On Mission Special | An Interview With Dave Boden01 Dec 202300:36:51
Just when you thought it was over, we have a bonus episode to finish our On Mission series! This week, Dave and James interview our special guest, author and Christian leader, Dave Boden. Dave will be familiar to some as he was once a member of All Nations Church, where he led the youth ministry at a time when our venerable host, James, was part of the group. So you'll want to listen, even if it is just for those stories!    But our primary reason for this episode is that Dave has just published a book on discipleship called Parallel Faith. It's about walking alongside others in a way that helps lead people towards Jesus. In many ways, the book runs parallel to this podcast, picking-up on many of the themes we have spoken about. So, Dave agreed to help close this series by sharing some of his reasons for writing and to speak to some of the parallel topics from his book and this podcast. If you want to get hold of his book, here is the link below. You can also sign-up to his Substack blog, where he regularly writes about discipleship, and you can find out what work Dave is involved in with the Grace Foundation. Otherwise, enjoy this bonus episode!"   Parallel Faith - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Parallel-Faith-Walking-Alongside-Journey-ebook/dp/B0BX14T9YM or https://www.eden.co.uk/christian-books/spiritual-growth/evangelism-and-followup/parallel-faith/   Parallel Substack - https://daveboden.substack.com   Grace Foundation - https://www.grace-foundation.org.uk
The 2023 Christmas Special | Part One with Emma Scott08 Dec 202300:33:55

"IT'S CHRISTMAS!" And whether you wish it could be Christmas everyday or not, this is the celebration that sits right at the heart of our Christian faith - the moment that God came to earth to make everything right. So welcome to our 2-part series on all-things Christmas! Dave, James and Kier are joined this week by a very special guest, the co-leader of our amazing children's ministry, and someone who really comes into her own at this time of year, Emma Scott! In this first part, before we dive into the true meaning of the Christmas story itself, our four festive hosts discuss Christmas traditions - the most important dinner items, unique family activities, and of course favourite films and music. If you have ever wondered what is the right movie to watch on Christmas Eve and the correct snack to go with it, or you have a hankering for some new Christmas music to listen to after the King's Speech, then hit play. Whatever your traditions are at this time of year, we simply say, may God bless us, everyone!

The 2023 Christmas Special | Part Two with Emma Scott15 Dec 202300:39:23

Now that celebrations have been covered, it's time to talk about why we gather for such festivities at this season. In this second part, Dave, Emma, James, and Kier remind us of the Christmas story and how a story that is thousands of years old still speaks to us with such relevance today. The team also discuss some of the devotional resources, books, carols, and even poems, that not only help them think about the Christmas story in a fresh way, but help lead their families into celebration of what Jesus has done for us. You will find some links to those resources below.

Thank you so much for joining us for the first series of the All Nations Church Podcast. We pray you have a blessed Christmas time and may you know the peace and joy that God has made available in Christ. We look forward to seeing you for series 2 in the new year...

2.1 The End Of The World As We Know It | Introduction09 Feb 202400:21:36
Series two, episode one. "It's the end of the world as we know it!" It's not REM, it's our latest podcast series! Now, whilst we have borrowed this phrase from an old song, and this phrase is still used as an expression after a bad experience - "It was the end of the world", we recognise that our world is genuinely facing challenges that pose a real threat to humanity, and there is a real lack of hope for many in our culture. So what does the Church have to say at this time? Can we as Christians still live in and offer hope to those around us?   Join us, as Dave, James and Kier explore what the Bible has to say about the end of this age, and discover the hope that Christians can live with despite the great challenges we face in this world. In this episode, we will set out the plan for the series, define some key terms that will keep showing up in our conversations and introduce you to our special guests who will hear from later in the series!

2.2 The End Of The World As We Know It | Jesus, The Kingdom & The End09 Feb 202400:31:55
Series two, episode two. So... Where to start? Well, there is no better place to start than with Jesus. In this episode, Dave, James, and Kier will be looking at the central theme of Jesus' teaching - the Gospel of God's Kingdom - and how this message shapes our understanding of the future. Get set for a whistle-stop tour of the Gospels as we think about some of these questions: what is the Kingdom of God? How does Jesus talk about his role in history? How does the Kingdom of God offer hope for the future? What do the stories that Jesus told tell us about the end of this age and the start of something new? How do we live now and prepare for the future that Jesus describes?   And as promised, here is a link to a glossary of some of our key terms: The End of the World As We Know It Glossary .pdf

1.3 On Mission | The Holy Spirit & Mission with Arne Skagen05 Oct 202300:48:29

Series one, episode three.

It’s time to introduce our first special guest. All the way from Norway, we are joined by Arne Skagen, who is not only a good friend to us as a church, having spent lots of time with us over the years, but is also an evangelist. In this episode, Arne shares his story, how he became a Christian, some of the subsequent adventure of his relationship with the Holy Spirit and how his understanding of the role of God’s Church as a missional body of people has grown over the years.

Although Arne doesn’t actively plug his book in this episode, we certainly will! Thank God It’s Monday is a fantastic resource that we have used in All Nations for small group equipping, teaching, and just as a recommendation to individuals. It touches on many of the things that Arne shares in this podcast, providing some really simple principles on how to grow in your relationship with the Holy Spirit and therefore your ability to witness. 1.5 On Mission | Jesus’ Methods Part 119 Oct 202300:35:44

Series one, episode five. In this episode Dave and Kier ask James to zoom in on the ways in which Jesus reached people and how we can learn from the master to do the same. In exploring the Gospels and watching how Jesus went about his mission, we realise that he models an incredibly simple way of life that absolutely anyone can follow. Jesus’ grand plan to reach the world boiled down to this: spend time with people and build friendships. At some point for every believer throughout history, God sent someone they knew to share his love with them. This episode is all about how we can do that for others by building friendships that are open, honest, and missional.  Below are some links to the people and resources mentioned in today’s episode.
