| Peter Thiel, the Antichrist and the battle to control AI | 17 Sep 2026 | 00:28:52 | |
Freddy Gray is joined by Michael P. Gibson, co-founder of the 1517 Fund, to discuss the weekend's warnings about AI catastrophe from Anthropic's Dario Amodei, Elon Musk and others, and the Trump administration's insistence on a light touch. Freddy and Michael discuss why Michael thinks the warnings should be read alongside Anthropic and OpenAI's plans to go public in the next six to nine months; how the role of Silicon Valley villain passes to whichever lab has the strongest model; why data centres, and now AI safety, have become Democratic talking points ahead of the midterms; why Michael believes existing product liability law already does the job; and why Peter Thiel suspects a one world body to regulate AI, sold in the name of peace and safety, could be the project of the Antichrist. Freddy Gray is joined by Rep. Randy Fine, the Republican congressman for Florida's 6th district, to speak about his viral post, calling for a four-state solution for the United Kingdom. Fine discuss his claim that 38 states are ready to boycott British companies that comply with the sanctions, why he blames European allies for a war with Iran he insists is being won, whether the Falklanders' votes to remain British count for anything, and why he says Britain's Israel policy is a play for voters who 'never should have been in the country in the first place'. | Just how bad are the polls for the Republicans ? | 22 Aug 2026 | 00:28:26
Freddy Gray is joined by James Johnson, co-founder of JL Partners, on why the midterms are looking increasingly grim for the Republicans. Trump's approval is trending down, the war is dragging on it, and James expects differential turnout to hand the Democrats the House, possibly with more than 230 seats. Freddy and James discuss why a Senate map that should have been safe for Republicans is now a toss-up, which six states will decide it, why prediction markets are not the answer, and why Michigan and its DSA-aligned candidate may be the one seat that saves Trump's majority. Freddy and Andrew examine why the Iranian strike on the Navy's supply base in Bahrain has left the fleet resupplying from Diego Garcia, why Trump has ordered $50 billion of new launch systems ripped out and steam catapults put back, and whether Trump is now trapped in a war he can never admit he has not won. Freddy Gray is joined by Jacob Heilbrunn, editor of The National Interest and a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, for a tour around the houses of Trumpworld. Karoline Leavitt has resigned as White House press secretary, officially to spend more time with her young family, and Washington is busy deciding whether to believe it. Freddy and Jacob discuss who might replace her and what the exit says about the mood inside the West Wing; why Trump's approval rating has sunk to a level last seen under Nixon in 1974; whether the wars in Ukraine and Iran are edging the world towards something larger; and why Jacob thinks a presidency that broke every rule about who can reach the White House may end up clearing the path for AOC. | What have Britons got against America? | 14 May 2026 | 00:38:17
British favourability dropped sharply sometime around 2016 and then further declined in 2024. Trump is clearly the main driver of negative feelings, although not the only one. There was much antipathy in 2020, which may have been related to the election but seems more likely due to the chaotic scenes that followed George Floyd’s death. To discuss this, Freddy Gray is joined by Ed West, who has written about this for his Substack The Wrong Side of History. Become a Spectator subscriber today to access this podcast without adverts. | The rise of left-wing violence and why we're all numb to it | 27 Apr 2026 | 00:27:55
The alleged gunman from the White House correspondents' dinner has been named 31 year old Cole Allen. He was arrested at the scene armed with a shotgun, handgun and multiples knives. It later emerged the suspect sent a note to family members before the shooting, apologising to parents, colleagues and bystanders for what he was about to do. He wrote 'I apologise to everyone....who suffered before I was able to attempt this, to all who may still suffer after, regardless of my success or failure.' He added that he may have given 'a lot of people a surprise today' and, although he did not name Mr Trump directly in the writings, he did criticise him and mentioned targeting the administration. Freddy Gray and Spectator contributor Max Horder discuss the shooter's 'manifesto', how this is a similar example to the Luigi Mangione case and why the world has become immune to political violence. | Pope vs Trump: why Trump picked a fight with Pope Leo | 16 Apr 2026 | 00:26:24
Donald Trump’s latest clash with the Catholic Church stunned even the most hardened veterans of culture-war X. According to the President of the United States, the Chicago-born Pope Leo XIV, the conspicuously holy spiritual leader of 1.3 billion people, is “WEAK on crime and terrible on foreign policy.” He also claimed that, “If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican.” – The Spectator's Vatican correspondent Damian Thompson and Freddy Gray join in a podcast collaboration to discuss the dispute.
