Recorded at Waterloo Records in Austin, this interview covers his collaboration with Trent Reznor on Challengers & Tron: Ares, the creation of "Nine Inch Noize" for Coachella 2025, and exclusive crate digging featuring rare vinyl discoveries and influences.

PSA: It's Not Ok To Pretend Like It's All Ok, Photoshoot Aftermath & Be On The Lookout25 Aug 202100:47:02

Send a text

On today's show, I talk about two pressing things that have been weighing on my heart. It's not a comfortable thing to talk about but as we continue to go out and attend events, concerts and festivals, it must be known that the behaviors of some individuals is completely uncalled for. Most recently, I've had 2 friends get drugged in the last month, and I myself have been drugged 3 x's since living in Austin. This is happening everywhere and it needs to stop.

I talk about these specific situations in detail, and how we need to normalize these conversations so others can look out for each other and know that they're not alone.

On today’s show, I have the incredible music duo, Capyac, a Berlin/Detroit/French electronic inspired group with jazz, funk and modern influences, and hands down, one of the BEST and ENTERTAINING live shows you’ll ever see. Get a peek into the minds of Potion (Delwyn Campbell) & P.Sugz (Eric Peana) of their early years and beginnings of Capyac, how they are bridging the gap between their studio sound and live performances, and how they plan to infiltrate the music festival scene with a festival of their own (rhymes with shmickles) as well as their formal announcement to retire, commencing today and promptly end before the weekend.

This episode is a treat for a long-time Capyac fan and those just hearing about them for the first time, and if you could please rate, review and share this episode with others, I would be so grateful And to talk about this or anything on the podcast, find me on instagram at @atxconcertqueen or shoot me an email at hello@atxconcertqueen.com.

Bob Schneider Talks Group Therapy, Catholic Upbringing, Reactions to Rock n Roll Legends & New Album24 Jun 202101:19:31

Send a text

On today’s show, I have Austin legend, Bob Schneider, “King of the Live Music Capital of the World”, and winner of more than 59 Austin Music Awards including, Best Album, Best Songwriter, Best Musician, and Best Male Vocals, making him the most decorated artist in Austin music history. Beyond that, Bob has performed all over the world and has released more than a dozen albums, written over 1000 songs, and is a published author.

Bob and I got so caught up in our conversation out the gates that we completely skipped our formal intro and just went right into talking about life and his mental health journey with therapy. We talked about some classic male/female stereotypes, his biggest struggle in life that happened during college, our conservative Catholic upbringings, what he thinks is lacking in music released today, and his reactions to legendary rock n’ roll frontmen that have shocked him throughout  the years.

Please enjoy this very entertaining episode with Bob Schneider, and if you could please rate, leave a review and share this episode with others!

An OG Austinite Talks History of the Austin Music Scene, Festival Stories & Stages of “Lit Nick” - Nick Moreau (Yonce)27 May 202101:11:10

Send a text

On today’s episode, I am joined by OG Austinite, and my ACL & Concert Bestie, Nick Moreau, aka “Yonce”. Nick has become one of my closest friends and someone who is a modern-day historian of Austin’s staple events like SXSW, ACL and Blues on the Green. Our shared loved of music brought us together, but some of my most memorable stories in Austin have been with him. Nick is authentically and unapologetically himself and doesn’t hold back when it comes to being REAL, and supporting his friends and causes he cares about.

We talk about his love for Max Frost and the stages of “Lit Nick” at Love & Lightstream, his wild run-in with Tierra Whack’s posse at ACL and casually attempting to walk off the ACL stage at James Blake, and how his love of music has made him the ultimate hype man at any event we’re at together.

Please enjoy this very special episode with my festie bestie, Nick Moreau, and if you could please rate, leave a review and share this episode with others!

Me Nd Adam Talk “Trashwave”, Hard Swigs, Mullets, Hitting A Million Streams & New Music20 May 202101:04:24

Send a text

On today’s episode, I am joined by Austin based, trashwave duo, Me Nd Adam. What’s trashwave you ask? A genre they have not only created, but built their sound on, their mantra and rockstar lifestyle. Don’t let the mullet and shock value of Me Nd Adam fool you, these artists have produced an album with their title song, “Heartbreak Kid” hitting over a million streams on Spotify, Vince has a masters from NYU in music technology, and they’re committed to their fans and producing new music and touring soon.

This was one of the most wild shows I’ve done on this podcast and Me Nd Adam don’t hold anything back. They’re banter back and forth is non-stop, but their sincerity and appreciation to be where they are and where they’ve come from is something that will more than likely shock you. Me Nd Adam are the REAL DEAL and I’m so excited to see what this year holds in store for them, and now brace yours

Sam Wolfe Talks Manifestation, Playing Techno Around The World & Jam Bands (Seismic Dance Event Interview)04 Feb 202300:15:34

Send a text

At Seismic Dance Event, I was able to sit down with Sam Wolfe, an artist and producer from Atlanta, for a candid discussion about his steady rise up the techno charts and how his music has been influenced by hard work, good karma, and being at the right place, right time.  Sam’s personality lends to big beats with big releases that are infectious when he’s playing and can be easily seen and felt on the dance floor.

We talk about his manifestation mindset and being grateful to play all over the world, his growth from show to show, and one of the most entertaining rapid fire question rounds I’ve ever done.

Alesia Lani Talks Evolving As An Artist, Songwriting as Therapy, and Thriving & Growing During Quarantine12 May 202101:13:20

Send a text

On today’s episode, I’m joined by R&B/Soul singer, ACL performer, and one of my favorite people, Alesia Lani. Moving to Austin when she was just 4 years old, she saw the city evolve as did her own life change throughout the years, and embarked on the latest chapter of her life coinciding with her latest music.

Alesia and I talk about how she’s enjoyed the break in performing and tour life, her journey overseas to Thailand in the midst of the pandemic, and how she embraced the time alone to work on herself and spend time with her daughter. We talk about her time in the Austin Music Foundation’s development program, and how her final performance with AMF was with a torn ACL!! Nothing could keep her down and she performed at the 2019 Austin City Limits music festival shortly after! We talk energies, our mutual tomboy upbringings, her recent collection of vinyl and so much more!

Please enjoy this very special episode with Alesia Lani, and if you could please rate, leave a review and share this episode with others!

On today’s episode,  I’m joined by one of the most genuine and versatile artists in the scene, Kalu James, of Kalu and the Electric Joint. Leaving his home in Nigeria at the age of 18, Kalu has had an incredible journey of pursuing his passion for music and opened for Questlove and Moon Taxi, and performed with David Ramirez, Shakey Graves, Cilantro Boombox and more!

I was so excited to sit down with Kalu and we talk about how he got kicked out of his school choir for not staying in his assigned range, how his upbringing and family values influenced him growing up, and his own life lessons that have made him into the Artist and person he is today. Even though Kalu and I grew up halfway across the world from each other, we share so many similarities in our core values and beliefs. He discusses his new album and upcoming performances!

Follow-Up: My Mental Health Journey and What Really Happened To Me (Solo Episode)24 Apr 202100:33:35

Send a text

On today’s solo episode, I go more in-depth about my very personal story about sexual assault hat I shared from last week. It includes details about some of the emotions and life-changing moments I went through that occurred, as well as what was the catalyst for me entering therapy, and what my journey has been leading up to today. This is a follow-up from last week’s episode where I sat down with Curtis Roush and we had a very candid and vulnerable discussion about our passion for mental health and the self-exploration connected through music. https://www.buzzsprout.com/1448794/8379782

I wanted to give you context as to what exactly happened to me years ago and to let you know that you’re not alone. I experienced a lot of the emotions that resulted from that traumatic experience, and my hope is in that sharing this, you can hold on to the fact that there will be brighter days and while this is something I live with, it’s an event that happened to me that does not define me.

Healing is exhausting and while sharing that publicly was terrifying, overwhelming and painful, I now feel relief and like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders to release that pain and sadness I carried around with me for so long.

After listening to this podcast, I ask that you please understand that I have moved on in my life, I am not seeking attention or your pity for what happened, but hoping that by sharing, this will help someone else feel like they’re not alone and you can and will see brighter days. I ask that if you see me out in public, this is not something that is brought up, but that you continue to share the happy moments of music with me and give your energy to happiness and positivity. I appreciate you in advance wanting to be there and support me, and you do that by just showing up here and listening, telling people about the podcast, rating, reviewing and continuing to show love.

Curtis Roush Talks TBLSH, Psychedelics & Mental Health21 Apr 202101:20:39

Send a text

On today’s episode, I’m joined by recording engineer/producer and one of the founding members of Austin’s psychedelic rock/ cosmic soul band, Curtis Roush of The Bright Light Social Hour. Curtis and I talk about music and the formation of TBLSH, his experiences with Austin organizations, HAAM and SIMS and how his band went to band therapy at one point to support them with mental health, as well sharing stories from our personal experiences with psychedelics.

Over the last 16 years, Curtis has experienced highs and lows, and his vulnerability and openness to share his personal journey with mental health, led to me sharing one of my personal stories that I’ve never shared publicly until now. I want you to know that this was something I didn’t necessarily plan on sharing but the timing in the moment felt right, and I’m grateful to Curtis for not only being an advocate for women, but being able to go there in our conversations and address issues like this head on.

Jonathan Tyler on Life As An Independent Artist and What Really Matters The Most31 Mar 202101:06:37

Send a text

On today’s episode, I’m joined by Texas singer, songwriter and producer, Jonathan Tyler. Jonathan aka “JT”, kicked off his music career in Dallas with his band “The Northern Lights” and toured all over the world with AC/DC, ZZ Top, Kid Rock and Ray Wylie Hubbard to name a few, and also played some of the most popular music festivals like Austin City Limits, Bonaroo, Hangout and Voodoo Fest. However, things changed when a patent lawyer came after JT for his “Northern Lights” name, and he parted ways with his label at the time, Atlantic records.

With all of these changes, JT took a step back, and he talks with me about how he stayed connected to his love of the music during those times, his re-discovery of what really was important to him, and what surprised him the most about experimenting with how he released new music this past year.

Please enjoy this fun episode with Jonathan Tyler and please rate, review and share this episode with others!

On today’s show, I have Anthony Cardinale aka Avision, a techno and house producer & DJ from New York, who grew up in the club culture with an early start on the turntables at the age of 12. Avision has been one of my favorite artists for years and he’s known for his big beats and high energy tracks. He’s had releases with some of the biggest names in the industry: Carl Cox, Maceo Plex, Victor Calderone and Coyu to name a few.

We talk about his supportive family and producing music from his home studio, playing to 3,000 kids on teen nights at the age of 15 while hustling on the streets of NYC with his crew to promote his shows. Avision’s humble nature, unmatched work ethic, and commitment to his NYC roots has made him one of the most respected artists in the industry.

Meet My Fake Ex-Husband & Nané Frontman - Daniel Sahad (Nané)04 Mar 202100:53:35

Send a text

Some musicians begin honing in on their craft from a very early age, and others surround themselves with the best and brightest to mentor them while exponentially shortening that learning curve. Daniel Sahad of Nané is the latter. Nané has catapulted themselves to KUTX’s Artist of the month for January 2021, Black Fret 2020 Nominee, and even opened for  Austin’s own, Grammy Nominated, the Black Puma’s… while only together as a band for a year.

On today’s show, we have Daniel Sahad, an Austin, TX based artist, that is frontman for Nané, an edgy and lighthearted, fun and sentimental, strong while also being a giant teddy bear band… basically a mirror of Daniel Sahad. We talk about how we first met on the altar, (no really, we got fake married), how his family has influenced his creative pursuits and desire to succeed, and what he believes is the key to growing locally and beyond for Nane.

Please enjoy this fun episode with Daniel Sahad of Nané and please rate, review and share this episode with others!

Behind The Scenes with Mobley (Young & Dying in the Occident Supreme)25 Feb 202100:49:43

Send a text

Certain musicians of our time that have their hand in every part of their artistry: from conceptualization to the actualization of their vision….Mobley has established himself as more than just a one-man band by playing all the instruments and sounds that you hear, but he/s created various storylines and underlying meanings to his latest work and masterpiece, “Young & Dying in the Occident Supreme”.

On today’s show, we have Mobley, an Austin, TX based musician, but who draws inspiration from all around the world in his music, his life experiences and desire to help the greater good and spread equality and justice through his music. I listened to Mobley’s EP front to back twice before watching the visual album short film he created and it was an absolute dream to sit down and talk with him about how all of these different elements came together and what his thought process was behind the music.

The REAL Studio 54, NYC and San Francisco Club Scene Glory Days - Yorkie Louie (Godfather of Clubbing)03 Feb 202101:18:48

Send a text

What does Studio 54, Woodstock, Desert Hearts, and Led Zeppelin all have in common? Yes that would be one epic collaboration but no…. Yorkie Louie has seen all of those performances live and casually talks about it as if moments like this happened yesterday.

On today’s show, we have Yorkie Louie, the “Godfather of Clubbing”, who resides in Austin, TX but has also lived in the epi-centers of San Francisco and New York City during their most transformative years. Yorkie is a modern day historian of the club scene and while that may be his namesake, Yorkie has witnessed and experienced all types of prejudice and injustices throughout the years. Instead of succumbing to these moments, Yorkie has chosen love and to focus on what matters the most to him: his partner, family and friends.

Yorkie and I talk about his journey through San Francisco in the early days, his most memorable club moments in NYC and iconic names and characters from that era he crossed paths with, his first experience with Desert Hearts that hooked him to this community for life, and lastly, we take a moment to remember the hard times, and why he is so grateful and positive now for everything life has given him.

Please enjoy this heartfelt and at times, jaw-dropping episode with Yorkie and if you could please rate, review and share this episode with others!

My Biggest Inspiration and The Original Rave Influencer - Emily The Funk (OG Rave Influencer / Burner)28 Jan 202101:09:54

EPISODE 14 - Emily The Funk (OG Rave Influencer/Burner)

Who are some of your biggest personal influences? What is it about them that draws you to them and how has your life changed because of them? On today’s show, I’m excited to introduce you to one of MY biggest influences and the person who inspired me to start on my journey to living MY truth in the music scene, Emily The Funk.

Emily The Funk, one of the original “influencers” before the term even existed, and someone I’ve admired for YEARS. Emily started on instagram back in 2011 and quickly amassed a following for her stunning and eye-catching photos from concerts, raves, and music festivals, but the loyalty and love for Emily came from her vulnerability and sharing her highs and lows through life with her followers.

Emily and I talk about her first rave at 15 that hooked her to the scene, her relationship to social media and what was REALLY going on in her life to cause to take a break back in April, her beloved dog, Frankie, that had cancer in which her followers came together to raise over $12,000 for his treatment, and last but not least, her love of Burning Man and what it means to her.

9:40     Being Open & Authentic
13:47    Love for Animals
17:00.   Frankie's Story
17:46    Breakup
19:00    GoFundMe for Frankie
26:54    1st Burning Man
39:35    Drive-In with Test Pilot
43:10    AMF Drinks
48:10    Social Media Break

Uncensored & Unfiltered with Austin's Queen of Soul - Taméca Jones21 Jan 202101:05:53

Send a text

Lions and Tigers and OnlyFans, oh my!  We talk about it all in this week’s episode with the one and only, Tameca Jones, aka the Empress and Queen of Soul of Austin, TX. Tameca is the 2020 Austin Music Awards winner for “Best Vocals”, has performed at Austin City Limits music festival and toured with Gary Clark Jr., and has one of the most hypnotic and soulful voices I’ve ever heard (and also why I’ve seen her perform more than any other artist in Austin.)

Off stage, Tameca has become a good friend of mine, and the time flew by way too fast. We talked about how she’s been handling the absence of shows, OnlyFans accounts, her recent discoveries about herself from diving into astrology, our middle school fashion and love of sports jerseys, and last but not least, what she’s most excited about while creating her newest album.

Please enjoy this entertaining, laugh out loud and jam-packed episode with Tameca Jones and if you could please rate, review and share this episode with others!

In this week's episode, I reflect back on what 2020 has meant for me and what I'm taking with me into the new year. This has been the year of "feeling" for me and with the removal of concerts and events, I've spent more time with my thoughts and feelings than I normally would have liked,  but have been able to channel those things into some major life lessons that I am truly grateful for.

Please let me know some of your 2020 reflections and if any of this resonates with you, please feel free to leave a comment or shoot me a message at hello@atxconcertqueen.com and thank YOU first and foremost, for all of your support.

Send a text

On today’s show, I have music duo, Hello Yes, consisting of guitarist Mitch Bell and saxophonist Aaron Leibowitz, birthed during off time on the road with electronic artist Zhu, who they continue to perform and collaborate with. With a new EP out titled, “Lost Signal”, they are constantly evolving and fine tuning their sound, taking influences from tour life and playing all over the world on festival and concert stages alike.

We talked about my awkward first meeting back on Zhu’s tour bus with Mitch and Ronny in 2018, uncommon fan gifts received on tour, the evolution of their “Hello Yes” sound and when they know a song is finished. They also discuss their first performance at “Lightning in a Bottle” this year with Ronny recapping his first festival experience there 10 years ago, and headlining the main stage with Zhu the previous year. Get to know “Hello Yes” and make sure to follow them for tour announcements and new song releases!

EPISODE 7 - Nicole Jackson (Fyre Festival Episode)

The time has finally come!!! The FYRE FESTIVAL EPISODE! Introducing someone who has become one of my BEST friends, concert buddies, and music festival adventure partner, Nicole Jackson. Nicole and I met AT Fyre Festival, the world biggest luxury musical festival flop, put on by Billy McFarland, and rapper, Ja Rule. By now, you’ve seen some kind of production about this festival, but never someone’s FIRST HAND experience, which I had the pleasure of being on the first flight out to the Bahamas, and connected with Nicole out of the 500 or so people that actually made it TO the festival.

Hear some of the stories that the documentaries never told, the TRUTH behind the infamous cheese sandwich, how much we ACTUALLY paid for our tickets, and how we finally managed to get off the island back to the US.

“What is an NFT album and why should Artists do one?” “How is Dolly Parton performing ON the Blockchain?” “I don’t want to harm the environment with this new technology!!!”  You spoke… I listened and I’m excited to share this SXSW edition of “Concert Queen Connect” with Shawn Ullman of Blockchain Creative Labs, who is the inaugural Blockchain sponsor of SXSW, to really zero in on how this will change the future of the music and entertainment industry.

Please remember: We are in the FIRST inning of this so if you aren’t familiar or feeling like you’re left behind, you’re not. This is similar to the internet movement in 1990’s where many people didn’t understand it but I HIGHLY suggest you watch this to the end to educate yourself as an Artist, Producer, Creative and Concert & Festival goer.

Blockchain Creative Labs is located at Trinity Hall, on 5th & Trinity, and is open to the public till Sunday, March 13th, and then Dolly Parton will be at ACL Live speaking about the project and then a live performance immediately after on Friday, March 18th.

Josh Donaldson Talks 20+ Yrs in Music, Life Lessons as a Suicide Survivor & Suicide Prevention (When The Music Stops)16 Sep 202101:30:02

Send a text

On today’s show, I have the man, the myth, the legend, Josh Donaldson, founder of “When The Music Stops” and former tour manager of the World’s Biggest DJ, and at one point, “Las Vegas’s hand to shake” in the scene. Josh has toured the world, opened some of the biggest Vegas hotels in nightlife, and was the first person to book artists like Drake in Vegas in a prior life. However, what seemed like the most glamorous life filled with money, success, and beautiful women, was filled with moments that contributed to Josh’s depression and even suicidal thoughts.

After his attempt to end his life, he sought treatment and help to overcome his demons and depression, as well as becoming the face and founder of “When The Music Stops”, a suicide prevention community and non-profit organization aimed at supporting mental health, emotional health, and suicide prevention through music, connection and love.

It is a heavier show than normal and I challenge you to hear Josh’s story in entirety and the ways that he has chosen to help himself and others become their best selves. I know you can probably relate to many things within in this show and if you’re able to contribute to this incredible organization in any way, Josh & “When The Music Stops” would greatly appreciate your support!!

If you could please rate, review and share this episode with others, I would be so grateful And to talk about this or anything on the podcast, find me on instagram at @atxconcertqueen or shoot me an email at hello@atxconcertqueen.com.

Now without further ado, enjoy this show with Josh Donaldson!
