Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: Union Berlin vs. Bayern Munich (Bundesliga)12 Mar 202500:27:44

Bayern Munich is riding high coming off of a massive Champions League tie victory over Bayer Leverkusen, but the Bavarians have to maintain focus if they want to avoid what looks like an obvious trap game on the schedule.

With the international break looming, Vincent Kompany will have to ensure his team keeps its eye on an underachieving, but capable Union Berlin squad. We will dive deep into that and more during the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show. Here is what we have in tap:

  • A look into where each team falls in the Bundesliga table and some discussion on the recent form of each side.
  • A look back at the first game between the teams earlier this season.
  • A look at the injury/suspension situations for both teams.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: Bayer Leverkusen 0-2 Bayern Munich (Champions League) 11 Mar 202500:29:50

Bayern Munich traveled to Bayer Leverkusen for leg two of its Champions League tie and did what it needed to do — survive. Bayern Munich won 2-0 (5-0 on aggregate) to ice their way to the next round.

It was not the most exciting game, nor was it the most well played, but the Bavarians will move on to the Champions League quarterfinal to face Inter Milan. Let’s dive into this one on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:

Let’s talk about all of that and more on the Bavarian Podcast Work — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:

Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — Hungary 1-1 Germany (UEFA Nations League)19 Nov 202400:27:23

Hosted by Chuck Smith

The German national team took on Hungary in a game that former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann punted used a heavy rotation.

It was never going to be smooth game given all the changes, but Germany eventually outlasted Hungary to scratch out a feisty 1-1 draw — thanks to a goal from Felix Nmecha (!?). and a late handball call on Robin Koch.

Here is what we have on tap for the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:

  • A look at the starting XI.
  • A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
  • Given the performance of Daniel Peretz for Israel and Alexander Nübel for Germany, Bayern Munich could have an embarrassment of riches at goalkeeper.
  • How are we feeling about Germany after this one?

Bavarian Podcast Works S7E17: We’re all in on Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz together at Bayern Munich; Could Hansi Flick lure away Bayern’s talent; Germany is legit; and MORE!18 Nov 202400:43:10

Hosted by Chuck Smith

Bayern Munich is still out of action, but Germany has supplied enough quality to keep our eyes and minds busy, but it is not as if there is not a lot to talk about with the Bavarians.

Let’s take a look at some of the big topics for this week on the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:

  • We’ve fought it the best we could, but it is time to admit that if Bayern Munich has the chance to team up Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz they should get it done as soon as possible.
  • Germany is legit now. Julian Nagelsmann is working magic like we have not seen in a long time. Can he keep it going or is Germany peaking too early?
  • Could Hansi Flick lure away Bayern Munich’s talent? At least one report indicates that the Bavarians are at least a little worried that Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, and....Musiala (!?) could all be drawn to Flick.

Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — Germany 7-0 Bosnia and Herzegovina (UEFA Nations League)17 Nov 202400:27:29

Hosted by Chuck Smith

The German national team destroyed Bosnia and Herzegovina 7-0 in a match that was just an all-out, thorough domination by the Germans from start to finish.

Jamal Musiala’s early goal set the tone for the match, which was as good as the team has looked under Julian Nagelsmann. Somehow — even in a terrific performance — Musiala did not end the game as Germany most impactful player (which tells you just how good Florian Wirtz was).

Needless to say, there was a ton to talk about. Here is what we have on tap for the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:

  • A look at the starting XI.
  • A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
  • Wirtz and Musiala are incredible.
  • Is the backline ready for a primetime showdown with a European power?

Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Special Edition: Breaking down our re-watch of Game of Thrones15 Nov 202401:03:16

Hosted by Chuck Smith

Let’s get this out of the way — this is not a Bayern Munich podcast (for this edition only), so we want to give you a fair warning for anyone seeking Bayern Munich or German national team chatter. However, this “special edition” will not affect your normal schedule...a Weekend Warm-up Show has already dropped at its normal day and time!

So...let’s talk about how this came to be...

After the disappointing second season of House of the Dragon, we had a lot of chatter about Game of Thrones, its legacy as a show, the possibilities for it going forward, etc. From that, an idea was sparked for re-watching the show and assessing if we were all vindicated for feeling so bitter about the ending...or if maybe time had healed some old wounds.

We will explore all of that and more. There are a lot of fun categories we take a look at...the good, the bad, and everything in between.

With Bayern Munich on a hiatus, there was no better time to do this and have all of our minds take a little break from what has been a crazy few weeks for the Bavarians.

So, enjoy this if you are into it...or don’t listen if you are not...just be rest assured, we will be turning back to our normal coverage ASAP!

Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 4, Episode 18: Bayern Munich and Jamal Musiala might be nearing a deal; Bayern could be shopping a wing; How does Paul Wanner fit in?; João Palhinha’s injury isn’t the end of the world; and MORE!14 Nov 202400:38:35

Hosted by Chuck Smith

Bayern Munich is on break, but there is no shortage of topics to talk about. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:

  • Breaking down the report from Sport1 about Bayern Munich’s rumored proposal to Jamal Musiala. What kind of money? How long? Why none of that really matters as much as having the ability now start to build around him as the club’s centerpiece.
  • Bayern Munich is reportedly going to offload at least one winger this summer...who will it be? Can Paul Wanner help fill the void without Bayern having to spend for a replacement?
  • João Palhinha is injured and some fans are unraveling, but it is not the end of the world even against a daunting schedule.
  • Final thoughts on The Penguin.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: Germany vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary (UEFA Nations League)13 Nov 202400:36:03

Hosted by: Chuck Smith

Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann will lead the German national team into another set of UEFA Nations League games.

This time, Germany will face off with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary in what should be more matches for the Germans to build momentum on the road to the 2026 World Cup.

Nagelsmann will be dealing with the normal obstacles like injuries and illnesses, but the squad has enough depth and versatility to cover whatever pops up (it also does not hurt that Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala might be the hottest player in Europe at the moment).

Let’s just jump into, this is what we have in tap for this episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show:

  • A look at Nagelsmann’s impact on the team and how things are going.
  • Addressing some of what we know in terms of injured players and illnesses.
  • Analyzing what to expect from each position group.
  • Predictions on each match.

We also witnessed the start of life under Dieter Hecking for VfL Bochum, a still ineffective VfB Stuttgart, and Bayern Munich steadily leading the march toward an unexciting title race.

Additionally, this episode covers:

  • Why Sebastian Hoeneß’s VfB Stuttgart are facing a serious consistency problem.
  • Why Eintracht Frankfurt are loving life under Dino Toppmöller?
  • A brief history and societal context surrounding the ‘miserably charming’ city of Bochum and its beloved football club.
  • Dieter Hecking’s eyebrows!

Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — St Pauli 0-1 Bayern Munich (Bundesliga)09 Nov 202400:14:59

Bayern Munich faced recently promoted FC St Pauli in a game everyone thought Bayern would run off with. But that wasn’t exactly the case. St Pauli put up an incredible performance against Der Rekordmeister tonight, with a rock solid defense and a creative offense (something Bayern lacked) that they used to hold their own. After a hard fought game like tonight’s, there’s bound to be loads to analyze.

So let’s get right into it on this edition of our postgame show:

  • A quick review of what was different tonight, and what it meant for the rest of the game
  • A (mostly) critical analysis of Bayern’s midfield and offense, and why Leon Goretzka doesn’t start anymore
  • FC St. Pauli’s surprisingly solid performance today on the big stage
  • Jamal Musiala is Vincent Kompany’s machine
  • Can Bayern do better than this?

Bayern Munich is in the midst of a scorching hot stretch and Harry Kane has been a big part of the team’s success.

So why is Bayern Munich already seeking another striker when Kane’s deal does not end until 2027? Apparently, the planning has begun and there are a lot of options under consideration...but who will be the ultimate selection? That is a big question and we’ll discuss it.

  • What should we make of the striker update? Viktor Yourkeresh
  • A #Project2026 update.
  • Wingers are at the forefront of our discussion once again.

Bayern Munich is back and looking powerful, but can it last? A lot of that will depend on how the team continues to come together over the course of this season.

Given that, there are several key issues that could play out in the coming weeks, which could affect some lineup decisions. Let’s talk about all of that and more:

  • Jamal Musiala seems more like to extend his contract than ever. What does this mean for the squad planning process moving forward?
  • If Leroy Sané is eventually unhappy at Bayern Munich this season, it looks like he will have the chance to skip town pretty easily.
  • Are we witnessing the final months of Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer at Bayern Munich?
  • The Entertainment Rundown.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: VfB Stuttgart 1-3 Bayern Munich (Bundesliga)28 Feb 202500:38:28

Bayern Munich traveled to the MHP Arena to face VfB Stuttgart in a match that fell at a poor time for the Bavarians.

With the Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen just a few days away, Bayern Munich looked a bit out of sorts and distracted. When factoring in that Vincent Kompany used some combinations of players, who do not typically always play together, it made for some uneven play at times.

That said, Bayern Munich fought through some tough times, showed some resilience, and pulled away for a hard-fought 3-1 victory. Let’s talk about how it all went down and more on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:

  • A look at the starting XI - what worked and what didn’t.
  • A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
  • Some final thoughts and takeaways on the match.

Bayern Munich visited VfL Bochum and took care of business, though it was not in an overly convincing way. Dominant? Yes. Convincing? Well...it was poor competition, so it is tough to say. At least Bayern Munich did what it needed to do.

  • A look at the starting XI.
  • A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
  • Bayern Munich dominated, but had a couple of lapses. Against better teams that could be trouble (again).

Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 4, Episode 15: Talking Bayern Munich and MORE!25 Oct 202401:01:16

Bayern Munich ran the gamut of emotions from “We’re back!” during a 4-0 victory over VfB Stuttgart to “Oh, no!” after getting dismantled 4-1 by FC Barcelona in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich will look to bounce back from its Champions League defeat at the hands of FC Barcelona with a Bundesliga game against a VfL Bochum squad that is in complete turmoil.

Will Bayern Munich play angry and show resilience or will they sulk and meander through an unmotivated effort against an inferior team? This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show:

Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: FC Barcelona 4-1 Bayern Munich (Champions League)23 Oct 202400:39:36

Bayern Munich travelled to Spain to take on FC Barcelona...but this was not your older brother’s Barca.

Hansi Flick had his team aggressive, creative, and relentless (shades of his tenure at Bayern Munich) and maybe most importantly, Flick had his squad prepared to take advantage of Bayern Munich’s iffy backline — and that is exactly what the Catalans did to snare a 4-1 victory.

Needless to say, there is a TON to talk about, so let’s do it. Here is what we have on tap for the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:

  • A look at the starting XI.
  • A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
  • Neither coach backed down from their aggressive tactics.
  • Why Bayern Munich’s lack of awareness and discipline on the backline is (and has been a problem).
  • Missing on Hansi Flick this summer is a decision that will continue to be rued.
  • Yup, we are Frustrated, Inc.
  • Where does Bayern Munich go from here?

Bavarian Podcast Works S7E13: Could Bayern Munich really lose to FC Barcelona? Discussing Lewy vs Kane, Kompany vs Flick, Yamal vs Musiala, and an unthinkable outcome21 Oct 202401:03:43

Few things are inevitable in football, but Bayern Munich vs FC Barcelona has certainly felt that way in recent years. The two FCBs have an incredibly lopsided record in the UEFA Champions League, with Bayern not just winning games, but winning them by some margin, year after year, ad nauseam.

The links between these two clubs are numerous — Barca employ former Bayern Munich men in both Robert Lewandowski and Hansi Flick. Flick especially was considered for the coaching position at Bayern before Vincent Kompany was hired. That makes this game more emotionally charged than usual.

In this episode, INNN and Michael discuss the following:

  • Who should be on the starting lineup? Should Thomas Müller play? Does Serge Gnabry keep starting?
  • Who are the most dangerous players on the Barca side? Lamine Yamal vs Jamal Musiala, and the curious case of Raphinha.
  • How Barca’s attack stacks up against the Bayern Munich defense.
  • Why Bayern has an advantage attacking the Barca defense.
  • Discussing the two strikers — Harry Kane vs Robert Lewandowski. Who is better?
  • What if Vincent Kompany loses? Where do we go next?

In this episode, we discuss the following:

  • Tim Kleindienst didn’t do enough to earn a return

So...is there anything important going on at Bayern Munich?

Obviously, the recent news on Joshua Kimmich has taken center-stage, so we will dive fully into that situation, while also offering up an appreciation of the club as it celebrates its 125th Anniversary. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:

  • The breaking news that Bayern Munich pulled its contract extension offer from Joshua Kimmich left many observers stunned. What does it mean? Where do the two side go from here? Does Kimmich have other options? WIll Bayern add another midfielder to the mix this summer if Kimmich walks?

Bavarian Podcast Works S7E12: Germany could be a problem; Bayern Munich’s schism with Matthijs de Ligt; and MORE!13 Oct 202400:49:10

Even when Bayern Munich is on a break, there are ample subjects to talk about.

We will definitely tackle some hot topics brewing in Bavaria, but the German national team is also looking like things are clicking under Julian Nagelsmann, so let’s hop right into some chatter about why things are going so well at the moment:

  • Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany is — gasp! — inspiring. The former Bayern Munich boss is really connecting with this group and something special could be brewing for 2026.
  • Dissecting those Matthijs de Ligt rumors. Did Bayern Munich let him go because he was making too much money...or because he was spending too much time pumping iron in the gym? Or...are these stories just nonsense being floated out there?
  • Details on a deal between Bayern Munich star ALphonso Davies and Real Madrid have leaked. Will the Bavarians be able to match what Real Madrid is offering the Canadian star? Do they even want to? Let’s discuss.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: Bosnia and Herzegovina 1-2 Germany (Nations League)11 Oct 202400:17:05

Well, that was easy. While it wasn’t a 5-0 drubbing like the Hungary game during the last international break, Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany side demonstrated their superiority while barely allowing Bosnia and Herzegovina an inch.

In this episode, we discuss the following:

  • The lineup that Julian Nagelsmann picked, and the absence of a certain Bayern Munich player.
  • Deniz Undav may be the striker that Germany are looking for.
  • How a terrible pitch kept Germany from playing their game.
  • Why you can say “a win’s a win” after this one.
  • Alexander Nübel didn’t exactly cover himself in glory, but that’s not the point.
  • Why games like these clog up the calendar and are simply ridiculous.

Bavarian Podcast Works S7E11: Has Vincent Kompany been exposed? + Why is Harry Kane going missing for Bayern Munich? + Manuel Neuer, time to move on?06 Oct 202401:09:35

Well, that was a miserable week. After suffering a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa, Bayern Munich head into October international break after a devastating 3-3 draw to Eintracht Frankfurt. After three games without a win, Vincent Kompany’s meteoric rise at the Bavarian capital has come to a standstill.

In this episode, INNN and Samrin discuss the following:

  • How this game repeats a pattern we have seen before.
  • What is wrong with the defense? Is it the system or the players?
  • Thomas Müller made a difference in attack, but it wasn’t enough.
  • Harry Kane has gone missing for three games in a row — what’s going on with him?
  • Has Kompany’s system been exposed? What can he change to make it better?
