with Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man.

BECK Does a Clip Show! The best of the Crash Test Dummies, LIVE, and Dirty Granny14 Jul 202601:17:51

On this day (July 14th), 60 years ago (1966), Ellen Reid was born.  She was the keyboardist for the band the Crash Test Dummies! So I compliled all times we mentioned them. Then that wasn't enough time so I grabbed all the times we talked about LIVE and then I added Dirty Granny because why not?  We are recording this Friday so we probably will have an episode soon.

Beck Does it Again: Micheal Jackson: Off The Wall (1979) orig aired 4/27/2107 Jul 202601:25:06

Beck Does It Again: Ray Charles: Modern Sounds in Western and Country Music (1962) Orig Aired-1/24/2325 Jun 202601:35:46

Today is the day this Album became #1 in the U.S. in 1962, and I thank God every day I wasn't around then.  It sounds boring as hell.

Apple didn't like how I uploaded this so I had to do it again. Sorry Manny

Just a heads up... we are in schedulepocalypse and might take a few weeks off. Sorry that my wife loves to plan stuff! Call in and complain on the voicemail. 802 277 BECK

Frank Sinatra: Into the Wee Hours of the Morning (1955) ep. 282 (with special Guest MagicMike69)16 Jun 202601:55:38

Russ is on load management so we have very special guest, Magic Mike 69 to talk about Frank Sinatra, his phrasing, and the first concept album ever. It's basically like when adult stars have sex with their fans except it would be like our fans are better at having sex on camera.

Think about it.

We talk what (not) to say to your daughter's prom dates, adult social anxiety, Beck being on tour, and Mike's piano journey. Then we get into old blue eyes as he pretends to be sad (we know the reason he is not) and then we have two seperate lists!

Don't be like cave divers and just stop and give up! Down load this ep (which you did if you are reading this.)

Next week Big Star and Three/ Sister Lovers.

Donna Summer: Bad Girls (1979) ep. 28309 Jun 202601:53:58

Russ is on his two-game suspension for not laughing enough at my jokes, so it is just the menage a tois of the other three, and, much like a gas, we expand to fill the space. We finally talk about sidecars, we do some more random clips, and Matt gives Rob some texting etiquette.  Then Rob sees Madonna and has a New York night.

We have Little Rosie on and we talk quitting our dumb jobs, where to retire and then some state songs. Then we chat about Merlin Haggard (#1 Merle) and instead of a 100 dumb songs we picked 14 and they rip. We get to see the brothers talk about physical media (shocking) and Aaron has a few drinks in San Fran (Double Shocking) and Rob has a revelation that his mom should not listen to.  Next week is Donna Summers Hot Stuff (I think)

Leave a voicemail 802 277 BECK. I know the segment was better now but we need voicemails.

Harry Nilsson: Nilsson Schmilsson (1971) ep. 28126 May 202601:24:23

Today we become the best Harry Schilsson podcast even if we really like his son! We play a fun parody song, talk about taking your kids to a concert, people sitting in the back (I didn't realize they were kids he was talking about) and Russell gets a new obsession. Then we listen to one of the most beautiful songs of all time and the. The coconut song song comes on.

Next week we have Frank Sinatra, in the wee small hours.

50 Cent: Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003) ep. 28019 May 202601:25:04

We love this album like any kid loves cake. We start this episode by giving Aaron a choice of a lifetime and then move on to talk about the point of sports, songs that seems old as hell, massage issues and the heartbreak of defeat.

Then we put the hammer down and listen to what might be the biggest songs of our lifetimes and an album we really enjoyed.

Next week we are talking Harry Nilsson and Nilsson Schmilsson

Nirvana: Unplugged in New York (1994) Ep. 27912 May 202601:14:00

We are talking NIRVANA UNPLUGGED this week and if you werr an angsty teen like Russ you know you listened to this 1 million times and you probably forgot how depressing it was. We talk about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Aaron gets elected president and we talk new DQ flavors.

Then we talk Unplugged and how much we listeded to this Legend #3

Next week it is Rob's birthday (leave a voice mail on Wed 5/13) 802 277 BECK

and we will listen to 50 cent, Get Rich or Die Trying. I wonder which path I am on?

I have been letting my children write these, and that's why there are so many spelling errors. I have fired them.

We are talking colonoscopies, new shoes, and seeing the sequel to Harry Potter before anything else. We go over some of the songs we hated, and there was NOT a list that got deleted after the first song. We welcome our fan interactions and that is why we are talking about Houses of the Holy by Zepp. Its got the highest highs and the Crungiest lows.

The Velvet Underground: White Light/ White Heat (1968) Ep. 27210 Mar 202601:08:27

You'll never guess which one of us is eating more tinned fish?!?!? We talk cowboy movies, but we can hardly hear what we are saying due to all the licorice (not really) behind me. We cover the best MN albums, splitting food, and of course we check out strip club reviews.

Then we talk about the worst the Velvet Underground album we have heard yet so we cleanse the palate with Bringing Down the Horse and it fucking rips. Great job Wallflowers.

Beck Does It Again: Buddy Holly: 20 Golden Greats (1978) orig aired 10-31-2303 Feb 202601:38:43

Wow. I was just looking at the last couple of Months and we have missed a lot of episodes. I'm not going to lie, I was in London, so this is my fault.  This is Feb 3rd, so it is the day the music died, and this podcast always celebrates this solemn day with a respectful discussion. We talk about flavor savers (time is a flat circle), and then I play a bad parody song and then drop the hammer Russ style with a good one.

This is all of the episode I listened t,o but I started with a Big Johnson joke so I know this is a great ep.

Next Week: Are you Randy baby? Randy Newman!

I'm a "new man" because I have decided to change my life.

I am leaving my wife and kids.

Does that make you, Randy?

If so, give me a call, because I am so lonely.

Just like when I gave money to my friend Lee.  Then he was hardly Friendly.... he never paid me back!  Now I am friendless.

Because I am hanging out with my friend Les. He is great, much better than Lee.   But my friend Les changed his last name when he married the old Moore widow..... Now Les is Moore.

We talk hillybillys in vegas, pick up basketball in vegas, and playing video craps in vegas. We talk about falling in love with the women on the cards, hotel lobby late nights, and feeding the dog.  Then we break down the California punk Band The Minutemen and we sample a few songs off of the album because we had to get to the buffet.

Next week we talk about Randy Newman Sail Away which has 100% chance of us talking about Majoir League.

We are getting this done early to get to our puzzles, but first, we talk about Savannah Bananas and then go through the best songs of 1997 for a depressing reason.  Then we talk records for the holidays and finally we discuss the realities of nosehairs.

Then we get into the album that is for people who love pavement. It's a zig when the record companies wanted them to zag.

Next week, the Minutemen with Double Nickels and we are off to vegas!

We rail against the music establishment and listen to Pink Floyd lament on loss when we listen to one of the most anticipated albums of all time as we become the best Pink Floyd podcast with their final album on the list. Before we talk Roger Waters and David Gilmour, we sit down and discuss our 2025, getting our kids good at video games, look back at some of our favorite categories on a certain website, and talk about podcasting for our 6th year.

Then we get into the puzzle lifestyle, the best sports shows, and Matt goes on a hunt to find his BK Knights (or pumps.)

Then we talk the best songs about Machines, our ring style, and talk about how we are smart guys.

Beck does it again: The Original Christmas Episode of the Best Rock Christmas Songs (Originally Aired DEC 22nd 2020)03 Jan 202601:26:33

Listen. I know I released this already ,but for some reason it didn't come out on Apple Podcasts so I am releasing it again to see if that works. This is the episode from when we still enjoyed the podcast so much that we were adding episodes and for this one we covered Rolling Stone's list of the greatest rock Christmas songs of all time.

It has the first 12 days of Christmas songs on it and is not a bad episode but we were all up to our elbows with family stuff and Pink Floyd does not exactly scream HOLIDAY CHEER so have a go with this one.

If you already heard this on spotify or youtube (freak), just download it again and make us feel good.

Beck Does it Again: Best Holiday Songs from the Rolling Stone Magazine30 Dec 202501:26:33

This is an EARLY throwback to when we still liked doing the podcast so much that we were adding extra episodes. We cover the best holiday rock songs according to Rolling Stone Magazine. We will probably be back next week.  We desperately need voicemails or texts 802 277 BECK

The Beatles: A Hard Day’s Night (1964) Ep. 26323 Dec 202501:42:10

AUDIO FIXED. Thanks to our fans for pointing this out to me in lots of texts. I loved it.

Hey everyone. We are getting double teamed by the Beatles this week and it might make us cream our eyes out. We combined these two albums so we don't go insane. I wish I would have done the history of the album before each one but we still get to hear about Flavor Savers, the Best Christmas Movies, and having sharp bones.

We talk about the benefits of breaking up, we talk to Beck Claus, and reflect back on our busy 2025.

Next week we are talking Pink Floyd, "Wish you were here" and we question our sanity for the 264th time.

We talk about our various types of whips, the worst airplane movies, and Rob tries to talk Pat O'Brien.   Then we sing along with Snow and go on a comment rabbit hole. Rob goes on a winning streak, Matt talks inflatables, and Big Daddy takes on the big Easy.

Then we talk the boys playing their own instruments, the great music of the 90s, and whether or not an eclectic album is a good thing.

Next week we are talking New Order "Power, Corruption, and Lies" and you should also listen to some versions of Blue Monday!

The Slits: Cut (1979) Ep. 26002 Dec 202501:22:27

Listen. We know you are not here to hear what we have to say. You are here because you are HUGE The Slits fans. We get a pleasureable voicemail where Russ has to face his greatest letdowns, Aaron tells his most pathetic story ever, and we ask if there are any good restaurants in Edina that won't make you wait!

Then we talk about the Slits and the best female punk bands from Kurt Cobain's journal.

Next week we are talking Beastie Boys: Check your Head! 802 277 BECK
