| Monique Powell (Save Ferris) | 28 avr. 2025 | 00:54:50 | |
It's a BRAND NEW episode of Bakotunes! I'm honored to welcome my guest Monique Powell of Save Ferris to the show! It was an opportunity I could not pass up and after a few tech delays, it finally happened. Monique and I go back to the early days of the band in Orange County, gigging alongside ska homies Reel Big Fish and more before getting swept up in the third wave ska craze and a hit single - a cover of Dexy's Midnight Runners 80s classic, "Come On Eileen"! That was followed with tours across the globe and back, in the van, and of course, tons of sweaty ska shows packed with sweaty, skankin' checkerboard kids. It was the nineties and it was a blast. Lots of fun facts and ska time warping! We also have classic Save Ferris music and their latest single, "Get Dancing!" that just dropped at all music outlets on 4/25. Enjoy! https://saveferris.com/ Sponsored by Chain Cohn Clark - Kern County's leading accident, injury, and workers' compensation law firm. | Kellie Pickler | 16 avr. 2025 | 00:24:20
Kellie Pickler deserves her flowers... I remember this interview before her performance at the Kern County Fair in 2011, and she was by far one of the nicest artists I've interviewed. Longtime fans know her story from Sonic car hop waitress to American Idol to the big time, but behind the scenes Kellie Pickler has also rolled the painful punches of life. I haven't heard what she's been up to lately, but if she or her fans find their way to this episode - find a way to get her back onstage and in the studio! Episode features the songs, "Red High Heels" and "I Wonder". Sponsored by Chain Cohn Clark - Kern County's leading accident, injury, and workers' compensation law firm. | Sheryl Crow | 09 avr. 2025 | 00:16:15
One of the shortest interviews I've ever had, but even 5-minutes with Sheryl Crow is bound to be a blast...and it was! I've been a fan since "Tuesday Night Music Club" and in 2011 I had the pleasure of connecting with Sheryl during her tour in support of her album "100 Miles From Memphis." Includes the songs, "100 Miles From Memphis" and "All I Wanna Do". A midweek Bakotunes bonus episode to help save you from the blahs with one of the best singer-songwriters around, Sheryl Crow! | Shontice Marie: Second Act | 05 juin 2024 | 01:25:21
Shontice Marie is a singer-songwriter from Bakersfield, CA. Her name and voice may sound familiar to Kern County/Central Valley music fans during her stint as lead vocalist of popular Cali reggae roots band, Hayesfield, who made a name for themselves during the mid aughts, performing and releasing original music. During this time, I also met and established a friendship with the group, featuring them on a 2006 episode of the Bakotunes podcast (which you will hear during this episode, live from Vinny's Bar!), inclusion on the Bakotopia Music Compilation Vol. I (local music comp.), and booking them on shows with my band Mento Buru. In the years to follow, the band parted ways taking members into very different, and in some cases, chaotic life paths. Now, Shontice is back with a new positive outlook on life that includes motherhood, a busy career, and BACK to new music onstage and in the studio. An inspiring country-fied roots, musical second act you are sure to enjoy. Songs included in this episode: "Baja California" - Hayesfield, live in-studio performances of "Sunshine" and "Lipstick Outlaw", plus a special bonus: "Backdoor" by Hayesfield.
