Ep 1011. Puzzle Problems: a mindful story and meditation for kids21 Jan 202600:16:00

Patrick the puzzle is missing a piece and worries that the kids won’t be able to enjoy playing anymore. What will he do?

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 3:57

Puzzle Problem Excerpt:

Patrick knew days like this very well. These were puzzle days. When the weather was cold and blustery, the kids liked to stay inside where it was warm. They wore soft sweaters and fuzzy socks. They drank hot cocoa and curled up on the floor closer to the heater. And on days like this, the kids would choose something quiet and cozy to do together. Like a puzzle.

There was just one problem. Patrick the Puzzle was missing a piece.

Ep 1010. Sandbox Switch-Up: a bedtime story and mindful story for kids19 Jan 202600:17:31

Cousins Alice and Allie decide to switch their usual sandcastle-making jobs.

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 4:35

Sandbox Switch-Up Excerpt:

Allie was packing sand into bricks to make a castle wall, and Alice was busy digging a moat around the outside of the wall that Allie was building with the bricks. The two cousins always had lots of fun together building things out of sand, especially sandcastles. Allie always was the one to make the bricks and Alice was always the one to dig the moat because that is what they were best at.

Alice appreciated how good Allie’s bricks were. They were well-packed, and strong. The bricks held together even when stacked to make a wall.

Mike can’t find his favorite toy train! Will cleaning up his room help him find his missing toys?

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:53

Tidy Tracks Excerpt:

Mike walked up to the shelf, standing on his tippy-toes, but when he looked where Tysen normally stayed, he didn’t see the green and purple engine anywhere!

“Maybe I put him away with the tracks,” Mike thought. He picked up the case of train tracks. The case seemed a bit light. When Mike opened it, he saw that half the tracks were missing, and the tunnel and the bridge were gone too!

Confused, Mike pushed aside a big box of crayons and a stack of coloring books. Tysen wasn’t behind either of those. Where could the train and tracks be?

Ep 534. Brief Break: a soothing story and guided meditation26 Dec 202500:17:30

Owen has a great idea for a story to write but he struggles to get started. His dad has an idea to help him.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new stories this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Brief Break,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 3:39

Brief Break Excerpt:

Owen sat down at his desk. Today he was going to write a story. Yesterday, Owen had watched a robin taking care of her nest and eggs in a tree outside his house. Owen had never seen a bird’s nest up close before.

He was so fascinated by what the robin had done in her nest that he jotted down some notes yesterday evening with details about everything he had observed. Now, as he looked over his notes, he thought that what he had seen would make a good story. Owen decided to use the computer to write his story, so he stood up from his desk to ask his mom and dad if he could use the computer. He walked into the family room where his mom and dad were reading.

Today’s Meditation: Relax as you imagine sunlight warming you as you lie in a grassy meadow.

Ep 1002. Colorful Sails: a children’s story and guided relaxation24 Dec 202500:17:18

Cassandra Sailboat sees some colorful triangles out on the water. What could they be?

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:42

Colorful Sails Excerpt:

For a while, Cassandra just enjoyed the feeling of sailing. She listened to the water splashing against her sides, the call of distant birds, and the friendly voices of the captain and skipper as they chatted. What a beautiful morning!

Up ahead, Cassandra could see some distant shapes, but didn’t know what they were. They looked like small triangles, just barely visible above the sparkling waves. The triangles were all different colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Cassandra hoped the captain would steer her toward them. She was curious to learn what they were!

Ep 1001. Farmhouse Flight: a relaxing kids’ meditation and bedtime story22 Dec 202500:18:30

When Falana Fly unexpectedly finds herself inside the farmer’s house, she has to stay calm and find her way back outside!

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 3:45

Farmhouse Flight Excerpt:

After watching the chickens, Falana flew from her rock and headed closer to the farmer, who was taking a moment to close her eyes and enjoy the sun on her face. The farmer’s hat looked inviting, so there Falana landed. It was a soft fabric that was quite lovely to sit on.

It was so comfortable, in fact, that after sitting peacefully for a few moments, Falana dozed off to sleep. She only woke up when the farmer took off the hat and set it on a nearby table. As soon as Falana was awake, she realized she had a problem. And it was a big problem. Falana was no longer outside. The farmer had gone into the farmhouse.

Dragon Celebration Excerpt:

The band of forest creatures made their way along the path until they reached the edge of the forest, right where the path met the edge of the park. They heard voices – lots of voices. Half a dozen faces peered out of the forest shrubbery to see who was making all the noise.

In the middle of the park, the pavilion and nearby area were full of people…it looked like the whole town had assembled! Dragon had never seen so many people together at the same time, adults and children alike. On one of the picnic tables was a bright yellow scarf, with yet another tag on it.

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 4:09

Playground Plans Excerpt:

Today, Brent was going to meet his friend Billy at the park. They had agreed on meeting in the morning before the park got busy because it would be quieter.

Brent had been thinking about the playdate all night long. He thought about how they could play follow-the-leader again. He thought about climbing on the jungle gym. He thought about searching for bugs under rocks. But most of all, he thought about talking to Billy, because Billy always listened to Brent’s favorite facts about trains, bugs, and weather.

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 3:31

Alice’s favorite place to visit was the beach. She knew there were a lot of beautiful and colorful fish that lived in the water, but she had never gotten to see them up close before. Alice loved the beach so much that she had checked out every book from her library about sea life. Her bedroom was decorated with images of sea creatures and mermaids. Even her night light was in the shape of a dolphin.

Today, Alice was extra excited to go to the beach. Her dad had given her a bright pink snorkel for her birthday and this would be the first time she would get to try it out. Now, she could finally see real-live fish in the ocean with her very own eyes!

Ep 998. Pizza Pup: a calming bedtime and nap time story for children10 Dec 202500:16:33

Darcy Dog always barks when people come to the door. Will this time be any different?

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 3:50

Pizza Pup Excerpt:

Darcy was a small brown dog with a curly tail and lots of fluffy fur. She lived with her humans in a cozy house on Ahway Island. A big wooden deck stretched across the back of the house, with a sliding glass door that Darcy loved to gaze through. She often lay in the warm sunspot by the glass, watching flowers sway and little animals scamper by. If she looked farther out, in the distance she could even see the dock where her humans sometimes took her on boat rides.

Darcy loved her house very much. And even more than the house, she loved her humans. She loved them so much that she wanted to protect them all the time. So, anytime someone new came to the door, Darcy would rush over with a loud, high-pitched bark. She would shout, “This is my house! Please leave! Go away!”

Ep 997. Piano Practice: a meditation and calming bedtime story08 Dec 202500:14:58

Lydia learns a new trick at her piano lesson – but it feels impossible!

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:10

Piano Practice Excerpt:

Lydia had already learned to play several songs and knew the names of the piano’s white keys. She knew where to place her hands, and she was starting to understand the rhythms and shapes of notes on her worksheets. Lydia was very curious about what she would learn at today’s lesson.

“Today, we’re going to learn about scales,” said Miss Bonnie. “A scale is like a little musical staircase. We start at the bottom, and we go up step by step until we reach the top, and then we come back down the same way. If you play all the white notes, from C to C, that is a scale. Try it with your pointer finger first!”

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new stories this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Harbor Happiness,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:51

Harbor Happiness Excerpt:

Today, Teagan was going to see her good friend, Izzy Icebreaker! Today was a day off for both of them. They didn’t need to do any of their usual work, so they could just spend the day together and play!

They were going to do all kinds of fun things: race in the river, talk about the beautiful places they’ve been, and even visit some of their other friends, like Manny Motorboat. Then Izzy was going to stay overnight in the empty dock next to Teagan’s dock. Teagan had been waiting for this day for a long time, so she had planned everything out. All she had to do was wait for Izzy, and the day could begin!

Ep 531. Koala Cuisine: a calming, original children’s story05 Dec 202500:18:01

Kian Koala and Kiera Koala learn to work together as they climb the highest eucalyptus tree in the animal sanctuary.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new stories this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Koala Cuisine,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 4:03

Koala Cuisine Excerpt:

It was a sunny summer afternoon on Ahway Island’s animal sanctuary. Kian and Kiera Koala were sitting under their favorite tree, feeling perfectly content. The quiet sanctuary felt like it belonged to them alone, and best of all, they were surrounded by their favorite treats: eucalyptus leaves. They had spent the morning eating the leaves they’d gathered the previous day while perched on a low branch, but now they were eager to add more to their tasty pile.

“Kiera, look at all of our leaves!” Kian said happily. He reached into the pile while Kiera munched on a mouthful of delicious greens. When Kian pulled a leaf free, it was almost the size of his head. He held it with both hands to show the smaller koala just how impressive it was.

Ep 996. Tandem Toads: a calming bedtime and nap time story03 Dec 202500:16:36

Tad Toad likes playing in the rain. Tad Toad doesn’t. Can they still be best friends?

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 4:02

Tandem Toads Excerpt:

The two toads sat in silence for a moment as the rain continued to fall around them – Tanner safe under his big leaf, and Tad next to his little puddle.

Tad felt confused. He had always shared his favorite things with Tanner. They spent nearly every day with one another. They liked the same snacks, the same fun games, the same shady spots to rest. Tad always thought that’s what best friends did. “If Tanner doesn’t like puddles, does that mean we’re not as close as we used to be?” Tad wondered to himself. The thought made him feel a bit wobbly inside.

Tad frowned. He looked at the puddles, then back at Tanner. “But we always do things together.”

Ep 995. Chair Care: a relaxing story for children01 Dec 202500:16:48

Chotu the bean bag chair is losing his fluff! How will he give the kids cozy hugs?

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:43

Chair Care Excerpt:

It was a calm, quiet morning at the elementary school. In his cozy corner near the bookshelf, Chotu the Cheer-Up Chair slowly woke up from a long night’s rest. The big, purple beanbag chair smiled, feeling the warm sunbeams that shined through the window. Chotu enjoyed this peaceful time of morning. He could hear the soft chirps of birds outside the window and the gentle tick-tock of the classroom clock. It was nice to have a small moment of stillness before beginning his day. He liked to think that having this time to himself made him even more ready to give a big, comfy hug to anyone who needed one.

Chotu had a special job at the school, and he took it very seriously. When the children felt worried, tired, or a little bit sad, they could plop down into Chotu’s soft, cushiony fluff and feel better. Even the teachers liked visiting Chotu too, especially when they needed a moment to rest their busy minds. Every time someone settled into him, Chotu felt happy and useful, knowing he was helping make someone’s day a little brighter. That’s why everyone at school called Chotu the Cheer-Up Chair.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new stories this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Ferret Fun,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 4:22

Ferret Fun Excerpt:

Fran had a whole room dedicated to shoes. From snow boots to sneakers to high heels, Fran wore all kinds of shoes. Sometimes, Fran would change into three different pairs a day! Fran and Fiona had a shoe game. Every morning, Fran asked Fiona what kind of shoes they should wear that day, and Fiona always chose the pretty long boots with heels that went clip-clop on wooden floors.

As soon as Fran asked Fiona what shoes to wear, Fiona excitedly hopped onto the boots and climbed inside them so that Fran would know which shoes Fiona thought Fran should wear. The boots were definitely Fiona’s favorite. Not only did Fiona love the sound the boots made, she also loved seeing how happy Fran was when they wore that kind of shoe. And of course, Fiona also loved to climb and hide inside the boots. They were perfect for playtime!

Brian and his friends practice teamwork when they do a basketball-themed relay race.

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:15

Teamwork Triumph Excerpt:

On the whole, Brian liked gym class. It was a chance to go outside and let off steam and be with friends. Brian participated seated in Winfield; they were a team. Basketball was one of his favorite activities; he’d become really good at dribbling while maneuvering Winfield at the same time.

Like many skills, Brian had practiced a lot to improve his abilities. Passing the ball and dribbling now felt almost like second nature. But most of all, Brian loved shooting baskets. This he had practiced for countless hours, from different distances and different angles.

Bobbi fluttered up into the breeze, letting it carry her higher and higher. As she flitted back and forth, this way and that, the scent got stronger and stronger until she came upon a beautiful meadow of wildflowers stretching out before her.

What a glorious sight it was! Tall yellow flowers waved in the wind as short purple flowers fluttered close to the ground. In the middle were bright pink flowers that reflected the sunshine. Bobbi landed on one of the pink flowers and tasted the nectar inside. It was absolutely delicious.

Ep 528. The Book of Music: a calming children’s story21 Nov 202500:15:52

Ruby June learns another way to share stories when her new friend Henry shows her a special book.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new stories this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “The Book of Music,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:20

The Book of Music Excerpt:

Ruby June lived in a little house between the library and school on Ahway Island. Her mom, Ms. Guerdy, was a teacher in the Ahway Island primary school. She always brought books home from the library or school for Ruby June to read. Ruby June loved to read. She read as many books as she could get. Every time she finished a book, she would place it in a stack in her room. After a couple of weeks, she would have a tower of books as tall as she was! Then her mom would take the books back to the library or school, and Ruby June would start a new tower.

Ruby June didn’t have many friends, but she loved her mom and her books very much. While Ruby June read many books by herself, she really enjoyed it when Mom would read a new book out loud to her. Mom was very good at reading stories out loud. She used different voices for different characters and sometimes added sound effects.

Ep 992. Clearing the Stage: a bedtime story with guided meditation for kids19 Nov 202500:17:44

Britney wants to perform for her grandmother, but her stage is dirty!

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 4:30

Clearing the Stage Excerpt:

In Britney’s music class, they’d been learning a song about a dancing frog. As she colored, Britney hummed the tune softly to herself. Britney’s picture showed a bright green frog wearing a sunny yellow tutu, hopping from one lily pad to another. She added some blue music notes floating in the air as a final touch. Perfect!

Britney looked at her picture with a big, proud smile. Satisfied with how it turned out, Britney stood up and laid it on the table. She started to sing the song louder now. She wiggled her fingers and began to hop across the rug. Hop, hop, hop, just like the frog in her picture.

Dragon heads to the beach at sunset and finds Fernando, Felicity, and Franetta, the peeper frogs!

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:02

Sunset Serenade Excerpt:

Dragon stepped outside the cave and listened. Many sounds traveled across the evening air. In the distance, Dragon could hear crickets chirping and the sleepy croak of a toad. Evening was an interesting time in the forest. Some animals were just waking up. Others were tucking themselves in for the night.

Next, Dragon sniffed the cool air and caught hints of pine needles, damp earth, and the far-off tang of salty ocean spray. A smile spread across Dragon’s face. Yes, the beach was calling tonight. So, with a spring in step, the little dragon set off on the familiar path to wait for the train.

Ep 1009. Which Way to Play? a meditation and relaxing story for children14 Jan 202600:16:53

When Hana Hyena can’t decide which game to play, LaShawn Lion comes up with a creative solution!

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 3:32

Which Way to Play? Excerpt:

LaShawn loved to pounce and jump around the Ahway Island Sanctuary with his friends. Hana was always ready to play games and try new ideas. Her favorite games were tag and hide and seek, especially when they involved lots of laughing. Truth be told, LaShawn loved every game Hana wanted to play. No matter what game she suggested, LaShawn always had fun with her.

LaShawn stretched one more time, stood up, and began walking away from the trees to the field where he would meet Hana. As he walked along the grassy sanctuary paths, LaShawn wondered what kind of game they would play today. Whether it was hide and seek or tag, LaShawn was ready to pounce and have fun with his dear friend.

Ep 989. Slow Your Roll! a calming bedtime and nap time story for children12 Nov 202500:15:42

When Ronald the Roller rushes through his work, his friends help him remember that going slow and steady builds the strongest sidewalks.

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:47

Slow Your Roll! Excerpt:

The sun peeked through the cracks in the garage door, making stripes of light fall across Ronald’s big front wheel.  The roller yawned a big, sleepy yawn. It always took him a few minutes to wake up all the way, but right now, he already felt excited for what the day held.

Ronald had overheard the construction crew talking yesterday. They were going to start work on a new sidewalk today. But this wouldn’t be just any sidewalk. This one would follow the river, winding along the water’s edge. People would be able to walk there, enjoying the peaceful view as they strolled from place to place. Ronald smiled just picturing it. He couldn’t wait to get started.

Ep 988. Glittering Light: a calming short story for children10 Nov 202500:18:04

Prince Grey and Cashew, the little kitties, notice something new and interesting on the ceiling.

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 3:10

Glittering Light Excerpt:

It was a quiet afternoon on Ahway Island. Sunshine streamed into the cozy house, filling it with golden light. Prince Grey Kitty was curled up in a warm sunbeam on his favorite chair. The chair had flat wooden arms which Prince Grey could sit on and survey his realm, and it had a soft red cushion on the seat that the little cat could snuggle into for a lovely nap.

At first, the sunlight touched only Prince Grey’s back paws, making them toasty warm. But while Prince Grey was sleeping, the sunlight had moved slightly so that, slowly but surely, the sunbeams began covering his entire body, warming his fur, until finally, the beams shined into his face. The bright light in his eyes woke up the little kitty from his nap.

When Tiara Tuna gets a little sandy, she learns that what makes her special isn’t her scales.

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:32

Tiara Tuna loved to visit the coral reef near Ahway Island. It was full of bright colors she didn’t often see in the deeper ocean where she lived. There were vibrant pink corals, shimmering blue rocks, and cheery yellow sea plants.

The reef was always a beautiful place to visit, but Tiara especially liked being here on sunny days. The sunlight made the colors even brighter, the rocks even sparklier, and, best of all, it made Tiara’s silver scales look even shinier.

To play it, Beau and his friends would have to get as close to an iceberg as possible without touching it.

Even though he loved playing ice tag, he usually lost to his fish friends or even the penguins. They were just so fast! But that didn’t matter: Beau always had fun when he was with his friends! Since it was late, he worried he wouldn’t find anyone to play with right now.

Mike can’t find his favorite toy train! Will cleaning up his room help him find his missing toys?

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 4:23

That’s My Meadow! Excerpt:

As Halle glided along, she passed by houses with flower beds of tulips and daisies out front. She went right by the park with its community garden where neighbors grew sunflowers and marigolds. Halle had visited those flowers before, and today she was hoping to find something new and special. She wanted to see what else the morning might bring.

Soon, the breeze guided Halle toward the forest. She followed it happily, weaving up and down and side to side between the trunks of the tall trees. After a little while, the trees around her began to spread apart. More sunshine slipped through the branches. She saw splashes of red, purple, and yellow ahead. As Halle flew closer, she realized that right in front of her was a beautiful meadow full of colorful flowers!

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:55

Pet Playtime Excerpt:

Chris loved going to the Ahway Island Animal Shelter almost every Sunday. He hoped that one day, he could have a pet of his own, a best friend to share everything with. But until then, he was happy to play with all the animals. The animal shelter near his house allowed people who visited the shelter to play with some of the animals.

Recently, the shelter had added some new animals that Chris was very excited to meet, so he and his mom made a trip to the shelter one bright and sunny Sunday afternoon.

Alice waited for the girl to reach the bottom and then she too slid down the slide, giggling as she went. Whee!

Ep 1015. Straw Surprise: a bedtime story with guided meditation for kids04 Feb 202600:16:37

On a nighttime visit to the garden, Rob finds discovers a strange human by the sharing basket and decides to investigate further.

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:20

Straw Surprise Excerpt:

Along the edge of the forest, Rob Raccoon walked quietly by himself. His two best friends, Rebel and Riley Raccoon, were nowhere to be found. They’d all napped down by the creek during the late afternoon, but when Rob woke up, he found that his friends were gone. It was strange because the trio were usually inseparable. Rob figured they would turn up soon. Still, he wanted to know what they were doing. Probably something interesting.

Rob had spent the last couple of hours looking in all their favorite spots for his friends. He’d checked the other side of the point by the lily pads where they liked to hang out and drink water. He also checked the berry patch where they enjoyed eating berries. He checked the hollow tree log they often slept in. Rob had even checked Dragon’s cave, to see if they’d gone to visit Dragon.

Ep 1014. Cave Courtesy: a soothing story and meditation for children02 Feb 202600:16:38

Daisy Beagle catches a new scent on the breeze and follows it through the Ahway Island Forest. What will the curious dog find?

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:40

Cave Courtesy Excerpt:

Daisy tapped her feet excitedly as she found the trail. It was definitely getting clearer the closer she got to the center of the forest. It smelled like a juicy orange, mixed with the flowery scent of a white rose. Daisy smiled. It was a lovely smell indeed.

Soon, the sweet scent drifted to the right, off the main trail. Now, the smell had changed again. A warm vanilla scent had added to the rose and orange layers. The combined scents wafting on the breeze evoked a feeling of someplace warm and caring to the little dog. Daisy slowed at the edge of the path and peeked between two bushes. There were a lot of trees in that direction, but she really wanted to find this interesting smell.

Julia froze at the sound of the loud rumble of thunder. That first thunderclap was quickly followed by several bright flashes of light and more thunder. Then the rain began falling in earnest. The two girls could hear the heavy raindrops pounding against the roof of the house. Julia pulled the blanket over her head to hide.

Gerry Robin and Bert Bluejay take shelter during a thunderstorm.

Narrator: Male

Story Begins: 4:05

Storm Safety Excerpt:

Gerry nodded and took a bite of a berry herself. With the storm closing in, there was no time for small talk. The two birds sat side by side, eating the delicious berries until a boom of thunder rumbled in the distance. Gerry looked towards the clouds. “The storm is almost here,” she noted.

“Yes,” Bert agreed before taking another bite of a berry. Gerry, too, continued to eat. Another crack of thunder exploded in the distance, then a streak of lightning flashed across the sky. Both birds looked up for a moment, then ducked back down to continue to eat.

Ep 1019. Dragon’s Epic Idea: a kids’ relaxation and calming tale18 Feb 202600:16:35

Dragon has an epic idea to hold a game event for Ahway Island! How will it come together?

Narrator: Female

Story Begins: 3:33

Dragon’s Epic Idea Excerpt:

Dragon nodded.  It sounded like a fun thing to watch and possibly to participate in. But these Olympic Games weren’t being held on Ahway Island, and they probably were for humans only, so there would be no way for the creatures on Ahway Island to watch or participate. Unless….

Dragon had a thought. It was more than a thought, really. It was an idea… an epic idea, in fact. They could have their own games competition on Ahway Island, and creatures from all over the island could compete in events that reflect the skills they have practiced for a very long time. Anyone who did not want to compete could be a spectator and enjoy watching the action.
