Episode 159 - How to Market E-Commerce with Chloë Thomas
26 Oct 2021
00:39:04
This week's episode is all about how to market e-commerce. I'm joined by Chloë Thomas, Author and host of both the Award-winning eCommerce MasterPlan Podcast and Keep Optimising Podcast. Having been in e-commerce since 2003, Chloë’s speciality is solving e-commerce Marketing Problems.
Stating an e-commerce business has never been easier than it is today. There are multiple systems (Squarespace, Shopify & Wix) that allow you to set up an e-commerce shop in a short period of time. But it's still not as easy as it may seem. There are a lot of things you need to consider in the early stages.
You shouldn't start an e-commerce business for the sake of it. In order to be successful, you have to start up because you have an amazing product idea, are identifying a problem you want to solve, or have a customer group that you will serve. It will be incredibly hard to start if you don't fall into one of these categories.
We go on to speak about the importance of having an initial research stage, as this will help you design your product and brand. Feedback is so important. You need to be getting your product or service informant of people and asking questions such as, would you buy it, their thoughts and cost. These opinions will help when it comes to marketing your brand as you will have a clear strategy.
Stay safe and enjoy the episode.

Today, our host, Chris Bruno, wanted to help you understand what some of your options are. Yes, there's definitely a requirement for your marketing to expand over various channels and strategies. Episode 66 - Customer Experience Design With Zuzana Dobro
20 Aug 2020
00:41:05
Today's episode is all about putting the customer at the front and centre of what you do. We often hear the terms User Experience (UX) or User Interface (UI) thrown around. But few people understand just how important those aspects of your business can be.
Introducing Zuzana Dobro. A customer experience designer, who uses design thinking and brain science to help companies achieve so much more with their products and business.
Whether you're just starting out on your entrepreneurial journey, or you've been around for a few years, you'll want to hear what Zuzana has to say. We talk about:
The benefits of big vs small teams
Building for your audience
Design thinking and what that means for your UX and UI
Communication within teams and with stakeholders
Don't miss out on understanding what you could be doing differently in your business. These sorts of changes may seem like they're obvious, but way too many of us aren't maximising our potential because of it.

Episode 65 - Training Your Creativity Muscle
18 Aug 2020
00:09:28
Today's episode is all about becoming more creative with your marketing efforts. Many of you listening are going to start by saying "yeah, but I'm not creative". Guess what? Creativity is just like anything else in life, you need to work at it to become better.
Just like any muscle in your body, it needs regular training, exercise and workouts to help it become stronger. Whether you want to write more blogs or create better graphics for social media, or maybe it's ideation that you're really struggling with, you need to start doing it more often, so as you continue to get better at it.
James Altucher talks about the concept of 10 ideas a day. If you want to become an ideas machine, you need to write down 10 ideas a day. This technique means your brain is always fired up to find ideas and creative solutions to anything in the future.
This episode is another experiment, where we've taken a blog that was originally posted on www.chrisbruno.co, our host's personal website. If you enjoyed the episode, make sure to subscribe and leave us a review.

Episode 63 - Experimenting and Repurposing Content
11 Aug 2020
00:10:40
Today's episode is all about experimenting with your content marketing. Every agency and marketer out there is experimenting. Whether it be for your advertising online, for your sales pages, anything. It's all based on testing to see what works and what doesn't.
Repurposing is a simple concept. Once you've created a piece of content, can it be used in one way or another to create more content? So for example, The Social INK Show was a 40-minute conversational style video which has now become a podcast, 4 blog articles, 6 short videos and we're still taking more from it.
So the real question to ask yourself is this; are you experimenting enough and are you repurposing your existing content?
I hope you all stay safe.

Episode 62 - Finding Your Personal Story With Nick Cavuoto
06 Aug 2020
00:47:00
Today's episode is all about the future of business being focused around building relationships through authentic connections, with Nick Cavuoto.
Nick has an incredible story to share with you in today's episode. It's unique to him, and he shares it with an openness and honesty that's eye-opening for many of us.
For many years, he's helped entrepreneurs and businesses achieve more through their marketing. But his real passion and where he excels is in helping others to open up and find their authentic self to share online.
If you take away just one thing from this episode it should be this:
"Take a step back and realise how amazing you actually are. Look how far you've come. Look at everything that you've overcome. Look at all your success stories that you've already had. Again, entrepreneurship is about failure and pain." - Nick Cavuoto

Episode 61 - Ideation vs Execution
04 Aug 2020
00:10:38
Today's episode is all about the age-old debate between ideation and execution.
When it comes to your digital marketing, it's all about coming up with ideas, but those ideas have to be executed on if they can stand a chance of performing well.
Maybe the debate isn't about which is better, the ideas or their execution. Maybe it's actually about finding the balance between the two. Ideas to fuel execution, and execution which invariably fuels more ideation.
At Social INK, as an agency, we work on "Launch ready" not perfect. That helps us to continue to create ideas, but also ensures we continue to deliver, experiment and find what works for us and our audience.
I hope you all stay safe.

Episode 60 - Emojis, Data Science and AI on Social Media With Arjun Rai
30 Jul 2020
00:38:16
Today's episode is all about social media marketing, and how the underdog should always get a shot at the title.
Arjun Rai from Hello Woofy knows a thing or two about being the underdog. But over the years, he's continued to fight the good fight and as a result, has found his way.
Emojis, data science and AI sit at the heart of how they have built their platform. Attempting to give anyone the opportunity to do great things using social media, no matter what size or stage of business they are at.
It's time to pay attention. If you've been trying to find results, create more content or thrive on social media, Arjun probably has some great tips and advice just for you.

Episode 158 - Social Media with Gerard Murnaghan
19 Oct 2021
00:42:12
This week's episode is all about social media. I'm joined by Gerard Murnaghan, General Manager & Vice President of Sprout Social, a business that offers a suite of social media solutions that supports organisations and agencies in extending their reach, amplifying their brands and creating real connections with their audiences.
Social media channels are now essential to a businesses digital profile. The pandemic has fuelled the online presence of businesses, causing everyone to adapt so they would be left behind.
We go on to speak about there being a lack of appreciation for how much effort that goes into it and the perception of finding the job done faster and at a cheaper price. Time is a key element when it comes to content creation as this gives you the opportunity to get creative.
Think outside the box and create authentic content that resonates with your audience. This is what will set you aside from your competitors generic content.
Your audience will know if you're not putting any effort into your social media. It will come across to them that you as a business don't care. When they get this impression they will be more likely to shop around.
If you really want to make it a success you should be putting as much attention, awareness, results and money as you can.
Stay safe and enjoy the episode.

Episode 59 - Another Content Marketing Experiment - The Social INK Show
28 Jul 2020
00:52:55
Today's episode is all about experimenting, by sharing Social INK's most recent experiment itself. The Social INK Show is a "raw" long-format conversation between our host Chris Bruno and commercial director, James O'Donnell.
We both love to experiment and challenge ourselves. As part of that on-going process, we created The Social INK Show to be able to record a long-form piece of content and then use that content over the course of a month.
So far it's become an episode of this podcast, it's helped us write 5 blogs, we've cut 6 short videos from it, and we've still got more plans to come. In a future episode, I'll detail how were trying to use this one piece of content to fuel multiple others to help give you ideas of how you can do the same.

Episode 56 - Building Your Marketing & Brand With Print On Demand with Raitis Purins
16 Jul 2020
00:40:40
Today's episode is all about building your marketing and your brand using print on demand. We're joined by Raitis Purins from Printful. After 7 years of building a multi-integrated, drop-shipped, print on demand business takes a lot of time and effort. As Raitis has helped build this business, he's learnt the ways that businesses have maximised the opportunities available.
If you already have a business or a community, print on demand could be a great opportunity for you to build additional product offerings, or even as a way to allow your community to support your efforts.
It's always interesting to understand a different business model, and you'll often find that you can learn something new from a different model that is directly applicable to who you are and what you are doing.

Episode 55 - Why You Need To Start Batching Your Content Creation
14 Jul 2020
00:10:54
In today's episode, we're talking all about why it's so important to start batching your content creation. If you don't know what I mean, let me explain.
No matter if it's one of the "big boys", or just someone you follow. When someone is pumping out LOADS of content (and you're wondering how they keep it up), there is a 99% chance that they are batching their content creation process. It's the only way to do it.
Batching your content creation, whether it's for blog articles or social media posts, is very simple. You fix yourself a chunk of time, an hour or two, in your calendar, just for that. During that time you can focus, and simply create.
Once you've finished a batch of content, then you can plan it out, schedule it for release, and ultimately sit back and enjoy a nice cup of tea (insert Gin and Tonic) and watch as your content stream continues to work for you, without needing your input every day, multiple times a day.
But don't forget to keep batching, otherwise once that content has been used, there will be nothing left and then you're back to scrambling.
I hope you all stay safe.
Enjoy!

Episode 51 - Lead Generation and LinkedIn Ads with Anthony Blatner
25 Jun 2020
00:49:48
This week's episode is all about lead generation and LinkedIn Ads. Anthony Blatner has had an incredible career over the years, but his speciality is how to help business start generating more leads.
Pretty much every business, big and small, wants to generate more leads. It's the basis of helping to grow revenue.
But for way too many businesses, there's a lack of understanding around the buyer persona, the customer journey and the key metrics that help businesses identify where they generate leads from, at what cost and for what return.
If you've been trying to figure out how your business can focus on lead generation that actually works, you'll want to check out this episode.

Episode 50 - Starting A Podcast As A Challenge and Looking Back
18 Jun 2020
00:24:50
50 episodes already, that's crazy! This week's episode is all about why and how we started a podcast. It all started as an internal agency challenge in July 2019 and from there, things just continued to move forward. So much so that nearly a year later, here we are, already at 50 episodes.
So we decided to come together as a team and talk a little about how it all started and more importantly, how you can do the same thing. There's a lot to be said for just biting the bullet and trying something.
Internally I've started to refer to it as the Consistent Experimenter. As marketers or business owners, we need consistently experiment. Try new things, build out new ideas, launch things and see what works and what doesn't for our business.
Innovation has been a key factor in the success of our clients' marketing, and also in ours. We're often surprised what really resonates with people. It's not always what we thought it would be.
I hope you all stay safe.

The All About Digital Marketing Podcast is brought to you by Social INK, a digital marketing consultancy on a mission to put the social back into social media.
This week's episode is all about email marketing. I'm joined by Vira Sadlak, Account Manager at Flowium and Alissa Taggart, Client Services Director at Flowium.
Flowium is a Full-Service eCommerce Email Marketing Agency built to grow online retail revenue and connect clients to their customers. They are also the hosts of the Email Einstein podcast.
Email marketing isn't dead. Used effectively, it can be a huge tool that can drive revenue for your business. This is because it is your audience, of people who signed up because they wanted to hear more. Therefore you have direct communication and engagement with your email subscribers.
By using email marketing, you are able to get detailed, relevant information about your customers and then apply it to your strategy in a very substantial and impactful way. You are able to see the behaviour of your customers directly. From how they visit your website, to what they interact with, to which forms they've used, in order to give you more information.
In this episode we go on to speak about the real key basics that SMEs should be doing in order to get that process started and start collecting email addresses. We talk about how businesses can use email marketing effectively. 11 Jun 2020
00:49:47
This week's episode is all about content marketing and building websites that attract real visitors. We've all seen way too many ads for that promised land of passive income from websites, but what's the reality behind starting a website, building it up from scratch and finally generating revenue from it?
Vincent D'Eletto from WordAgents knows a thing or two about building websites that actually generate revenue. His agency specialises in creating content that helps drive traffic, the holy grail in the success of any online business.
Listen to the pro as we talk about what it really takes to go from zero-to-revenue for a new website, and just how much work is involved. It's a huge eye-opener before you embark on a "get-rich-quick" scheme that others might promise you.

Episode 45 - Communication over Sales
14 May 2020

Too many people use social media as a bullhorn, they shout at their audience, trying desperately to generate revenue. Instead, why not focus on an approach intended on communicating with prospects and your audience. Having conversations to strengthen the relationships within your community.
Chris Bruno started Social INK in 2008, and for more than a decade has been helping brands to start conversations, build communities and as a result, drive conversions.

23 Apr 2020
00:48:25
In this week's episode, we're talking with Naira Perez from Spring Hill Digital all about paid media, online ads and most importantly, understanding your audience and having a plan before spending your money.
It's easy to talk about, but hard to implement. When as marketers we talk about everything being an experiment or a test, we don't mean "throwing spaghetti against a wall to see what sticks", we mean educated guesswork based on a thorough understanding of your audience.

Episode 156 - Growing a Community with Genecia Alluora
05 Oct 2021
00:35:49
This week's episode is all about growing a community. I'm joined by Genecia Alluora, Founder of Soul Rich Woman, the #1 Leading Female Entrepreneur Network in South East Asia Connecting 200,000 Women Across The Region.
Growing a community is an essential part of any business today. Whether you're big or small, online or on the high street, your community are an integral part of your business. They're the ones that buy from you regular, that rave about you online and that support your business when you need it the most.
What does it take to grow a community? Well, that's where Genecia's experience really shines. Starting by working with the people you know, the people around you, and continuing to consistently show up. The expression "if you build it, they will come" should probably be updated for the digital marketing world to something like; "if you consistently build it, they will come".
We talk about the wealth of different experiences Genecia has had in the past, that all led her to be able to do what she does now. How she wants to empower women to come back to the workplace on their terms, to make sure they're living their best life.

Chances are you've heard the term PPC. If you're not sure what that means, it stands for Pay Per Click advertising.
Today I'm joined by Matt Ramsay, from PPC Geeks. As the name suggests, Matt loves all things Pay Per Click, especially helping businesses to really develop and understand how they can increase revenue through intelligent advertising.

Episode 38 - Change and Evolution in Uncertain Times
26 Mar 2020
00:13:50
"The only constant in life is change" - Heraclitus
The Greek philosopher knew what he was talking about. In the last 2 months, the world has seen some of the biggest changes in the last 70+ years. The word unprecedented is now a daily occurrence.
But in and amongst all this, there's solidarity, ingenuity and change happening. In and amongst all the bad, there's good happening. And in today's episode, I want us all to focus on change and evolution.
There's so much uncertainty, for everyone right now, and no one is facing this struggle alone. We're all very much in this together. But right now, our businesses are facing challenges, our suppliers and our customers are also facing challenges.
So what can we do to help us adapt to this "new normal" way of life?
I hope you all stay safe and stay home.

Episode 36 - Pareto's Principle, or the 80/20 Rule for Business and Marketing
12 Mar 2020
00:13:17
There are some things in life that are simply unavoidable. They happen, patterns, behaviours, whatever it might be. But in 1906, Pareto started to obsess over the 80/20 rule when he realised that around 80% of all the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the population.
After that, he started to look for the 80/20 rule in everything, and sure enough, he found examples, in nature and socio-economic practices around him.
Fast forward to today, and the 80/20 rule is prominent in business, and in our marketing efforts. The thing is, if you don't know what to look for, then you might be missing the signs that are so important.
So how does the 80/20 rule apply to your business and your marketing? Chances are 80% of profits come from 20% of your customers. Invariably, 80% of issues and problems, also come from 20% of your customers.
In this episode, we'll jump into how this works in marketing, and most importantly, what to look out for so as you can replicate the successes as they happen.

Episode 35 - Talking About Hollywood, Personal Branding & So Much More With Nicole Russin-McFarland
05 Mar 2020
00:44:23
This episode is very different from my normal conversation about Digital Marketing, but nonetheless I think there is value in every conversation we have these days. Nicole Russin-McFarland is a film score composer and director based in Los Angeles.
She's created more content and tried more channels than most. What makes her stand out is her clarity in terms of her drive towards the clear goals she's set for herself.
The episode takes some big tangents and we go down some deep rabbit holes, but I think everyone can find something to take away from this. Whether it be what life in Hollywood is really like, or putting out content on various channels to see what really works.
Take a listen, hope you enjoy the episode and we'll be back to our usual digital marketing focus from next week onwards. But for now, here's some real insight into what that life in Hollywood is really like.

Episode 34 - Abundance vs Scarcity Mentality, Finding More Opportunities
27 Feb 2020
00:14:38
Sometimes in business, we can find ourselves in a competitive situation, we might have to pitch against another firm, or bid for contracts. But when it comes to your marketing, there are opportunities everywhere, if you know how to look for them.
The concept of the abundance vs scarcity mentality is all about identifying and seizing those opportunities.
Is it better to have the whole pie (albeit a small one) or to have a slice of a much, much bigger pie?
Ultimately the choice is yours, but when you start to realise that you might not be so alone and competing against everyone, you could realise that there's more than enough to go around.

Episode 32 - Adding Humour To Your Marketing With Adam Hunt
13 Feb 2020
00:48:34
In today's episode, we're talking with Adam Hunt, from White Label Comedy. Being funny isn't always easy. We all know that one guy who's really funny, or sometimes we think we're funny and everyone else just "doesn't get your sense of humour".
But for brands and businesses online, it can be very hard to be funny online and make a successful campaign out of it. Enter Adam and his hive mind of comedy geniuses.
We talk about how the hive-mind works, and how Adam has brought together a group of genuinely funny writers to help businesses and brands take advantage of the attention war that is social media.
Standing out online can often be a challenge, and hitting the right note by making somebody laugh can have a huge impact. Hope you enjoy the episode as much as we did. Enjoy!

Episode 31 - Personal Branding With Lachlan Kirkwood
06 Feb 2020
00:40:49
In today's episode, Chris is joined by Lachlan Kirkwood, someone who really understands personal branding. When it comes to the digital stage, we're all putting ourselves out there on display and how we come across and who we target are important factors in helping to build a community around us.
Lachlan is based in Australia, his accent gives it away, and he's spent the last few years working for agencies and clients, focusing on paid performance for campaigns. During that time, he started sharing his learnings and case studies in detail on his website. The content that started as just for him to keep a record of his career, ended up providing huge value to a lot of others.
From there, Lachlan's personal brand and community grew. Today, he's a freelancer, and his community and reputation, thanks to his personal brand, allows him to work with people through his network and thanks to his reputation.
One of the biggest takeaways from this episode was this. By giving value, and not expecting anything in return, you'll invariably start to attract people to your personal brand.
Thanks for listening.

Episode 30 - Good vs Bad Marketing: Circle of Influence vs Circle of Concern
30 Jan 2020
00:10:42
Recently I was taking some time to re-read the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen Covey. Many years ago, I was lucky to be introduced and work with some of the great people from Franklin Covey, one of the world's largest and most successful training companies.
Whilst going through the habits, I came across the model for the Circle of Influence and the Circle of Concern. The principle on its own it's pretty simple. It comes down to focusing on the things you can influence vs the things you can't.
When I started to read this section again, I wondered how it would apply to marketing, and most importantly to good vs bad marketing. So I started to map it out.
You can find the graphics and all the show notes on our website.
We hope you are enjoying the show so far, 30 episodes already, doesn't time fly when you're having fun. Feel free to leave us a review or a comment to let us know your thoughts.

Episode 155 - Marketing Automation & AI with Andrew Stockwell
28 Sep 2021
00:33:45
This week's episode is all about marketing automation & AI. I'm joined by Andrew Stockwell, Chief Commercial Officer at RedEye, a business specialising in multi-channel marketing automation specifically designed for retailers, travel and financial, B2C lifecycle marketing.
Marketing Automation has developed a huge amount in recent years. There's now so much you can automate. With that being said, you want to start simple and don't try to automate every single task. It's important to think about your objective and what you want to achieve before doing so.
We speak about the tasks you can automate as an SME straight away such as a welcome campaign, basket abandonment campaigns and specialised messages through identifying key customer groups. These three marketing automation tasks will help you get ahead of your marketing.
Once you have marketing automation tasks in place you can see how they're performing and run tests. This will give you data that you can analyse. You now have a platform to start developing from where you can see what is working and what's not. From this, you can determine where you invest your time.
Stay safe and enjoy the episode.
