Mari and Melissande face each other at the "domo" of Trepagny, and Melissande asserts her authority. When Trepagny arrives home, he sides with Melissandre-- which ultimately leads to Mari's decision to move out with her son. In Wobik, Mathilde confronts Cooke and lets him know that she has Renardette in her custody. Mathilde begs Cooke to do no harm to the young girl, but can we really trust Cooke's promises? We also learn that Delphine's would-be husband broke things off with her because of the "woodcutter's mark" on her stomach. Delphine discusses this with Melissandre... who tells Delphine about her own secret in order to help Delphine get past what's happened to her. Later, Trepagny, Bouchard, and a group of men search for Rene and Father Gabriel, and they discover the two with a group of Iroquois. Chaos ensues, and most of the party end up dead. Trepagny, Bouchard, and Rene flee and end up heading back to Wobik... where, unbeknownst to Trepagny, Melissandre is staying at the inn. On episodes three and four of Barksins season one, Trepagny has decided he will find his wife through the fille du roi program. He arrives at the dance, where the eligible young women are waiting. Melissandre notices him, and she seduces Trepagny before walking away and leaving him with anticipation. In episode four, they are wed and arrive at his property-- only for Melissandre to discover that he's got a "maid." What will happen once Melissandre discovers he has a child with this woman? Back in town, Mathilde reveals Cooke's involvement in the murder of the settlers. She speaks of this to the captain, and he in turn confronts Cooke in the town square, leaving Cooke in the center. Duquet, who has gone to "kill" Thom, returns to wait by Cooke's side. Meanwhile, Sels has been captured by the Iroquois after they shot him with an arrow. Will Mari be able to step in and save him? Or is Sels done? Goames has brought the girl from the forest, along with the priest, back to the village. Tensions rise once we learn that Elisha Cook was behind the pillaging of the settlement, and Cook warns that this must not be information that gets out. He hires his men to take care of this. Specifically, Cooke sends Gus LaFarge after the girl and the priest-- and Gus enlists the help of the young boy, Thom, who ends up stabbing Mathilde and sneaking away with the girl. The priest goes unscathed. Thom and the girl run right into Trepagny, who has just found out he's to have a wife courtesy of the fille du roi program. Fortunately for the young girl, Trepagny knocks Tom down, and she escapes. The episode ends with Trepagny traipsing into the dark forest-- and singing of the light. Rene Sel and Charles Duquet arrives as indentured servants in New France in the late 1600s. They are purchased by Claude Trepagny who takes them to his cabin deep in the woods. Charles is not doing so well but connects a little with Mari over the spoiled ram secret they keep. Mr. Cooke appears to have some secret business with Lafarge, and Mathilde also seems to be involved. Hamish Goames with Yvon are on a mission to discover what happened to Mr Cross.
