Folks - we are coming up on episode 500 of Another World Audiobooks (!!!) and I want to celebrate it the right way - with you! I'm putting together a special listener episode and I would love to hear from you.
If you enjoy AWA, it would mean THE WORLD to me to have you record a quick audio note or video and send it to anotherworldaudiobooks@gmail.com - you can tell where in the world you're listening from, what you do while you listen to the show (workout, cleaning, commute, etc.), how you found the podcast, how long you've been listening, maybe your favorite book or episode or moment from the show - whatever!!!
If recording isn't your thing, an email works too and I'll just read it on the show! The sooner you can get them to me, the better:) but the "hard deadline" is November 15, 2026 👍
This show exists because of you and I want episode 500 to sound like it. Can't wait to hear from you!!!
If you enjoyed this episode, would you mind telling a friend about the podcast??:) It's really the only way the show can grow (and really the only way I'll be able to continue putting out episodes for you)!

Chapters 34-37 - Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne
Saison 26 · Épisode 17
dimanche 16 août 2026 • Durée 32:02
Chapter 34 - In Which Phileas Fogg at Last Reaches London Chapter 35 - In Which Phileas Fogg Does Not Have to Repeat His Orders to Passepartout Twice Chapter 36 - In Which Phileas Fogg's Name Is Once More at a Premium on 'Change Chapter 37 - In Which It Is Shown That Phileas Fogg Gained Nothing by His Tour Around the World, Unless It Were Happiness
This is it. Four chapters to close the book, and Verne sticks the landing beautifully.
The Reform Club gets its answer. And that final chapter title says it all, really. Phileas Fogg went around the world in eighty days and came back with something he never would have predicted when he left.
It has been an absolute pleasure narrating this one, and I mean that. Verne wrote something genuinely special here - a story that moves like a machine and somehow still finds room for a real human heart at the center of it. Hope you've enjoyed this one as much as I have! Stay tuned for a NEW BOOK coming next week!

Chapters 32 & 33 - Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne
Saison 26 · Épisode 16
dimanche 9 août 2026 • Durée 24:42
Chapter 32 - In Which Phileas Fogg Engages in a Direct Struggle with Bad Fortune
Chapter 33 - In Which Phileas Fogg Shows Himself Equal to the Occasion
After everything this journey has thrown at him, Bad Fortune decides to show up in person.
Chapter 32 puts Fogg in what might be the most genuinely difficult position of the entire trip - not a logistical puzzle to be solved with money or clockwork precision, but a straight fight with circumstances that don't care about his schedule. Then Chapter 33 answers the question that title raises immediately: yes, he is equal to the occasion. But the way he gets there is worth every minute of this episode.

Chapters 30 & 31 - Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne
Saison 26 · Épisode 15
dimanche 2 août 2026 • Durée 26:54
Chapter 30 - In Which Phileas Fogg Simply Does His Duty
Chapter 31 - In Which Fix, the Detective, Considerably Furthers the Interests of Phileas Fogg
Fogg doing his duty sounds routine. In this context it is anything but.
Chapter 30 gives us a side of Phileas Fogg that the whole book has been quietly building toward - and it's worth the wait. Then Chapter 31 has Fix, of all people, doing something that actually helps Fogg. The detective who has been a thorn in this journey's side for thousands of miles makes a choice in this one that changes everything.
If you enjoyed this episode, would you mind telling a friend about the podcast??:) It's really the only way the show can grow (and really the only way I'll be able to continue putting out episodes for you)! Thanks a million!!!
For all things Another World, go to (seriously, you should - I'm giving away a FREE audiobook to anyone who goes to the website & requests it!!!)
Chapters 28 & 29 - Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne
Saison 26 · Épisode 14
dimanche 26 juillet 2026 • Durée 30:36
Chapter 28 - In Which Passepartout Does Not Succeed in Making Anybody Listen to Reason
Chapter 29 - In Which Certain Incidents Are Narrated Which Are Only to Be Met With on American Railroads
Passepartout has something important to say and absolutely nobody wants to hear it.
Chapter 28 is a masterclass in frustration - our man can see exactly what's coming and cannot get a single person to take him seriously, which is both very funny and increasingly alarming. Then Chapter 29 delivers on the promise of that title in the most Verne way possible. "Certain incidents only to be met with on American railroads" is doing a lot of work as a description, and the chapter earns every bit of it.
If you enjoyed this episode, would you mind telling a friend about the podcast??:) It's really the only way the show can grow (and really the only way I'll be able to continue putting out episodes for you)! Thanks a million!!!
Chapters 26 & 27 - Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne
Saison 26 · Épisode 13
dimanche 19 juillet 2026 • Durée 26:30
Chapter 26 - In Which Phileas Fogg and Party Travel by the Pacific RailroadChapter 27 - In Which Passepartout Undergoes, at a Speed of Twenty Miles an Hour, a Course of Mormon History
America by rail, and Verne is clearly delighted to be writing it.
Chapter 26 puts the whole party on the Pacific Railroad - the transcontinental line that was, at the time this book was written, one of the genuine wonders of the modern world, and Verne treats it as such. Then Chapter 27 gives Passepartout a captive audience situation he did not ask for and cannot escape, courtesy of a very enthusiastic Mormon gentleman with a lot of history to cover and a long stretch of track to cover it on.
Honestly Passepartout deserves a rest. He is not getting one. Let's go.

Chapters 24 & 25 - Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne
Saison 26 · Épisode 12
dimanche 12 juillet 2026 • Durée 27:20
Chapter 24 - In Which Mr. Fogg and Party Cross the Pacific Ocean
Chapter 25 - In Which a Slight Glimpse Is Had of San Francisco
The Pacific Ocean. The longest leg of the journey, and Verne dispatches it with characteristic efficiency.
Chapter 24 gets the whole party across the Pacific in the way Fogg does everything - on schedule, without sentiment, and without once stopping to appreciate how remarkable it is that they're doing it. Then Chapter 25 lands us in San Francisco, and "a slight glimpse" is Verne being modest — there's enough happening in this chapter to make an impression.
If you enjoyed this episode, would you mind telling a friend about the podcast??:) It's really the only way the show can grow (and really the only way I'll be able to continue putting out episodes for you)! Thanks a million!!!
Chapters 22 & 23 - Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne
Saison 26 · Épisode 11
dimanche 5 juillet 2026 • Durée 31:20
Chapter 22 - In Which Passepartout Finds Out That, Even at the Antipodes, It Is Convenient to Have Some Money in One's Pocket
Chapter 23 - In Which Passepartout's Nose Becomes Outrageously Long
Passepartout learns a lesson that honestly should not have needed learning at this point in the journey.
Chapter 22 finds him in a situation that a little money would have solved immediately — money he does not have — and Verne wrings every bit of comedy out of it that he possibly can. Then Chapter 23 has Passepartout's nose growing outrageously long, which is not literal but is somehow even better than if it were.
If you enjoyed this episode, would you mind telling a friend about the podcast??:) It's really the only way the show can grow (and really the only way I'll be able to continue putting out episodes for you)! Thanks a million!!!
