SPIEL Essen 2026 runs 22 to 25 October in Germany. It's the biggest board game fair in the world, and hundreds of new games launch there in one weekend. I went through the new releases looking for solo board games: three built only for one player, and two multiplayer games that play properly solo. The five games:1. Familiar Feat by Friedemann Friese, the designer of Friday2. 7th Seal from Devir3. Pasteles by Scott Almes, the designer of Tiny Epic4. Buried Memories from Aporta Games5. Fragments: Solara from IELLO and Pegasus For each one I cover how it plays, what people who've played it are saying, and roughly what it costs in pounds. Every game on the list is under £35. At the end I pick the one I'd bring home and the one I'm least sure about. These aren't reviews. I haven't played any of them yet. This is my Essen 2026 solo wishlist, plus why Thousand Year Old Vampire changed how I think about playing board games on my own. I actually collect Blood Angels. So I sat down for an honest chat about it. The Blood Angels Battleforce, the Angelus Assault Force, has 11 models in it:Commander DanteA Blood Angels Chaplain with Jump PackA Death Company Brutalis Dreadnought3 Sanguinary Guard5 Death Company Marines with Jump Packs It has the lowest points value of the seven Christmas boxes, and the Chaplain is the older kit. Some of the criticism is fair. I just don't think the box is as bad as everyone is making out. This isn't a breakdown of every box. It's a chat about why the Warhammer community feels so negative right now, and why that matters if you're new to Warhammer 40k and thinking about asking for one of these for Christmas. In this video I talk about:- My second-hand Blood Angels army from eBay (SHOCK!)- My badly painted Death Company, and why they're still my favourite squad- The Christmas Dreadnought I built with a leg on backwards- What I'd change about the Blood Angels box- Why 11 models might be a good thing if you've got a full-time job and a pile of unpainted models- What I'd tell a friend who wants to buy one The seven Warhammer 40k Christmas Battleforces are:Space Marines: Indomitus Task ForceBlood Angels: Angelus Assault ForceSpace Wolves: Champions of FenrisChaos Space Marines: Cult of DestructionChaos Knights: Helhunt LanceOrks: Armoured BlitzmobNecrons: Disciples of the Nekrosor Which box are you getting? Someone on Reddit described 40K as a future where there’s only war, full of enormous, impractically armoured muscle-heads killing each other forever. Then they asked why anyone would find that interesting. This video is my answer. I got into Warhammer backwards. I was 19, at university, I liked vampires, and someone in Games Workshop handed me the Vampire Wars books. That led to the Blood Angels, then to Dante, and that was it. I talk through the four things that keep me hooked on the lore. The tragedy of Sanguinius and Dante, the Orks being the only faction having a nice time, ten thousand years of history, and why the war is really just the backdrop. I also share the one small moment in Dante that changed what I thought 40K was, and the book I’d tell you to read first if you’re curious. You don’t need an army, a rulebook or a spreadsheet. If something in this universe speaks to you, you’re already part of it. Which book or character got you into 40K? Or if you’re still on the outside looking in, what’s put you off? Burnout Devs Just Made The Best STAR WARS Game In 23 Years14 oct. 202600:20:47

That makes it the best reviewed new Star Wars game since Knights of the Old Republic in 2003. It’s made by Fuse Games, a studio set up by ex-Criterion developers, the people behind Burnout and Need for Speed. Star Wars has apparently died about fourteen times now. So why is everyone suddenly excited about a racing game? In this Star Wars Galactic Racer review I talk about why being a Star Wars fan started to feel like hard work, why the podracing hype is really about being ten years old in 1999, and why this isn’t really a podracing game at all. I also get into old Sebulba’s playable memories, why KOTOR is still my favourite game ever, what happens when Burnout developers get handed the Star Wars toy box, and the one decision I can’t believe they made. There’s no split-screen. I’ve played it for a week now, so there’s a full review of how it actually plays, not just what the critics said. Did you play Episode I Racer back in the day? Who did you pick? Did you ever actually beat Sebulba? And if you’ve bought Galactic Racer, is it worth the fifty quid? Let me know in the comments. The reason is a tiny bit of yellow plastic: the double-telescoping lightsaber. I own Luke's lightsaber (well, a £250 Padawan Outpost replica), so I went down the rabbit hole. I cover how the original prop started life as a camera flash handle from a London shop, why the blue lightsaber was really Anakin's, and why Luke's green one only exists because the blue blade kept vanishing against the Tatooine sky. Then it's the toys. Kenner sold kids an empty box for Christmas 1977, gave the first Luke, Vader and Obi-Wan figures a saber that snapped if you looked at it, and quickly swapped it for a simpler one. The ones that survived are now worth thousands, and the record for a double-telescoping Luke is $161,457.60. I also emailed Vectis with a few questions, and I've put together a simple three-step test so you can check your own old Star Wars figures before anything goes in the skip. I'll post the hammer price once the auction's done, so keep an eye on my feed. What's still sitting in your loft? Tell me in the comments. I came into 40k by buying somebody else's Blood Angels army off eBay, and I'm still stripping and repainting it one squad at a time. Lately I've noticed a lot of creators and long-time fans stepping back from Warhammer, so I went through Reddit threads, comment sections and Games Workshop's own numbers to work out why. In this video I look at the three things wearing people out: how fast 11th edition releases are coming, the September price rise and the $420 limited edition Space Marine codex, and the classic units like the Tactical Squad and Dreadnought heading to Legends. I also give Games Workshop some credit, because plenty of people are enjoying 11th edition. Then I share what I'm doing with my own army, and the one rule that got me painting again. So what happens when normal painters try Games Workshop's new paints, and do beginners actually need them? I'm not a pro painter. I'm repainting a second-hand Blood Angels army one squad at a time, and I own seventeen slightly different reds, so I know exactly how paint FOMO works. When Games Workshop let normal people try Tone Pro in stores, I went through what they found. The thick coats that really did level themselves out. The new white that still needed three coats over black. The self-confessed average painter who wasn't sold, and the people who loved it. Then I get to the question most new painters are asking: do you need to swap your Citadel paints for Tone Pro? I look at what the 1 to 5 numbered tones get right for beginners, what the paint won't fix, and the one question I'd ask before spending any money on new paint. A beginner walks into a Warhammer store tomorrow. Would you point them at Tone Pro? Tell me in the comments. This is part three of the series, and it's where the actual drama lives. Netflix just announced a new D&D show, Ravenloft, centred on the vampire Strahd, right after their other D&D series got cancelled in development. Meanwhile at Wizards of the Coast, the president has stepped down, several videogames have been cancelled, and tens of millions of dollars have been written off. I go through what's actually going on with the Netflix show, the real story behind Sigil, D&D's own virtual tabletop, and why one employee's quote about it bothered me more than anything else in this whole story. Then I give my honest verdict on whether any of it should actually change how you feel about playing. No, it doesn't. Hasbro can make as many corporate decisions as it likes, none of it touches what happens when you sit down with your mates and roll some dice. I was about ten when I first played it, three days at a time on a rented N64 copy from Blockbuster after a decent school report. This video is everything that game did to me the first time round: Hyrule Field feeling like Middle-earth, the ReDeads and Wallmasters I still haven't forgiven Nintendo for, the Water Temple with no walkthrough except a cousin who wouldn't let you forget it, and the music that takes me back to my actual childhood bedroom rather than anywhere in Hyrule. It's also about why "that's just nostalgia" isn't the cop-out people think it is, and why I'm more nervous about the Ocarina of Time remake than excited. You Asked Me To Make Lembas Bread. This Was A Mistake.28 sept. 202600:22:51
You asked, so I made lembas bread from a real Tolkien cookbook, and it's exactly why you should never cook with me. A bunch of you in the community asked me to try cooking lembas, the Elvish waybread that keeps the Fellowship going all the way from Lothlórien, so here we are. I grabbed Recipes from the World of Tolkien: Inspired by the Legends, picked the lembas recipe, and tried to follow it like a normal, calm, organised adult. I am not a normal, calm, organised adult. I have ADHD and a very loose relationship with measuring things, so expect tangents, missing ingredients, a kitchen that slowly descends into chaos, and me getting distracted by Tolkien lore at every possible moment. This is a proper informal vlog, no script, no plan, just me, a cookbook, and some questionable decisions. Does it actually taste like something an Elf would hand you before a long journey? Or is one small bite enough to fill the stomach of a grown man for all the wrong reasons? Watch to find out. If you haven't seen it yet, this is the sequel nobody needed to Why You Should NEVER Paint With Me, my Hobbit Day Samwise disaster. Same energy, more flour. Thank you to everyone who suggested this one. Keep the requests coming, because apparently I'll do anything if enough of you ask. Can This D&D Game Work WITHOUT Any Dice Rolls25 sept. 202600:15:37
Part 1 if you missed it:    • This Studio Already Got D&D Wrong Once   Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons is secretly built on forty years of real D&D lore, and I go through all of it. This is part two of the series. Last time I covered what the game actually is and how split the reaction's been. This time I get into how it actually plays, whether Tasha and Darkon hold up as real D&D lore, and my honest verdict on whether this is a good way into the hobby if you've never played D&D before. There's a surprising amount of real Dungeons & Dragons buried in this game. Tasha isn't a character made up for the trailer, she's Iggwilv, one of D&D's oldest villains, going back to Gary Gygax in the 1970s. Darkon and the Ravenloft setting come from the actual tabletop lore too. I go through why that matters, how the combat and magic system feels to play as someone who runs a level 9 Hexblade Warlock at their own table, and whether playing this actually counts as playing D&D. Short answer on that last one: no, but it might be the best doorway into the world of D&D you'll find right now. There's also a setup for part three at the end, because tailoring everything for newcomers comes at a cost for the people who've been playing for years, and that's tangled up in some properly rough news out of Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro. Reasons NOT to Paint With Me, Demonstrated Live on Samwise Gamgee22 sept. 202600:53:07
I painted a Samwise Gamgee figure for Hobbit Day with zero plan, and it's exactly why you shouldn't paint with me. I am not calm. I am not collected. I am not whimsical. I have ADHD, zero chill, and apparently a lot to prove, so for Hobbit Day I decided to build, prime, and paint a Samwise Gamgee figure completely unscripted, uncut, and unfiltered - and it is exactly the chaos you'd expect. We start in my kitchen with a croissant (golden syrup and cheese, no I will not be taking questions) and a White Monster. From there: opening the box, assembling him, taking him out to the garden to prime - where I couldn't find anything to balance him on, so he got primed standing on one of my dogs' old bones, as one does. Then the "painting setup," which is generously described as horrendous and barely in focus. You will be able to tell I am a total noob within about four seconds. That's the point. To end things properly (and calmly...ish), I read the final chapter of The Fellowship of the Ring - focusing on Sam, the one member of the Fellowship who is somehow the opposite of me in every way: patient, steady, whimsical. A good reminder of what I'm aiming for, even if today's video is proof I'm not there yet. Every clip is exactly as filmed. No cuts, no edits, no plan — just the honest, chaotic reality of trying to make art with an ADHD brain, for Hobbit Day. This NEW 40k Game Needs No Painting, Rules Or Friends21 sept. 202600:11:42
Owlcat, the studio behind Rogue Trader, just revealed Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy. Here's what it actually is. Dark Heresy is a turn-based, isometric RPG set in the Calixis Sector, where you play an Inquisitorial acolyte investigating heresy and corruption instead of running your own voidship like in Rogue Trader. In this video I cover what the game actually is, why I trust Owlcat after playing Rogue Trader myself, the real catches around the beta (no release date yet, and the Founder's Pack isn't free), what the beta's actually like right now, why this isn't just Rogue Trader with the names changed, and my honest verdict on whether you should hand over money to play it early. This FREE Mod Will Cost You Nothing But Your Whole Weekend19 sept. 202600:14:00
A completely free Lord of the Rings total conversion mod for Bannerlord just shipped - here’s what it actually is, what it costs, and what to expect. Tales from the Age of Men turns Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord into Middle-earth — real factions like Rohan, Gondor, Mordor and Isengard, a full campaign map, armies, and huge battles. It’s built by a small fan team, funded through Patreon, and it’s completely free. Fable's Gamescom 2026 gameplay reveal has racked up millions of views in days and here's everything actually confirmed, what it costs, and why Fable 3 still has fans nervous about getting excited again. I Explored TOLKIEN's World Without Paying A Penny04 sept. 202600:16:38
I found a free Tolkien exhibition hiding in a small museum in Bewdley- first editions, real artwork, one surprising story. This is the next stop in my Tolkien Tours series, where I visit the real-world places connected to Tolkien and Middle-earth. This time it's The Magic of Middle-earth at Bewdley Museum - completely free to visit, with first editions of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion behind glass, original artwork, and the real story behind a single painting of Lúthien that ties straight back to Tolkien's own marriage. It's not really a video about the films. It's about Tolkien the person — the bit I think is getting lost under the sheer amount of Middle-earth content heading our way. If you've ever loved this world but never gone further than the movies, I think this one's worth ten minutes of your time. 📌 CHAPTERS 0:00 - Intro: A Free Tolkien Exhibition? 8 GTA 6 Leaks You NEED To Know About27 août 202600:13:38
Eight GTA 6 leaks in six days, a leaker calling themselves CyberLeek, a crypto token, and one bombshell story that turned out to be completely fake - here’s everything actually confirmed. Between 18 and 23 August, an unknown account calling itself CyberLeek posted eight separate GTA 6 leaks - gameplay clips, a claimed map of Leonida, and a manifesto demanding physical discs and offline single-player. It escalated fast: a cryptocurrency token, a retracted “dead man’s switch” ultimatum, and - most recently - a second, still-unconfirmed claim that the full game auto-uploads if CyberLeek ever gets caught. In this video I walk through all eight GTA 6 leaks in order, who CyberLeek might actually be, what Rockstar and Take-Two have done about it, and what’s genuinely confirmed versus what’s just noise - so you don’t have to doom-scroll the whole saga yourself. This MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL Made Me Feel 12 Again22 août 202600:14:09
I spent a day at the Loxwood Joust — the UK's biggest jousting festival and the closest thing this country has to a real renaissance faire. Loxwood Joust is a full-scale medieval and fantasy festival held every August at Loxwood Meadow in West Sussex, England — the UK's answer to an American-style renaissance faire, built around full-contact jousting instead of just a marketplace and a stage show. In this video, I go hands-on with the whole thing: the in-character medieval kingdom, the real history of jousting (starting as 11th-century military training and ending, unexpectedly, with the death of a French king), what a day actually costs, whether it's worth it with zero costume and zero medieval history, and my honest verdict on whether I'd go back. 0:00 Intro1:13 What Loxwood Joust Actually Is4:09 The Real History Of Jousting (& Renaissance Faires)8:15 Why You Should Actually Go10:35 My Honest Verdict Also covered: the Eglinton Tournament of 1839 — Britain's own real-life Renaissance Faire revival — Normal Person Mode vs Full Send, and why grown men are quietly getting back into hobbies like Warhammer, D&D and LARP. @TheLoxwoodJoust Loxwood Joust official site & tickets: https://loxwoodjoust.co.uk Loxwood Joust on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/loxwood_joust Watch next — https://youtu.be/F4OO_fG4jEI?si=nIX8F1gHNlIaMym_ Have you ever been to a renaissance faire, jousting tournament, or medieval festival — worth it, or a bit much? The Cost to Start WARHAMMER 40K in 2026 (No Surprises)12 août 202600:19:41
What does it ACTUALLY cost to start Warhammer 40k in 2026? I priced the exact same shopping list 3 ways - no upsells, no surprises. Getting into Warhammer 40k always feels like the hardest part is money — everyone online seems to be dropping £180 on the latest launch box, and it's easy to assume you need all of it just to get started. You don't. In this video I break down what it actually costs to start Warhammer 40k with one Combat Patrol and a full hobby tool kit, priced three realistic ways: buying everything direct from Games Workshop, buying the exact same list from a discount retailer like Element Games, and going fully secondhand + DIY via eBay, Vinted and Facebook Marketplace. I also cover why Combat Patrol beats a big two-army starter set for beginners, and a quick look at what the WTC 2026 rankings say about which factions people are actually playing right now. No jargon, no gatekeeping, no "just buy another box" - just the real shopping list and the real totals for each budget, so you can pick a starting point that actually fits what you've got to spend. If I Started Warhammer TODAY, I'd Buy This Box First02 août 202600:27:08
Games Workshop just quietly released the biggest Combat Patrol update Warhammer 40K has ever had — a 184-page Companion book, six new missions, and a full rules refresh — and almost nobody's talking about it. In this video I break down exactly what's changed, why I think this is genuinely the best entry point Games Workshop has ever built, and why — despite an entire wall of Combat Patrol boxes in every Warhammer shop in the country — it barely got a mention during the 11th Edition preview cycle. I go through what Combat Patrol actually is for complete beginners, whether it's actually good value compared to buying kits separately, my honest theory on why it's flying under the radar, and exactly which Combat Patrol I'd buy first if I was starting completely from scratch today. If you've been thinking about getting into Warhammer, you've got a Combat Patrol box gathering dust, or you're just after a way to play a full game without clearing the dining table until Thursday — this one's for you. LoTR Lore That Makes GONDOR Unlike Any Kingdom In Fantasy23 juil. 202600:24:29
Gondor went nearly 1,000 years without a king. This is the Tolkien lore behind Minas Tirith that most people never hear about. This is Part 1 of the Minas Tirith series. We're building the LEGO Minas Tirith set and going deep into the history at the same time. Last video we put the city together brick by brick. This time we find out what was happening inside it. We cover the Stewards of Gondor and how a temporary arrangement lasted almost a millennium. The dead White Tree standing forgotten in the Citadel because nobody could bring themselves to remove it. Aragorn's secret history inside Gondor long before the War of the Ring. And how Sauron spent years using a palantír to convince Gondor's Steward that the fight was already over. All the Lord of the Rings lore explained properly. No gatekeeping. No assumed knowledge. Never read the books or watched the films fifty times — it doesn't matter. You're welcome here. Part 2 will cover the siege of Minas Tirith itself. New to the series? You NEED To See This RDR2 GTA 6 Theory. Here's Why.20 juil. 202600:16:47
There's a GTA 6 fan theory going around that Jason might actually be related to Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2. I couldn't ignore it, so let's talk about it. Rockstar just dropped a new GTA VI trailer and a load of screenshots, and within days the internet had stitched together a theory linking Jason Duval to Arthur Morgan - comparing jawlines, timelines, and everything in between. It started on Reddit months ago, quietly, then got picked back up on TikTok and properly exploded. I've replayed Red Dead Redemption 2 four times. I still can't play Arthur as anything other than a good man. So when this theory landed on my feed, I went further down the Reddit and TikTok rabbit hole than I'd like to admit - and along the way I remembered a detail from Arthur's story that I think breaks the whole thing. This isn't a long, heavily-produced deep dive. It's more of a chat - the theory, why it looks convincing, where it falls apart, and why I think we're all still a little bit in love with Arthur Morgan nearly eight years on. You Need to WORRY About TOLKIEN. Here's Why11 juil. 202600:37:33
There's more Middle-earth content coming than we've ever had. I don't think that's automatically good news for Tolkien. This one's a build video and a chat video at the same time. I'm working through bag ten of the 8,278-piece LEGO Minas Tirith set, and while my hands are busy I'm talking through something that's been sat in my head for weeks: why I think Tolkien the man is at real risk of becoming a footnote as Middle-earth turns into more films, more shows and more games than ever before. Along the way I get into why Tolkien wasn't just an author but something closer to a subcreator, why Boromir is one of the most misunderstood characters in the whole legendarium, and why the story was never really about destroying the Ring — it was about protecting the Shire. I also talk about Sarehole Mill and Puzzlewood, two real places that changed how I read these books completely. Whether you've read everything Tolkien ever wrote or you've only ever seen the films, I think this one's worth ten minutes of your time. WARHAMMER Is Finally Getting Easier to Start (Here's How)07 juil. 202600:23:04
Games Workshop just revealed something that changes the conversation about getting into Warhammer. Not one announcement - five. And when you look at them together, they don't feel like separate reveals. They feel like a plan.In this video I'm walking through everything from the 2026 Summer Preview: Warhammer Academy, which launches with 150 free lessons for Warhammer 40,000 covering lore, collecting, building and painting, and gaming. The three new starter sets at different price points. The Butcher's Nails - a new animated series landing on Warhammer TV in August. The Armageddon launch box and what it actually means alongside all of it. And whether 11th Edition changes anything for someone who's never played before. I also answer the question I get asked more than any other: is right now actually a good time to start Warhammer? I came into this hobby through the lore - Black Library before brushes, brushes before dice — and I remember exactly what it felt like to have twelve tabs open and come away more confused than when I started. The Board Game LotR Fans Have Waited 25 Years to Own03 juil. 202600:20:47
I am a pessimist about the current wave of Lord of the Rings media. I've said it on this channel before, and the numbers back me up.But The King's Gambit is the exception. This is the Lord of the Rings board game fans have been quietly waiting for — and most of them don't even know it exists yet. It's built on the bones of Star Wars: The Queen's Gambit, one of the most beloved and impossible-to-own games ever made. A genuine grail game. Restoration Games has taken that system — four simultaneous battles, interconnected decisions, no two games ever the same — and rebuilt it entirely around the Battle of Pelennor Fields. The Rohirrim charging across open ground. Gondor defending Minas Tirith. Aragorn fighting to retake Pelargir. Frodo and Sam just trying to survive Mordor. All happening at once. All connected. Exactly the way Tolkien wrote it. In this video I break down where the game comes from, why the original Queen's Gambit became a grail game, all four battlefields with lore context for anyone newer to Middle-earth, and exactly what the Kickstarter includes. If you've ever heard of The Queen's Gambit and wished you could own one — this might finally be the answer. Vampire: The Masquerade Just Invaded D&D30 juin 202600:17:47
Blood Points. Disciplines. The Beast. Six iconic vampire clans as subclasses. Here's what's actually in Bound by Blood, and why this crossover is bigger than most people realise. D&D Beyond has announced a full collaboration with Vampire: The Masquerade, published by Ghostfire Gaming - the team behind Grim Hollow and Dungeons of Drakkenheim. The new Kindred class runs from levels 1 to 20 with six clan subclasses (Brujah, Gangrel, Lasombra, Nosferatu, Toreador, and Ventrue), two brand new tension systems, and an included Dark Ages adventure called One Last Goodbye - set in Northern Britannia, 700 CE. Not a subclass bolted onto existing rules. A full vampire class fuelled by blood, temptation, and the constant fight to stay human. In this video I break down exactly what's in the book, why the mechanics feel genuinely different from anything D&D has done with vampires before, and what it has in common with Blood Angels lore and Thousand Year Old Vampire - two other vampire stories built around the same uncomfortable idea: that being extraordinary always costs you something. Whether you're brand new to tabletop RPGs, a D&D player who's never heard of the World of Darkness, or someone who's been playing Vampire: The Masquerade since 1991 and is quietly judging all of this - this one's for you. What No One Tells You About MINAS TIRITH26 juin 202600:20:00
Most people who've seen Lord of the Rings think they know Minas Tirith. The great white city. The last stronghold of Gondor. The place that holds when nothing else can. But nobody actually talks about where it came from. And the real story is wild. Minas Tirith didn't start out as the capital of Gondor. It started as a small fort built to guard a graveyard. It was the lesser of two sister cities, an afterthought next to Minas Ithil. It held a palantír and not much else. The city we know and love was the backup plan that simply outlasted everything around it. This video covers the full origin story: the founding of Minas Anor in the Second Age under Elendil and his sons Isildur and Anárion, Sauron's attack and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, the long decline of Osgiliath, the Kin-strife civil war, the Great Plague of the Third Age, and the moment Minas Anor was finally renamed Minas Tirith, Tower of the Guard. I'm also talking about Anárion, who I think is one of the most underrated characters in Tolkien's legendarium, and making the case that Isildur deserves more credit than history gives him. All of this while building the LEGO Minas Tirith set. Knowing what this city went through makes holding these pieces feel completely different. If you're coming to Tolkien lore for the first time or you've been a fan for years, this series is built to be approachable, properly researched, and a bit different to what else is out there. Is This the Best TOLKIEN Event in Britain?16 juin 202600:18:36
I visited the @TolkienSociety Sarehole Festival, two days, £8, held at the Birmingham watermill that gave Tolkien the Shire. Here's what was there, what it was like, and why it matters more than you might think. Sarehole Mill in Hall Green, Birmingham was where Tolkien spent his childhood, running through fields, fishing in streams, and looking at an industrial skyline that many scholars believe became Mordor. The Tolkien Society brought it back to life for one weekend, and it was one of the most quietly extraordinary things I've attended. Rare first editions, Viking and Norse traders, birds of prey, live music, themed food, and a talk from rare book dealer Tom Ayling that I am still thinking about. In this video I break down everything Playground Games showed: the morality system that actually works differently to anything Fable has done before, the social and economic loop that had me buying a pub within minutes, the combat, the character customisation, and the one prediction I'm putting my name on for launch day. The Moment I Realised UKGE Wasn't About the Games04 juin 202600:28:18
I went to UK Games Expo 2026 with a plan, a packed lunch, and a very firm promise to myself that I was only going for the demos.I came home with dice, brushes, a painting handle, two solo RPGs, and the realisation that I apparently do actually like people. This is my honest experience of the UK's biggest tabletop gaming convention - the games I tried, the creators I met, the conversations that stuck with me, and why the whole thing ended up being far more about the people than the products. WARHAMMER 40K: Dawn of War 4 Gets The Mechanicus PERFECT21 mai 202600:33:06
The new Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 trailer is here and honestly… it might be the coolest look we’ve had at the Adeptus Mechanicus so far. So in this video I'm breaking down the weird world of Mars, machine gods, giant robot walkers, cybernetic soldiers, and why the Mechanicus might end up being one of the most unique factions in the entire game. If you’re completely new to Warhammer 40K, don’t worry, this is very much a beginner-friendly overview without any gatekeeping. Think of it less like a university lecture and more like chatting to a nerdy mate who’s had far too much caffeine and access to lore videos. I cover: What the Imperium actually isWho the Adeptus Mechanicus areWhy they worship machinesThe Noosphere Network gameplay mechanicsSkitarii, Ruststalkers, Kataphrons & Imperial KnightsWhy Dawn of War 4 is looking ridiculously promising already This trailer really does feel like classic Dawn of War energy again. Gothic sci-fi chaos. Giant war machines. Deeply unhealthy lore rabbit holes. Everything you could want from 40K. What EVEN Is a Mandalorian? STAR WARS Lore Explained Simply11 mai 202600:39:27
In this beginner-friendly guide to Mandalorian lore, I break down the complete Canon history of the Mandalorians in simple English without needing a Star Wars degree, three Wookieepedia tabs open, or emotional support from Dave Filoni. We cover everything from the origins of the Mando’ade and Mandalorian culture, to the Darksaber, Bo-Katan Kryze, Din Djarin, Grogu, the Clone Wars, the Great Purge of Mandalore, Death Watch, the Night of a Thousand Tears, and how all of this connects directly into The Mandalorian and Grogu movie. If you’ve ever sat through a Star Wars conversation nodding confidently while internally buffering like a Windows XP loading screen… this video is for you. This is a beginner’s guide focused on Canon Mandalorian lore, but we also touch on Legends, George Lucas canon, Disney canon, Tarre Vizsla, Jango Fett, Boba Fett, Mandalore, Mandalorian Space, the Jedi Order, the Galactic Republic, the Galactic Empire, the New Republic, and why Mandalorians somehow manage to turn every disagreement into a civil war. Whether you’re completely new to Star Wars lore or a long-time fan of The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Mandalorian, Knights of the Old Republic, Warhammer, LOTR, gaming, sci-fi, or fantasy storytelling, this is a deep dive into one of the most important cultures in Star Wars history. LOTR: Real Place That Inspired Tolkien’s Three-Farthing Stone03 mai 202600:28:32
Prefer to listen? Find me on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/0ojg... In this episode of Tolkien Tours, I head out into the English countryside to explore the real-world inspiration behind one of the most overlooked but surprisingly important locations in the Shire and how it connects to one of the most meaningful moments in Tolkien’s entire story. We’ll break down the lore, the symbolism, and the emotional weight behind the Three-Farthing Stone - before heading into the real history of the Four Shire Stone in the Cotswolds, a genuine historical boundary marker that may have inspired Tolkien himself.
