This week, we head into the misty Appalachian woods with Hellboy: The Crooked Man — a reboot that almost had something going for it. The folk-horror vibes are strong, the creature design has some genuinely cool moments, and the idea of a darker, stripped-down Hellboy story? We were into it… in theory.

But somewhere between the budget cosplay prosthetics, the pacing issues, and a script that sounds like it was written during a séance, it all goes straight to streaming purgatory. Still, we’ll give it this — it’s not the worst Hellboy movie ever made. (But it’s close.)
