| Boosting Your Mood with a Dopamine Menu | 22 Oct 2024 | 00:29:09 | |
Hey, ADHD-ish fam! 🚀 Have you ever wondered why some neurodivergent business owners just seem to get so much done and others have a permanent seat on the struggle bus? Is it medication, meditation or exercise? Is it their morning routine or have they simply found the perfect productivity strategy that continues to escape you? In honor of ADHD Awareness Month, I’m sharing a game-changing strategy that has the power to lift your mood, energize your day, and keep you on track – introducing the Dopamine Menu! 🧠✨ First introduced by YouTuber Jessica Mc Cabe of “How to ADHD” and Eric Tivers of ADHD Rewired, the Dopamine Menu (or dopamenu for those who love shortcuts…) is a simple but wickedly effective tool for meeting our brain’s need for stimulation and reminding us where to get it, without getting ourselves into trouble. Dividing the things that stimulate our brains and give us a squirt of joy juice (dopamine) into easy to remember categories that resemble a restaurant menu - starters, mains, sides and desserts keeps the Dopamine Menu feeling playful and fun, so we will actually take advantage of it. The dopamine menu is to the ADHD-ish brain what meal planning and prep is to those who want to eat a healthier diet, but just can’t seem to break free from snack foods. The best part about having a Dopamine Menu is that you don’t have to follow it perfectly and you can change it up whenever you want, so it stays shiny and new. 🎙️ What You'll Learn:
Create a dopamine menu and post it on social media to get my feedback & I’ll shout YOU out on a future episode: Instagram: @coachdiannwingert - LinkedIn: Diann Wingert Coaching Listener Shout Out: This week's shout out goes to long time listener, Andrea Sousa, a paralegal and law student who shared how her ADHD traits of curiosity and hyperfocus help her excel at locating difficult to find names and addresses, to the amazement of everyone in her office. Thank you, Andrea, for spreading awareness and celebrating the unique strengths that come with ADHD! Caring is Sharing: If you're enjoying ADHD-ish, please share the podcast with another neurodivergent business owner. It's ADHD Awareness Month, so let's spread that awareness far and wide!

| Playing the Long Game in Business with Sandra Scaiano | 29 Nov 2022 | 00:50:33 | |
Sandra Scaiano is a web designer and brand strategist for female entrepreneurs. After a 20-year corporate career, she created a business that brings her joy and allows her to be present for her family and partner with clients who become raving fans and long-time friends. While many business strategists try to sell you on their "proven system", Sandra brings out the brilliance in each of her clients and helps them create and amplify their unique brand voice so they stand out and shine. When it comes to client attraction, it’s not about doing things better, it’s about being the singular choice for your just right clients. To do that, you need to lean into what makes you special, and that’s where Sandra comes in. Sandra and I connected through an online community of female business owners and I was immediately attracted to her message of playing the long game. The majority of business strategists and coaches are preaching overnight success stories, but don’t reveal that their “proven process” has a 3% success rate. For the other 97% (you and me and everyone else…) the long game is the game. We need to have the patience to try new things, start before we are ready, trust our instincts, and dance with failure. Over time, and through grit, determination, and resilience, we succeed. When you infuse joy into your business and learn to love the process, not just strive for the results, you have a business that is purpose-filled and profitable.
Mic drop moment: "I have a front-row seat to the back end of people's businesses."
Highlights from this exciting interview:

| What to Do Now to Grow Your Business in 2023 | 22 Nov 2022 | 00:29:23 | |
It's mid-November and the holidays are right around the corner. As a solopreneur, you can go all-in on a Black Friday Sale, take time off or just hunker down and wait out the rest of the year because "nobody buys coaching or consulting services in Q4." Well, I don't believe that, for the record, and I will still be selling in December, along with enjoying friends and family time. But, there's one more thing I am doing to insure I start 2023 strong, and prepared for growth. In fact, I'm doing it right now, so I decided to record this episode and share it with you. I am referring to my business audit, or "clean sweep." In episode #131 I talked about the need to manage our boundaries with time, energy, effort, money, and relationships. Here's the handy checklist in case you missed it https://bit.ly/5typeschecklist. The business audit shows you how to free up money, time, and energy in a very practical way that will start to release stress and overwhelm you so you have more energy and enthusiasm for growth in the new year. There are 3 phases of the audit:
You may feel some emotions as you go through this process, I did, but once they had passed I felt lighter and more optimistic about the future and I believe you will too if you try this strategy. If you think this is going to challenge you, do the 3 steps on different days and do it with a biz bestie for accountability. If you complete this process, I'd love to hear from you. Let me know how much money & time you saved yourself each month by DM'ing me @coachdiannwingert on IG or Linked In. Spending time and money on things that are not serving you and your business is one of the most common ways female solopreneurs slow their growth, but there are several behaviors that also hold us back. I created a quiz with 6 different behaviors I often see in female solopreneurs that slow their success. Here’s your invitation to take the quiz, and get specific feedback, guidance, and practical advice about your particular challenge and more importantly, steps you can take to fix it. | Why Women Think They Suck at Making Money with Tara Newman | 15 Nov 2022 | 00:58:14
Tara Newman is an organizational psychologist, certified Profit First consultant, host of the Bold Money Revolution Podcast, and leader of The Bold Profit Academy. Tara is exactly the kind of woman I want in my inner circle because she knows firsthand that being an expert, serving with purpose, and working your ass off doesn’t add up to a profitable business for most women and she’s on a bold mission to change that. Here are a few facts that Tara shared with me during our conversation that should help you recognize this episode is not only potentially a game changer for you and your business, but it is also one to share with another female business owner. According to a recent UBS Survey:
We also chat about what Tara calls an Owners Statement and how she differentiates between personal values and business values. This was an eye-opener: Most women want a fully remote business but that does not mean they want an online business. Make sure you listen for Tara’s Zombie Apocalypse analogy - which type of walking dead character are you? Want to connect with our guest?

| The 5 Types of Boundaries You Need in Business | 08 Nov 2022 | 00:52:33 | |
Summary The topic of boundaries has never been more important than it is now because entrepreneurs are burning out, and far too businesses aren't profitable. This straight-shooting solo episode will walk you through each of the five areas where you probably need to beef up your boundaries, how to know if you should, and the first step to take to find out. If you're thinking this is one more time-wasting task on your neverending To-Do list, think twice. These strategies are guaranteed to burnout-proof your business while boosting your bottom line. Host Notes One of the areas of business strategy I find most of my clients need help with is business boundaries, and often times they don't even realize it. Boundary problems may be the root cause when you find yourself working too much, making too little, and dealing with needy, demanding, or never-satisfied clients. Boundary problems are often to blame for working really hard but not moving forward, investing a ton in learning for your business but never having enough time to implement what you have learned. If any of this sounds familiar, this episode is for you. When we struggle with boundaries, we tend to feel resentful, frustrated and overwhelmed. We may think it's a time management issue or that we simply have too much to do and not enough support from others. The tendency to blame, whether ourselves or others is very tempting (I do it too, from time to time...) but nothing moves the needle like self-awareness and personal responsibility. This is truly empowering because when we recognize that we are part of the problem, we can then get busy creating a solution. And, in this episode, I am going to show you exactly how to get started. The 5 types of boundaries you need in your business are time, energy, money, people & effort. The place to start with each of them is to uncover where you are investing, spending, and wasting each of these resources. Behavior change is hard, and this episode is a big-picture overview. Pick one area and take the first step. Once you've made some progress, take another step or take the first step in another category. Every action we take that reduces our risk of burnout and increases our profit ratio improves the sustainability of our business and gives us more confidence in our entrepreneurial journey. Rather than buying yet another course or enrolling in yet another quick-fix program, take a look at where you can bolster your boundaries for free with these simple steps. Listening to this episode will give you the big-picture perspective on why you need better business boundaries, but to move the needle, you need to take action and for that, you need a roadmap. Click this link to get my PDF checklist “5 Types of Boundaries You Need in Your Business” with action steps for each area and links to free resources that will help you get started: https://bit.ly/5typeschecklist I am working on an audio course on the topic of boundaries for female solopreneurs, so stay tuned to be one of the first to hear about it when it’s released. Women who have the audacity to speak their truth without guilt or apology are absolutely some of my favorite people and today’s guest, Neena Perez and I became instant friends. As soon as I saw the name of her podcast, “Straight Talk, No Sugar Added”, and the title of her book, “Hit Me With Your Best Shot, How I Overcame a Hard Hitting Life”, I knew I was going to connect with business and performance coach, author, podcaster, and total baddie, Neena Perez. Neena is also a chef and director of culinary operations, so believe me when I say this woman is a powerhouse and I am excited to introduce you to her. Instead of giving into the mindset and way of life she saw growing up, Neena was determined to not only survive but to succeed. She knew that the key to overcoming her challenges was by changing her thinking, doing the work, and finding people to surround herself with who did not accept limits. Neena and I had such a great convo because she is just as direct and straightforward as I am. She is also wise, generous, kind, and funny. | There is No Magic Pill | 25 Oct 2022 | 00:36:54
Of all the things we need to learn how to master as a coach or consultant is expectation management. It is more important than your niche, your offers, your marketing, price point, packaging our expertise or what social media platforms to spend our time on. You can’t fully rely on your potential client to know what they expect from hiring you, either. You have to get ahead of the conversation by asking questions that reveal their unconscious beliefs and desires because those are the ones they will judge you by. Something I have come to understand is how often clients are looking for a Magic Pill and have zero self awareness that this is even the case. A Magic Pill is the belief that there will be a perfect solution to whatever we are struggling with, and they just keep trying different things until they find it. Sometimes we unwittingly participate in this search for a Magic Pill by the way we market our services and sell our programs by over stating the benefits. Change is hard and requires that we change our beliefs and our identity, not just our behavior. We all want solutions that are easy, fast and effortless, but meaningful and lasting change almost never is. In this no-BS solo episode, we are going to dismantle the myth of the Magic Pill, so we can offer our potential clients genuine value, and no-BS offers, not hype. Highlights of this episode:
Even if you aren’t desperately seeking magic pills, you may have habits in your business that cost you income, profit, and success. | Writing Emails They'll Want to Open with Meera Kothand | 18 Oct 2022 | 00:49:39
One of the complaints I hear most often from other female solopreneurs is that they find it close to impossible to write high-quality emails to their list, but not everyone is in a position to hire a copywriter to take that task off their hands. There are so many different kinds of emails that a business owner may need to send at different times from onboarding sequences to nurturing sequences, sales emails, and even invitations to unsubscribe when people have not been opening them for a while, that even those who are pretty confident about their writing skills, like me, can get pretty lost in the weeds. Today’s guest, Meera Kothand began her online business journey as a blogger and began writing books for other bloggers, several of which became Amazon best sellers. She now focuses on helping digital marketers write emails that convert subscribers to customers in a way that is both strategic and sustainable by making them more simple and fun, which was music to my ears. Even though I have purchased several of her books over the past few years, there were a couple of moments during this interview where some really critical strategies finally made complete sense to me. It was a really good reminder to be compassionate with myself about how long it really takes to learn to be successful as a solopreneur because of all the different skills we juggle on a daily basis with or without a team. I am making some changes in my emails as a result of this convo and you might find yourself motivated enough to get back on track with your email marketing too. Learn more about Meera:
Maybe the only thing holding you back is that you’re not writing emails that convert. If that’s the case, Meera has your back. | Are You Quiet Quitting in Your Business? | 11 Oct 2022 | 00:32:39
The world of work has experienced some pretty seismic changes in the past couple of years, leading up to three interrelated trends: the great resignation, the rise of solopreneurship, and quiet quitting. Productivity and employee engagement are down, way down and companies of all sizes can’t fill open positions or get the best out of the employees they have now. I first heard about quiet quitting on TikTok, and it really made me think about my own work history, and the challenges being faced by the five different generations that currently make up the workforce. If you are not familiar with the term, quiet quitting refers to doing only what is necessary at work, something my generation called “coasting.” A quiet quitter is not necessarily on their way out the door, but they are maintaining firm boundaries around their work hours and effort in order to maintain a better work-life balance. No after-hours checking of emails, no attending the company picnic, and no “going above and beyond” to gain favor from the higher-ups. What I find interesting in quiet quitting is the intention, not the behavior, because it can very easily be misconstrued. So is quiet quitting passive-aggressive, a precursor or sign of burnout, or an exit strategy, and what can we as solopreneurs learn from it? Highlights of this episode:

| Lessons From a Failed Launch | 27 Sep 2022 | 00:37:08 | |
Why am I pulling back the curtain on my own failed launch (while marketing myself as a business strategist, coach, and consultant?) And, why do it immediately after it happened? I must admit I had a lot of reservations about both the content and the timing, but one of my core values is integrity and for me, that means telling the whole truth about solopreneurship, the cringe-worthy as well as the brag-worthy. I also knew if I didn’t share it now, I would miss the true value of sharing our failures- giving shame the middle finger. If you are a solopreneur, you have to become comfortable with risk and failure. You need to try things without knowing how they will turn out, ask people to hire you even if you have imposter issues, make offers before you feel ready to do so and some of your programs, products, and services will fail. You are literally where the buck starts and stops, so getting better at dealing with failure is truly unavoidable. In this, my most vulnerable episode so far, I share the reasons that the recent launch of my new small group coaching program failed, what I learned from the experience, and what I am going to do next, because in business, as in theater, the show must go on! | Do Women with ADHD Attract Narcissistic Partners? | 13 Aug 2024 | 00:35:49
Several years ago, Rhoberta Shaler, PhD, interviewed me on the topic of whether women with ADHD are at greater risk for entering into a relationship with a narcissist or toxic partner on her podcast “Save Your Sanity.” I have not done any qualitative research on the subject, but based on my experience as a psychotherapist and a coach, I have seen plenty of evidence that it may be true. I was contemplating recording a solo episode on the topic when I learned that Dr Shaler passed away unexpectedly in April 2024. So, instead of recording something on my own, I decided to share the best parts of the original interview on her show in honor of her important work. In this episode, Dr Shaler and I explore how women with ADHD, who tend to be quite intuitive often miss the warning signs that the person they are involved is a narcissist. We unpack everything from the addictive allure of unpredictable partners to the internalized shame that makes us more vulnerable to remain in unhealthy relationships. Our dialog offers a fresh perspective on the dopamine deficiency that drives us, insights on how rejection sensitivity, impulsivity, and the hidden brilliance of ADHD play a part in partner selection. If you have ever found yourself in a manipulative relationship, or questioned your self-worth, this conversation will provide the validation you need to seek out more information and healing. Mic Drop Moment: "I believe that women with ADHD can sense the abnormality in the hijackal’s behavior and the inconsistencies in how they behave, but we override our ability to trust our intuition because of our persistent self-doubt and all the negative messages that we have internalized." | Negotiation Skills for Solopreneurs: Overcome Fear and Get Paid What You Deserve | 20 Sep 2022 | 00:49:32
I recently connected with leadership coach and consultant, Joanne Zuk, and liked her immediately. We both came to solopreneurship after long and successful careers in another sector. Joanne was in public service and I worked in nonprofits. In her current role, Joanne is on a mission to help female solopreneurs overcome their fears of negotiation so they can go after and get what they deserve and desire. Joanne is a leadership coach and consultant, a women's negotiation advisor, course creator, and speaker who helps women around the world ditch their discomfort around negotiation, and leverage strategies that actually work for women. In this lively convo, we talk about the 5 blindspots that cause women to settle for less than they want in negotiations, and how to get comfortable going from the minimum level to the dignified level to the generous level. We talk about feminine conditioning, why negotiating like a man just won’t work for most women, and how we can use empathy to create better outcomes for both sides, instead of allowing empathy to be used against us.

| Stronger Leadership for Business Growth: Is It Time to Boss Up? | 13 Sep 2022 | 00:43:51 | |
Have you ever heard the term “boss up?” I started using it with my one-to-one coaching clients about a year ago, at times when they needed and wanted to change their mindset and take new actions. Usually, this happened because they had plateaued, believed they were stagnating, or just felt stuck and were ready to do whatever it took to move beyond it. I had been trying to decide on a name for the signature framework I spent months creating (with the help of a consultant I’ve mentioned on this podcast, Claudia Schalkx.) I looked up the term “boss up” and recognized instantly that it was the perfect name for my framework. Here’s the Urban Dictionary definition of boss up: “take ownership of one's life, by directing the full capacity of time, resources, and attention toward a specific direction, goal, or intent. In other words: step up, raise your standard, up your game, and take responsibility for the direction of your life and the full maturity of your dreams.” Just substitute business for life and you will see what this program is all about. We opened the doors for sign-ups for the very first cohort of Boss Up Breakthrough yesterday and I wanted to let you know who it’s for, how to know if you are ready, and invite you to join us. How we set ourselves up for problems in business:

| The Power of Purpose: Leading with Your Values | 06 Sep 2022 | 00:40:56 | |
I recently connected with today’s guest through our common belief that high-achieving women are most fulfilled when they are working in alignment with their core values, setting boundaries that honor them, and mentoring other women to do the same. Laura has a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology and is a college professor, author, podcaster, advocate, and coach. She is also a wife and mom to two young sons. Laura’s company, The Catch Group, was founded on the principle of living a life guided by your values. They believe that leaders should bring their authentic leadership to the workplace to build inclusive teams and that leaders should be able to have big career goals AND career fulfillment. Laura believes that top leadership at companies should be diverse and that women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ leaders need to hold more top jobs at companies. We hold very similar beliefs on women and ambition, values, boundaries, resilience, organizational dynamics, workplace culture, diversity, and change. Here is what you’ll learn in today’s episode:
Want more of Laura Eigel?
Laura Eigel and I both work with high-achieving women and one of the common themes is that in spite of our effort, there is often a gap between where we are and where we want to be. | The Cure for Imposter Syndrome | 30 Aug 2022 | 00:26:23
Human beings have a need to understand themselves and others. We label behavior and decide what is normal and what is not. Our culture is particularly fond of pathologizing behavior and especially the behavior of women. The way we speak to and about ourselves matters a lot. We have all literally learned to think of ourselves in a certain way from an early age and it is a lot harder to change those beliefs than it is to question them before they stick. We have all used labels to refer to ourselves and others in ways that are harmful, inaccurate, and lasting. Referring to ourselves as having imposter syndrome may be spot on, or not. When we lack the confidence to start a business, ask to be paid for our services, are afraid to raise our rates, set boundaries with clients, or hold our team members to a higher standard, is it imposter syndrome, or could it be something else? Just because you don’t feel comfortable introducing yourself as a business owner at a virtual mixer, doesn’t mean imposter syndrome is the reason. Your challenges may be a mindset issue, but they might just as well be an issue of experience or skill. I unpack the cure for imposter syndrome by helping you figure out that imposter syndrome is not what is going on with you, so you can do something about what is. Imposter syndrome is the description of a very specific kind of problem that occurs among high-achieving women who attribute their accomplishments to luck rather than to competency, effort, and determination. It should not be used as a ‘catchall” phrase for every time any of us is scared, unprepared, or avoids anything uncomfortable in business. Sometimes we need to do something different not just think something different. Resource mentioned in this episode: My buddy, non-sleazy sales specialist, Annie P Ruggles
I warned you. She is brilliant. You might just fall in love with sales because of Annie. And you will definitely fall in love with Annie! So, maybe you figured out you really don’t have Imposter Syndrome. Hooray! But wait, you still aren’t crushing your goals. No worries. | Marketing Your Genius: A Client Success Story with Meredith Ferguson | 23 Aug 2022 | 00:46:09
I love helping female solopreneurs find their genius, so they can create a satisfying and sustainable business doing what they do best. Today’s guest is client Meredith Ferguson, who decided to work with me because she had two fledging businesses and neither of them was profitable. She had a lot of natural talent but no systems and no boundaries. She wanted a legitimate business but was literally giving her work away and because she wasn’t taking herself seriously as a business owner, no one else did either. We worked together for several months in my 1:1 coaching program, and one of the first things we did was to set her Pilates business on auto-pilot so she would focus on her website design business. Then, it was time to get busy creating boundaries, eliminating bartering, and being a beck-and-call-girl for everyone who needed help with their website but wasn’t paying for it. Getting rid of the “freeples” (people who want what you’ve got and expect to get it for nothing) and learning to value her time and skill were some of Meredith’s biggest Boss Up moves during our work together. Highlights of this convo:
Mic Drop Moment: “I always heard that you teach people how to treat you but I didn’t get it until now. If you don’t communicate your boundaries, you can’t expect people to know what they are.” Meredith Ferguson Want your website to do more for your business than just sit there? | Right-Size Your Business to Fit Your Life | 16 Aug 2022 | 00:48:00
If you are like most of us, you jumped into your online business with nothing more than the intense desire to BYOB ( Be Your Own Boss, that is…) and put your faith in the celebrity coaches and online gurus to show you the way. Now you are a few years into it, working too many hours, making too little money, and feeling super stressed about how to get anything else done in the rest of your life. It’s time to do a reality check, climb out from under our sunk cost and shame and forgive ourselves, so we can get busy right-sizing our business. None of those gurus is living your life, paying your bills, or coping with your problems so you are the expert on how your business should actually look and how to make it fit your life, instead of taking over your life. You can right-size your business, no matter how long you have been in it, by asking yourself some important questions and making the changes that align with your honest answers. Things to Consider to Right-Size Your Business:
There is no one “right-size” business for everybody because each of us has a different life, responsibilities, challenges, and priorities. Your business can change as your stage of life and opportunities change, so don’t shoehorn yourself into anyone else’s version of a dream business. You don’t “have to” do anything unless it’s right and sustainable for you. Did you recognize yourself in any of the ways I talked about in this episode? So many of my clients knew they were struggling and suspected they were holding themselves back in their business when they hired me, and one of the first things we did was to assess their mindset and habits. If you don’t know what isn’t working, you won’t know what to change, right? I created a quiz with 6 different behaviors I often see in female solopreneurs that limit their income, profit, and success. Once you take the quiz, you will receive specific feedback, guidance, and practical advice about your particular challenge and more importantly, steps you can take to fix it. | What Does Trauma Have to Do with Your Business? with Nicole Lewis-Keeber | 09 Aug 2022 | 00:48:19
I am pretty sure I am not the only one who has noticed the dramatic increase in the number of coaches who refer to themselves as ‘trauma-focused”, ‘trauma-aware” or “trauma-conscious.” There is no question that there is a tremendous need. Half of all women have experienced trauma at some time in their lives and there is a significant percentage of traumatized people who become entrepreneurs. Because I work with female entrepreneurs, I wanted to address this issue on the podcast, and talk with someone who is a legitimate expert on the intersection of trauma and entrepreneurship, so I invited Nicole Lewis-Keeber back as my first return guest. Nicole has spent years studying, training, and developing her expertise in this area as a licensed psychotherapist, coach, facilitator, speaker, trainer, and published author. She created her signature program “Do No Harm” because simply having a personal history of trauma and the desire to help others does not qualify anyone as “trauma-conscious.” This convo may be triggering to some, but I hope will listen all the way to the end of the episode. This subject is far too important to not address, even if it might ruffle some feathers. Nicole and I discuss:

| Getting Better at Hearing "No" | 02 Aug 2022 | 00:41:55 | |
If you have been a regular listener, you know that I am obsessed with helping female solopreneurs gain confidence and courage so they can pursue and achieve their goals and dreams. One of the most common scenarios I encounter with my business strategy and coaching clients the fear of hearing the word “no. I have been interviewed on the topic of entrepreneurship and rejection sensitivity on several other podcasts, so I know this is a pretty widespread struggle. There are a number of ways we unconsciously resist hearing no that actually limit our income, profit, and success in business. Behaviors such as never raising our prices, asking a team member to learn something new, and avoiding creating new offers are a few. Many of us go so far out of our way to avoid being rejected that we basically reject the chance of being found, hired, and paid. Or, we just don’t ask for the sale, avoid using a Call to Action in our marketing, and “forget” to follow up with prospects. With everything I am learning about confidence, failure, and resiliency, I have come to the conclusion that getting better at dealing with “no” is a skill that all of us need to get better at. Think of it this way: we either need to learn how to deal more effectively with “no” or get used to settling for less than we truly want. The main issue is what we make it mean when we hear no, especially for those who are shy, introverted, highly creative, socially anxious, and who experience rejection sensitivity, but the good news is that getting better at hearing no is a skill that anyone can learn. I share several strategies that have been helpful to my clients and also to myself, including one I adapted from my experiences as a psychotherapist, including:
Also mentioned in this episode: “Go for No” by Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz https://amzn.to/3vjEtaZ Did you recognize yourself in any of the ways I talked about in this episode? | You Need a Virtual Assistant with Belinda Sandor | 26 Jul 2022 | 00:34:05
Just because you work for yourself, doesn’t mean you need to work by yourself. Hiring a virtual assistant can be one of the best investments in your solopreneur business because you simply can’t do everything on your own as efficiently and profitably as you can with the right kind of help. I can say without reservation that hiring a VA changed my business and I should have done it sooner. Today’s guest, Belinda Sandor, is a business workflow and productivity expert with 25 years of experience, and the founder of RocketGirl Solutions. After years of being hired by small businesses on a contract basis to act as their part-time “business manager,” she turned her experience into founding The VA Connection, a professional online community with the goal of educating and connecting independent virtual assistants around the world. Belinda is also a sought-after speaker and has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Reader’s Digest, and other national and local media. Our conversation today is about how to partner with your VA so that they can accelerate your business growth and profit. Want to connect with Belinda Sandor? Let me count the ways!
A virtual assistant can be a tremendous asset in your business, but just having one isn’t going to solve every problem, especially if those challenges are related to your business mindset. | What's Your Unfair Advantage? How to Know and How to Use It | 19 Jul 2022 | 00:31:40
In this value-packed solo episode, I share my perspective on a word that is totally overutilized in the coaching industry: AUTHENTICITY; and why I think what is being taught by many is actually manipulative AF and anything but authentic. My definition of authenticity involves true vulnerability, courage, and risk-taking and is strategic, not tactical. IMHO, authenticity is your unfair advantage, but there is more to it than that. What else can contribute to your unfair advantage?
The more authentic I have become, the more I have been learning to unmask myself and share who I am, and the more I understand that I’m not the only one who feels like a square peg in a round hole, who has paid a high price for conforming to the norm and is learning to excavate myself from under layers of cultural conditioning that began almost in the womb. But, authenticity as your unfair advantage does not mean sharing everything with everybody indiscriminately, either. What you share with the public, with your audience, and with your clients can, and probably should differ and authenticity never involves breaching trust or exposing information involving others when you have not requested consent. Also mentioned in this episode:
If you find yourself thinking “I have no idea how to be authentic in my business” or “unfair advantage? Nope, I’m offering the same thing as everyone else”, it might be time to invest in the expert guidance of a business strategist and mindset coach. Being a solopreneur can be overwhelming and you don’t have to figure it out alone. The first step is to identify which habits and behaviors are holding you back. | Four Ways to Enhance Your Creativity | 06 Aug 2024 | 00:35:27
Most people with ADHD traits are original thinkers and creative problem solvers, but don’t always know how to make the most of these abilities. My own search lead me to the work of psychologist JP Guilford who studied creativity in the 950s, and is based on the notion that all creativity is evidence of divergent thinking. Spoiler alert: if you are neurodivergent, you are creative, even if you don’t think of yourself that way. In this episode, using Guilford’s model, I will break down the four different types of creativity (aka divergent thinking) and share simple, effective strategies for how to enhance yours, from brainstorming and mind mapping to perspective shifting and role-playing. Troubled by your tendency to go off on tangents? Have trouble making decisions because you can see the benefits of every option? Feel self conscious about your impulsivity and intuition? It’s all evidence of your divergent, creative thinking! Don't forget to share this episode with a fellow creative and choose one new strategy to implement this week. Guilford’s Model of Divergent Thinking (aka Creativity)
We’ll not only cover tools and techniques to amplify your creativity in each of these four areas, but how to protect your creativity through strategic rest, structured downtime and how to avoid toxic productivity and revenge bedtime procrastination. Also mentioned in this episode:

| Becoming Confident on Video with Helen Polise | 12 Jul 2022 | 00:49:39 | |
Whether we are talking about YouTube, Instagram Reels, or TikTok, showing up online increasingly relies on being on video. You can still reach people with your words via blogging, or your voice, via podcasting, but when you add video to the mix, you 10x the connection your audience feels with you, turbo-charging the process of converting casual observer into a devoted follower and potential client. So, why aren’t all of us jumping on the video bandwagon? The top three obstacles are technology, bandwidth, and confidence, and I am pretty damn sure that confidence (or lack of it) is the biggest hurdle. Helen Polise is my inspiration and today’s guest on the podcast. A successful producer of TV commercials for the past three decades, Helen knows her way around a camera and how to attract and engage an audience. She took her pandemic pause and turned it into her new passion: teaching TikTok! I also had a not-so-hidden agenda for this interview. If you listen all the way to the end, you’ll see how and you’ll also see exactly why I can’t say enough about Helen Polise. The Tik Tok Teacher's Tips for Video Confidence

| Attract Your Dream Clients: Building an Application Process for Success | 05 Jul 2022 | 00:35:23 | |
If you are a coach, consultant or other professional service providers, I don’t have to tell you how frustrating it is to be on a sales call with someone who is not a legitimate prospect and believe me, it feels bad for them too. When you are just getting started, you may choose to work with almost anyone who is able and willing to hire you, but once you are established, and find yourself in the enviable position of having a waiting list or being able to hand pick your clients, you need a system. Having a screening or application process in place allows you to focus on identifying and serving only those clients that have the motivation, expectations, and resources to benefit from working with you, who will achieve amazing outcomes, and who will happily sing your praises, all of which helps keep your pipeline full. We have all heard that you need to attract your ideal clients and repel everyone else, but how do you do this in a practical and efficient way? One of the strategies I have developed in order to make sure I am getting in front of the right people, for the right reason at the right time is my consultation process and the language I use and the questions I ask of anyone scheduling a consultation with me. I use Calendly, but you can apply the same process to Acuity, Schedule Once or any other online scheduler. In this value-packed solo episode, I walk you through my exact system and how it benefits both me and the prospective client, even if we decide not to work together.

| Embracing Creativity: A Client Success Story Episode With Lauren Hirsch | 28 Jun 2022 | 00:46:00 | |
I love working with creatives and today’s guest, my client Lauren Hirsch was one of my favorites. Lauren decided to work with me after interviewing several other coaches and even having the first session with one of them. She had just been diagnosed with ADHD and was struggling to find direction in her career, create consistent habits, and feel more confident and intentional. We worked together for 12 weeks in my 1:1 coaching program, from November - to February. Literally the day after we finished our engagement, her boyfriend of several years, whom she was living with, broke off the relationship. Lauren had to move out, find a new place to live, and was looking for a new job at the same time. With this much disruption and change, Lauren was worried that all the positive changes in mindset and habits we had created together would be lost. I must admit I was a little worried about that, too. What you will hear in this Client Success Story interview, which was recorded almost four months after we finished working together, is that did not happen. In fact, not only is Lauren thriving in her new job and apartment, but the work we did together is so evident in the way she sees herself, the way she makes decisions, and most of all, her identity as a creative. Lauren learned that being a creative means she literally sees and experiences the world differently, so she really can’t look to others for acceptance and approval, without first giving it to herself. She wanted help with career direction, self-confidence, creating more structure and routines in her life, and managing her impulsivity as a multi-passionate creative. What she got was all that, and a whole lot more. Lauren and I talk about:
Mic Drop Moment: “Creativity is an identity, not a behavior.” Lauren Hirsch

| I Hate My Business. Now What? | 21 Jun 2022 | 00:21:59 | |
If you are a woman who has started her own business, I don’t have to tell you that you face quite a few challenges. You have to know why you're in business, your goals and obstacles, and what's working and what isn't working. You also need to know how to ask for the money, how much money to ask for, and how to feel good about asking for it. In other words, even in the most simple, solopreneur business: coaching, consulting or professional services, you need to know your why, what you are trying to achieve, your advantages and disadvantages, and what aspects of your business are actually driving your success and which ones are inhibiting or delaying it. Our relationship with money is the other elephant in the room, and a surprising number of women have trouble with establishing their prices, selling, and accepting payment. With all these challenges, the majority of us dive head first into consuming content about business, hoping it will make the daunting task of decision-making easier or more comfortable. There is nothing wrong with seeking advice, consulting or coaching, but the risk of following others, either too many experts or over-reliance on a so-called “expert” is you may very well end up with a business you hate. As hard as it is to admit, you would not be alone if you ever said or thought this. In fact, there is a growing number of women who have hit the wall in their business and don’t know what to do. Like everything else in life, it starts with self-awareness. What you’ll learn in today’s episode:
If you find yourself thinking “I hate my business”, you don’t have to figure this out alone. The first step is to figure out the habits and behaviors that are holding you back. Take my quiz and you will find out your specific challenge but will receive feedback, guidance, and practical advice about steps you can take to fix it. | Launching a Coaching Business: A Client Success Story with Pam Peterson | 14 Jun 2022 | 00:48:07
I just love inviting someone I have worked with to join me on the podcast for a Client Success Story episode. As you will hear in the preview to this one, I do not interview my clients during or immediately after we have completed my 12 week coaching program, when the bond is strong and they are flying high on how much we have accomplished together. I wait a few months, because I am not interested in only helping my clients during the time they are actively working with me. My goal is to set them up for the kind of success that lasts, and that they can maintain on their own. In this convo, you will meet my client Pam Peterson, who is a health and wellness coach, specializing in working with women with chronic pain in a mind-body-brain framework. Pam has a masters degree, a bunch of certifications and has learned what actually works for chronic pain, because she has been living with it for years. Pam and I talk about:

| Maybe it's Not "Just" Procrastination | 07 Jun 2022 | 00:36:30 | |
If you are anything like me, you have a tendency to procrastinate. You procrastinate on the trivial, but also on things that are important to you and when you do, it can create a lot of seriously negative consequences. You might even think of yourself as a “procrastinator” (something I do not recommend, and talk about why, in this episode.) I believe that everyone procrastinates on some tasks, some of the time, but it’s just too easy to dump all those times when you said you would do something and you aren’t doing on the procrastination pile. But, what if it isn’t “just” procrastination? What if it’s resistance, avoidance, imposter complex, resentment, or even your intuition pointing you in a different direction? Sometimes, labeling our behavior as “just” procrastination doesn’t go deep enough to identify the real issue. When this is the case, treating it as procrastination isn’t going to work, or worse, get you even deeper into something that isn’t right for you. There are times when we need to push ourselves and “just do it” and other times we need a completely different approach. In this solo episode, we explore the different scenarios that we might incorrectly label as “just procrastination” that really aren’t, what is actually going on, and what to do about it. Discussed in this episode:
I have struggled with procrastination for most of my life, even as a high achieving and highly educated individual, until I learned that what appears to be “just procrastination” isn’t always so. Learning that what I was labeling 'just procrastination" when it was something else helped me solve the real problem. If you are struggling with procrastination, maybe it’s because you are trying to do something that is not aligned with your values, which creates resistance. The good news is you can get crystal clear on your top 5 values and use them to make better decisions in your business and life. Wanna know how? | The $250K Business Breakthrough with Laura Khalil | 31 May 2022 | 01:06:10
This is a conversation I have been looking forward to having for quite a while because my guest, Laura Khalil specializes in helping female consultants make $250K. First off, I was intensely curious, why $250K, when the majority of business coaches and consultants are talking about helping their clients hit 6-figures or 7-figures? I already knew that the skills and strategies that get you to 100k are not going to get you to 250k, but when you are not promoting group programs, courses, or having the leverage and scale convo, what else is there? Well, this is where we are going in today’s super exciting conversation. I am so rarely speechless, but it literally happened in this interview because of all I learned from Laura and can’t wait to share with you. Laura pulls back the curtain on:
Mic Drop Moment: “The secret to earning $250K as a consultant is not a secret. You need to become highly referable.” Laura Khalil If you’d like to connect with Laura Khalil, here are a few ways to do so:

| Surviving Life's Challenges: Essential Lessons for Overcoming Adversity | 24 May 2022 | 00:24:12 | |
After many years of “winging it” as my preferred modus operandi, I knew I would have to become less spontaneous and more of a planner when I decided to launch this podcast two years ago. Once I decided to commit to it, I learned to become a planner and even found I liked it. But sometimes, in spite of our planning, things go sideways and shit happens. My husband and I just relocated for the second time in barely three years and the experience has been full of surprises, and not the good kind. This episode is not about planning or being consistent, at least not directly. It is about the fact that many times in life, things do not go as we intend or expect, no matter how well we have planned. Life has an uncanny knack for throwing us just enough curveballs to have some of us thinking ‘why bother?” about planning, while others become humorless control-freaks trying to get life to conform to their will. I decided to record this episode instead of the one I had planned in order to give you a behind the scenes look into some of my personal challenges, a peek into my podcast production process and share my perspective, evolution and growth as a human being. My life experiences over the past few weeks have been such a good reminder that we need to manage our mindset, not just our To Do list. My editor gave it a thumbs up, saying “this one is for the planner and perfectionist who sweats the small stuff and wants to control everything, that’s me.” I just knew if it spoke to her, it would speak to you too. Discussed in this episode:

| Writing Your Own Rules in Online Business with Deanna Seymour | 17 May 2022 | 00:48:12 | |
Just imagine a high school art teacher, wife, and mom trying to start an online business. She loves her students and teaching itself but all the rules of the profession are sucking the joy right out of her. In spite of her boundless enthusiasm and endless creativity, plus years of side hustle experience, like the rest of us, this wantrepreneur turns to the alleged “experts” in the field, the high priestesses of online marketing. The ones who make 'the rules". These celebrity coaches and online marketing gurus have made multi-million dollars selling their courses and coaching programs, and they have pages and pages of testimonials gushing over them, so it had to be “The Way”, and they had a right to make The Rules, only it wasn’t and they don't. Several courses later, this teacher, whom we will call Deanna (because that’s actually her name) is not only not getting anywhere closer to the promised land of the laptop lifestyle, but she is starting to feel just as disillusioned with this whole online entrepreneur thing as she was as a teacher. See the real problem? Is poor Deanna doing something wrong or did she simply get caught up in the “results, not typical” marketing hype that has made celebrity coaches fabulously wealthy while leaving most of their students blaming themselves for not being one of the success stories they bring on stage at their high ticket sales events? Well, as you might have guessed, Deanna is today’s guest on The Driven Woman Podcast and she is also the graphic designer and coach that I recently hired and will start working with in June, to help me write MY own rules when it comes to Instagram. Here is what you’ll learn in today’s episode:

| Therapy vs. Coaching: Choosing the Right Path to Your Goals | 10 May 2022 | 00:45:39 | |
One of the subjects I am asked for my opinion on most often is the confusion between therapy and coaching. I guess you could say I am uniquely qualified to address this topic because before I trained and certified as a coach, I was a licensed psychotherapist for over twenty years. It has become a complicated, contradictory and at times controversial subject and one that a growing number of people are talking about. After being asked this question in a number of interviews on other podcasts, I decided it was time to discuss it on The Driven Woman. The point here is not that therapists are better, safer, or more competent across the board. I know many fine coaches who do excellent work and hold themselves to standards of integrity and ethics that equal those of any licensed therapist. I have also known a number of therapists who were mediocre at best. In this episode, I hope to raise awareness, stimulate some thinking, and most of all, encourage people to trust their intuition and do their homework. In this episode, I make the offer to personally respond to anyone who has a follow-up question on this subject after listening to the full episode. The options are: DM me at IG @coachdiannwingert or email me at diann@diannwingertcoaching.com. Discussed in this episode:

| Declutter Your Life: Make Space for What Matters | 03 May 2022 | 00:47:27 | |
Kathi Burns definitely found her calling as a professional organizer. She has been helping others eliminate clutter for over 17 years, has written an entire book on the subject, hosts a weekly podcast called Organized and Energized, and is even more enthusiastic about eliminating clutter to create more freedom than she was when she started. Once I learned that Kathi had been a travel writer who literally lived out of a suitcase and that she has also lived on a boat, I knew she was a bona fide expert in doing more with less. This conversation was both informative and fun, because I know quite a bit about productivity, but learned so much from Kathi about the benefits of tackling our problems with paper. Addressing our paper piles is an easy way to create more order in our environment and eliminating them frees up both space and energy, reduces distractions, and increases clarity. We all have better things to do than spend an average of 3 hours a week searching for things, which is one of the eye-opening facts Kathi shared in this lively conversation. After implementing her Get It Gone system, Kathi promises her clients that they can find anything they need in 30 seconds. How’s that for a value proposition? So, if you’re ready to listen and learn from this self-proclaimed Paper Wrangler, and go from piling to filing, let’s jump right in!

| Feeling Stuck? Bust Through Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt (FUD) to Achieve Your Goals | 26 Apr 2022 | 00:34:35 | |
Everyone has heard of FOMO, but have you also heard of FUD? I hadn’t either, until a recent conversation with my son Andre on the topic of bitcoin. FUD stands for Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt and I am going to guess that these emotions are something you are more than familiar with, especially during these last couple of years. Once I heard the term and learned its history, I actually scrapped the podcast I was planning to create for this week and recorded this one instead. I hope you agree that it is both timely and relevant. The acronym FUD was coined in 1975, but variations of it have been used back to the 1920s and even in the late 1860s. It is a propaganda tactic used in politics, polling, public relations, sales and marketing, and inside cults. FUD involves disseminating negative and false, misleading, or dubious information with the purpose of evoking fear. That fear is intended to manipulate people into remaining loyal party members, clients, or customers by highlighting the perceived risk of exploring alternatives. From fake and conspiracy theories to the sleazy tactics of ‘bro’ marketing, examples of FUD in modern culture are too numerous to count. In this episode, I will share:

| Breaking the Box for Married Female Entrepreneurs with Naketa Thigpen | 19 Apr 2022 | 00:49:05 | |
My guest today, Naketa Thigpen, and I have so much in common that this interview is actually our third or fourth conversation since we were introduced. We both have a background as licensed clinical social workers, we both have a childhood trauma history and we share very similar views about women and ambition, the patriarchy, and being a bit too out of the box to ever fit in. Naketa’s book, Selfish is currently on my bedside table, and her podcast, Balance Boldly for Ambitious Women in Business is in my earholes on a weekly basis. We quickly discovered that we can literally talk for hours unless one of us calls it quits and I honestly feel like we have been friends for years, not weeks. The number of female entrepreneurs continues to rise, but there really aren’t too many people talking about women and ambition, giving ourselves permission to want, do and have more or the impact of entrepreneurship on marriage. These intersections are where Naketa is making her mark and creating her thought leader legacy. Join us for this wide-ranging conversation about being bold, creating joy, and balancing a romantic partnership with a growing business. In this interview, Naketa breaks down and explains the GIFT method she created to invite ambitious married entrepreneurs into a new way of looking at themselves and their life and work style:
We talk about where drive and ambition come from, the difference between being creative and being an entrepreneur, where the concept of selfishness comes from, and how Naketa has redefined it for herself and the community of married female entrepreneurs she serves. I share a story about how the word selfish impacted me when I chose to end my previous marriage and how I think of selfishness now. Naketa has a unique perspective on gratitude and why it has to be the real deal, not pretending to be grateful as an excuse for not pursuing our deepest dreams. They ARE the power skills.” If you’d like to connect with Naketa Thigpen (and I recommend that you do) here are some of the options: The Joy Map Method Masterclass: https://www.asknaketa.com/joymapmethod-masterclass-for-married-entrepreneurs/ Her book: Selfish ( I am reading it now…) https://amzn.to/3uTnvPV Podcast: Balance Boldly for Ambitious Women in Business https://apple.co/3DIEf0i Find & Follow Naketa on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/asknaketa/ Thinking about working with Diann? | The Boundaries Series: Boundaries as Self Care | 12 Apr 2022 | 00:32:43
This is the fourth and final episode in The Boundaries Series, and this one is called “Boundaries as Self Care”. Many solopreneurs were superstars in their former jobs and many of us came to self-employment with ingrained habits of overworking including taking work home, skipping vacations, and even going to work when we were sick, instead of taking our company PTO. Women are not conditioned to put their needs first, so when we become solopreneurs, we often end up over extended, overworking, and overwhelmed between the needs of our families and the needs of our business. In this episode, we are going to talk about boundaries as self-care. Here is some of what you will hear in this episode:
If you are your own boss, be a good boss to yourself and structure your business with boundaries and self-care in mind. Not only will you reduce the risk of burnout, but you will also be a more successful and satisfied business owner. Unless burnout is part of your business plan, we need to make self-care a priority. Things to consider in establishing your self-care boundaries:
I encourage you to listen to EP #95: Creating Consistent Client Outcomes, EP #97 Obligation Management, and EP #99 The Distraction-Free Business. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself talking back to my tough-love approach in these Boundaries Series episodes. I had to learn these lessons the hard way myself and they do tend to need some repetition to take hold. Is there a gap between where you are and where you want to be? Do you know why? | My 100th Episode Special Edition: Lessons in Entrepreneurship from "Inventing Anna" | 05 Apr 2022 | 00:30:11
The tagline for “Inventing Anna” is: “Inspired by the true story of a total fake.” Of course, I was instantly hooked, along with millions of other Netflix subscribers. Within a week, several of my clients, friends, and family members were messaging me, excitedly asking “Are you watching Inventing Anna?” and I am pretty sure I know why. First of all, I was a licensed therapist for many years before becoming a coach, I am attracted to complex and complicated characters, and I am known for having really good instincts about people. They know I am especially fascinated by women who step out of the shadows and shine brightly, one way or another. I had never even heard of Anna Delvey before seeing it in the top series section on Netflix but became pretty obsessed with her. After binge-watching the Netflix series, I read articles, watched interviews and documentaries, and scrolled through all the IG accounts that may or may not be hers. But this episode is not about my psychological assessment of Anna’s character, motives, or personality pathology. It is about my thoughts on the skills and mindset that almost made her a very successful founder and entrepreneur, someone I think we can learn from, regardless of what we think of her motivation or methods. So, what ARE those lessons?
This episode includes a clip from my interview on “The True Fiction Project Podcast’ with host Reenita Hora. If you want to hear me speculate about what drives Anna Delvey, whether she was/is a narcissist or a sociopath, did a history of childhood trauma leave her incapable of empathy, and more, check it out! There was very little holding Anna Delvey back, and she didn’t let “little things” like a lack of money, connections or influence stand in her way. At least until those four years in Riker’s Island held her back in a very big way. But what about you? Chances are there is a single habit that if you could identify and change would help you realize your entrepreneurial dreams without breaking any laws! | The Boundaries Series: How to Create a Distraction-Free Business | 29 Mar 2022 | 00:48:22
This is the third in The Boundaries Series of solo episodes, and this one is called How to Create a Distraction-Free Business. Spoiler alert: it comes down to self-awareness, self-acceptance, and having decent boundaries. Most female solopreneurs are working from home, with one or more other beings in their space. Knowing how to manage our distractions and how we use distractions to avoid other uncomfortable feelings like resentment and self-doubt are half the battle to being productive from home. If you are a work-from-home solopreneur in a service-based business, I encourage you to go back and listen to the previous episodes in this Boundaries Series: EP #95: Creating Consistent Client Outcomes and EP #97 Obligation Management. Here is some of what you will hear in this episode: Tools for Self Awareness when it comes to distractions:

| The Client Journey in 6 Steps with Abby Herman | 22 Mar 2022 | 00:56:01 | |
If you have an online business (or even a brick-and-mortar business you market online) you are a content marketer. Content includes blogs, podcasts, YouTube channels, email sequences, newsletters, sales pages, social media posts, and even short-form videos on TikTok, Linked In, IG, or FB. Content is everywhere and in order to leverage the know, like, and trust factor, you need to have a strategy, not just put yourself out there in a random way and hope it works. Whether you have a lot to say but it’s all over the place or your mind goes completely blank the minute you sit down in front of your laptop to write an email sequence, there is hope for you. Today’s guest, Abby Herman was an elementary school teacher who took her talent for writing and teaching and launched a business as a content strategist over a decade ago. She helps online entrepreneurs to create awareness, educate and inform, demonstrate their expertise, convert consumers to customers, and long-lasting relationships. She has a way of thinking about content creation that takes the guessing and stressing right out, making it more simple and sustainable than you ever dreamed of. I first learned of Abby over a year ago, when I heard her being interviewed on a podcast, but we did not connect in a meaningful way until we both joined Podwize, the membership community for podcasters run by Angie Trueblood, a couple of months ago. The day this episode is being published is the day Abby is interviewing me for her podcast, The Content Experiment. How’s that for synchronicity? Here are a few of the highlights of our convo:

| The Boundaries Series: Obligation Management | 15 Mar 2022 | 00:36:45 | |
This episode is the second in The Boundaries Series, where we are unpacking the challenge of doing things we don’t really want to be doing, and for all the wrong reasons. Warning: If you have not already heard me say this, I have fully embraced the feedback that one of my favorite clients by calling me “The Speaker of Uncomfortable Truths.” This episode reflects that. In my work with female solopreneurs, I often hear about situations my clients are involved in but wish they weren’t. Sometimes, the situation involves a team member or a client, but it can also be with someone they collaborate with. The underlying issue is related to boundaries and specifically how we deal with feeling obligated, based on the principle of reciprocity. The bottom line is that each of us has limits when it comes to our capacity and if we are spending time, energy, effort, and dollars doing things out of a sense of obligation, rather than choice, we will feel strained and drained, not to mention resentful. If you are a creative or a healer, in particular, this will drag you toward burnout and possibly clinical depression. Time management is important, energy management is important, but obligation management is also necessary, so let’s get to it. Here is a quick overview of what we are going to cover in today’s solo episode:

| The NFA (No-F*cking-Around) Money Mindset with Dr. Amanda Barrientez | 08 Mar 2022 | 00:52:44 | |
Ever since I was a teenager, I have loved a good makeover. I am completely enthralled by the dramatic transformations on RuPaul’s Drag Race and Property Brothers, but I am also a sucker for a great dog rescue story where an allegedly aggressive Pittie becomes another family’s Good Boi. But, the stories that inspire me most are those of women who had their back against the wall and came out swinging. No matter what is in her rearview mirror, when a resilient and determined woman reaches her point of no return, she shifts into a “no fucking around” mindset, and from that point forward, everything changes. Today’s guest, Amanda Barrientez, also known as Dr. Amanda, The Money Healer has the kind of story I love the most. Because I was a social worker and psychotherapist who worked with kids from disadvantaged backgrounds in a former life, Amanda’s early life experiences sounded all too familiar. Fast forward to marriage, kids, grad school, divorce, and Amanda found herself on the professor track but paid so poorly that she and the kids qualified for food stamps. This was her NFA turning point. Amanda recently interviewed me for her YouTube NFA Money Stories series and I learned then that nothing is off-limits for her, so we were able to go deep into some really important areas not often discussed on a podcast. I am grateful that she was so open and generous with her life experience and the work she has done to transform it. This is not your typical rags to riches story where it's all sunshine and rainbows, touting entrepreneurship as easy and fun. One of the many things we agreed on is that getting what you want is hard. And it’s also worth it. Here are a few of the highlights:
Amanda walked away from being a professor to become a money mindset and manifestation coach. She helps female entrepreneurs reach 6 figures and beyond through her 3 step money mindset system and NFA Money Mamas mastermind. Smart, funny, down to earth, and refreshingly candid, this convo was satisfying on so many levels and you are just going to love it and her. Mic Drop Moment: “You get what you believe.” (Dr. Amanda) Mentioned in this episode: One of Dr. Amanda’s mentors: https://drdemartini.com If you’d like to connect with Dr. Amanda and NFA Money after listening to this interview:

| The Boundaries Series: Creating Consistent Client Outcomes | 01 Mar 2022 | 00:21:29 | |
Today’s solo episode tackles the problem of saying “yes” to clients you probably should say “no” to and why, and how to both create predictable outcomes and avoid both negative ones and surprises. Creating a specific way of working with people and sticking to it, instead of trying to help everyone you think you should, or believe you can spare you countless heartaches. The truth is that you really can’t help everybody. None of us can. Your personal values may include being flexible, adaptable, and accommodating, but this can get you into some real hot water in your business. This is not a matter of experience or expertise, or how long you’ve been in the business, it’s about the slippery slope of unmet expectations and human nature. This episode is the first in The Boundaries Series, where we will be exploring a number of things that we do that limit our success because we have weak-ass boundaries and don’t even know it. Spoiler alert: the way I look at and talk about boundaries is guaranteed to open your eyes to all kinds of things you probably aren’t even thinking about, in addition to the boundary nonsenses you already know you’re dealing with. | PR & Pitching for Experts with Michelle Glogovac | 22 Feb 2022 | 00:47:36
I am always excited to meet another woman who is crushing it in her online business, but the ones that become my biz besties are usually the women who were really successful in a corporate, nonprofit, or academic career before they said “Bye, Felicia!” before going out on their own. Today’s guest, Michelle Glogovac, CEO of MLG Collective, a boutique PR & Podcast Pitching Agency that helps authors, entrepreneurs, and experts share their stories. She decided that an online business would suit her life as a wife and mom a whole lot better than her corporate path of working in the aviation industry and give the creative freedom she craved. How often do you meet a badass biz boss who was up to her eyelashes in conversations about jet fuel in a former life? How’s that for a career pivot? Michelle and I became pals during a business retreat and decided that interviewing one another for our podcasts was a not-to-be-missed opportunity. Her superpower is seeing the story inside of experts that it is hard for them to recognize and share. This girl understands that she is in the relationship business, not the PR business or jet fuel business. She is not only a Podcast Matchmaker but has actually introduced two couples as well. Michelle has integrity, genuinely gets to know her clients by reading their books, listening to their podcasts, and doing a deep dive into their online presence. She hates sleazy sales tactics and is as allergic to “copy & paste” pitches as I am. Highlights of today’s episode:
Mic Drop Moment: “I actually have to believe in you to pitch your business, book, or brand” If you’d like to connect with Michelle after listening to this interview:

| Closing the Performance Gap: A Client Success Story with Dallas | 15 Feb 2022 | 00:48:21 | |
When you are a highly educated professional woman who knows she is capable of so much more than you are demonstrating in your career and personal life, it can be tough to figure out where the real problem lies. Is it your motivation, your expectations, your habits, your mindset, or a combination of all of the above, and how do you figure it out? Luckily for my client, Dallas, one of her friends had worked with me and told her what a great experience she had, and then she listened to a few episodes of this podcast and thought, “this might be just what I need.” There is a hilarious ‘blooper” during this episode that demonstrates why radical self-acceptance is one of the core principles I practice and teach. You will see why if you stick with the episode all the way to the end. We talk about why she decided to work with me, what we focused on and how it has transformed her thinking about money, being a lawyer, and allowed her to reach her billing goals without so much stress and beating up on herself. It was not a perfect and predictable path and at one point, Dallas felt like she had lost sense of where we were going, so we talk about how we resolved that. Here are the highlights of this conversation:
This episode’s Mic Drop Moment: “ I learned to stop selling from a hypothetical pocketbook.” (Dallas) Are you feeling the frustration of knowing you are capable of so much more but don’t know how to close your performance gap?
