| Every Arts to Hearts Book. Including the One That Went Wrong ┃S6E2 | 26 May 2026 | 00:11:23 | |
In this solo episode of the Arts to Hearts Podcast, Charuka Arora, Founder of the Arts to Hearts Project pulls back the curtain on what it actually takes to make an Arts to Hearts book. From the six-month timeline behind every release, to running open calls, jury processes, and curating both emerging and established artists, Charuka walks through the full publishing journey. She also gets honest about the mess: the factory mix-up that turned a soft-cover magazine into a hard-cover sample, the 4-step proofing process her small team relies on to catch errors, and the 300+ artist interviews they handle every single month. If you've ever wondered what goes into building a contemporary art publication from scratch including the parts no one shows you this one's for you.

| How artists can find art collectors |Quang Bao| | 08 Feb 2024 | 00:37:18 | |
On this week's Arts to Hearts Podcast, we have Quang Bao, who is a gallerist and feels passionately about art. As our host Charuka Arora sits down to interview him, the duo talks about the challenges and upsides of being a gallerist, how artists can sell their art more effectively, and the diversity and inclusion in the art world. Quang has been running his own gallery for quite some time now. He shares his process of choosing an artist and their artwork. While a painting can sometimes click, most of the time, his job revolves around seeing and predicting the potential of it all so he can make a decision. Quang also talks about the upside of being a gallerist, which is that he is given the freedom and flexibility to do his work on his own terms, something that does not exist in other fields. On the other hand, for a gallery owner, the paperwork and being behind the desk can be a difficult job. In the midst of it all, Quang tries to find a balance between perceiving things as a businessman and trying to stick to the values he and his gallery represent, which is to promote the inclusion of women and other minorities in the art world. For Quang, working with artists can also be an interesting experience as they feel everything so very deeply. He gets to be a part of their world, and he loves that. He believes that in order for artists to sell their work, it's important that they connect with other people and try to work with the gallerists instead of doing it all on their own. To listen to Quang share more insights into his work as a gallerist, tune in to this week's podcast!

| Katie Rodgers' advice for artists on connecting with their inner voice | 05 Oct 2023 | 00:51:22 | |
In the latest episode of Arts to Hearts Podcast, Charuka Arora sits down with the fantastic Katie Rodgers. In the world of fashion, Katie has made a name for herself because of her paper fashion and use of water colors. Now, she is reconnecting to her roots by solely focusing on her imaginative play with the natural world. Katie started as a fashion illustrator in New York and created the website Paper Fashion in 2009. From working with renowned brands like Estée Lauder, Samsung, and Clé de Peau Beauté to working with Alicia Keys, the Boston Ballet, and the Screen Actors Guild, she has built an extensive portfolio. Her work has also been featured in Harper's Bazaar, Elle Magazine, Vanity Fair, and The New York Times. Katie has worked in a variety of mediums including 3D installations, illustrative pastels, and animation for commercial projects as well as fine art. She spent around 9 years in New York, before she realized that the life she has built is too fast paced. In this episode, Katie talks about all her accomplishments and the work she has done over the past decade, and what prompted her to change directions. It's not easy to build a successful life and then pack it all up to start all over again, but Katie did it! While Katie's art brought her clients and created a stable life for her in New York, she has always felt more connected with nature. Camping and traveling are some of the things where she feels free, and deep down, she always longed for that slow, mindful life. For Katie, it's important to listen to her inner voice as she talks about the challenges she faced when she made the decision to move to the countryside. In Katie, every artist can find that inspiration to keep evolving, even if it means leaving behind everything they have ever known. To find out more, tune in to this week's podcast and listen to the unstoppable Katie Rodgers talk about how she constantly challenges herself and why it's important for artists to push their limits.

| How Danielle Krysa used art to process her grief | 21 Dec 2023 | 01:30:15 | |
This week on our Arts to Hearts Podcast we have Danielle Krysa, aka The Jealous Curator, as our guest. As our host Charuka Arora sits down with Danielle to talk about grief and art, Danielle shares her journey after losing her father, and how she found the courage to continue. Danielle has been an artist for over a decade now, and while she has written books including Creative Block and Collage and Your Inner Critic Is A Big Jerk, she also runs an influential contemporary art blog. Danielle Krysa's other identity came into being as a result of her self-doubts in the beginning of her career. She was scared to show her work to the world and be judged for it as Danielle, and so she curated another identity where she presented her work as The Jealous Curator. Here, she felt safe from all the harsh comments and critiques. Danielle has come a long way now, where over the years, she has found it easier to reconcile her two identities and be confident in her abilities. In this episode, Danielle opens up about losing her father, and finding her voice after that. Losing a parent came with grief and the trauma, and for Danielle, it was a difficult time in her life. For a while, she struggled to return to her creative space to be an artist, and questioned the trajectory of her life. But as she learned to give herself time to heal, she began to re-discover herself. She started to use art as therapy, and slowed down instead of rushing everything. She changed her outlook towards art, and instead of creating something to sell, she began to learn to enjoy her craft and live in the moment. To listen to Danielle talk in depth about her journey towards healing and self-discovery, tune in to this week's podcast. | The biggest limiting belief artists have| Nicholas Wilton| | 21 Mar 2024 | 00:26:05
This week on the Arts to Hearts Podcast, we are hosting Nicholas Wilton who is the founder of the Art2Life Creativity workshops and classes. In this episode, Nicholas talks about finding joy in his work, the limiting beliefs artists have, and the vulnerable moment in his life that pushed him toward becoming the creative visionary he is today! Nicholas has always been an artist, and as he gained experience from his own journey, he decided to help others achieve that as well. He started with small destination workshops and taught online. With the assistance of his team, he helps people find who they are as artists. In the meantime, Nicholas has not forgotten his passion and continues to make art in his own studio. Something Nicholas has learned over the years is that artists have little faith in themselves, and that is something that can really hinder their growth. Nicholas thinks that artists today are limited by the belief that some artists are more gifted than others. He argues that each individual has their own set of skills and is as capable as anyone else. Realizing this is the first small step you can take to build that self-confidence in yourself. Another mistake that artists often make is that they compare themselves to others and worry whether they will be able to sell art. Comparison is the thief of joy, and Nicholas thinks that it can truly shatter your self-esteem. Instead of looking at other people's art, it's important that you focus on your work and be authentic, and only then you can begin to take control of your narrative! In this podcast, Nicholas shares many more insightful tips on how you can connect with your inner artist and do what you love, so tune in and listen to the entire episode! Arts to Hearts Project is thrilled to announce the launch of our new call for art for a virtual exhibition, accompanied by the creation of an exquisite artist's book. | Why artists need to be more mindful on social media |Jennifer Rizzo| | 18 Apr 2024 | 00:51:02
On this week's Arts to Hearts Podcast, we have Jennifer Rizzo as our guest. Jennifer is a partner and director of Hashimoto Contemporary, and her focus is emerging contemporary art. In this episode, Jennifer talks about the hardest part of being in the gallery business, how she connects curators with artists, and how she feels about posting art on social media. For Jennifer, being in the gallery business is gratifying as she is able to do what she has always wanted to do; help other artists. With her skill set and years of experience in this business, Jennifer has learned quite a few things about curating shows and exhibitions. There is nothing Jennifer enjoys more than being able to witness the process and behind-the-scenes of an art show. As a gallerist, Jennifer has some tips to share for artists which include doing research and finding a gallery that is the right fit for them. It's all about building those tiny bridges and creating a community, and Jennifer is spilling the beans on that! Jennifer and Charuka also have a heart-to-heart about how sharing work with the world can be daunting for some artists, and what can be done to get over that fear. Moreover, as a gallerist, Jennifer also emphasizes the importance of trust between a gallerist and an artist, and how artists must learn to have more faith in their abilities. Another fascinating topic Jennifer and Charuka touch upon is the power of social media and how artists need to curate their online image. Jennifer thinks that it's important that artists focus more on authentically showing their art and process, rather than worrying about the aesthetics of their Instagram feed. Don't miss out on this insightful conversation as Jennifer sheds light on art and the gallery business, and tune in to this week's full episode! | Artist to Author: Shelby McFadden on writing her book Groove Hallow Series | 19 Oct 2023 | 00:50:30
This week, our podcast host Charuka Arora has a heart-to-heart with Shelby Nicole McFadden, who has just published her first book Grove Hollow series. From an artist to a graphic designer to a business owner, Shelby wears many hats. Now, she is proudly embracing her new role as a writer, which according to her, has always been a dream of hers. Shelby has always been quite imaginative, and she has used it to her advantage while writing her very first book, Grove Hollow Hollow Metamorphosis. This book is the first of a four-part series, and Shelby cannot wait to start on her second book! Throughout her journey of transitioning into a writer, Shelby has had her doubts and fears. Even after she has written her first book, she is overcome with her imposter syndrome at times. However, she has never let those doubts get the better of her, and has strived to manage both the writing and marketing aspects on her own. Shelby hopes to see her book adapted into a series or a movie one day, and her ambitions should be aspiring to all the artists and creatives out there. As a working mom with 2 kids, Shelby McFadden's writing schedule depends on her kids' schedule, and all mothers will agree that it's not an easy business. Despite having to jump through these extra hoops, Shelby has not let anything get in the way of expressing her creativity through her words and visuals. For her, the work matters not because of its monetary value, but because she simply wants to share with the world what she has created. That may be the secret ingredient to Shelby's triumphs, as she knows there is only one way forward and that is onwards and upwards! Shelby describes her first book as "an enthralling gothic paranormal journey" that is loaded with "intricate narratives, mysterious plotlines, and fantastical elements". The story takes place in a town called Grove Hollow, where our main character, Jade, moves in with her great aunt. Things begin to unravel as she uncovers mysterious secrets about her family lineage. As she works to come to terms with the crazy history of her family, she comes across a cursed locket that that turns her life upside down! Tune in to this week's podcast and find out about Shelby's transition to a fiction writer and how she was able to create such fascinating characters. | How to overcome your limiting beliefs as an artist |Tanmaya Bingham| | 01 Feb 2024 | 00:59:30
This week on our Arts to Hearts Podcast, we have Tanmaya Bingham as our guest who is not only amazing at creating art but also mentors and teaches younger artists. With her experience with art management, she has seen all the cycles in the art world, the good and the bad both. Now, she is using her gifts and insights to serve other artists. As our host Charuka Arora sits down with Tanmaya, the latter talks about the early stages of her art career, what her ambitions and dreams were, and how she was able to evolve and grow over the years. While Tanmaya started as an abstract artist, she shifted her focus to drawing people. Her journey as an artist consists of highs and lows, both of which have played an important role in her growth as a creative. Just like every other creative, Tanmaya also had her fair share of self-doubts, which she addressed by traveling to various places including Nepal and India. These experiences really helped shift her perspective on what she was or wasn't meant to be. For her, having a full-time art career was not a possibility until she spent some time in India, a time which helped open her eyes to the various possibilities that lay in front of her. Tanmaya believes in putting yourself out there as an artist, as it is only then that you can go through a transformation that will be beneficial to you and your creativity. She believes that the negative phases in life are as much, if not more, important than the positive phases. As artists, we must embrace life as it comes, with all that it has to offer, and only then we can unleash our true potential as creative! Tune in to this week's podcast and listen to Tanmaya talk more about her creative transitions and learning curves as an artist! We are calling women artists from around the globe for our upcoming event, the "101 Art Book Contest", which aims to boost recognition, fame, and exposure for female artists.
